As far as I have seen, there are Xolo, Advent VEGA, Shenzhen Homecare Technology Fly One (Russia?), EVGA and Gigabyte that are making the Tegra Note 7 (did I miss any?) Edit: Yes I did, Zotac is one of the major ones, as well. As well as Cherry Mobile, Gradiente, Gazer (Ph, Brazil, Ukraine).
Has anyone noticed any difference between the different brands, if so what are they are and is there one brand that has higher quality than the rest? Myself I would lean on Gigabyte and EVGA, but at this point, I have no idea.
Also, where besides ebay is the place where people buy these 2nd hand, I haven't seen anyone for sale on swappa. Only places like Craigslist and such left?
Homecare in china also, I think.
There are no differences between brands. This tab is just rebranded by other brands, manufatured by Nvidia, so quality is same everywhere.
I had purchased this Tab 1 year ago from Xolo brand in India and Xolo is not so popular here(Just a 1.5 yr old brand).
Cherry Mobile Tegra note 7 has different looks that other tegra note 7s but still the same tablet inside, I believe.
Hi new here and new to the tegra note 7, I bought mine used off US ebay they are also available used from US amazon starting at $140

Hi, Welcome to the forums. I am also relatively new here. Enjoy your new TN7, it's a nice tablet for both gaming and productivity given the price

Thanks I'm not a gamer the TN7 was only one of 2 tablets with a stylus that is compatible with the new square up chip card readers. The other one was note 10 way too big. So now along with gamers there will probably be a lot of small business owners trying to find this little gem.

Lenovo's Outlet has a boat-load of NEW Thinkpad Tablets for sale with various accessories included.
http://outlet.lenovo.com/tablets.html
Currently the 16GB with Pen included goes for $386.75, and it's brand new from Lenovo themselves. I'd say that's a pretty amazing deal! That's $90 off their regular online store NOT including the pen!
If anyone knows the reason for this price difference? (other than maybe they're looking to release their quad core tablet very soon)
Thought I'd share the great deal, looking forward to receiving mine shortly.
Well, considering I bought my September, not so much >.>, and I got it at 490 after tax and shipping, but still. I thought this was one of the only tablets that wouldn't drop their price
I think the problem is excess stock due to returns and cancels from poor software and hardware performance.
well ****
my 64GB model cost me alot more...
Ditto, and doesn't even work right. Lesson learned. No more Lenovo tablets for me unless they give them away.

Which android tablet would you say "works right" in comparison to the Lenovo TPT? I just ordered mine and it should be arriving next week complete with Folio Keyboard, Dock and Pen.
I chose this one for 3 real reasons, and 1 lame reason
Real reasons: 1)I like the option for the digitizer pen 2)It seems like it can take more of a beating than other tablets(i can be a clutz) and 3)I like the keyboard folio option(not for every day use)
Lame reason: 1) it matches all my ThinkPad paraphernalia(Notebook, Mouse, Keyboard, Cases...etc)
LOL I like your reasons. I never wanted the folio and still don't. If I had other Lenovo gear that would be a +1 here. I love the stylus but now others are coming so I don't have to put up with poor components and an OS overlay that requires root to function properly. My GPS has never functioned. If it wasn't for rooting and wanting to keep it, I'd send it in for warranty repair. Buttons have failed and micro USBs have too.
Getting a new tab soon. Already have a View and it has zero issue like my TPT. Looking for maybe the Galaxy Note 10.1.
Well, yeah, the pen is a dominating reason. At the same time, we bought it back in September, when this was the only tablet with a pen. There weren't even any that were rumored to come out except the hypothetical Galaxy Note at that point, which I learnt later at that time was only 5 inches. Now there's the Galaxy Note 10.1 that's coming out and a few more, so yeah, I'd look at the others before landing on the TPT. The Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet was almost a test, and though they did pretty well, I feel I might just wait a little bit longer.
I got my 32gb tablet for $350 for buy.com 8 months ago. I don't see why this price is so great?
I agree. Not great prices.
provantage.com
has...
16GB for 318
32GB for 340
Is that provantage price with the pen?
eBay has some solid refurb deals, but it's hard to tell with many of them if the pen is included or not. I just a 16gb refurb for $299 with just the pen and and charger.

It's worth getting if you can get a good deal on one. Lenovo has lots of refurbs on sale, and there's some good deals on ebay right now. I wouldn't suggest spending over $300 on one though (but that's just me, and I'm kinda cheap).
For note taking, it's probably one of the better tablets for that purpose (at least for notes with stylus/pen). But Windows 8 tablets will be here soon too (one of which will be the ThinkPad Tablet 2).
Thanks for the quick response. Do you mind if you have any links to good deals? Ebay has some refurbs but they're 300+.
Regarding Tablet 2, yes windows would be nice, but I really don't want to spend a lot on a tablet.

I'll PM you some. Mine was a factory sealed Lenovo refurb. The gorilla glass had one small scratch in it (it's a refurb, but I was hoping it would be scratch-free) but was otherwise like-new condition with a refurb sticker on the back.
Me neither, especially that much for something with an Atom processor (even if it is a ThinkPad...). But I'm sure Intel has made great improvements with them over the past couple of years or so.

Gee, I wonder why sales are below expected in the US? Could it be Best Buy's epic failure at promoting the product? The people at BB should be running the NSA; they're better at keeping secrets.
Maybe LG should just rename it the Area 51 Pad...lots of people have heard of it but BB continues to deny it's existence.
No kidding! The Best Buy help weren't aware of it and took forever to find it in "the cage".
LG has officially jumped the shark.
I don't know who is to blame LG or Best Buy or both but it does make you scratch you head in wonder how they plan to sell this tablet based on current marketing an store display. Why give Best Buy an exclusive if they don't plan to display it and sell it? They need to get this in more stores out on display. They also need to drop 30-50 off the price here in the states if they want it to sell it needs to be cheaper than the first iPad mini and the Samsung Tab 3 8 regardless of the specs and it being a better product most Americans don't know specs they know brand name and price.
Ya, BB has this thing in their phone department next to the G2. Like what?
They need this over with the other tablets, let alone the other 8" tablets. Luckily I knew where to look so i can get a hands on before deciding on a purchase online
The two BB near me do not even have it out in the phone area they have a picture of it in the G2 display but not the actual device.
It does feel like that what is otherwise a fantastic tablet will again fail to sell properly. Just like the Samsung 7.7 did in its time. You have to wonder...
BB has no interest in promoting specific products. If the G Pad fails, it makes no difference to them. They are just as happy selling an iPad or a Samsung Note. LG is the one who loses when this product is a flop. It's up to LG to make sure that retailers sell the product. If they made the product attractive to BB, then BB would sell it. The real problem is that LG has not advertised the product, they've priced it too high, and they haven't provided the right incentives to retailers.
A retailer isn't going to give shelf space or attention to a product that is as poorly marketed as the G Pad. If a lot of people were coming into the store asking for it, BB would pay more attention. It's LG who's keeping the product a secret. BB is just following their lead.
And why are BB and Newegg the only authorized dealers?? Why isn't Amazon, Target, Costco, Sam's Club and Walmart selling this? Where are the magazine and TV ads? The billboards? The point of sale kiosks, etc? LG seems to have no serious interest in this product. Any product that was as poorly marketed as this one would fail in the market.
At least my local Best Buy has a white one up for display *in the phone section* away from all the other tablets and readers.

I got mine on release date. They didn't have any on display and only one left in stock (other than the one that the guy tried to sell me the display unit and then noticed the computer said it was $1000 for it).
I visited my local Best Buy last night and they still don't have it on display (in tablet or phone area) or in stock. I really don't understand why LG has dropped the ball on this but it seems to be in line with about every other mobile company minus Apple and Samsung. Every display other than the Apple and Samsung displays looked cheap and run down. The Nexus 7 display looked fine, but they have a demo running on all of their models so you can't even get a real feel for how it works. If LG would put a nice display in the tablet area, these things would sell fast. I just hope enough sell to have a decent development community.
LG must not. want to be successful. they had it on display only at. best buy with the mobile phones. No advertising, ovepriced and lackluster support.
Whose poor ideas were this? only. 1 retailer in the US?

Apparently, US sucks *JOKE*
Here in Europe you can get your G Pad in 95% of all the electronics shops. Its really strange what's going on in the US...
I don't know how well the tablet is selling worldwide but at the biggest electronics store here in Zurich, I think it's doing quite well with the Black version sold out and only a few white versions left. Of course, this could be due to low stock to begin with, I'm not sure. I really hope it does well because I just got mine and it's probably one of the best electronic gadgets I have ever bought.
I'm no stranger to Android (although I haven't spent a great deal of time on the latest hardware such as the HTC One, G2 or Galaxy S4) but I was always a little disappointed by the promise of "buttery smooth performance" from the Jellybean. I have a One X and also another tablet from Pipo running the RK3188 so it's no slouch but both are not what I would call a smooth experience (although my One X became a heck of a lot better after flashing Cyanogenmod). I originally came from iPhones and iPads so I was very disappointed in this regard.
Now with the G Pad, I finally know what "buttery smooth" feels like on an Android. The machine is just incredible with next to no interface lag at all and all the apps zip around without any effort. The Wi-Fi strength is also incredible, picking up my router from distances that my One X, iPad mini or iPhone 4S could never have.
For the sake of LG, I hope it really does well. They deserve it and will hopefully release more products like this in the future.

As you pointed out low stock could mean heavy selling or it could mean low stock. Considering the way it started off in the US, i.e., few retailers and high prices, I'm inclined to think that LG does not have a lot of capacity to manufacture the units. Currently, we're seeing more discounting in the US and few more options for retailers, but it is still not widely sold. Could be that the situation will get better as they produce more units.
Awesome tablet but I just returned mine to BestBuy. I've been burnt before buy buying a killer device that no one else bought. Software updates don't come and accessories don't fit. Very sad that LG made this ridiculous exclusive distribution deal.

I played with one at best buy in southern il today it was next to the lg g2. I think I'll love this thing it's the perfect size and seems fast. I figure I'll keep for at least a year maybe longer if no one comes out with a better 8 inch tab. Samsung's note screen sucks I also looked at it today.

Well Said Woody.
Fast forward to the present and it's still the same.. BestBuy could care less about this Tablet.. a lot of sales reps still don't know about it and it's still to this day not on display..
And that's sad.
I have posted similar thoughts about lack of promotion and availability for this tablet in other forums. It's very strange to have such a product available only at one B&M retailer (BB), and one online store (Newegg), and as a GPE version. With that approach you would think LG would have dumped a bunch of money into promoting the G Pad at BB. I've seen enough complaints in the reviews at Newegg (and elsewhere for units purchased from Newegg) to think they were chosen to handle the returns, refurbished units, and otherwise 'unclean' units.
Having said that, our BB started displaying a black version and a white version G Pad a couple of weeks ago. Last week they price matched Newegg's $280 for the black version for me when they were selling theirs for $350. The sales rep I got knew all about the G Pad and started trying to sell me on it but I already knew everything I needed to know.
Now VerizonWireless has started to sell it as well, with LTE. That could be a breakthrough for this tablet, especially with the pricing model they have ($100 with a 2 year contract through tomorrow, $149 after that, and $300 with no contract). Those prices are pretty enticing, I think, especially compared to BB's $350 everyday price for the WiFi only model. It will be interesting to see what happens with this tablet now that VW is in the picture.
Another thought. I've wondered, especially since the GPE came out, if maybe the G Pad is a trial run for a Nexus 8 replacement for the Nexus 7 and maybe a new Nexus 10 as well that a lot of folks are waiting for. Google got a lot of heat for the issues many folks had with the Gen2 Nexus 7 built by ASUS. Maybe they are testing the waters with LG for their next generation Nexus tablets and they and LG aren't necessarily concerned about how much money they make from this one. Just a thought.
I just went out to Currys to try and pick one up instore however it was out of stock. Also out of stock on the online website.
However, its still available on their eBay outlet store for the same price. (£99)
Is this still worth picking up then? Are the going to be discontinuing this model? Are the eBay ones their surplus stock their trying to get rid off?
Do you think the price will drop any further?
Thanks!
Very much doubt the price will drop any further. The £99 price tag is to get rid of surplus stock. I got mine at this price as well.
Thanks for that!
So you reckon its still with a pop? Not much else better I can get for £99 can I?
Performance Per Buck (PPB also know and Bang for Buck BFB) is that good that its not just worth getting its worth ripping it out their hands. I have had one which was faulty but the second one is perfect! just make sure you get the Magnetic cover as well!!!!
For a tablet that can keep up with the modern phones its smashing mate.
Yes I managed to play with one in store and it handled everything I threw at it with ease. I was just a bit concerned that it isn't really as popular as other tablets despite the low price.
I was deciding between this and the Nexus 7 2013, but I'd probably not go for the latter as the chip is ancient in tech world now and Nexus 8 is announced this week...?
Thanks all the same for the help, was just really what I was looking for, a confirmation I am doing the right thing. [emoji3]
I guess I'll place my order in the morning.
Cheers!
This tablet crushes the Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 in benches. A tablet that is not popular is not always a bad sign.
But there is also the down side of the company that has its branding on the Nvidia Tegra Note 7 (tegratab) in our case in the UK its Advent as they have bad rep in the computer side of things how ever with the TegraNote 7 the only thing Advent did was Brand the Device the sold making was down to Nvidia!! hence why Nvidia supplies the OTA's and the EVGA GiGabyte etc are all the same. The only major difference is the partition called LBH which holds the bootanimiation with the company whitelable.
I got mine from here, mint, saved £20 for a sd card and case

Quick question, does this come with a screen protector already pre-installed?
And any cade recommendations?

Seeing how hostile are Netflix and Amazon prime to almost all Android tablets (no HD resolution), I decided to pick up one of old cheap Android tablets that are whitelisted in the Netflix FAQ. I figured, I could pick up a Shield tablet for less than a hundred bucks to be a gym companion, and this is the result of the first auction I tried to bid on. This is insane, who are these people?
Paying almost full MSRP for such an old device. lol
The Shield was a pretty unique device. An Android tablet designed for gaming, made by a respected manufacturer of gaming video cards. Still folks looking to buy it, as you can see. I might be still using it, if I hadn't cracked the screen (and replacements pretty much impossible to find).
Doesn't help that there are hardly any decent Android tablets coming out anymore. $650 for the Samsung Tab S4 (or $550 for the two year old S3) is just laughable.
But yeah, for the price in your screenshot; you're probably better off buying a Asus Zenpad.
What redpoint73 has said. When you consider the hardware, for under 200 it's still a very solid performing tablet and not really selling itself hard on frills. The downside is that Nvidia no longer produces them, so there's a finite amount of them and they are desired.
I've seen them going for around 200-250 on average.
Here something interesting samsung going to release new tablets
1. Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e with Snapdragon 670 4GB Ram 64GB, 6GB Ram 128GB price maybe $400
2. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2019 model with Samsung Exynos 7904 processor 2 or 3GB Ram 32GB Internal Storage and might cost $179-200
Both support Android 9.0

Try Let go or offer up. I just bought a Mint condition shield tablet, shield controller, plugs and mini HDMI to regular HDMI for 50 bucks!
Bought my son a k1 a few years ago for well over $200. Gotta be almost 3 years now & the k1 is still a great tab. Got a new battery on the way but after almost 3 years that's to be expected. Still handles games, media & anything extremely well. Doubles as a console which is way cool. An extremely durable tablet, my son is 7½. Not updated anymore, it landed on Android 7, which I consider to be one of the best versions, especially for older devices. Anything around $150 for this tablet in good working order, even in the age of Q I think is a good price. Definitely one of the best tablets every imo.
Sold my replacement unopened Shield tab for $350 on ebay earlier this month. Not sure why people are paying so much for a 5+ year old tablet but I cant complain!
