Pioneer MVH-X360BT can't access music on SD card ... - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. I am not 100% certain but sure this is to do with the encryption policy on my phone...
My company requires my phone and external SD card be 100% encrypted...no way around that unfortunately.
I noticed that my car receiver, MVH-X360BT from Pioneer, can read the files on my phone just fine, but not on the SD card. It sees the folders but won't list anything underneath them. All of the files are supported of course (MP3 and such) but for some reason this only happens on the SD card.
Is there any known way around something like this? I'm certain it has to do with the encryption policy and my company is not going to change this. I can stream via blue tooth but it would be handy to use direct USB mode so I can search through music as my kids often want me to play one song or another.
I also noticed that playlists like to disappear...any known issues with that by chance?
Running Android 5.0 on T-Mo.

8GB MicroSD and Audio Manager Problems

Hi All
Happy New Year
OK, so I'm happy, I have just received my 8GB Micro SD card in the mail. I popped it in the phone, and my Touch remained happy.
There is a problem though
I use Audio Manager and have put about 1400 songs on my 8GB card so far, to take up around 5GB of the storage.
But, I can't see all my songs in Audio Manager.
When I go to the library, the rotating magnifying/search glass is always working, and it is only showing about half of my songs.
I also went into WM player on the phone, and update the library, and it too doesn't show all the songs either, although It does show about 900 of them.
Anyone know what is going on, or how to rectify this?
There is also another problem too...I thought I would upgrade Audio Manager from ver 1.02.409.721 to ver 1.02.919.713, so I uninstalled the old version, rebooted and installed the 'new' version, rebooted and went to check the 'about' page, only to see I'm still running ver 1.02.419.721.
It's really annoying not to be able to use the full 8GB capacity to load songs onto my phone so far and not to be able to get the latest AM version on my phone too!
I have an 11 hour and a 2 hour flight on Tuesday from England to USA, and I'd really like to be able to have access to 8GB of songs!

I would also like to know if anyone has had this problem since I was thinking about getting an 8gb card also. Someone help this guy out!
From what I've read, I believe it only registers up to 4 gb of space on the card. I may be wrong.

I don't think that is right because I've heard people testify that their 6gb cards work perfectly. But then again maybe those people are lying lol jk
i have a 4GB on mine and it also just recognizes some of my songs....any one have a solution for this.....thnx
From what I have read, all specs say that it can only recognize 4gb. But that is for microSD. Besides a few companies that have made 6gb microSD cards, anything past 4gb is usually microSDHC. I was also looking at getting a 8gb card, but I read that you need to have a microSDHC compatible device. So I'm not sure if that might be the problem, but I can't find anywhere that says that microSDHC is supported by the touch. And also there are some microSDHC 4gb cards, so that might be the issue for Ostthug2k. Check to say if it says that on the card and if not check the manufacturers website to see if it is a microSDHC instead of microSD. So I think the problem just might between have those two types. That would explain the 6gb card working because some of those are microSD and some are microSDHC. (The HC is "high capacity" by the way I think) Maybe I'm wrong about all of that, but I think its worth it to look into.

I also have an 8gb card which my touch recognized with no problems. It is SDHC compliant so you shouldn't have a problem with 8gb. I only have 974 songs on there at the moment but WMP handles that without a problem. You may have to delete your old library and force it to rescan if it's giving you a problem. I'll wipe my card and fill it up to the brim with all music to see if there's some physical limit and report back later today.
Link the new version of audio manager you have and I'll try that too. I never bothered with it before since WMP has always worked for me.

Hi
I went in and deleted the library but it still only picks up a limited number of songs.
What is also annoying is that Audio Manager is constantly 'searching' for songs in the library (the rotating magnifying glass) and that seems to be draining my battery faster too!
Arghh
I can't understand why loads of other people aren't finding this out... Is it because not many people have the 8GB MicroSD card yet?

I put just under 2000 songs and WMP found them just find. Searching was amazinly slow, but it still worked.
Post the cab for the version of Audio Manager you're using or that you wanna use and i'll give it a try.
itune rip
i noticed that the cd that i ripped using itunes does not show up. others are fine, except for those.
what I have noticed is it recognizes mp3 files well but has trouble picking up m4a files. make sure that when you ripped the cd in itunes that you did it in mp3 format instead of m4a
i have a 2g card and at first it would only let me store about 120 mp3s. i formatted it on my pc and after that i could fill the whole card.
Had the same problem using Audio Manager / 8Gb microsd / itunes.
The solution I found :
- Only use .mp3 files (all other are not correctly recognized)
- Use itunes or another mp3 tool to clean all ID3 Tags in mp3 files. Audio Manager do not handle very well ID3 tags that are not well formatted or that contains non ASCII charcaters
Now I have 1600 songs with Audio Manager, and no more a mooving magnify tool (it mooves only on the first launch of audio manager and the stops after few minutes)
I have 1 4GB SDHC card loaded, however I don't use Audio Manager b/c I didn't like the way it alphabetized everything opposed to using track listing as well as not being touch sensitive except for the scroll bar. Additionally, 8GB card will have a lot of info on it so you should expect it to have search for a bit to compile a list and alphabetize itself. I use S2P with no problem plus full screen album art etc...
There are more recent versions of AudioManager that scroll properly and sort by track. I use it now on an 8GB card and it works just fine.

[Q] Music Transfer Problems

I purchased a Samsung GT-I5801 Android phone and a 32GB micro sdhc card. My goal was to use it as a smart phone and an mp3 player; essentially as an iphone at a fraction of the price. The phone works great and the android apps are fun, but the mp3 player functionality has eluded me. I have about 20GB of music and I can’t get it onto the card and/or into the phone.
I have tried transferring the data directly onto the card in two different laptops (both running windows xp sp3-hotfixed to recognize high capacity sdhc cards). Both computers can see the cards and recognize them as 32GB cards. I can transfer files back and forth from the card. I have used windows explorer to transfer the files as well as other programs: Windows Media Player, Media Monkey, FreeFileSync, Doubletwist, Winamp, and Samsung Keis.
I have also tried transferring the music to the phone with the card installed in the phone. I have tried this via all the above programs, including wirelessly transferring via Winamp. The process either stops and/or fails unexpectedly (twice producing the blue screen of death) or appears to complete successfully but turns out to only produce 2GB of music on the card while showing 20GB of space used on the card. The entire file structure for the music files is there but most of the files are empty even though the transfer process shows that they should be there. Then, when I remove and install the card again, the 18GB of space is freed up again to show that only 2GB (or less) of music is there. It is not always the same 2GB of music either. It seems random as to what files are transferred.
I have done a factory reset on the phone twice to make sure that it’s not the corrupted music database on the phone that is preventing all the music being recognized. I have also reformatted the card 3 times during this process. I have tried the following usb connections settings options in the phone: Keis, media player, and mass storage. I have also tried with usb debugging turned on and turned off.
I have a couple of questions:
1- Has anyone else had similar problems and how did you solve it?
2- Is there a maximum file limit per directory, or for music in general?
I’m at the end of my rope here, and am starting to wonder if the money I’ve saved by not buying an Iphone is worth the time and aggravation of this process. I have never posted a question on a tech forum before, but I’m desperate after spending a couple of weeks trying to solve this on my own.
you laptops sd reader is not sdhc Compatibility
try format card in you phone

is the card working on your friends phone? you must have atleast one guy who has a mobile which supports 32 gb card transfer all the music you want and see if all songs are detected in that mobile or not, if not your memory card is defective otherwise there is problem in your mobile.
Thank you for your reply. According to the specs on my netbook (Samsung NP-NC10) the reader is sdhc compatible. I have ordered an usb sdhc card reader to test the theory. I'll let you know how that works. I have formatted the card at least 3 times in my phone and have tried to transfer files with the card installed in my phone via the supplied usb connection cable. I have the same results.
Am I right in assuming that if my phone and sdhc card are working properly then I should have no problems transferring a large amount of music?
Has anyone else transfered 20GB of music to their Android and had success using it as an mp3 player?
have you test your 32gb sd card is real 32gb?
try hdtune or other tools like in windows ,or try full format in windows ?
if windows is hang ,over 2gb is can't read and write ...
i think you sd is fake card ..
Thank you for your suggestion to use hdtune. I tested my card with hdtune pro and it is a 32gb card that is healthy and has no errors.
I guess this means that I have a bad mobile? I wonder about transfering all my files again and then trying a factory reset on the phone.
I have not considered rooting the phone as I am new to this, but would that be a potential solution for this problem?
is in hdtune error scan ,full scan 32gb is not error?
sd card and card reader in phone is very Weak..
Update on progress
I have now checked the card using hdtune and reformatted it twice. hdtune detected no errors at any time.
I also purchased a usb sdhc card reader specifically. Just in case my built in readers were malfunctioning, but that has not solved the problem either.
I can transfer the files to the card. I can even read and access the files on the card on my computer. However, when I put the card into the phone, but files are not there, and the file folders are empty. Then, when I put the card back into my computer the files are gone.
I found this link on another forum with the same problem. While it is comforting to know that I am not the only one with this problem, I am still looking for a solution. Has anyone found one?
Found the problem!
I downloaded the H2test and used it to test my card. hdtune and windows did not discover the problems with the card, but this program did.
Apparently I purchased a 2gb card that was labeled as a 32gb card. The packaging and printing on the card all look like a legitimate Kingston class 4 32 gb sd card, but the actual card only has 2 gb capacity.
Apparently, the card tricked my windows computers by writing an index for all of the files I was transferring but only actually transferring up to 2 gb of data. That is why I could read some of the files on my phone, but not others.
If you are having similar problems, I would highly recommend this program!

Thanks to all who tried to help me, your suggestions were very helpful!
so the card is fake 32gb but only have 2gb.why hdtune error full scan can not find it?

thinking of switching from android, couple of questions on the focus (and wp7)

tired of syncing phone to google to live to windows 7 for my calendar and contacts, then using windows for my daily use, but needing linux to modify, compile and decompile android apps and what not. would like to stream line my life a little.
my main concerns are bluetooth, navigation and media/sd card.
i use a jabra sp700 in car bluetooth device for phone and media while driving. how well does the focus connect and remember bt devices? my current phone, i have to switch on bt, wait like 1 minute, then switch on my bt device, otherwise, it won't connect for some odd reason.
navigation, i see that bing has navigation now, however, every video and review i've seen is it's just the top down view, which is ok, however, it also looks as though everyone is zoomed way out. can you zoom in more to see/read cross roads? is there works (or does anyone know of any upcoming updates) for a true turn by turn navigation like google's navigation?
sd card, i see the approved list, but i have an HP 8gb card, not that i care if i could use it or not since the focus has 8gb internal and i've never needed more than 7gb on my phone. however, can you use both the internal memory and sd card at the same time? ie have some stuff internal and some external?
in call volume? how is it? not really concerned with quality since i grew up in a time with rotary dial phones. just need it loud enough to hear in louder than normal areas.
oh, and apps. my past experience with windows phones was that there were no decent apps for free. hows that with wp7? right now i have angrybirds and pulse news reader, which are the apps i used most throughout the day (yes, i know no ab on wp7 yet). but are there other apps that are worth using that are free?
photos, current phone has 8.1mp camera that takes decent photos as long as lighting is perfect. how's the quality of the focus'?
About navigation,
I think there is a turn by turn Nav App called A to B, still kind of basic, but usable.
Bing map is detailed in US, you can see the crossroads.
About SD card,
There is no guarentee unless you test it. And once the SD card is integrated into the internal storange, currently the only way to format it is to use a Nokia phone.
Call volume is fine for me. Camera is also fine, LED flash is present this time.
Most games are not free, usually 2-6USD. Other than that there are many free decent News apps.
when you say integrated as in the sd card, does that mean if i put in an 8gb card, i would have 16gb? or 8gb total?

You are going to get 16G.
If you put the SD card into the phone, the card will be part of the internal storange and you cannot different the original storange and your SDcard inside the system.

[Q] Eonon WinCE6.0 Head unit - USB Videos

Hi,
I have been looking round the forums for a specific question and it appears you always have the answers but just not quite exactly what I am after, so someone could help me now.
First some background: I have just bought an Eonon ARM head unit which is running WinCE6 with a very nice shell on it, what I am trying to do is play movies on the device either through the USB or the 'other' SD card slot (not the GPS slot).
I can play videos via the GPS card slot using Vplayer and this does not need to be installed but only plays videos from the GPS SD card. Vplayer doesn't see the 'other' SD Card slot or the USB, The thing is, I don't want to keep swapping the GPS in and out when I want to watch a movie.
I read somewhere that it sounds like my head unit has 2 IC mainsboard... so my questions is: is there any way to either have WinCE recognise the USB/ 'other' SD card OR have the shell not only play music from the USB/SD card but also Videos?
When I use Total Commander I can't see the other SD card or the USB even when they're plugged in.
Thanks so much in advance

That's all about it: basically there are 2 different units in one case. WinCE is for the GPS part, the other for the multimedia part.

Thank you jwoegerbauer, Is there no way I can edit the player on the multimedia side to play movies via USB/other SD card?
I am in the identical boat. D5153. Very disappointing if this isn't possible! Or I'd like to be able to have a different music player for the music on a thumbdrive/sd card, this way I don't need an ipoop to interface with the headunit efficiently.

Android auto disconnect when playing music from SD card (axon7)

Hello all!
I am having disconnects when playing music stored in the SD card of the phone. It is quite strange: if I create a playing list with mixed music from internal phone storage and SD card, everything works normal except when reaching the song before the one on the SD card. If I play it or the next one, connection is broken between the infotainment unit and the phone. Android Auto does not show any message and keep on working normally on the phone as nothing happened, but infotainment unit says connection lost. It happens only with music in the SD card with all the music players available. If I change the SD card into another phone everything works ok, so I suppose it is phone related.
My unit is ZTE Axon 7 android 1.3.0 B03 (Oreo).
Help please!
