Aluminum frame?

Is the frame anodized aluminum? and does it peel?
I'm thinking about buying the black SP and changing the frame with the frame from the white model which I assume is pure aluminum? unless they coated it white
So:
1. The frame is just coated aluminum but it doesn't peel, coating holds very well.
2. If you want to change the frame, you must also change the screen (glass), they're connected (glued?) together

i think its not aluminum, umm i use it without any protection and here are some pics of the frame and the screen
[They are in the 7zip file , cuz they were too big and above the upload limit as a jpg file]
It is aluminum, but not anodized. The paint pells off after several months (5-6 months), like in my unit. I used to have a white model and the aluminum was painted too, just like my current black model. However, now that the paint is peeling off, I can confirm that below the painting, the aluminum is still black, but I guess it's just ugly black.

Good to know, maybe I'll buy a 2nd frame and just remove all the paint.
I don't know how great would that go. I personally wouldn't remove it, as we don't know how great the aluminum by itself could stand. Not to mention that removing the paint could damage the aluminum too.
However, the idea of having a black model with white aluminum sounds pretty awesome to me. I wanted to do something like that before. Maybe I'll do so in the future. Anyhow, good luck. Make sure to post results.

Inner metal bezel scratched and huge gap

I just got my note 4 from t-mobile shipped yesterday oct 13. The pictures shows it all. Not only do i have a gap that is only at the top and right side of the phone (which i can live with), the top right hand corner shows that the inner bezel scratched possible from applying that screen. I can live with the gap but not those scratches as the white phone bezel make it more noticeable. Sucks to get the runt of the new note 4s...
i wouldn't call that a "huge" gap, you can probably just slip a piece of paper in, but not anything thicker, same info posted by androidauthority and unbox therapy. how did you scratch it with a SP anyway? glass SP?
It just seems like the paint that used on the metal came off in those spots. As for the gap, it's no bigger than any other note 4, but I do agree that dust and other particles will get stuck in there over time.
same small gap on my phone but then it disappeared after i put on a case. Even without the case it doesn't really bother me that much because i didn't even notice it
You can scratch it if your removing bubbles
I don't think you have a gap issue at all. I'd be a ticked about the scratches though.
Those aren't scratches. Those are the antennas

trust me those are scratches from the paint peeling off the metal. Probably for poor installation.
This phone also had very loose volume rocker buttons.
Also the gap is way bigger than any of the 4 phones that shipped. ( had a total of 6 so...)
Ended up returning this one and one with a dead pixel/dust ball under the screen.
Got my two replacements from t-mobile. all is good.
Oh my bad. I was looking at the last picture you uploaded where it shows the cut out at the top left of the phone

I don't care what anybody says, that bezel is straight up purple. Just like the ugly galaxy s3 one.

Couldn't find a smaller knife? Geesh #machete
Well that confirms it.
The midnight blue has a slightly blueish/purpleish tone to it's trim.
Guess im getting white...
The phone is BEAUTIFUL! I myself am more interested in the white ver but the tinted aluminum trim doesn't look bad at all imo. And I'd venture to say that silver trim/frame with the dark blue back might be to contrasty
I still can't tell if the metal part is dark gray or freaky blue
It's beautiful, but it has the slightest blue tint.
To start with, @20degrees, Think you need to remember what a "Bezel" is. You were saying the bezel looks purple, and my first thought was "No.... i'm pretty sure the bezel is black... like on most other phones". What you mean is the metal trim/frame/whathaveyou.
I, personally, would still rather avoid the white like the plague. I've never been a fan of the look of white phones (not to mention just worrying about the color itself, with potential discoloration from the plastic itself or from stuff rubbing against it i.e. pants material, etc...), and i actually quite like the purple-ish look to the metal frame of the Nexus 6. I mean... it's called "Midnight Blue".... not "Blue".
Im getting a white but not because of the purple thing cause I like that actually, but because of the blue back being a fingerprint magnet. But if they only have blue at launch then ill gladly settle for that. But Goodness gracious this phone is so beautiful!
How hard can it be for them to launch a damn Black phone ... Blue nexus Google really ?

Surely one of these sites doing unboximgs can throw a verizon sim in one?
Put a back-skin and you are done with changing color

I've had four whit phones and none of them have ever showed any signs of discolouring so don't worry about that.

Did he say it doesn't have the soft touch back? Does anyone know the texture of the white or blue?

Whatever. The bezel to me is what's around the screen.
The trim is purple. Who cares really? It's purple....

That's why I prefer the white, hate the blueish bezel, I had the blue S3 and didn't like the blue bezels. What they should have done was to to give options to change the back cover like the moto x to give it even more personalization......just a thought.
I have the Moto X 2014, it has the same trim around the edges & it's a gray/silver color from a distance I guess the black front can give that color look, but in reality it is gray.
Some girls are hot from a distance. I care what they look like up close. Lol

Losing silverness on the edge

Hello, even Samsung exchanged a new screen for me due to defective screen, within a few days I started seeing small dots in the edges between the glass screen and the silver edge. Is it due to some kind of oxidation or friction when I put the device in a bag? How to prevent such discoloration?
Can you post a screen shot?
Probably the same issues that plagues the bezel on the Note 3, as well as the S6's silver bezel around the camera. The silver colour is painted on, and it wears off fairly quickly, revealing the white plastic beneath.
What I always do is a solution us women have been using to keep our fake-silver rings looking silver for decades: blank nail polish. Simply apply a thin layer of blank nail polish on top of the bezel and it will erode much, much less. It acts as a protective layer.
To fix existing blemishes, you can use silver nail polish and a very, very thin brush.

Thanks. For the silver nail polish, is there a specific brand/model number or anything like that will do? If I want a pink bezel, I just get a pink nail polish?

Make sure it's a long-lasting one. Personally I always use L'oreal, but if that's not available in the right colour, Max Factor or Rimmel will do as well.
Yep, if you use pink, it'll turn pink. It's a coating, so you can use any you want. So if you don't like the silver and would prefer black, you get a black one. (those are available in gloss and matte)
We also do this to paint back covers, suitcases, keys, cables (to colourcode them), blemishes on shoes... I've used nail polish on pretty much everything.. except my nails!
The advantage of using Nail polish over dye is that you can simply wipe it off with acetone and a cotton swab if you don't like how it looks. (acetone is nail polish remover. You can usually find it within 3 meters of the nail polish stand in a pharmacy.)
Just to make sure that we are talking about the same issue, I am enclosing two photos.
It's funny what we OCD on . . I'm looking at that and thinking you're crazy but at the same time when I approach my car from the passenger side every day the first thing I look at is the ding in the door that my son put into it a year ago . . So while I personally wouldn't fret over this issue on my own tablet since I get full enjoyment out of it daily I feel your pain when you say it's an issue for you.

Is the graphite color more easy to scratch? (versus other color)

I dont know if my question is ask correctly (i'm french), but will it be easier to scratch the graphite color versur the frost/silver. Do we know what's the aluminium quality?
I don't know if its any easier to scratch then others but you will notice it right away since the scratch will probably take of some of the coating showing the base metal . Kinda like a black car the scratches stick out like sore thumbs cause they look white
thank you, I'll switch to frost right now because I don't trust the metal quality of Huawei.
If it's anything like the HTC M7 (or was it 8) that came in black..then yes, it will be ugly when scratched because the black is just a paint or coating. At least with the white, you wont be able to really differentiate the color difference between white and raw aluminum.
Can anyone shed more light on this? I love how the graphite one looks, but maybe the silver one will be more durable
The graphite version chips and scratches pretty easy. So much so i had to go with a skin to cover them and keep it from getting more. If i had a choice i would go with the alu.
I don't know, the silver has " chamfered edges" which look just like the ones on the Note 4 , I had the note 4 and the sides/edges scratched like crazy , almost by just looking at them :/ maybe the silver nexus 6p has the same issue?
