I have managed to get Google play store to installed on my Gwatch and it signed in fine and got my account setup but every time I start it there is no network connection is there an edit to wear file system or build.prop etc.. That could let normal Google apps side loaded to have networking?
Currently there is no real networking. It seems that play services proxies requests for play services through the phone, so no real connection is done. Currently I think the only supported way of getting content from sources that require networking is with a phone-side app pushing it back and forth.
So how does it know when my password was right wrong and set up my account? It did have to have networking to setup account?

As I said, Play Services proxies it's own connections. Play Store doesn't use Play Services for literally everything (browsing the store, etc.) only for authentication and purchases, the rest contact Google's APIs directly over HTTP.
Ok I'll keep trying
I had forgotten, during the next update they have been reporting that it will add WiFi to the OS. Which means that real networking will be coming soon. Probably not over Bluetooth, but once the subsystems are in place I'm sure someone will find a way to get real networking over Bluetooth.
/system/app and /system/Priv-app apks can use networking playStore, UCBrowser,etc...

Or adb shell Push or use a file manager to move the UCBroswer.apk to /system/Priv-app/ and change permission rw, r, r
Then you can download apks straight from watch and use ES file explorer.apk to install apks, all from the watch play store works too, the same way but installs apks so no need for file manage, there is not much space in/system partition, but it seems that any app in /system can have networking, also if you need more /system space you can delete or move some watch apks, ie photoWatchFace.apk moved to /data/app saves 4+mb but watch face can't update the pictures anymore but if you don't use Fit.apk,watchFaces.apks you could delete or move to recover more space for /system apks

I have a T-Mobile Motorola Defy that I have moved over to the Walmart Family Talk network (operated by T-Mobile). I am new to android but have a programming background.
I rooted the phone using SuperOneClick in an attempt to delete the bloatware but it does not appear to be working. Although Superuser is installed, there are no applications populated in the list and no way to populate them so I am not sure what I am doing wrong here.
I tried the following alternatives to delete the bloatware:
I went into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Blockbuster but the uninstall button is still greyed out so I am unable to uninstall it.
I opened the Moto Phone Portal console on my PCand went into the file manager but I do not see any of the bloatware applications to delete and cannot find any subdirectories that contain these applications.
So the question is... now that the phone is rooted, how do I delete the bloatware?
Ideally I would like to delete: AppPack, Blockbuster, DriveSmart, Kindle, Lookout Security & Antivirus, Music, News, News & Weather, Phone Portal, Slacker, Social Networking, T-Mobile My Account, TeleNav GPS Navigator for TMO, T-Mobile Visual Voicemail, Voice Command, and Voice Search. If you know of a reason why I should not delete one of these, please let me know.
In addition, I would like to remove the T-mobile account since it is always trying to sync and is unable as I am on the Walmart plan instead. Any information as to how to remove this account without deleting everything on my phone and restoring to factory settings would be appreciated.
You need an application like RootExplorer or Titanium Backup (or both). With RootExplorer you will be able to see not only your SD card content, but the internal memory of your phone.
All apps are located in /system/app - just go to this folder and delete the application you need to get rid.
NB - deleting applications might not be the smartest thing to do, as there are many apps that are related to other - important ones. For example, a coworker of mine deleted Yahoo messenger, as (in his opinion) he was not using it, but it is neccessary for the contacts app, so after deleting it, he was unable to access any of his contacts - the app was force closing right after trying to open it.
A safer way is to use TitaniumBackup to just "freeze" an app and make sure it is not going to cause troubles. This way, if you need to restore it, you can just do so...
And even this is probably not gonna give you the desired results. I would just recommend using any of the custom ROM's that are out there - stable and fast, and all Motorola's bloatware has been removed.
make sure you clear data before deleting apps just in case..
Hi all
After updated to 4.2 I created new user for my wife.
"Installed" same games but they are 'new' for new user.
I want to copy data games files from my user to her user.
Anyone knows how to do it?
Need to be root?
Thanks

Assuming they are free games, as paid ones will need to be purchased twice. You can use titanium backup to back them up on your account and then restore them into her account. You do need to be root for titanium though.

Sorry - misinformation.
Paid apps do not need to be purchased twice, or restored into her user ID. That would be a really bad idea anyway - you would have two copies of the app.
With root use file explorer to find your save file under /sdcard/o/...something. Copy that file to an identical file structure under /sdcard/1, or whatever number your second user uses.
Apps done the correct way for multi-user never download a second copy. The Play store just sets a link to them in the main user.
Assuming app is available to both:
adb backup/restore might work for unrooted. Me, I'd Titanium Backup if it was important.
On a slight tangent, is there a shared data area that I could put shared files and videos that each user account would be able to view? If so do I need root access? Thanks.

Don't forget a shared data area would mean the contents, like high scores, are shared between the users.
Most of the time, different users will want their own customizable data.
Technically, you need to purchase the app twice for two different account under playstore, that's the whole purpose of multiuser right?

Multi-user is not a developer enrichment scheme.
Your tablet has one owner, and apps are sold to that owner on an account basis - not by user or device ID.
The owner is able to make them available to any other users of that tablet without repurchase.
I suppose you would want an eye sensor, to make sure the person using the app is the one that paid for it?
No need to pay twice.just install twice.
Seems I need root.
I used some file explorer, find this:
/storage/emulated
/storage/sdcard0
/sdcard
All seems point to the same folders.
No sdcard1.
More than this, can't find data game. I have to explain that I have free games (from play store) and paid games (humble pack). If I search imaginarium game with Astro, no resulta found -.-'
Pd: No root at this moment, original 4.2 room

Can you clarify this, apps are linked to the gmail account they were purchased with no? I haven't tried multiuser yet but I thought I read from others you have to add the primary gmail account to any secondary account to access the bought apps. Is this not correct? And if it is correct, can one add it only to google play and not have a secondary account access the associated email?

Set up a secondary user. Secondary user needs a Google account. Create a new one if appropriate.
Open Google Play on the secondary user. Click Options, then Add Account. Add your primary account (the one that owns your apps).
You will be given a choice of items to synch - uncheck them all. All you want is app access.
Display your apps (they are now visible to you). Install the ones you want the secondary user to have. They will NOT download - this user just gets a link.
When done, you can delete the main account from this user - or just leave it
I am going to start cutting and pasting this description - I keep having to retype it...

I appreciate that, I was just wondering whether there was a shared folder everyone could access as well as completely private areas for each user. Sounds as though there is absolutely no difference between multi user and having two completely separate tablets.
Well... Biggest difference is that only one copy of the app is shared by all the users.

Thanks, but one more thing. If I leave it in google play do they have access to the associated gmail? I would prefer to just leave it for future apps and add a password for google wallet so they can't purchase things. Hmm, I guess though they can uninstall things that I wouldn't want uninstalled. I"m thinking of a kid mucking about where he shouldn't.

You could try an 'app lock' app. i've tried 'app lock' on the play store which allows you to pin protect stuff like settings and install/uninstall and other apps - although couldn't lock gmail or certain system apps. But it should work for the play store. Maybe there are similar apps that allow you protect gmail.

Is it possible to move apps and its data from one user to another? To to so can I just uninstall app from first user? After that will this app and its data still be available for new user?

I tried to follow these instructions but a) I didn't get the sync message b) Play store doesn't display my bought apps in one place so it's not easy to find them and c) I have the feeling that it really double installs (I was hoping for a link).
Has anybody been able to get Google Play Music All Access running on the MOTOACTV? I've manually installed the latest .apk for Play Music, but when I got to Settings > Select Google Account, no accounts are listed.
Ideally, I'd like to connect to All Access while I'm on WiFi and select a few playlists for 'make available offline' so I can listen while outside running. I already do this with Spotify, but I'd like to be able to use Google.
Thanks.

Which Rom are you using? How'd you install it? Are you signed in to Google Play?
Glad you asked, ClearD. Why, I'm using the best ROM available: ClearDroid ACTV 1.1.9 T5. :good:
I installed Google Play Music by using the Play store on the device itself (and using the market search app included on the ROM).
The Google Play store shows it's associated with my account, and I have what I believe to be the latest version of Google Play Services.
Version info for each if it helps:
Play Store: 3.9.16
Google Play Services: 3.1.59
Play Music: 5.1.1106
When I open Play Music, it asks for me to select an account, but none are listed.
Thanks.
I wonder if an older version might work? I seem to remember someone using an older one a while back...

Hi all,
I have actually had Google Play music indeed work! The default DPI setting is too large to show your account listed, so I changed the build.prop to 90 and used a rotation control app to show more of the application. In the settings, chose account, you then can see a add new account and also a space where your account would be listed. After a little wild clicking in the area, you should be set up to go.
An alternative I first played with was during the initial setup of the motoactv on a new rom, side loading the play music apk and adding your existing Google account through the app before any others.
*an issue* what I've seen is that the first play of any library song works great, even over Bluetooth tethering of the phone. However, something is amiss with caching. the second time listening to the same song, the motoactv will say it plays but no sound will play. Deleting the cache will make the song work again? I've tried both installing on SD and internal with no difference...

Thanks, barczakmark, that worked for me! As for the multiple plays of the same song caching problem, I don't seem to be having that issue.

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me add my Google Acct. I have Play Music loaded and when I go in settings to add my account I receive a message that: Server error. We are unable to connect to the server to add the account. Pleasetry again later from Settings.
Any ideas what may be blocking me?

Hello, didi you manage to get google music login working ?
I get the same "unable to connect to the server to add the account" error.
No, I never figured it out.
I never got it working and never got a reply on here that helped so I ended up reverting to the original set up.
Actually the original set up makes the device more functional for me. I use mine for exercising and running and having to navigate solely by that small touchscreen is near impossible.
Hey all,
I attached my gmail account to the gmail app in my rooted nook. Now, I'm finding that I'm eating a lot more battery life than I used to. I'm guessing it has to do with the work of syncing the google mail. The problem, is that in the app, whenever I get into the settings area for controlling the account, the nook reboots. I'm not sure why.
I'd love to disable the gmail app or otherwise keep it from updating, but I can't get at it from any menus on the device. I was thinking ADB, but I'm open to other ideas.
AN IMPORTANT POINT: I don't want to remove my google account from the device, because I'm loading apps via the Market that way. I just want to stop the gmail mail account app from eating my battery through it's activity!
Something is fishy about that Gmail installation. Maybe try reinstalling the app? Or if you used the GappsAttack (or whatever), just redo that.
Failing that, you can disable the apps (as I did when Gmail kept failing to send mail without deleting the accounts and adding them anew--a known issue with older versions of the app) by renaming the apk files as .old or .bak or something. To do that you will need a Root Browser of some sort (like the free app of the same name). Then go to system/app and there rename Gmail.apk and GmailProvider.apk
When I was using Gmail I had it set to check "never", meaning I could check manually when I wanted. Now that I am using the Email.apk provided by NFHimself here I have it set the same way and it works great--all the time.
This is more or less information for those new to the NST/G and maybe contemplating whether to install Google Apps via NTGAppsAttack.
At the end of June 2017, Google ended Market access from Android 2.1 devices. That means no more direct access to market apps from the NST/G, not even through the SearchMarket app. It's over. Of course there are other ways to get apps. But this situation does beg the question "do I need/want GApps on my NST/G"?
The set of user apps installed is pretty basic (see list in the linked installation post). Of those apps, many now do not work.
GMail never worked properly. It picks up mail fine (still) but only sends a few messages and then has to be reinstalled if you want to send more. There is no apparent fix as this is a known issue for the version in the package. The simple email client I use can send and receive GMail on demand but does not require GMail sync to be working. Others may be similar. However, GMail is needed to set up sync for other things, as described in the NTGAppsAttack post.
Calendar never synced properly. A search of the forum will reveal various other apps people have used with varying success.
Contacts will not sync. Well, there actually is no Contacts app. Apparently the resident B&N contacts regimen interferes. Again, a forum search will yield various apps people have tried in place of Contacts.
Google Talk may or may not work. You can sign in, but that may not mean much.
Google News and Weather, aka Genie Widget, has been dead for some time now.
Calculator works Of course you could probably just drop that apk into your system/app folder and reboot. No GApps needed. And there are other calculator apps out there.
Other than Market access, the whole reason to want GApps is the ability to sync with information on Google servers. There is still one thing that works: Google Books (1.2.2). You can't just install Google Books and expect it to work without GApps because in addition to the apps listed, there is a slew of other stuff involving accounts and sync that is also installed with the NTGAppsAttack.
So the long and short of it would seem to be that if you're not interested in Google Books (for as long as it continues to work), then you don't need GApps on your system. If you do want Google Books, then you need GApps, but certainly not all of it.
Since the demise of market access I have been slowly disabling parts of GApps that seem safe to shut down. My list may not be exhaustive, but it does leave me with a functioning system. To disable an app in system/app, use a root browser to rename the apk file. I chose to rename Calendar.apk to Calendar.OLD, etc. Anything will do. GMail and GMailProvider can be disabled once you have set up sync for Books.
Here's the list of GApps I have disabled successfully:
Calendar
CalendarProvider
Gmail
GmailProvider
MarketUpdater
Talk
TalkProvider
Vending
If you have disabled others without breaking the system, I'd like to know. Always better to quiet the system down instead of having apps trying to phone home to no avail.
Edit: see also Regain Market access on your NST/G
