@Adam182 - that wouldn't brick it. Reason? It won't flash in the first place.

Got 2.8.5.0 running on my test device...... :good:
Rooted. There are limitations. \system is not writeable, as was initially on the M8 until insecure kernels were released here. Titanium Backup can't write to removable sdcard yet. I still have a hornet's nest of diagnostic software running and I have to give it a wide berth because logging is required on test devices.
Wonder if anyone there will notice what I've done after the overnight logs......

UPDATE: I might have the image at this point. Stumbled my way through adb commands to get the block, used the instructions here to extract what I believe to be a boot.img. Not sure, though, and sure as hell not going to flash it......

I think I did it, based upon instructions here.
At least I believe I have a boot.img. Filesize is 65,536KB, was block p065. Note, ROM version currently is 1.33.90605.315 on Verizon, not Mr_Bartek's version.
Don't flash my version on Verizon. That is a large partition for just boot.img. What command did you use?

From the thread, I did the following:
1. I figured out that the mountpoints were located in /dev/block/f9824900.sdhci
2. From that I concluded that boot was mmcblk0p65
3. Based upon that I did the following in a DOS box on a Win7 system with the M9 connected via USB with debugging enabled:
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p65 of=/sdcard/boot.img
I then pulled the boot.img off the sdcard to my PC
Note that the problem right now is that the internal drive is encrypted (they asked me to test encryption) and I can't turn encryption OFF on the internal sdcard. I've turned it on and off repeatedly on the removable sdcard (and that's not operating properly either). As a result, when I boot to recovery, TWRP can't read the internal sdcard. It asks me (repeatedly) to decrypt, but it doesn't accept the password. I was able to run a Nandroid onto the removable sdcard and backed up boot that way, too.
there just was an OTA for german O2 variant

I'm getting a lot of private messages lately on "how do I overclock my phone?"
I am not a developer, I just read and learn how to do these things and have no problem explaining it to the masses. It's getting generally irritating to paste the method and modify it to each person's specific needs, so here is a guide for everyone to try from square one.
(IF this has ALREADY been explained in another thread, then please disregard, and mod's feel free to delete this thread)
Note: This should work on most all roms. I have not personally tested it with all but I can say this method will work with cyanogen's mod/Stock/Stock de-odexed rom's. Don't blame me if you get stuck in a boot loop or have some other problem. Worst case scenario, restore to a backup, which reminds me...
MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE DOING THIS
Now I am a huge fan of Flippy125 and Coolbho3000's work on the overclocking of the G2/Desire Z. The files that will be used in this guide are from their work and they deserve credit for them.
I am merely just posting a guide for those who have trouble with other overclocking methods. Upon reading beyond this point, you accept that I take no responsibility for any damage you may cause to your phone and anything that goes wrong is your problem...not mine
With that said, let's get to business.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
A PC with Android's SDK installed (Get it here)
Overclocking kernel package (Wifi fix included, get it here)
A rooted G2/Dz
HOW TO DO IT
Now first things first, boot your phone into Fastboot mode by holding the Vol down+Power Buttons when starting it up. Hook the device to your pc via usb. Make sure the phone says "Fastboot" in red on it. If you have all the drivers then it should register everything just fine. If your pc says unrecognized device, then google "T-Mobile Vision Drivers" or "Desire Z Drivers" according to your device and install them.
I don't want this thread to get flooded with "where do I get drivers from?" Go google it.
If your phone is in fastboot mode, we can proceed to flash the kernel.
Now you will need to pick what you want the maximum speed to be on your phone. The provided package contains the 1.8Ghz overclocking kernel (stable) and the 1.9Ghz (unstable) kernel. They are labeled as such.
It is recommended that you use the 1.8Ghz because your phone is more likely to crash on start up if you use the 1.9Ghz.
Take your selected zImage1xxxmhz and rename it to just "zimage"
Move the newly renamed zimage to your C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\tools folder. This will make for easier flashing.
Now open command line on your pc.
Navigate to your android sdk tools with this command to the default install location
CD C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\tools
Click to collapse
Next we will proceed to flash the zimage you just put in this exact directory
enter the following:
fastboot flash zimage zimage
Click to collapse
If successful, your phone should display 2 lines confirming that it was successfully written to your device.
Next we will need to take the bcm4329.ko file out of the kernel package and move it to C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
We will also need to navigate to out platform-tools folder with command line.
Enter the following:
CD C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
Click to collapse
Now boot your phone into recovery mode (the screen that is used for rom installs and all that crap) Then select mounts and storage menu. Be sure to mount system and data. Once that is set enter the following into command line.
adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules/
Click to collapse
If successful, it should display something like "xxxxKB/s <xxx, xxx bytes in 0.xxxs>....but the x's are replaced by numbers.
If all went well then you should now have an overclocked device on restart.
You will need a program like SetCPU to control the speeds so it is highly suggested you check out the coolbho3000's SetCPU thread here!
Hope this helps all the newcomers that are looking for a little performance boost so good luck guys!
Hey thanks bro! You rock dude!

I'm getting the same error!!
Why not just download a kernel from Rom manager and flash it via clockwork mod? Hell you can even get the physical zip file and drop it into root of your sd card and flash it that way.
This entire guide is redundant. If you're getting people asking how to overclock their phones I would suggest to them that they do some more research and figure out how to do things the easy way, with tools already available to them: Their Brain.
It's just a different way of doing it. That's all. Thanks, OP.
Different way but love it. thanks

clk or magldr?
with clk and standard edition, no problem for me
Hello. At first, I did not invent anything new, just checked some my guess on a other motherboard. All thanks and credits to our great developers. As always, all at your own risk.
It does not work on the Fire HDX 8.9 (Saturn)!
All steps in this manual are not necessary but they are present for maximum safety. So I highly recommend do anything exactly in this way. Sorry my English as always =)
Update2 - actual method is https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75284993&postcount=1006
Update: now you can use updated draxie's utility - http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/general/multi-platform-1-click-bootloader-t3241014
Prerequisites for Installation
- Root
- Installed adb and fastboot drivers - official - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2twXJIOgv-UWWdwRl9TQS11b0k (if your system language not English, after fail navigate to "Program Files (x86)\Lab126\drivers" and run dpinst.exe /EL or switch to English =) for x64 need to disable driver signature verification before install ) also you can use pdanet drivers - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59268023&postcount=8
Manual:
1. Create unlock file following this instruction - https://forum.xda-developers.com/ki...r-firmware-t3463982/post70881555#post70881555
2. Flash old vulnarable aboot and cubed twrp (just in case). Check that all these commands executed without errors. If you'll get one - read second post below. If your firmware <=13(14)3.2.3.2 skip this step.
Download aboot and twrp for Thor (Kindle Fire HDX 7) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2twXJIOgv-UMGxXMUZPZTlZTUk or for Apollo (Kindle Fire HDX 8.9) - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2twXJIOgv-URzJDQkczNzRLaHM - and put this two files (twrp_cubed.img and aboot_vuln.mbn) into root of your kindle internal storage.
Run:
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp_cubed.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
dd if=/sdcard/aboot_vuln.mbn of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
Now you have working twrp recovery. It already works even without unlocked bootloader. You could boot into it by holding volUP during grey kindle logo. But no need to flash anything until unlock. At this point this is just emergency tool if something goes wrong =)
3. Flash unlock file.
Now, if you reboot, you will go straight into fastboot because of old aboot - newest boot.img can't load with it. If your firmware <13(14).4.1.1 you need run "adb reboot bootloader" to boot into fastboot.
Time to flash your unlock file.
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash unlock 0xmmssssssss.unlock
You must obtain "unlock code is correct".
Grats. You are perfect =)
You can flash:
CM13 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...ment/rom-cm-13-kindle-hdx-2015-11-29-t3259732
CM 12.1 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...ent/rom-cm-12-unofficial-apollo-thor-t3050199
Or stock repacked latest 4.5.5.2 rom - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2twXJIOgv-UVFFtN2RYNXNUZ0k (13.x - thor, 14.x - apollo)
Do not flash original stock firmwares.
Regards and thank to all - @dpeddi, @vortox, @draxie, @ggow, @Ralekdev, @jcase, @Hashcode
And greatest thanks for motherboard for my experiments to @MahmudS !
FAQ:1. if your get "not such file or directory" after su in step 2 (this is SAFESTRAP related possibly)- try to use next commands:
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/storage/emulated/0/twrp_cubed.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
dd if=/storage/emulated/0/aboot_vuln.mbn of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68751981&postcount=35
I think you can use greatest @draxie tool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/general/multi-platform-1-click-bootloader-t3241014 with doing step2 only. But it need to test. Anyway I highly recommend get your hw id's before any actions.

Great job! So, simply flashing the vulnerable bootloader "just works"...
Are you absolutely positive?
Although I've been expecting this all along
[but wouldn't dare trying, since the HDX is *still* my only tablet],
I'm wondering what the supposed "rollback protection" after 3.2.8 really covers.
Fixed issue (now hidden)
BTW: I get the exact same MD5 hash for both versions of 'aboot_vuln.mbn' (the two 'cubed_twrp.img' are different).

H[66b7df0db97c7c2905d1d61199c816a5]=aboot-13.3.2.3.2_user_323001720.mbn
Please double-check to make sure Apollo users won't get fried.
You do say that not all steps are necessary. Can you advise if my thinking below sounds correct?
I'm considering adding this to 1-Click; that's why I'm asking.. (If I could also include a surefire way
to root the device beforehand, we'd be all set for a truly 1-Click experience from scratch, modulo
strange Windows behaviour. [if anybody still cares ;-P])
I suppose getting rid of the potentially dangerous anti-rollback-related files is good measure,
but if they had been making any difference, this method shouldn't really work, right?
So, this may not be needed at all.
I'm also thinking that flashing TWRP in the same step -although nice- is not strictly needed.
Would you agree?

Although I have registered my 'thanks' on various posts it seems hollow to not explicitly recognize @ONYXis and @draxie for their tremendous contributions supporting this device both past and present. The ability to unlock virtually any rooted 3rd gen HDX is a true game changer that will revive interest in this discontinued gem that still competes nicely with contemporary offerings. i bricked my device and restored it with fastboot flash.
CPU frequency stuck at 100% bug still exist. Work fine for 10 mins after reboot, after that stuck at 100% again.
yes. I can confirm, that after using FP sensor, CPU stuck at 100% load. :/
Why do we need to repeat this in this thread. Everything has already been mentioned before in other threads.. Doesn't help when someone is looking for information

Installation also fails in my phone
The things I reverted are:
Changes made by adblock
Magisk mods: emojiOne and Mi A2 Camera app (I thought it was an enhanced version)
I flashed the original boot.img
But after these steps the installation doesn't work.
Other root apps I use:
Greenify, but not for system apps
Uptodown, but it has root privileges denied always
SD Maid. I think I didn't delete anything but maybe I compacted some databases
Any ideas? Is there any way to get more detailed info about the installation error?
Thanks!

Before trying this, I suggest you to backup your files.
Verify the system version in Settings > System > About the device > Version number and download the same version installed in your device:
V9.6.10.0.ODIMIFE
V9.6.13.0.ODIMIFE
V9.6.13.0.ODIMIFE
V9.6.14.0.ODIMIFE
V9.6.15.0.ODIMIFE
Unzip the package (7zip works perfectly to this job) and copy the files boot.img and system.img
1) Copy system.img and boot.img into adb folder
2) go to "settings > system > developer ... > USB deployment and enable it
3) plug you device on your computer, turn it off and turn it on again while holding power + volume down until your screen shows the Xiaomi bunny and "Fastboot".
4) in Fastboot, type "fastboot devices" and make sure your device is listed.
5) in Fastboot, type "fastboot flash system system.img" (without quotes) and wait it finishes.
6) in Fastboot, type "fastboot flash boot_b boot.img" (without quotes) and wait it finishes.
7) in Fastboot, type "fastboot flash boot_a boot.img" (without quotes) and wait it finishes.
8) in Fastboot, type "fastboot reboot" and unplug your device.
This works for me, maybe works for you.

New update today...
After yesterday an update was delivered, I am now offered a new update. The installation is now running. I noticed after yesterday's update that there were significant "memory / processing delays", which had previously not occurred on my device. The update is 203 mb, yesterday only 103.5mb were delivered.
First up, shoutouts to both @phhusson and part of this thread from @YOisuPU for vital guidance throughout my first journey with super-partition devices.
A51 5G runs on Exynos 980 unlike the 4G variant which runs on Exynos 9611. People have been running into trouble rooting the 4G variant and even resorted to GSIs just for rooting, but on the 5G variant all you had to do is to patch boot+vbmeta (don't include recovery) with Magisk. If you just need root, stopping here is enough.
For me, running my LOS GSI is absolutely necessary, but Android 10's super-partition compounded with Samsung not making fastbootd available means an even harder time than what I've had with A60/M40. Below steps apply to this device and might also serve as a general skeleton for other Samsung devices with super-partition.
0) Get Linux - some tools used here just don't have a Windows version
1) On stock firmware, open shell and run
Code:
lpdump
to get some partition info that'll be used next - example output here
2) Get stock firmware
3) Extract super.img.lz4 from AP and then super.img (sparse) from super.img.lz4 with your tool of choice (e.g. 7-Zip ZS)
4) Unsparse super.img:
Code:
./simg2img super.img super.raw.img
5) Extract partitions from super.raw.img:
Code:
./lpunpack --slot=0 super.raw.img <dir>
6) Replace system.img in <dir> with GSI image
7) Repack your own super.img:
Code:
./lpmake --metadata-size 65536 --super-name super --metadata-slots 2 --device super:7549747200 --group main:7545552896 --partition system:readonly:2147483648:main --image system=./system.img --partition vendor:readonly:729890816:main --image vendor=./vendor.img --partition odm:readonly:4349952:main --image odm=./odm.img --sparse --output ./super.img
Compare the command to the lpdump output obtained earlier - many of the numerical parameters here directly match. For the 3 partition declarations, assign them sizes equal to or larger than (recommended) their byte sizes.
8) Compress your super.img into a tar and flash it via Odin in the AP slot
9) Make sure that the device runs patched vbmeta (but stock boot image - somehow the patched one causes a bootloop on GSIs), do a factory reset in stock recovery, reboot
simg2img, lpunpack and lpmake binaries can be obtained online (e.g. from the aforementioned thread) or built from source.
By the way, I've fixed some sepolicy issues with PHH's Superuser, so in future builds, unlike what was described in the thread, 4G variant users likely won't need a permissive kernel to get root on GSIs (at least it doesn't here).

Sub-partition sizes are arbitrary, as long as they can contain the respective content (e.g. system has to be larger than your GSI) while still fit inside super.

Hmm! Mainly flexible. For example, my brand division does not have the "odm" division, and replace it with my own division "product". That's it.
@AndyYan thank you so much for writing this detailed guide.
Thanks to your detailed guide I was able to create an automated bash script that performs all of these steps automatically and makes all read only partitions inside super.img (system, vendor , product, etc...) into read write-able partitions again and flash to device as a brand new super.img.
It would be an honor for me if you could please try it and let me know if it works on your device. Thanks.

It may sound stupid, but how do I get the lp command tools?
This can:
Bypass TMO flash lock as it uses 9008 EDL.
Remove TMO sim lock and oem lock as you will be using global rom.
Convert your KB2007 (KB09CB) to KB2005 (KB05AA) as much as possible. (Although you're using the latest KB2005 firmware, any LineageOS stuff, such as LOS system,LOS recovery and LOS fastbootd, will still recognize it as KB2007. This is the same in OOS 11. But in OOS 12 system, it shows and acts like a KB2005.)
Should enables dsds (dual sim dual standby) in OOS 12. (Not tested. But status bar shows two empty sim slots in KB2005 OOS 12. After I flash LOS 19.1, slot 2 won't act unless boot with "persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds" prop.)
Give you access to Global OxygenOS firmware. (Bye slow TMO~)
Probably give you better overall condition (e.g. partition) than some fastboot scripts, as it's done directly by 9008 EDL.
AND THIS WILL DELETE ALL YOUR DATA ON DEVICE!!!
Actually, you should be able to change any brand device to any version you like by this method, but take your own risk as nothing is solid tested.
This can't:
Give you a second IMEI. (In OOS IMEI2 is "null". I guess it's hard baked somewhere.)
Remove TMO flash lock or unlock a locked bootloader. (You still need unlock token for that.)
You tell me please. I don't have enough time to test everything.
Please:
BE AWARE THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR HARDWARE, NOT ME.
MY SUCCESS DOESN'T MEAN IT MAST HAPPENS TO YOU.
YOU ARE THE ONE WHO TAKE ALL THE RISKS. (And your phone, too.)
Be kind to other readers and help them, I can't stay online all day, sorry.
Why:
I own a fully unlocked KebabT running LineageOS 18.1, and I decided to try LOS 19.1 out.
But OOS 12 firmware is so buggy that it even broke my LOS instance, and the fastboot (not fastbootD, for hell reasons I can't enter LOS recovery AFTER ALL firmware upgrade) is also too buggy to fix my issue.
I unbricked my phone using this " https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...l-to-restore-your-device-to-oxygenos.4180981/ " (Thanks for sharing!!!), but only to find that TMO firmware is so old, buggy and limited.
Then I googled and found this "https://www.droidwin.com/convert-oneplus-t-mobile-metro-to-global-on-locked-bootloader/" and this "https://github.com/bkerler/oppo_decrypt" ,but they are slightly outdated and doesn't fit kebab.
I fetched global firmware from here "https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/oneplus-8t-rom-ota-oxygen-os-repo-of-oxygen-os-builds.4193183/" (Thanks for sharing!!!) and started trying.
After a few tries I succeed and decided to share what I found.
How:
Firstly, know your hardware. Especially your ram type (ddr4 or ddr5) !
Then follow what this "https://www.droidwin.com/convert-oneplus-t-mobile-metro-to-global-on-locked-bootloader/" said, BUT WITH EXTRA MODIFICATION on your "settings.xml":
1. Overwrite "BasicInfo Project", "Version", "ModelVerifyPrjName", "ModelVerifyRandom" and "ModelVerifyHashToken", these makes you pass MsmDownloadTool's pre-check.
2. Scroll to the end of file and overwrite [Target ID="1" Desc="O2"] with [Target ID="101" Desc="TMO"], otherwise your flash won't begin as the tool can't find right hardware to flash.
3. Search for "Image ID=" and modify the results. For me, I have a DDR4 device, so I go with "xbl.img" and "xbl_config.img", so FOR ME I change "Image ID="1"" to "Image ID="101"", and change "Image ID="65537"" to "Image ID="65637"". Otherwise MsmDownloadTool won't be able to locate the right xbl img file to flash.
4. Follow the rest of that great guide and have a few tries, you won't lose more as you're already under EDL mode. Wish you success!
And:
Sorry in advance for any possible confusion as I'm not a native English speaker. You can ask in replies!
Please let me know if I'm wrong, I'll try to correct.
If this is already shared by other great guys, please forgive me as I really didn't find any related post in this forum.
I doubt this "https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...m-unlock-or-bootloader-unlock-needed.4188491/" (Thanks for sharing!!!) is done in the same way but no one mentioned about it.
Special thanks to bkerler for creating this awesome "https://github.com/bkerler/oppo_decrypt" project!
Special thanks to LuK1337 for maintain LineageOS for OnePlus 8T!! You're great!!
Question:
It it possible to remove flash lock in this way?
I've tried several times to flash with kebab not kebabT MsmTool. But I can't make it work.

I'm kind of curious to know what your model number would show up as in the About Phone screen. Being able to incorporate the SIM fix into the ROM would be a good thing. There was a link in the OP to a took that could unpack and repack the OPS file. My concern is, at least with the bastardized Color/Oxygen OS stock hybrid, that it will still see the device as a KB2007 and not an actual KB2005 outside of just the firmware version.

For LOS and OOS 11, KB2007. (But for OOS 11 software update page, it shows as KB2005. You're able to get KB2005 OTA updates without any problem.)
For OOS 12, KB2005 everywhere.
You can try to spoof device model by using magisk_hide_props_config module, but it's another story.

You can get super.img using oppo_decrypt.
But, I thought that's an unencrypted raw disk image, am I wrong?
And by the way, I flashed KB2005 super.img into my KB2007, but fastboot flash lock is still there, have to use unlock code bin file to disable it.
I apologize, as I don't quite understand the original post. This seems to be trying to specify a way to get dual-sim on KB2007 with A12? Apologies for the dumb questions, 1) How do I found out if my KB2007 has DDR4 or DDR5? 2) The instruction link https://www.droidwin.com/convert-oneplus-t-mobile-metro-to-global-on-locked-bootloader/ , following these steps seems to still leave the device on Android 11 (because that is the rom that comes with the MSM tools). If we then update to Android 12, won't that disable the dual-sim again?

To answer your questions:
1) Check here: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/kebab/fw_update
By the way, 8T hardware has two major variables: UFS 3.0 / 3.1 storage, and lpddr 4 / 5 memory. Storage type doesn't matter to rom flash, but memory type does.
2) Yes! You're still on OOS 11 after change-brand flash, but then you can OTA to KB2005 OOS 12 directly.
And, because my final goal is to run LOS, I didn't put my sim in while my phone is on OOS, so I can't really answer if dual sim is available in OOS 11 or 12.
In LOS, I use magisk_hide_props_config module to add "persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds" into system prop to enable dual sim. You can also try this "https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...bile-8t-kb2007-with-lineage-aosp-rom.4262669/", same stuff.
If your KB2007 is flash locked, you can try the following steps and see if it will work:
A. Use oppo_decrypt to get elf files from msm rom;
B. Use QPST (and the elf file) to flash magisk patched boot.img into your device under 9008.
C. Install magisk model and get dsds.
∆ The risk is in step B.
I'm not familiar enough with QPST and never succeed to get QPST work to do anything.

Err… Try use MsmTool readback?
Oppo_decrypt offers an option to enable readback. I haven't used it though.
Or can you change what you have to, directly on a rooted device, and check if it works?
I'm still confused. Aren't those img file raw disk images? Can't you mount and read them on any Unix-alike device? How do you usually do this with other devices?

Okay I understand now..
The goal is to change sth inside vendor and other partition, but they can't be remounted read-write inside system.
And the img file can't be exacted or repacked.
Will you try to remount those partition in recovery ADB maybe?
