Finally someone that understands how this works. All this talk about different carrier builds makes me want to smash my head into something. Lol It seems few people actually know what they bought when they picked up a nexus 6.

Or, seems like some people are underestimating the power of these carriers and completely forget how updates on the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon went.

I am rooted and romed, but my dad likes OEM.
If I take this OTA on his phone, is there a way to revert back if he does not like it? His is bone stock, no rom, no root, no unlock.

oem? huh?
and his is stock, but does have a rom. if it didt, it wouldnt ever leave the google screen, the screen when you just power the device on. even stock, is a rom.
Assuming he is going from 5.0.1 to Tmobile 5.1 you would need to flash all of the stock 5.0.1 files (bootloader, radios, rom etc.). If it was my dad (R.I.P.) I would tell him there is nothing you could do because if he's all about the stock experience he probably won't appreciate you messing with his phone.

That said, someone here better capture the OTA and share it!

I'm hoping the source drops quickly so we can get some fixes in place for the brightness bug on the other ports.
Filet hope it does come out tomorrow, the deb's have been waiting for this and hopefully they will give us a fixed port in gingerbread-->Sense 3.0
This is great news. We might start seeing Warm Gingerbread soon

xHausx, I have 2 EVOs, 1 rooted and other stock. Since I read this thread I have tried to manually update a couple of times and it indicates no update available yet. Will keep trying over the next several days and post back when successful.
Definitely not going to manually or automatically OTA update my rooted EVO.

To me, it's like going to the Doctor for a health problem, and getting great results from his prescribed treatment, then someone tells you about some new trendy cure, and without even asking your doc, you just jump on the bandwagon....
Why would people have not come here and checked with the experts for just taking the OTA, I will never figure out.
So is there a stock root for 2.3 yet? I am rooted on a stock kernal of Froyo right now and would like to go to 2.3 but only if I can keep root.
Did you get a popup or something notifying you (and allowing you the choice to install it or not)? I have a friend with a rooted phone, and I gave her the warning not to install it if she got warning.
If it installs automatically, I guess she's out of luck for wireless tethering for a while (and not going to be happy about it).

I think the point is you're posting on an enthusiast board about a stock update that has nothing to do with rooting. Why would anyone here care about that, most people have been running some form of GingerBread for months now. So to post about an OTA which every single customer gets, and then wondering why people are making fun is really just strange.
I accepted the OTA and still have full root.

You seem to be making this out to be a bigger deal than it is. You made a somewhat (unintentionally) funny post, a few people had laughs and the discussion evolved from there. There's not much reason to get upset over it.

I didn't say you posted in the rooted section, because there is no such thing. I said you posted on a phone enthusiast board, as in xda-developers. All I'm saying is it's a bit strange for you to get worked up that people found your post funny, or had joking comments. I wasn't mocking, simply stating why people were mocking.
If I had actually been throwing out insults you would have known it.

Is this carrier dependant, or do all Canadian devices get it first? Today I got a Moto X from an eBay seller in Canada and the software seems to indicate it's localised to Canada somewhat (system version has a .CA at the end, for example).
Location and the provider you're using the Rogers phone with won't matter, the update will work anywhere on any provider as it is based only on the current firmware version and to a lesser degree on the unique serial number of the phone.(updates generally released to serial number ranges at first as a test)

What is implied here is that not all will update because some are meant for lollipop. Also yes some may update because it may be able to run on both versions.

As for the apps in the OP, if a little time is taken to read through the information about any specific app generously supplied by Android Police/APK Mirror, it is stated what the Minimum Android Version is needed to run that particular app. :highfive::good:

Don't care what you want to call it and I have read every post on this forum about the camera. I have also used other cameras on high end phones and it doesn't do what the turbo does. Damn dude. Get off your high horse.

not yet:crying:
Sprint devices use different firmware. When a new update rolls out for Sprint devices firmware will be updated, also.

that page doesn't always get updated in a timely matter...if you go to the specific Sprint HTC 10 page, it's usually updated before the rom downloads page....and even then, the device specific page sometimes is updated late & sometimes even early.
I would think we would be seeing the 1.9x update soon...if anyone sees the ota, hit me up!

Yeah; I'm installing it now while sitting here at work. Doesn't seem like much to sneeze at. Will say that I'm glad to be around you guys again. Had to finally retire the M7. lol
