[Q] I9515 Not Charging - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Galaxy S4 I9515 Black Edition, KitKat 4.4.2, stock rom and not Rooted.
I bought this phone new 6 months ago. I charged my phone completely yesterday and used it till midnight when its charging got 0%. I put it on charging whole night but I saw it that it was not charging. I left it for whole and night and saw it next day. I turned on my phone and it was 54% charged. I was using original charger that came with phone. I put it on charging again, it showed that it was charging but actually it was discharging. I installed battery monitor app to check it. It showed: Usb connected and discharging. Battery health was good. I used another charger of nexus 7 (2012) but it did the same. Showing that it was charging but it was actually discharging. The current sign on battery is black as it should be.
I think battery is not working well. I restarted phone. Took out battery and put it in. Still same. There is no physical change on battery. I am thinking to change the battery. It won't turn on now.
What do you suggest guys?

It still in warranty if you bought it new 6 months ago. Fix or replace it in the store that you took it.

Well its imported and it has no warranty. What do you think will be the problem? What will be the cost of repairing? Another option is that I will sell it.

I reset my phone via recovery. Now its not charging with any charger. No sign of charging. What is the problem??? Please Help....

It could be the mainboard or USB port. You can change the USB port manually following this little GUIDE or going to one service center store.

software related?

It could be a lot of software running on your phone bogging your cpu. Hold home button swipe away running apps. Open task manager and clear memory.
Then go to android settings, more, battery and look at what is using the most power.

its possible that your phones charger may be shot or the connections may be dirty probaby more on the dirty side clean it with a q tip

So, I sent my phone to repair centre and they said that the crystal ic in it is not working. I will be fixed from the Samsung Centre. Now I am going to send it there. Lets hope it gets fixed.

Invalid Battery issue

I need help getting my Motorola Atrix to charge up the battery. When I plug in the charger the following message pops up in a box, " /!\ Invalid Battery
Your device battery is invalid and cannot be charged.
Replace the battery with an original Motorola battery."
I have the original Motorola Atrix battery that it came with originally. Problem occured out of nowhere. I cleared data/cache, rebooted phone, flashed different roms, took out battery then put it back in, used RSD Lite to flash back to stock 4.1.83 Atrix via sbf file but nothing worked.
Any fix for this?
Still can't figure out the problem.
Maybe need check warranty I use an chinese battery, and I did not get that message.

If you have any warranty left, take it in. Most places don't even question battery problems and will give you a new one.
If not you could always order a cheap battery online and see if that fixes your issue. Or order a battery charger and spare battery. for $10, it's a pretty cheap fix if it works.

argggg ....you don't have an original charger ....
I have this probleme with a htc charger......with original one work great, don't boot
I've used my wifes HTC charger many times and never had any problems. If you are on AT&T call them and ask them to send you a new battery. They sent new one because my battery life sucked for free. Took about 5 days to get it.

i have the same problem but you had this for a long time ago
i purchased two extra batteries from ebay, and upon putting it into the phone it gave me the 'invalid battery' use original from moto.
i fixed it by clearing the battery stats using the batterycalibration app. i think every time i swap batteries i need to do this, as i got the message again when i changed out my dead battery for the second charged one.

My phone charges only during the day!!

Itz weird. I'm facing this problem since the last 3 days.
What happens is, my phone does not get charged during the evening or the night. I plugged it in the AC socket, I can see the red light and the battery indicator on the status bar also shows the charging animation. But the battery percentage just does not increase!!
Like, for instance, yesterday night, I tried to charge my phone and it did not get charged. It discharged fully. Today morning, at around 9am, I kept it to charge in the same socket and it charged (upto 100%). And just now, (itz 5:48 pm here) I tried to charge it through the same socket and itz not getting charged. WTF!!
P.S. I'm running CM7 build 16 (or probably 15). I am using this build since it was released.
HTC Wildfire
I think you should calibrate the battery. If still problem persist then my suggestion will be to get a new battery. Because this problem has been asked in Q&A a long days ago. Don't remember the subject line though

1st remove battery wait for sometime later insert it and try to charge ur phone through PC. It might work, else go to clockworkmod > advance > wipe battery > restart. This might work.
I tried that.
BTW, today my phone got charged usinng another charger. Itz still weird. My charger works inn my college but not at my home.. LoL
I think buying a new battery and keeping it as spare is the best alternative.

Best thing I ever bought was a spare battery and a universal (so I can use it when I upgrade too) battery charger that you clip a battery into, I never have to worry about battery life as no matter how hard I hammer it, my spare is always charged first.

[Q] Battery charged but showed 0% ?

My gf said her N7 showed a 0% charge even though 2 hours earlier she had a 60% charge. She then plugged it in and restarted, then it showed a 60% charge again.
Any ideas what may be wrong?

Not likely. Battery stats has absolutely nothing to do with reported charge level. Wiping it will have the same effect as clearing his market search history... None at all.

Are you using the charger that came with the Nexus 7? 'Cause the same thing happened to me last month. I used a charger I got from ebay, plugged it in, charged all day, came back, unplugged it, turned on & said it was in the red!
Same thing happened to me shortly after I had the N7.... and that was with using the supplied mains charger and cable.
All I did was leave it alone for a further hour and when I then went back to check the screen it had jumped all of 13%.
I was tempted to return the N7 but as it was night and I couldn't return it I left it on charge overnight...... The following morning it was 100% charged.
Since then it's been charged dozen's of times and not once been a problem since (says he touching wood).
My problem is that it wont show that its charging even tho it is. Tried all chargers i have and even the stock one is same. Was going to return it but all the horror stories I've heard i decided not going to bother. Chances are i get a worse unit back. Personally it looks like the connector is not going all the way in. I am going to shave some of the plastic off and see if that helps. Anyway I think Google needs better quality control at Asus and even at Samsung, i remember how my Gnex was packaged.

im running aokp JB build 2 and everytime i turn it on, the little battery icon says for example "54%" and on the lock screen it says "100%"
kinda strange. I was about to ask if it was rooted also, but someone did that before me, so im lost for words

Fast charging issue

Hi guys,
I recently brought a new Note 4 two weeks ago and its awesome, but 2 times this week now I've stuck the phone on charge to get a boost & the fast charge facility has not kicked in.. meaning its only charged about 20% in 30minutes.
If I restart the Note it seems to correct itself but it is a bit frustrating that the phone is less than a month old and 1 of its main selling points isn't working properly.
I have got a sm-n910f running Lollipop 5.0.1
My phones not rooted and I usually clear open apps before sticking the phone on charge.
Fast charge is toggled on. Can anyone give me any suggestions to what might fix this?
I put this query into the battery thread this morning but didnt get a response, so apologies for clogging up the forum but I am hopeful that some genius on Xda can give me some help here [emoji3]
Thanks for your help
Fast chargin is working only till 50% If you are more than 50, then it is charging with normal speed.
Thanks @Matin.salat I know this. When put my phone on charge at 15% and went to check it 20-25 minutes later it had only crept up 9% to 24%
do you get the "adaptive fast charger" (or something like that) notification when you plug it in? are you using the supplied cable? power only cables do not work with quick charge; needs to be data+power.
AFAIK Fast Adaptive charging only works if you have the specific adapter (charging block) that is capable of it. Are you using the original charger that came with the Note 4?
Below is a link to the part on samsung's website;

Hope that helps.

Yep using the correct charger and usb cable that comes with it. I chucked my phone on charge at 14% at 17:45 today. Went to grab my phone at 20:00 and its only at 43% charged.
I'll be taking it back and replacing it tomorrow or sunday.. I must have a faulty handset!!!

Hey.. I am using a SM-M910C. I had a similar problem just like you. My device is just 4 months old. Fast Charging used to work properly until a week back suddenly I noticed that it wasnt charging fast. Just like you mentioned, it was charging extremely slow. I checked everything to find out whether the problem was with the phone, power brick or cable. I borrowed my friends cable and tried it on and voila it was working fine. It was showing fast charger connected in notifications. So then I remember that, I had used the same charger and cable to charge my Power Bank before that. And I clearly remember the cable being hot at the time when I removed it. So figured that the cable got burnt off or something. Because the cable needs to have a particular resistance in order to support fast charging. Went and bought a new authentic cable and now fast charging is working as it used to. Never gonna charge the power bank with it anymore.
Hope this helps. Cheers!

Three days ago, my phone stopped taking a charge.
Thought it was the charging port.
Yesterday, it was charging but not actively adding battery percentage, ie charged for an hour; still at 8%.
Thought it might be something with fast charge.
change settings. no change.
did a factory reset. no change.
tried a spare battery. no change.
used another spare battery that was charged. watched the battery life drain.
turned phone off. plugged into charge. now the battery icon and the safestrap boot screen are alternating but it takes a charge very slowly. but not while powered on. and the battery is no longer draining so fast.
I guess the next thing to do is reinstall system?
any other suggestions before I do that?
Did you try a different charger and cable?
