Help, cant flash lollipop roms and TWRP won't update [VZW] - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i was trying to flash a lollipop rom on my vs980 verizon lg g2, and it sent me into boot loops, specifically crdroid rom and blisspop rom.
Now I noticed that i have TWRP ver. 2.8.1.2 and can not flash any updated TWRP zip files, nor can i use any of the apps that attempts this (rom manager, twrp manager, flashify, etc.) in recovery i get the message: error executing updater binary in zip
Please any help would be appreciated,
Thank you.

[Q] What is the correct way to install TWRP on the LG G2 in 2015?

Hello,
sometimes I am reading that some users are installing TWRP via AutoRec.
But sometimes I am also reading that some users install Bump!ed versions of TWRP by simply flashing it directly via Flashify for example.
Are there any advantages/disadvantages comparing those methods?
Or would both give the same results?
What is currently considered the best way to install TWRP on the LG G2 when TWRP has not been installed yet?
Regards

It depends on the roms you will be using, if you're going to use a bumped ROM then using the latest stock base and flashing twrp though flashify is the cleanest method, but if the ROM you're using isn't bumped you need the jelly bean bootloader and thus should use autorec. Note that you can install bumped ROMs on the jelly bean bootloader but you CAN NOT install non bumped ROMs on the kitkat bootloader. If you are using a bumped setup and flash a non bumped ROM, it will boot loop. If you don't have a BUMPED ROM still on your storage, you will need to factory reset through download mode or fastboot (whichever you have, some flashable bootstacks purposefully break download mode to enable fastboot. I personally prefer download mode, if I can't get to an adb prompt I'd rather just flash a kdz).

Hey wq.
I very recently installed AutoRec on my D802, which has the latest 4.4.2 KK. It works flawlessly, and I recommend it. I believe the .apk installs TWRP 2.7.0.0, which has worked for me very well, and I have installed at least 15 different ROMs with it so far.
Hello,
thank you very much for your fast and detailed answers.
So, let's assume someone uses AutoRec to install TWRP for the first time on a LG G2, which only installs an old version of TWRP (version 2.7.0.0).
Which TWRP version should one then use to update to the latest version of TWRP?
Would you use the blastagator version from over there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/twrp-twrp-2-8-0-0-kernel-f2fs-tools-t2898705
Or would you use the official version from over there:
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/197
And how would you install it?
By simply booting into TWRP 2.7.0.0 (provided by AutoRec) and then from there flashing the latest TWRP zip file?
Regards

I wanted to flash cloudy rom which is bumped.
So i straight away used flashify to flash bumped recovery and then flashed the rom..
No autorec needed.
I flashed blastgator's twrp with thermal control.

[Q] ls980 custom ROM loading issues

Currently I am running a LG G2 LS980 4.4.2 zvd. Rooted via stumproot. Twrp rrecovery 2.8.5.1. I also am running affliction custom rom found in the sprint lg g2 section. The problem i am having its that when I try to load a different custom rom I always get stuck in boot loop. I always do a full wipe and factory reset. I have tried liquidsmooth, blisspop, cm12, validus and a couple others, always gets stuck in boot loop. Today i did a full wipe again and installed affliction Rom again and it worked but the others still won't. I have also tried to downgrade my radio to zv8 or zv7 since that has been recommended on some threads i have read, but the files i downloaded off of a link found in here say they are corrupt when i try to load them and it doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to help me?
Hello, it sounds like you might have the wrong bootloader. You need a zv8 radio/modem and a jb bootloader for aosp lollipop ROMs.
So i downloaded zv8 radio zip from a link shared in another thread. Do you know another source for those? How do I change my bootloader? I have tried looking for that but have not had much luck.
Google "LG G2 modem" and the first result should be a xda thread with all the modems for all the modems for all the lg g2 variants. Download the ls980 zv8 modem. For the bootloader you need an app called autorec. Google "LG G2 autorec" and download autorec for the ls980 and run the app. Make sure you have the twrp 2.8.5.1 zip on your device because autorec also installs twrp 2.7.0.0 which is old. Just go to recovery and flash 2.8.5.1 to update twrp.
I will try to get new zip for zv8. Autorec is how i got twrp on my phone. I have upgraded twrp to 2.8.5.1. Although autorec does not show up in my app list currently, maybe when i installed affliction rom that app left by i kept twrp.
So i reinstalled autorec and upgraded twrp to the most current. I also redownloaded the zip for zv8 modems. When i try to install zv8 zip in twrp but it tells me the zip is corrupt and will not load.....

Phones boots into recovery every single time after flashing. [SM-A500F]

Hi guys, I faced some trouble while installing xposed with my galaxy A500F.
Here are the problem, my phone keep on boot into recovery (twrp) when i flashed any zip files except the root file recommended by this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/development/recovery-samsung-galaxy-a52015-sm-a500f-t3360802 .
I have tried other TWRP and Cynogen Recovery which is still the same. This one from the link which at least let me boot into normal.
The only method for me to boot into normal is to flash to the stock firmware via odin which then I need to reroot, reinstall twrp and try to figure out is there any other method with.
Restoring backup are not working as well for twrp which still boot back to the recovery. Some flash files, which event better ( this refer to the deodex http://forum.xda-developers.com/sam...nt/deodex-deodexed-samsung-galaxy-a5-t3232134 ) which stuck in that samsung loding screen while booting.
Any help would be thankful

Hello:
- First, TWRP to use and it is the only one that does not give me trouble installing ROMs Marshmallow (as Resurrection Remix, AICP or CM13) is the v3.0.0.1 of mygalaxya (download here). Steps for install: here
- Second, if you are in ROM Stock 5.0.2 and just want TWRP to install Xposed, I recommend using the v2.8.7 (here) does not give problems at all, although no use to install ROMs Marshmallow.
- Third, it is not necessary deodex the ROM to install Xposed, since there is a modified version of Xposed that works perfectly both as Deodex and Odex ROMs, you can download it from here.
If after using TWRP 3.0.0.1 (or higher) and enters Recovery restart always, I recommend the v2.8.7 flash on it for a normal boot.
I hope the information is usefull. :good:
