This is my port of TWRP recovery for the Sprint and Cellular South snapdragon version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5.
I don't own this device nor does it have a device tree, so has took a fair bit of doing and many hours to get this working.
Didn't seem fair for the Sprint owners to be left out of the development scene, so made this for them and to give something back to the community.
Thanks to jono1767 for his fearless testing, pinky059 and DUHAsianSKILLZ for providing me with needed files and support. Oh and the missus for putting up with me spending hours on the PC.

Flash with latest version of Odin:
ODIN 3.10.6
Always wanted a snapdragon tab S! Glad you got a recovery going. Hopefully they can get some ROMs!
Be great to get some custom roms now and other tweaks and apps.now.will try to work on that next.

Can't thank you enough for all the hard work and effort you put in to a device you don't even own. I've had this tablet since September and have been waiting patiently for someone to put together a root and recovery for this awesome device. I know for a fact that 6 or 7 months ago a lot of people were *****ing about not having root for the tab s from Sprint. I'm glad I hung around XDA and kept following any progress whatsoever with the device.
many thanks to you and all the testers that made this all possible. I for one am very grateful

unofficial twrp 2.8.5.0 for Samsung galaxy tab S SM-T807P
I know this thread is a little old. But maybe I can get lucky with an answer. I just got my Samsung galaxy tab S SM-T807P ( Came with lollipop 5.0.2 ) . Already rooted with cf auto root. I would like to install the unofficial twrp 2.8.5.0 with the latest Odin. Just need some reassuring that this works. Maybe if I can get some feed back I would greatly appreciate it.

all went well, but I never got the twrp icon. Do I just download from play store. This is soo cool. Everyone of devices rooted, ecstatic. Thanks
What do you mean twrp icon? Twrp isn't an app so it doesn't have an icon.
If you are referring to the app called twrp manager, that is a separate app, not officially related to twrp recovery.
thanks for everything

I got it. I was hoping to get Xposed. But no luck.

(My phone is still running stock room, rooted, and with twrp)
So I was just about to flash a custom rom on my note since I learned that I can flash some t-mobile rom on my canadian (Bell) variant if I also flash a certain kernel(Only AEL and star[sumtin] I think) .
When I go to my recovery, I see on the bottom of the screen: dm-verity verificatoin failed.
I did a lot of research and didn't found anything, except some vague mention of that when bootloop are occuring.
So I don't know what I should do, if I can still flash anything without any worries, or should I unroot my note and flash the stock unrooted rom?
Can I still continue what I was doing and flash the custom rom and kernel I wanted to flash?
Another small question: I remember before rooting my note I had a software update available. I decided to root it first thinking I could do the update after (stupid I know), but I couldn't no more (I got a message about using a modified version or something like that). Is it important? Should I unroot my note, update the stock software, then root it again? And I guess if I flash another custom rom it's insignificant right?
thanks in advance! If I'm posting that because I really searched and found nothing satisfactory and clear, also bear with me I'm not perfectly bilingual.
It sounds like the custom rom you downloaded got corrupted, or just isn't compatible with your device. Try downloading again, and see if that works.
As for the update, now you are rooted you can no longer get any OTA updates. Most if not all custom roms will be using the latest builds. If you want to flash a completely stock (updated) rom, sammobile.com is where you need to be. But you will have to root the device afterwards.

Same problem for me. Was on completely stock rom until today but hated the lack of control so tried a custom rom. I've been a flashaholic for years so thought I'd have no problem but how wrong I was. First I tried TWRP recovery several times but kept getting stock recovery. I then tried Philz CWM but got even more problems including "dm-verity verification failed". I am fairly new to KitKat as I tried it on my note 1 but didn't like it. I am really angry that the stock rom prevents me installing bloatware and restricts access to my Sd card.
Have now managed to root and install clockwork mod and Echo rom and all seems to be working now

That´s what I finally did. Couldn´t resolve it in any other way.
After that I installed TWRP instead of CWM and also used another root-method as before. (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2oOvf5tOCY) Since then the problem is gone.
Do you think I can just run Odin and install twrp without refreshing to stock rom first?
I dint even know if it's possible to switch to twrp after installing cwm without A fresh start lol
Might give it a go when I have a few hours to re set up the phone haha
Thanks for your help though!

I don´t know whether you can flash twrp after installing cwm, but I doubt it would solve your problem anyway.
Well, you could try. In the worst case you can still go back to stock.

Another thing you could do is, ask Rkrishnamurthy from this thread, what he finally flashed on his 910G-model? http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=325832927
He might have flashed the N910F-recovery on his N910G.
Or ask Aamirleo55 from this thread, what he did with his N910G: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...rp-2-8-1-0-t2923509/post56392220#post56392220

I reflashed last night to stock. and then re-rooted, and installed CWM. But after i do all the SUPERSU updates and Xposed Framework, my DM Verity Fails again!!!
This really suck, because essentially i wont be able to backup, restore and flash my phone like i use to on the note 3......
I seriously hope 910F TWRP recovery is the answer.

Ok
So I decided to download the latest CF Auto root and I found that the TRLTEDT corresponds with the SM-N910G - http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
TRLTEDT correspondents to the India TWRP recovery - http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/266
SM-N910G also corresponds to India, Singapore, Sri Lanka and obviously Australia (where i am based) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/galaxy-note-4-versions-cpu-t2883741
So in theory i should probably use that one.

Sorry for the bad link. I tried to find it again, but also couldn´t. If you wanted, you could still send him a private message.
When I had the DM-verity issue, I also reflashed to stock, installed CWM and rooted again, and got the same problem again. Just as you. Only when I used TWRP it worked for me and the DM-verity problem didn´t occur since then.
For backup you could at least make a Titanium-backup, which in the paid version even allows you to create a flashable .zip-file from all your backupped apps & settings. This is a very convenient way of re-installing everything, almost like a nandroid-backup.
Or if you are brave enough you could try flashing TWRP-recovery directly over your current CWM. I don´t know whether that works, but as long as you can get into download-mode, you will always find your way back to stock.

Mate! It worked.
So for anyone with DM-Verity Verification failed, simply install the appropriate TWRP recovery over it and it will fix your problem.
also SM-N910G is compatible with the TWRP Recovery for Inidia (even though it does not say it is)
So hap this fixed my problems and big thanks to Parinibbana for all the assistance.

If the bootloader has not been incremented, we'll be able to regain root on NK2 once there's an ODIN flashable NK2 kernel. So basically, I don't believe it's possible just yet.

Everytime I try to download towelroot (both on my computer and on my GS5), the .apk is blocked as a virus package.
The S5 really doesn't like the website for towelroot, and google searches for the apk also get blocked by Symantec. Has this apk been compromised or has it contained a Trojan all along?
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Wow, even Dropbox kills the file...
After I disabled my antivirus (Symantec) and tried to restore the file, I get security errors ALL OVER THE PLACE on my desktop computer.
*** UPDATE ***
Well, I was able to get tr.apk onto my SDcard and then successfully obtain root!
I don't know what the issue is with towelroot, but my clock on my desktop was reset and the internet time server could not correctly rsynch the time; I had to manually reset the time.
It's pretty scary when this happens...I don't know if it is a false positive Trojan detection or what, but I sure hope somebody more knowledgeable has reverse engineered the tr.apk and validated that it is safe!
OH Well, thanks everybody. Keeping fingers crossed!!!
I Can't wait to get a fully unlocked Nexus 6 (and hopefully prevent VZ from locking it like they try with the Developers Edition devices)!!! Maybe its time to switch carriers.

Not true...I was able to root a brand new GS5 NK2 using the described procedure (with hesitation from downloading Towelroot). If ODIN is failing it means something is wrong with your flashing procedure. Try another computer/cable and make sure that whatever you are using has the Samsung USB drivers installed.
For reference I used ODIN v. 3.0.7 instead of the latest version.

Discovered why I could not Odin the firmware, that people tried to assist me. Well wish I could come up with a complicated reason why it was not working, but my own fault,
I never put phone in "download" mode. That's why it was failing. It worked now. Thanks all that helped me..
Hey just got my edge today, looks like there is very little going on as it was just released a few days ago despite it being out in the states for quite some time, the only difference I believe is the LTE in the Canadian version.
Anyways, coming from the note 2, 3 and 4 and the trtlecan version always being close to the trtletmo I decided to risk it and flash the tmo cf auto root and recovery despite there being no stock firmware laying around on sammmobile the others..
annnd I'm happy to report that I now have a TWRP recovery, rooted, SM-N915W8.
go ahead and follow the very detail steps in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993
MAKE SURE TO READ THE PART ABOUT IT FAILING (to flash cwm) AND THAT BEING OK being flashing TWRP
and then the BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS inside recovery which will look like you have sleep lock if you don't fix them before letting the screen timeout
and have all 4 files on hand before you start!
Awesome, thanks for the info, I was debating it but just was being a chicken. I'm glad everything worked out. Did you make a nand? If so did you flash the nand just to make sure everything was OK? Are your root apps working without issues.? I don't mind taking the risk...just wanna be sure

Awesome glad it worked out for you too, now we can experiment with which kernel and os will boot without fear of bricking
Yes, I tried reflashing the backup and all is good.
Hyperdrive didn't work even with restoring our boot sector (kernel)

Anyone try any T-Moble stuff? I didnt look myself but I ask because we all used the tmoble stuff for our old Canadian Note3s ... could be the same senerio. I think that Tmoble kernels should work..
There might be a version of Hyperdrive for tmoble..

What recovery are you using cause Im on twrp and I cant make a backup, cache partition cant be mounted either, are you having this prob too?....
Dont worry about it, someone else who had this problem fixed it by formatting cache - did that and everything went fine.

Tried flashing Hyperdrive Edge for T-Mo with both twrp (2.8.1.1) and cwm (6.0.5.1 Xiaolu) referenced in the root guide by OP. They flashed without error but I got bootlooped both times. Luckily backup/restore works for both recoveries.
Does anyone know of a way to get back to stock recovery after flashing cwm or twrp? Any known location of a stock image?

Go to sammobile web site...download the original firmware for your model and flash it. When u flash original firmware everything will be back to stock including recovery..and you will be able to receive ota update. To flash stock firmware...just use odin. Search this forum for instruction on how to flash using odin.

Yeah I know about sammobile, flashing via Odin etc. There's no stock firmware uploaded for the Canadian variants yet so I was wondering of an alternate method to flash the stock recovery. I tried extracting the recovery from the stock image via ADB shell, converting to tar.md5, then flashing with Odin but it failed....likely because I'm rooted. Guess I'll have to wait until the firmware gets uploaded. Thanks anyway.
Try contacting the sammobile team...and their forum..they maybe able to help..

Not yet. I check daily. I'm hoping someone will be able to capture it via Kies when Lollipop rolls out. It's only matter of time before sammobile gets it.

Arg, that really bites. Now I have a new phone I cant use at all. You'd think the firmware would be released when the phone was. Have you tried the other roms? I can't even gwt onto my internal sd to put them on the phone so I can try installing them. So frustrated.

If you can find a stock firmware and TWRP, let me know. This is why I love my Note 4 and Tab 4 10.1.

It came with 5.0.1 and none of the "working methods" work at all including yours. It just sits there saying "waiting for device" after it pushes 3 files to it then it reboots and just sits there.
Nevermind I got it...just need TWRP to make a custom recovery for it.
So, has anyone found a working custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) for Sprint version yet, LK430?
I've been scouring all over for this and there seems to be nothing yet. Every other variant of the tablet seems to have some way to get this except for the lk430... I wish I had more time to contribute but it seems like someone needs to contribute a little more time to be able to at least patch what's out there to make this happen...
I can tell you DO NOT attempt to put a v410 recovery on this as it will not work...
I don't even really care to have cellular service on this and am just looking to put CM on it.
Hey . I'm trying to update the modem & bootloader for my phone. However, I don't know where the modem is. I have 3 files. I suspect the BL_N9005XXUGBPB2_BOOTLOADER.tar goes into BL?
And then AP_N9005XXUGBPB2_RECOVERY.tar and AP_N9005XXUGBPB2_KERNEL.tar.md5 go into AP? Is one of these the modem driver?
In what order should I do this? Especially the 2 AP files... I'm confused about those .
I would like to also mention that my device is currently rooted, uses TWRP. I want to update to a newer TWRP and then from Android 4.4 to Android 5. I suspect that flashing a new recovery and a new kernel will mean that I also have to do that once I've updated my device's modem.
Thank you in advance!
If you download a stock ROM from Sam mobile.com, unzip it to get a tar.md5 file which is flashed in the PDA slot of Odin 3.07. This method takes the guess work out of trying to figure out what goes where.
Uh, I don't really get it. I don't have a stock ROM nor do I want one. I want to install latest modem / bootloader so then I can install an Android 5 ROM.
The recovery and kernel is stock ones so don't need it. But still you have to find a modem. There is a thread in general section.

Care to link? . There are very many threads about modems in the search result. Becomes very difficult to find what you're looking for sometimes

I do love it when you guys make it difficult for me . Really, I do. I mean, you'd do ANYTHING to NOT post a link . I'm honestly not being sarcastic. But I am amused nevertheless. I did search but I will repeat: there is SO much information that I can't be sure WHAT is correct. I've already been here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/direct-download-bootloaders-modems-t3258803
That's why I even started this topic.
I hope somebody will have the mercy to REALLY read what I ask and come up with a good answer, not vaguely-interested pointers into some vague direction.
I appreciate the time spent here by anybody, I've donated to this community and will gladly continue to do so! You guys rock. And I do appreciate even the vaguely-interested replies .
Yes this is it.

No worries bro.
You don't need to bother about these two files. Because, none of these is of your use. You are going to try a different ROM from the stock. Hence, you don't need to install Stock Kernel and Recovery. You need custom kernel which either comes with the ROM or you have to adopt a different one according to your need. As you have rooted your phone, you just need to install TWRP Manager from Play store to update your recovery, give it root access and install 2.8.7.0 recovery which is totally reliable at this point. I think it is explanatory enough
