[Invite]Activate WhatsApp Calling Feature In Some seconds. - Android Software Development

The latest WhatsApp feature is generating a lot of duplicate threads on XDA, drowning other threads in the process. Many are also posted in the wrong section. We're closing down all invite threads to keep the clutter down to a minimum. Instead, please use The Consolidated WhatsApp Calling Thread as a consolidated thread for all discussions related to the WhatsApp calling feature and invites. Thank you!

[APP] Balanced - Silent USSD balance checker and typowidget XDA Beta

Hi guys! Fahrbot Mobile would like to invite Desire users to participate in our open beta of Balanced, an app that uses USSD commands to obtain useful info like account balance, number of free sms, minutes and traffic remaining.
It then silently parses the replies into beautiful minimalistic text widgets. We need beta testers on phones we dont have at the office, so please come and check out the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1006487
awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Im glad you like it! We will have some very unique functionality after the RC in the commercial version.
Hello. After the update some days ago I can't add a properly working widget to the desktop. Just have the caption and nothing more. Before the update everything was ok. Is there any detailed instruction how to use Balanced now?
You might have to add the widgets again.
As for detailed instructions, we have decided not to include them as people never read them anyway.
What exactly do you need help with?
ftgg99, I sent a pm with screenshots to explain.
Thanks, ill look into it - but its a strange error that probably has something to do with your setup, because my own Desire HD is running the app perfectly.
I am on cm6 though...
I also use Desire HD with stock firmware but rooted. My friend has the same issue and also and Desire HD with stock firmware but not rooted.
Hi, could you please send me a logcat of the error? Please follow these instructions:
What you need to do is:
1. Download aLogcat from the market
2. Run aLogcat
3. Reproduce your error in Balanced
5. Go into aLogcat and pause
6. Use the share menu to send the resulting text either to [email protected] or via PM here at XDA
Thanks!
I dii it. Sent the log from zel***@gmail.com
New update - beta extended!
Beta has been extended again, please send us some useful logs and suggestions on improving the app!
i dont know why, but it keeps draining my credit by sending hundreds of message to the person i personally do with the same content. the only way to stop it is by uninstalling it. i set it to check my balance after every outgoing phone call and message, and also every time i tap the widget. but the concept and interface is superb, would like to see this problem solved
Mate, the app doesnt send anything. USSD requests dont cost you money. Your problem is something else entirely.
Or youre a troll/ the competition...

oh believe me, im not a troll, and i can't code for ****. i searched around too, and it looks like i'm the only one having this problem. anyway, maybe you're right, the problem is something else entirely but the reason I suspected the application was the problem is because the draining started when i set the widget up and ended when i uninstalled the application. i apologize if i tainted the image of your app in any way.
Dont worry, i wasnt offended, just tired of fighting an uphill battle.
Imagine getting hundreds of crash logs from people with no root trying to use Root Call Blocker. Then they send angry emails. Finally they leave 1 star reviews.
Anyway, this should cheer you up:

Root Call blocker testers needed!

Hello guys, im the developer of Root Call Blocker, an advanced call and SMS blocking app for rooted phones.
The app is currently in open beta here at XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051274
I dont have a Desire and need testers! Please let me know if you are interested in some hard-core testing and logging...
Updated, let me know if your issues are fixed please!
Hi guys, any feedback on the latest version of the app? We are just about to release an update...
Its working very well. Surely a must-have for rooted phones.
Good to know - any feedback? Suggestions?
In any case, outstanding issues have been fixed. Please update to 1.5.5 and let me know if your issues are solved. Its important we get some feedback guys!
Im on 159 and its been working flawlessly for a month or so!
We have just made lots of additions, Update please if you havent already please!
1.6.2 is the latest build!
App has been updated! Let me know if it fixes issues youve been having please!
This is awesome!
Enjoy... and remember, an update is always just around the corner! If you have problems, use "Write to us" in Settings!
Could you guys please test the following behavior for me:
1. How the app behaves when a blocked number attempts to connect during call waiting
2. How a blocked caller is handled when "Dont answer" is set as the reject method and you are currently on the phone and have not enabled blocked call vibrate notifications within the app itself
Dont forget to send logs with descriptions as well
Come on people, i really need some feedback on this!
Nothing to report then?
Nope - no news is good news
Thanks, could you please test the behavior i described above?
Come on, i need feedback!
Hows it going guys? Any issues?
Guys, an update has been rolled out. It contains an important new workaround thast needs to be tested.
It may help those people who have data issues, especially on LTE enabled phones sometimes.
Please help me test this by installing the app, rebooting and waiting for data to return with the screen on. Please wait 3 minutes at least before sending logs via "Write to developer" in the app.
Dont forget to include a description. Thanks!
ill install it tom, will post findings shortly

Whatsapp notification woes driving me crazy!

So after being a long time apple user and long time iTunes hater ... I managed to sell my iphone 4 and bought a samsung galaxy S4, did the same for my other half...
Keep in mind, this is a brand new, no-root, default phone.
The issue basically is notifications, for whatsapp ( at the moment since I haven't set up anything else that requires push, besides gmail). The issue is once I turned the screen off, either manually or by itself. whatsapp notifications randomly stop arriving until I turned on the screen, completely close the app and open it again, the same goes for 2 other devices ( 3 in total), this happens with wifi or mobile data
Device #1. new s4,
Device #2 new s4
Device #3 Samsung galaxy young running 4.1.2 JB.
Now, device #3 belongs to a friend of mine who told of these issues a couple of months ago, however I did pay attention as I just figured it was network connection or wifi or whatever be it.
I've googled the hell out of this and it is apparently an android issue:
it's not telco related in my case, because i had NO ISSUES on my iphone 4 nor my best half's 4s.
Anyway, hopefully someone here has been through something similar and been able to fix it? I've searched the forums and there's apparently a widespread issue, but not fix as of 4.2.2?
New to the forum, I originally posted this here

I emailed whatsapp support, got and automated response, i'll post if I get any updates

Hi,
I just recently switched to a samsung galaxy s4 ( two actually, one for me,
one for GF), before that we used iphone 4 and 4s, never had an issue with
whatsapp notifications until I switched this passed friday. The issue is
once the phone goes into sleep mode, be it mobile data or wifi, I have to
force close the app and open again to receive notifications that I got
hours ago if I don't continously check.
I've googled the hell out of it and found your FAQ, as well as plenty other
sites with the same issue except no solution.
From your FAQ:
1. tried re-installing directly from direct download link (
http://www.whatsapp.com/android/current/WhatsApp.apk) and not from play
store
2. tried rebooting.
3. notifications are set properly
4. google+ is disabled ( hangouts) ( tried enabling it, same result)
5. Wifi is set to always on.
Note this is on stock, brand new phones and apparently it's a wide spread
issue:

Sadly, both
Do you lock the screen while whatsapp is open? Or do you choose whatsapp and then lock the screen?
If whatsapp is still running and on the screen, and you lock the screen, it's like the app just stops checking.. I've had this with multiple phones and its a whatsapp problem, not the phone.

So basically your solution was leave whatsapp on screen and push lockscreen?

No, the opposite. For me, whatsapp only worked and checked for msgs if i closed the app and then locked the screen. I would usually come back to the homescreen or something. But if i locked over whatsapp, it would stop checking or take a really long time.
But since you say you've done both, I'm kinda stumped.

Currently trying to installing .763, updated from .762, but whatsapp servers are probably getting busted as can't even verify my number.
Bro install Whatsapp+.
Google and download the apk, install and see if it helps.
If not, the only way is to root the S4 and install push notification fixer from play store. It modifies andriod to check for msges every 5mins. That will solve your problem for sure.

Hey mate,
I've probably tried all apps or methods by insanity to try getting this problem fixed. Unfortunately, nothing positive turned out.
Now I'm trying to off my screen when whatsapp is open, however, I still think it's unbelievably stupid to do so even if it works to get push notification. How can I go back to whatsapp whenever i wanna put the phone back in my jeans pocket? It then seems whatsapp would become the new homescreen?!?!?
Anyone got a real solution to this???
Also having this problem. Screen off, screen on - sometimes whatsapp just doesn't want to receive/send messages. Other times it's working properly.
Have you guys disabled Samsung Push? Have you disabled any system apps at all? Also, do you have the problem even when your phone has a good signal?
I'm also trying to find out the reason for this problem.

I do disable some system app like weather, finance and stuff like those. To me, what I can confirm is the independence of problem from the signal strength since I've been using the same service provider before upgrading to Jelly Bean and there used to be problem free with the push notification.
This is the result I got last night:
- open whatsapp -> close whatsapp -> homescreen -> screen off = no push
- open whatsapp -> close whatsapp -> free ram -> screen off = no push
- open whatsapp -> screen off = push
Conclusion:
- it is not related to free ram
- it is the problem that the andriod system turn off the app upon screen off (or sleep)
Plus.
I tried installing Push Notification Fixer to introduce "heartbeat" to maintain the connectivity, unfortunately, it DOES NOT work in my case.
Let's keep in view the development. At least we are not alone and hope either Whatsapp or Google can fix this.
Check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357417
It's a thread which guides you how to disable some allegedly useless google services in order to save battery life when idle. It works, but I think it might have been what's caused my whatsapp to go crazy. I even asked in the thread and some others have the same problem.
But if most other people in this thread haven't disabled said google services, that doesn't make any sense.
Mate. Trust me i know this issue exist on all andriod. i googled the hell out of it because i quarrelled with my partner a few times due to delay in replies. its just the way the kernel is written for stock andriod. you can try everything but it wont work. your only solution is to root and install push notification fixer from play store.

This isn't an issue with android it's an issue with whatsapp. Every android phone I've ever owned has had this issue with whatsapp. Whatsapp need to update their app so it still notifies if it was the last app open whilst the screen locks.
I just press home after I reply and let it lock its second nature to me. The bug is in whatsapp where if it is the last displayed whilst screen lock notifications don't work. You could try changing the conversation tone that might help.

That's wrong... It was perfectly fine, instantly receiving whatsapp messages in my phone no matter what. Something I've changed caused it to stop working.
My problem isn't only the notifications, it's the actual whatsapp messages aswell. Something killed the Whatsapp wakelocks, now my whatsapp isn't causing any wakelocks and when the phone is idle it does not check for messages.

[GUIDE] Dual Whatsapp for Dual Sim Note 5

Hey guys,
DISCLAIMER: I am by no means taking credit for this, I am just sharing what I found because I know how hard the information can be to find on the internet. As you should already know, you are always responsible for you own device
So we have dual sim phones? That means 2 phone numbers right? So why not 2 Whatsapp at the same time as well?
Well the idea hit me today that I needed another Whatsapp for my second number, so I went searching again for this information and just like searching for root for my N9208 dual sim, the information was all over the place with different ways of accomplishing it. Most of the result indicated that I needed root which I was ok with because I had root, but I thought about my fellow note 5 pees who didn't have root and I found one that was so easy and didn't need root.
1. You are going to download the original Whatsapp from the play store if you don't already have it, set it up with any of the number in your dual sim and make sure its working.
Note: Skip step one (1) if you already have the original Whatsapp setup
2. Next you are going to download Whatsmapp from here or the original site here.
3. Install the Whatsmapp apk as you would any other apk.
4. Setup the Whatsmapp with your second number in your dual sim
5. Profit
This information was accumulated by searching the web. My thanks goes out to all developers who help me to arrive this solution. If you, a developer come here and see a violation that I overlooked please inbox me and I will rectify it right away Thanks again
The better way is to install My Knox and just have two official WhatsApp apps running one in knox and one regular
Whatsmapp is a pita to keep updated
Thanks for sharing I am also using whatsmapp for less than a week so far so good. Let's keep this thread active.

Thank you thank you for the Knox idea.
I was trying to search for another Viber app so i could have both my viber accounts on the same phone since im on a dual sim phone
Now because of the Knox idea im able to have both my personal and business accounts for whatsapp and viber active at the same time.
Ill have to use my fingerprint to access the other account but thats a small price to pay.
Thank you very much again. This made my day

The easiest way if you are using a Note 5, and any Knox equipped Samsung phone, is to just use MyKnox. This gives you the option to not just run two separate WhatsApps (and original apps) but other apps as well (Telegram, Skype, etc..) seamlessly, and in a secure container (with quick access because you can use your fingerprint to auth between them). It's really quick, nice and easy.
Secondly, you do not necessarily have to have a Dual SIM. All you need at the time of setting those up is to insert the SIM you need to use, set up the app, then remove it. Of course this will work until you reset, or you could back up and restore using samsung cloud after reset. The other option is to use telephone call auth, since both whatsapp, telegram etc all can call the number to send you the auth PIN/code. So that number can technically be in a different phone than the one you are setting up.
This is the one REALLY lovely and cool feature that myknox has, and a real edge samsung has over the bunch (unfortunately not many users know this).

Thread: Text to speech in realtime pausing from phone call

I am developing an application for all devices however my threads are not working properly on the Samsung model so thats why im reaching out to you.
The application contains 2 main threads, 1th thread is the phone call. 2nd thread is speech to text in realtine from phone call.
When I run the apk on Samsung s7 it pauses the 2nd thread when I make a call and the thread continues when I cancel the call.
This apk works properly on Lenovo k3 Note but we need it to work on Samsung & other devices..
Why is this posted in this forum?

Maybe it will be also useful for you. I wanna recommend how to convert speech to text https://audext.com/speech-to-text/ It's when you are presented at any conference and don't want to write down anything. Just open your smartphone, find the audio from dictaphone and transcribe it into the text.
