Problem with flashing original KitKat (I-9505) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody!
Today i've bought SGS4 (I-9505) at liitle cost with one defect - after booting phone it enters Recovery Mode instead of running system.
It looks like this:
Android system recovery <3e>
KOT49H.I9505XXUFNB9
<standard recovery commands>
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Appling Multi-CSC. . .
Applied the CSC-code : O2U
Succesfully applied multi-CSC.

I thought it'll be a piece of cake, because i was solving a problems like this dozens of times on my S3, but in this case isn't so easy.
After flashing original KitKat (XXUFNB9) via ODIN it still enters recovery, not running system. Operation in ODIN finished with SUCCESS...
I thought that i'll try with some ROM, i 've succesfully installed PhilZ Touch Recovery and from there I flashed CyanogenMOD, but after reboot it still runs recovery..
The last idea which came to my mind was to identify CSC, find soft with this CSC and try to flash it via ODIN.
O2U is CSC from UK, so i've downloaded KitKat for UK, (I9505XXUEMK8_I9505O2UEMK1_I9505XXUEMK8_HOME.tar.md5)
started flashing in ODIN but it returns me FAIL.
Now, I don't have any other ideas..
Is there anyone who knows how to solve my problem?
I'll be very grateful )
P.S
Sorry for my English, I'm from Poland but i've tried to do my best
I hope that it won't be difficult to understand ^^

The correct Android 4.4.2 firmware for your device is here. The firmware you downloaded was for Android 4.3, and it likely did not install because this device's bootloader has been updated. You may also want to download the I9505 PIT file from the forums here, because you may need to use it in order to fix the issue you're having.
And your English is pretty damn good, so don't knock it.

You could also try flashing just the bootloader. Make sure you get the right one.
I faced such an issue and it was the bootloader.

[Q] Soft bricked after 4.4.2 update failed, please help.

Hey guys
I have a Hong Kong Note 3 N9005. Yesterday I flashed the 4.4.2 sammobile update to my phone using ODIN 3.09. I had auto reboot and f.reset ticked. The ROM was put in AP and I hit start. Then I received the error Invalid ext4 Image. Turns out that Hong Kong versions of the N3 cannot install European ROMs. Since then I have not been able to boot my device into android. I just loop into download mode telling me it detected a firmware update. Kies was no help.
The update DID update the bootloader, so now I cannot go back to stock ROM. I have tried a few things. I tried flashing the stock Hong Kong ROM MK1, it fails. So i found a guy that fixed a similar problem buy removing the aboot.mbn file and repacking the ROM. Tried that too and the ROM flashes but it leaves me in a bootloop. Phone turns on says booting recovery then restarts. I also tried cf-root in an effort to flash another ROM still not working. I cannot get into recovery mode no matter what I do.
It seems I have run out of ideas and am reaching out for help.

Hello thanks for replying.
Only problem is I cannot get into cwm or twrp. Any advice on what I can do to try to get CWM or twrp working? I can flash with ODIN. But with the CWM I tried it still just boot loops and does not allow me to get into recovery.
Thank in advanced.

Same Issue here. I tried to install the 4.4.2 N9005XXUENA6_N9005OXXENA5_N9005XXUENA2 update on my Note 3 via odin 3.09.
Got an ext4 update failed error.
After this, the phone's bricked and is stuck on the Kies Recovery Screen. I tried to go into recovery mode in Kies, but it says this model does not have initialization.
I tried installing a 4.3 N9005XXUDMK3_N9005TNLDMK1_N9005XXUDMK2, but again failed. Download mode shows SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot] Fused 3 > Binary 2
Can someone please guide me to unbrick my phone?
I don't know what ROM I was on initially. It was the stock ROM that came with the phone.
I dont have CWM and TWRM installed.

Got this response from MrAndroid12 in another thread I'd started:
"This is not a brick at all. Just add a .pit file and restart the upgrade via Odin again.
You should be fine."
I don't know how to add a .pit file though.
I am certain the bootloops are because it flashed the new bootloader. I think your best option is to wait for a dev like indie to release Omega V7 and try to flash that through Odin.
Or if you can extract the different partitions from the original thread you can try push them one by one with Odin.

It is the bootloader yes. But it NEEDS the bootloader to be able to boot in to KitKat. And there is no downgrading once you've installed the new BL.
Best option is to re-flash via ODIN again and not wait 2 weeks for a Dev to modify a custom ROM...

[FULL-UNROOT][HOW-TO] S4 MINI GT-i9195

Hello,
many people out there say it's impossible to do a full unroot on the S4 Mini, but I'll prove them wrong:
If you have a custom recovery like clockworkmod installed, that's obvious for a rooted phone,
before flashing you'll have to flash an original Samsung stock recovery first.
Otherwise the after-reboot process doesn't work correctly and you'll still have status "custom".
So here is what I did step-by-step:
- I startet with a rooted Samsung stock rom (XXUAMG8)
- I let SuperSU unroot the device (one of it's options), then
- I went into system/accounts/backup&restore and did the full restore - reboot
- I installed an original Samsung stock recovery with Odin - reboot
- I flashed the original Samsung stock rom (XXUAMG8) with Odin.
Afterwards you can check in DL mode the status, it's all "Official".
Additional Notes:
On my phone, when I didn't flash the samsung recovery first, the system boot time increased to up to 5(!) minutes every time (not only the first one...)
And why would I want to unroot my phone?
The warranty is void anyway. The Knox flag remains 0x1.
Original Samsung Stock Recovery Request
Hello, friend!
Can you get me that "original Samsung stock recovery" you mentioned, please?
Recently, I flashed a CWM file on my GT-I9192 and it doesn't work properly.
I'm searching everywhere and I couldn't find anything that helped me out...
So you're my savior...:laugh
Please attach the file or show me the link... So you will help not just me, but too many people that just messed up their phones..:good:
Best regards from Brazil.
If you do not want to flash a custom rom, you don't need cwm.
Instead, use saferoot

This how-to is about a phone with an older bootloader without knox.
So if you have a knox free bootloader, this description leads you back to full warranty conditions

flash twice the firmware in odin, sometimes baseband isn't flashed
Didn't work for me either.
Starting from CM11, wanted to flash latest stock ROM with KNOX boot loader removed - downloaded my local carrier-specific firmware from Samsung updates, then proceeded to use the tar and md5 -rt tools on a Mac, failed signature. So did it in Windows using 7zip and it managed to flash. Did it twice to ensure baseband was flashed.
Flashing the stock recovery then doing the same still gives me a custom version
Anyone has any ideas on how to return to stock? I'm on non-KNOX boot loader.

I had cm 4.4.2 on my I9195 I have to re flash with odin to go back to clockwork mod then flash original firmware twice and it worked just waiting for the ota update now
problem
It did work flashing original firmware twice however I go into recovery mode and I have a dead android with a red triangle and the words no command
It works. I got "official" status and I can download software updates, but now I get dead android with red triangle when I go recovery mode with this message:
Code:
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : NEE
Succesfully applied multi-CSC.
No command.
And when I select reboot it says "error," then reboots normally and everything works fine... But is there something wrong?

Same here. I've got problems with that Android Stock recovery file. After flashing it, when I tried to go into recovery mode, the dead android logo appeared. However if I reflash CWM everything goes ok. Where can I find another stock android recovery file?, it seems that this one only works for some specific sort of models. Mine is: GT-i9195L. (the "L" doesn't really matter).
Thanks.

Tried to flash CWM with odin and it failed, i think its bricked

A friend tried to flash CWM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860 ) for s4 and it failed...and now the phone is stuck..it says: Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again
Phone model: i9505
Some help please? I don't know what to do
EDIT: i found that i can flash the firmware with odin..but i still have a question..im not really sure what firmware i had before..so is there any problem if i install firmware from other country or carrier?
You can find latest stock fw for your phone here.
wvw.sammobile.com/firmwares/checker/
I can't post external links so change wvw to www

Why did you want to flash a custom recovery, to just flash a custom rom? If so, then just flash the custom recovery again and then flash the custom rom you want.
And why would you just flash the ap file if the firmware has more files? Makes no sense to me.

[Q] G901f rooted bricked after stock firmware lolipop flash

Actually it was not known to me that my g901f was rooted. I just flashed it with NEE stock firmware lolipop, which eventually bricked the set.
I tried Smart Switch manual insertion of Model and S/N, but it says no database verification. So i tried again odin 3.09 to flash with various firmwares which results in zero.
Set is in white screen mode, upon pressing power+lower vol+home it enters in downloading mode. I flashed 4 files + PIT of jovilonas but to disappointment. One strange thing I experienced that during flashing it always struck at image.ext.4 and failed, but I selected the T Flash option then it completed successfully but after reboot it is same as if there was no flashing at all. Before bricked it was having KitKat 4.4.2 and upon Kies software update check it showed country KSA Product Code NHK7 (as i recall but not sure about Product Code accuracy but at last there was 7, but dead sure about KSA as Country).
Please help me with flashable firmware link and proper procedure. Grateful to you.

Memory 1: as i have come to realize that my G901F was not Stock Rom Flashed and then Reflash to Root that ROM. It was already a Rooted Firmware Mod. Cause simply rooted Stock ROM when executed as Factory Reset it removes Root (as some one told me during my quest to unbrick it). Now it is clear to me that before flashing with Stock ROM, i factory restored the set but there was nothing changed and the root was there. Only issue was that it asks for wifi password whenever it restarts rather than storing it once.
Memory 2: There was no KNOX counter while it was on KITKAT 4.4.2. Neither in the Device Info nor in the Downloading mode (power+vol down+home). It always shows, ODIN MODE
MODEL G901F
System Binary Samsung official
System Status Custom

Galaxy Note 3- Updated To Lolipop, Need Help Rooting

Upgraded from Kitkat to Lollipop. Just. Need some help rooting.
So not being very experienced at Rooting/Flashing Roms this may come across strange.
Here is a little background to my problem.
I had a rooted Note 3 running KitKat before I decided to flash to Lolipop. I downloaded the Vodafone (UK) variant of the ROM from Sammobile not thinking anything of it at the time (As I am on Vodafone) I went through the usual procedure of going into download mode running Odin as admin and then connecting my phone, adding the Rom files to Odin and then Flashing. Flashing started fine as it got towards the end it Failed on Hidden(Something).
I panicked didn't know what to do so I unplugged my device and tried to reboot. It didn't. It said something along of the lines as there is a firmware error and got stuck on that screen. Panicked some more, decided I would try to google a fix. Came across one which required me to flash CWM Recovery onto my phone. I thought I would try it, Once it flashed which went fine I was told too try and boot straight into recovery mode once the phone starts and reboot through there. I took out my battery put it back in and then went ahead and tried to boot into recovery which worked. Once on CWM I went to reboot the phone As I hit yes too reboot It took me to another screen where it said I wasn't rooted and if I would like to reroot. I decided to click NO and restart the phone. It got stuck on a boot loop, I did a factory reset and cache wipe and it booted into life. (And working fine so far)
So here is where the problem is.
I am looking to get root back to the device. I think I have a locked boot loader as I installed the Vodafone variant of the 5.0 Rom. Would I be able to Flash the BTU Rom onto my device without bricking it, and after that would I be able to root Via CFAutoRoot which seems to be the easiest way to so. Or could I flash with CFAutoRoot Straight onto this ROM.
Info:
BTU ROM:
Date Country/Carrier Version PDA CSC
2015-07-01 United Kingdom 5.0 N9005XXUGBOF1 N9005BTUGBOD2
ROM I INSTALLED:
Date Country/Carrier Version PDA CSC
2015-06-01 United Kingdom (Vodafone) 5.0 N9005XXUGBOD6 N9005VFGGBOD2
Thanks for any help in advance.
I recommend installing TWRP and flashing supersu.zip from TWRP.
Search "CF Auto Root Note 3 xda" in Google.
That's easy.
Btw i too will recommend using TWRP as recovery.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Problem Solved, Flashed to another 5.0 ROM and then rooted via the normal CF Method. Thanks for the replys.
