I made a PS1 bootanimation for Nexus 5 and probably other Full HD screen devices. Sadly I couldn't make the sound play on Android 5.1
It's my first bootanimation as well! Plays in 45 fps.

That depends on if there are patches to make it work. Pretty much nobody on the Nexus 5 has done it, it's hardly useful.

Non-OEM-proprietary bootanimations should work on any device that uses non-OEM-proprietary bootanimations regardless the Android version.

I've done a little research on how to make it work and if I recall correctly, you need a kernel which supports bootanimation sound. Is it right? If yes, then how could I modify a chosen kernel in order to add such functionality, and is it possible to do on custom kernels like Franco or ElementalX?

You'd probably have to build from source. Getting it to work is probably not worth the effort, however.

I was really disappointing to find out that the lollipop factory image included old media files.
Here are the updated ringtones, notifications and alarms in a flashable zip. Safe to flash over factory image.

Mirror please? Your link is blocked by my adblocker.
So what exactly are the new sounds? And why werent they part of factory image? Were these taken from n6 or something?
Thanks for this. I seriously can't believe these weren't in the final images. Whether accidentally or intentionally.

That's completely normal I use nexus 5 volume booster from Google play to raise it a bit or use Franco kernel and a kernel tweaking app to set the audio boost levels

Unless its a custom ROM or custom kernel problem, there is nothing wrong with audio recording .. Please add more details.. What ROM are you on, is there a custom kernel? Does this happen with any ROM you try?

No, I think it's messed up. Lollipop sounds were not this quiet before I flashed this. Unless they purposely made the tap sounds quieter. It literally has to be at max volume just to hear it.
If anyone has the sounds contained in the factory image please send it my way. I would like to revert if possible. (I forgot to back up >.>)
Noob question: Will flashing this .zip result in any problems with future OTA updates on Lolipop?

Nice! DragonFi just doesn't work with my M9. So glad this does, definitely a noticeable improvement in sound quality.
I tried the APK version first and every time I tried opening it, it'd open another app of mine asking to import a database. Not sure what that's all about but the ZIP flashed fine.

What in Dragon-Fi is not working? the Dolby app? if so you may need Permissive for your kernel? unsure also the APKs do work but I guess something could be goofy if your ROM, which ROM are you using? but regardless if ZIP worked fine then I guess you may be happier about that sense V4A is now a system app
I use Dragon-Fi for the system files only, I skip all the Dolby stuff and I notice a good difference in audio quality, so it should be working for you, but I am on the M8, I never tried it on M9 personally.
Just for your convenience I have updated the thread to confirm that Marshmallow is indeed supported! :good:

I had to do the whole 9 yards with my Sprint HTC One m7 last time I put Viper4Android for lollipop on it (5.0.2). Selenix fix and flashing the zip, all I did was install the dark (had to RUU the device to get 6.23.651.10 on it) and driver status reads:
Driver Version : 2.3.4.0
NEON Enabled : Yes
Enabled : Yes
Status : Normal
Audio Format : Supported
Processing : Yes
Sampling Rate : 48000
Do not believe I have ever had the NEON enabled, just trying on phone speakers now............. WOW
cannot wait until the bluetooth cubes come off charge

Hello
I got tired waiting for an official fix, so I came up with this workaround.
twrp-flashable_OPX2.2.0_camera_patch.zip - This zip with apply the OPX front camera configuration.
twrp-flashable_OPX_camera_patch_imx214.zip - This zip will apply the OPO rear camera configuration
You'll be able to record 1080p at night without worrying about the fps drop issue.
I am not responsible for any damage on your device when applying this patch.
EDIT: Added a revert flashable zip.
EDIT2: Added zip file with imx214 libchromatix_default_video.so
Sweet. Thanks
Swapped my Recent and Back buttons.
Edit:
A couple reboots might've fixed this, but I also messed with Gravity Box a bit as well. There's two options to fixing that problem, potentially.

This patch shouldn't mess with buttons layout. You might had a pending operation that took effect on reboot when you flashed this zip.
try hydrogen os.
does your phone need to be rooted or will it work fine with stock?
Does this patch works also with custom roms like cm13?
Sorry. This patch is for default camera only? Or its for any camera apps running on oss 2.20?
It works perfect now, thank you so much for this mod. Where did this libs came from?

Hi everyone! I've modified the google logo on boot from the old one to the new one, and I've ported the Google Nexus 5x bootanimation to the Nexus 5.
Bootlogo is centered as the bootanimation logo is.
There are two version of the bootlogo, the first is with the lockpad visible, the second is with the lockpad not visible.
Google logo at boot with lockpad preview
Google logo at boot without lockpad preview
Bootanimation preview (it will be faster on your phone, this is only a gif)
How to install:
1a. Download the bootlogo (with lock or without lock)
1b. Download the bootanimation
2. Copy them to your SD card
3. Flash via recovery
4. Reboot and enjoy!
Special thanks to bitdomo for his imgdata tool.
Looks great, thanks!
Awesome, thank you! It would be great if you can make a flashable zip of the bootanimation, it's easier than replacing manually everytime I update the ROM. Thanks!

I've made a flashable zip that installs the fixed bootanimation (there were 3 unusual frames on the third part).

I've re-uploaded the bootanimation zip because of an error in the binary file, now the installation via recovery will work

I don't know why a boot animation for the N5 wouldn't work for the N7. As the N7 screen is 1200x1920, you'll have black bars, 60 pixels wide, on the east/west sides of the screen. It probably won't be noticeable, unless you run a full screen animation with a bright background.
