Octa Core question - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The eight cores of the octa core version doesn't work together, right? So the phone uses sometimes the 1.3gz cores and when he need it uses the 1.9ghz cores. The question is, can I force the phone to use the 1.9ghz cores only, instead of using the other four slower cores?
And why Samsung creates an Octa core cpu if the eight cores can't work together? For improving battery life?
(sorry for my English)

Newer samsung flagships including Note 4 has hmp which means that all eight cores are working together.

"The Korean Note 4 will feature an octa-core Exynos 5433 chipset, which is split up into a 1.9GHz quad-core processor for bigger activities and a 1.3GHz quad-core for the menial tasks;*"

That means that it only uses four cores sometimes and when is necessary it uses only the other 4 or it uses all the 8 cores?

I would also like to know more about this. Cause if it can only use 4 core at a time then i believe the snapdragon would be better.

Best cpu, control app for nexus 7?

Which cpu control app with profiles do you guys recommend for the tegra 3?
Setcpu works great on my dual core snapdragon but I don't know how it'll do with a quad.

System tuner. But its hard to get CPU clock to stay. Best to use a script for that

Overclocking

Can someone please explain to me why none of the kernel's have OC ability?// I think it's due to quad core overheating but I'm not sure and would really love an actual explanation.. Thanks

they all started with OC ability right at the beginning, then .. a good few number of people had HARDWARE bricked devices, that had a fault with the battery no longer being connected or something
they all had overclocking in common, since then , its been removed on most or all kernels
I'm sure that as time progresses it will be made available again. What's the need to clock anyway its fast enough as it is

This is true, its a 1.5ghz quad core lol why do we need more ?
Also what was happening in some kernels was that mpdecision (which is qualcomms code that says when the cores should be on and offline, i.e hotplug) was using the hardware maxs of each kernel, so if the kernel was capable of going to 1.8ghz, even if you set the max to 1.4ghz ( using software) , mpdecison would override the software and use the hardware max.. therefore.. .it would ramp all cores up to 1.8.. which caused a major cluster ****..

Will I certainly don't need it. Would it be nice to have? Yeah but it isn't on the top of my priority list.
What he's saying about mpdecision is true. If you read the change log for Franco kernel he removed mpdecision and is working towards a open platform for kernels. So we should hopefully be seeing more goodies.

Opengl 3 on android 4.3

With android 4.3 is opengl 3 supported by "old" nexus 7?
Sent from my GT-N5110 using xda app-developers app
Nope. OpenGL 2.0 is supported by the Tegra 3, right now you need to have a Snapdragon S4 Pro or the new Cortex A15 phones to take advantage of it .

[Q] Any tools allow to control the cores?

Previous we can use Quad Core Manager to turn off the other cores. But the application seem not working now on note 3.
So anyone?

I'm interested in this as well but the octa core version.
Anyone heard of a tool like this?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Yeah. I think we can have maximise battery usage while turn off the core when not using. As I think 2 core enough for me to execute all the task. Hope to hear from more people.

[Invitation]For people interested to port Note 3 NEO to Note 2

Some info about Note 3 NEO
Display 5.50-inch
Processor 1.6GHz 6 core
Chipset Exynos 5260
CPU Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 & dual-core 1.7 GHz Cortex A15

The note 3 neo has the same resolution with our beloved note2 (no need to mod the UI or framework) and has all the note 3 applications and goodies all of this in android 4.3. Firmware is available for download. I have all the file ready for real porters(extracted deodexed). I am upload all the file if any one wants to jump on this be my guest. At my first attempt I got my device booting but with a lot of FC and I couldn't pass the settings screen. What do you think...
Here you have the hole system of Note 3 NEO

Nice search. But when we already have all N3 features ported, why do we need this? Does it has some different features? If its worth enough, I'll port it when I get some free time. Already busy with my other projects.

It can be used to make a test rom. Wish I had knowledge abt it. @drketan is no more in note 2 dev or he could look into it.

The main thing is 2GB of ram that is what we looking for. I suppose it has a better ram optimization.
I have a better idea. Wait for the note 3 neo kk rom and port the kk tw rom to note 2

Not so easy without a good(original) kernel for 4.4.x
can we get the camera feature?
