[Q] Does touchwiz compress image quality before setting as wallpaper? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I found some high resolution images. They have more detail when viewing in the galleryy, compared to when setting as a home or lock screen wallpaper
Is there any way to stop touchwiz from compressing the image quality?
Thanks

stop setting wallpapers through touchwiz/settings.
FX File explorer can, from my experience, set wallpapers without visible quality loss.
it does work best with wallpapers with an ideal resolution(height of 2560, width between 2560 and 3000)

Wallpaper Quality Degrades

I've downloaded some HQ wallpapers for my TMOUS, but when I apply them they get degraded and lose quality, is there some cab that fixes that? Or do they have to be the 480x800 because the ones i've downloaded are like 1440
You need to run your wallpapers through HDWall and make installable cabs with them (see my signature) to have full quality WPs. The default thing shrinks them to 512x512px max and then stretches them again to 800x480 for display, hence the bad quality.

Ok thanks! That was very annoying. It's only thru sense, because the lockscreen quality is there, just not that wallpaper.

Improve wallpaper quality

Is there a way to improve background image? I downloaded a picture full size over 600kb and converted to 480 x800, it looks sharp on my phone but not when i set it as wallpaper. I tried the original, witch is over 1024x 900 still not as sharp.
Why is that?
In Sense? That's standard....u can't change the quality unless u use HDwalls.

[Q] Setting wallpaper images as portrait aspect ratio

Hey,
First post so thanks for the help in advance. I have the AVA ROM loaded on my rooted EVO. My question is how can I make the images keep from cropping to a landscape aspect ratio?
On the ROM I have the ability to disable wallpaper scrolling which represents same image across all screens. So what can I use, download or configure (setting) to allow portrait images to be set?
For instance, I take a picture in portrait aspect ratio, I want to apply that same size exact image as the wallpaper without adjusting size through cropping etc.
Regards,
kcb

[Q] How to set 1080 x 1920 wallpaper without crop or scroll?

I am trying to use this theme:
http://mycolorscreen.com/2013/11/04/colorful-elegance-2/
When I try and set the wallpaper on my the LG default launcher or the SS launcher it wants me to crop the image into a 1:1. I would like to maintain the 9:16 apsect ration while in portrait and use the full 1080 x 1920 image. I think this has something to do with the wallpaper scrolling. I tried to set the wallpaper with Wallpaper Wizardrii and remove the scrolling but it didnt work. It still scrolls and it still makes me crop the image.
-Any help is appreciated.

Try app Image 2 Wallpaper on play store.
Thanks for your reply. I was able to get it to work by setting my background image in SSluancher and not the wallpaper.

Setting wallapers

I've notice when setting 1440 x 2560 images it seems to zom on the image ever so slightly once set .Is there a reason why it doesn't set the full image as wallpaper ?

It is because the launcher, if you want to set a full 1440X2560, I recommend using Wallpaper Changer and pick Fit.
I'm finding even some 1440x 2560 images are being cropped,I see some lively pics on line but when set as wallpapers don't look the same, they have been cropped etc ,what is the optimal resolution to set as wallpaper
