[Q] LG G2 - Radio, Baseband, GSM Reception, Signal - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Very weak GSM signal and loosing network is a well know issue on G2 . Cloudy has got its Baseband, but this doesn't solve the problem. My gsm reception is so weak, I have to change my sim from G2 to old Blackberry several times a day to be able to receive & make calls.
His to solve this ?
Stock ROM is better with the reception but not much. I'm slightly worried with flashing stock radio/baseband on Cloudy's ROM.
Can someone advise how to combat this problem ?

Nothing development related here... This should be in Q&A.
I don't believe flashing the stock radios will be an issue... Cloudy is based on stock anyway.

In this case, what would be the problem and how to solve it ?

I have solved it.

Data Network Bug.

Okay this happens mostly when I am using Custom ROMs.
For example if my Data Network is ON and then someone calls me and if I pick up the call then I am unable to pick it up....
No matter how many times I slide the accept button it won't accept.
And then in the next 2 minutes I am unable to make calls or use Data Network or send SMSes...
And while in those 2 minutes if someone calls me then he gets "The Vodafone number you have dialed is out of coverage area".
Also I have a Vodafone Card and have EDGE on it....

Now that you have mentioned it, I too used to think only I had this problem....
And when I was on stock I5801DDJP6 for the last 2 months I did not have this problem....
Before that, no matter what custom ROM I was on, I tried everything, InDroid, Kyrillos' and now Kyorarom...
I still have this problem on so far all custom ROMs I have used....
I am currently using Kyorarom v0.5...
I don't know if this bug existed on Cyanogen Mod Alpha 6 cause I didn't have Data Network Pack when I was on Cyanogen Mod Alpha 6....
Not blaming the developers but at least they can find a solution...
EDIT : Just to mention more, when someone calls me while Data Network is ON and if the call does not get accepted (which happens 90% of the times) I can see my network signal full but actually there isn't any, or something like that....
And after 2 minutes it reconnects to the network....
Same problem was faced by me too... problem is with vodafone only.. if we r on custom roms based on non Indian firmware, than this problem is been faced. For this we can either change the operator and use any custom rom or else keep the same operator n use only Indian stock firmware or Custom Rom's based on Indian firmware. Latest is DDJP6, recommened custom rom based on this firmware is Rom's made by sekhagreen.. I am using v5 and absolutely no network problem found.. flash this rom and give supports to sekhagreen.. he is the best for me..

Well that sucks.....
I wish there was some way around this....
Okay I flashed the "modem.bin" from I5801DDJP6 and now my Data Network bug is gone and also no problems with Kyorarom v0.5....
Thanks to all you guys for this help.....

[Q] Connectivity Issues?

Hey Guys,
I've been using PureSpeedX (KitKat) 3.0.8 as my daily driver for a long time. I love its speed and stability, but there is one thing that really urks me, and that is the 3G/HDSPA connectivity!
I'm using the latest version of PSX available for the Mako, with baseband version :
M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.98
I'm also using the default kernel that comes with the rom.
Now, here's my issue:
I am with Wind Mobile in Canada.
I live in the Hamilton area, and the connectivity on this phone is always acting up.
or example, I'll have full bars, and once I try to open anything, 2/3 times it fails, and the third, it will finally go through.
When It is trying to connect, I see it sends ~ 110b then just goes to 0 while still in 3G mode, and this happens ~ 5 times before the app I'm using times out. (don't know if that helps)
Again, this is while on full signal bar.
So, any tips? Am I using a bad baseband? Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks!

Backup, flash a different ROM, and see if it works properly. If it still doesn't, then try changing the baseband.
Did it work normally on the stock ROM?

I thought the older ones than .98 would have issues with KitKat?
Also, I have tried 4.3, and it seems to run fine (Although, I used a LTE Hybrid Baseband with it, I'll try using it instead of the regular .98)

[Q] Can't make or receive phone calls

I thought I had performed all of the necessary checks before flashing Cyanogenmod on my Note 3, but it turns out it hasn't worked 100% as planned.
Everything is absolutely fine, bar the fact that I can't actually use it as a phone. I'm able to send and receive texts and also use data, but whenever I go to make a call, the call ends and if someone tries to call me, they hear ringing, but nothing makes it through to my Note.
I found this post reporting a similar issue. I'm locked into O2 in the UK, so I'm guessing it's something along those lines.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this or do I need to restore to a backup?
Use a CyanogenMod build from 3/27 or earlier and you will have calling back. It's a bug that is still not fixed as of today

Thank you. I'll give that a go just now.
Edit: That worked. Thanks for the heads up!

I know that feel, bros, but on a stock based rom it works.

Guys, everytime I flashed an AOSP based Rom like Carbon on my hltexx, nobody can call me and I also can't call someone else. If I dial a number, the connection seems to break instantly but my mom told me, she got my calls but didn't hear anything. I'm also unable to change or view the access points.
Stock based Roms like Omega work correctly.
WTF am I doing wrong? :crying:

GPS Won't Fix Location

Hi good people of xda.
I'm hoping someone out there can help me as I'm at the end of my tether.
I recently noticed that my GPS wasn't working whilst running Goldfinger v8.
So I tried all the usual fixes (tightening screws, faster fix, topNTP, changing csc) and nothing works. I flashed back to a stock unrooted 4.4.2 firmware for my location UK (BTU) via odin and that didn't work. I am currently running Goldeneye v49.2 as the last time i remember my gps working was on a much earlier version of that rom (v20 something) but it isn't available to download anymore so i thought i'd try the latest but to no avail.
Unlike others that seemed to report no satellites in view, my phone sees them but will not get a fix .
I have also never used a 4.4.4 rom as I know that can cause gps problems when reverting back to 4.4.2.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Same problem here..help
I'm starting to think my gps is broken. If I put my phone in flight mode and open gps test it sees satellites but they are clustered in one direction
If I disable flight mode as soon as my phone connects to wifi I get a normal looking image.
I have tried so many stock firmwares, modems and cscs I've lost count. I've tried 4.4.2, 4.4.4 tw roms & 5.0.1 aosp and nothing is allowing me to get a gps lock. I haven't dropped my phone (much) and had what I'd call a heavy impact to have damaged the internal gps receiver/aerial so I'm really at a loss now. Looks like I'll be buying a new phone sooner than I thought

Hello.
The Nexus 4 never officially supported LTE. Some people discovered that there was partial support in the chipset and figured out how to enable it. However it only works on a limited frequency range and you have to know if the cell sites near you have the right frequency band. I never bothered figuring it out for myself as HSDPA+ is fast enough for me and I only have a small amount of monthly data to use anyway.
You need to use older versions of the baseband/modem as the most recent ones disabled the possible LTE modes. Whether older versions of the baseband are compatible with community ROMs based on 6.0 and up I don't know. I haven't seen any discussion for a while now. Phones with good supported LTE have been common for a long time and I suspect anyone who really needed LTE has moved on.
Band 4 LTE works just fine, problem is, I think Tmo in the US is the only carrier that supports it (thankfully I am in the US and on T-mo in that case). Any ROM with a Hybrid Modem will work. I am on latest 7.1.1_r4 Nitrogen OS and is works fine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-nitrogen-os-n-substratum-10-09-2016-t3459341
Make sure LTE shows as enabled: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/updated-zip-one-lte-enabler-flash-one-t2358931
Hi
Good news!, in latest 7.1.1_r4 Nitrogen OS, this ROM has build.prop modified by default with LTE option enabled in mobile network menu. But this ROM has modem device only for 3G, so i flashed this file and 4G LTE it's back again on band 4!
