Hi. First post so apologies if I get anything wrong. Please let me know and I'll happily correct.
Picked up a SM-N9005 and successfully flashed CWM and rooted using heimdall. I then ran into two problems.
First I tried to Encrypt the device - (I need this for my ActiveSync device permissions to work so I can get office emails) and the device wouldn't encrypt. It starts the process (asks for a password confirmation only, not a new password), and then powers off and on back to brightly colored password screen.
So, I thought it might be the rooting process that had caused the issue. so I did a cwm backup and a factory reset. (foolishly ignoring the the message on the rooting thread OP). The phone still didn't encrypt so I decided to download the stock rom and revert to the old recovery.img. The plan was to go to the stock recovery, encrypt and then reflash cwm.
While waiting for the stock rom to download I (still foolishly) decided to restore all my apps and data since it clearly wasn't the problem. and... bootloop.
So my questions are :
1) Is there any way to fix the bootloop without reflashing the whole stock rom?
2) How do I encrypt the phone? Is this a clockworkmod issue?
3) How do I backup the phone - would a Titanium backup zip work or am I just going to put my phone into a loop again?
Thanks

Further edit. I had a pit I pulled down when I first got the phone (I've bricked them before). Adding to @Nani's response below. I've tried flashing the stock rom and I get a PIT upload failure. It doesn't recognize the PIT and hiemdall can't detect a PIT on the device.

We are now a few to have encounter this bootloop issue.
At this time there's no good way ... I had to hard reboot a few times and the only workaround i found is that boot loop occurs only when phone is on (meaning there's no boot loop in "Plane Mode"). So i hope a fix/patch will be provided soon by Samsung thru a new firmware. By the meantime i try not to reboot when "Plane Mode" is off.
What i do know is I tried a lot of configurations with no result :
- reboot with SD card removed => bootloop
- reboot with SD card removed and in "Secured Mode" => bootloop
Hi Guys
I'm selling this note 3 so followed advice to encrypt the phone to protect any data on it from recovery.
The processes staled after multiple hours so I restarted the phone and its not stuck on the Encryption failed screen and the reset device option doesn't work.
I tried using TWRP to erase all the data on the phone and tried flashing a new rom but the message remains.
The phone was on a custom lollipop rom and has now been flashed to the latest omega rom.
Any one managed to resolve this on a note 3 ?
Thanks
Richie
Have you tried flashing a stock ROM in Odin?
this was to be my next step ive downloaded the latest 5.0 from sam mobile.
anything special I should do ?
Make sure you do a full factory wipe in recovery before booting the stock ROM for the first time.
Thanks man in the end th company took the phone anyway so I didn't have to bother fixing it .
Hey, people.
I've looked for another threats on this, but seems like others really don't work, or I did something wrong.
So, I had Cyanogenmod for 6 months in this device but I wanted to reset it to stock rom. So I flashed it using Odin and, it was failing all the time for some authentication error. I flash stock recovery to if it would do any difference but no. I installed back TWRP and it was saying "E: Unable to mount '/data'" and '/ storage' too.
Now I cant even boot cyanogenmod because it never quits of "starting apps" after the boot loading.
Soooo... What should I do to resolve this?
Please any details? Did you try to reflash TWRP? Where did you find stock firmware?
You know i flash my device through odin a plenty of time and had no problem at all.
Send log
so here is the story i was running the nexus experience rom tried changing phone resolutoin with nomone but ended up with an unusable screen with small text looked it up found out that i need to factory reset so i done all my wipes but now when i try to install stock rom it gives me errors help pls (i have the signator verificatio or what ever unchecked btw)
wipe all data using stock recovery and install stock rom using stock recovery
which recovery you are using and what error you are getting? did you tried any other custom rom? is there any unmount error?
Title says it all. Bricked my s5 active trying to write G870A_NE4_Stock Kernel.tar.md5 using Odin. I really don't know why it didn't work, but now my phone is stuck on the samsung active splash screen. If anybody can offer some advice on what I could do to resolve this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Try booting into recovery if possible and wipe all data everyhing and flash stock FW for your model.... dunno what else can you do
Reflash the whole thing again using Odin and it should be fine.
ur not hard bricked but just soft bricked, easy to recover, just wipe and reflash compatible rom via twrp or stock fw via odin
