hi
just gone from an S4 to an S5 and notice sammy has removed the cool lights effect unlock screen that was on the S4.
It was the one where you hover your finger over the screen and the light appears.
Any one know of a mod so i can have this on my S5?
Have searched the net but to no avail.
I know its no big deal, but to me it just feels like a downgrade.
same here . i used to have it on my s4 after recent update its gone
Any input on this? i want to know how to enable this -.-
You can flash Xtrestolite Kitkat (Latest Kitkat)and flash Note 4 Transformation Pack for Kitkat to get lens flare lock back.

Hey guys,
Just received my Google Play Edition Galaxy S4, and one of the first things I notice is that the capacitive button (Menu and Back) timeout is set to approx 1-2 seconds.
This is the case with the regular (international) version of the Galaxy S4 as well, but in the regular version you can easily disable the key light timeout under Display -> Touch key light duration. I cannot however find a setting to keep the buttons lit (with the screen) in the Google Play Edition S4.
The questions:
Could a third party app fix this problem? Are there such apps available already? Would root be necessary?
Buying this device I had no intentions of rooting and loading a custom ROM onto it, but this key light thing is going to bug me no end so I might have to reconsider.
I'm sorry if the answer is obvious and I'm just a blind fool, or if the question has been asked and answered before. I did a few searches but could not find anything relevant to the i9505G.
Cheers!

BUMP.
I've enabled the software navigation bar on the Google Edition on a US AT&T S4,
The only problem is that the capacitive lights come on when I press home/back/recent apps software keys.
Is there any way to modify settings of the light duration?
Help greatly appreciated
Keeping capacitive buttons lit in Google Edition S4 [i9505G]
BUMP
This is so annoying. How could Google even think about shipping the Google Edition with this BUG?
Such a flaw is in no way excusable. You really have to be not testing Google Edition S4 to not see this.
Any chance of a solution here?
Anybody sort this out??
Capacitive light app for GE Galaxy S4
For control of the Capacitive lights on the Google Edition Galaxy S4 go to the link below to get the app. It works great!

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S4 i9505 (Snapdragon version) running a google play edition rom (4.3).
ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348272
I noticed recently after holding my phone in front of my webcam that the gesture sensor is active whilst the screen is on, its constantly blinking . As there is no use for it in this rom I'm sure this must either be a bug or that it does this by default.
Webcam photo (Sorry for bad quality) - http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/4639/bdgf.jpg
My question is... Is this normal for the google play edition roms, Or is it just my device?
Thanks,
Sly
I really like this feature where you cam scale down whole screen. Is there a way to have this always on as currently when you turn off screen this dissappears to full screen.
Rooted with stock rom
Hi there. I have a Galaxy s4 (i9505 model). Does nowbody eles noticed that the air gesture sensor that is a infra red sensor is always on? That can be senn only by looking at it trough a nather camera. There ara some exemples that i noticed on youtube. (cant post them becose im new )
It is anoyng to know that this sensor it's eating battery and it's in my eyes all the time. Cann enebody thell me how to disabele it. (It's off in settings, bat as i have senn in a youtube video it's powered on eavean at the begining of using a phone after unboxing)
Thanks!
Maybe that's how it is supposed to work?
I can't check to see to see mine is the same. I don't have any camera to check. I'm running a GPE rom, which has none of those samsung touchwiz features.
It's like this on many s4 models. I'v seen it on youtube and in real life too. Today i have cheked a s4 model in a store, the little sensor is on all the time the screen it's on (air gesture off in settings). But on S5 and Note3 (i have friends and i have checked) it's activated only when the air gesture setting it's on and eaven then not all the time, the little sensor glows only when an app it's compatible with the air gesture (ex gallery, browser) ant the little hand simbol it's on the notification bar. So i think it's a bug, and if you ask me a big bug to be on all the time (when screen it's on). Somehowe it's writen in the OS, i only whish to know if it can be deactivated for good.

Don't forget that the sensor might be used by other functions. Smart stay or smart scrolling maybe.

All features ar off in settings, still the little sensor is powered on all the time. Not sutch a big deal after all. Only thing i have found to say sow wrong on the dievice .
PS. Still....cant bealive that so many skilled people around here dont know about this and dont care about this . Not to say dont know how to turn it off, becose it's not normal since on S5 and Note3 the behavior of the sesnor it's totaly diferent and logical a sansor always on (eaven whenn all seting thell hin to be off) it's only eating pointless battery.
Recently my galaxy s4 having screen issue .At low bright Ness the screen starts to flicker...how to fix it plz help
Do a clean flash of the firmware. If that doesn't help, replace the screen.
