[Q] Signal booster for S4 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have S4 and pretty weak signal in my apartment
Recently came across this booster on eBay. It is passive one antenna outside another one behind it inside.
GSM CELLULAR SIGNAL BOOSTER EXTERNAL ANTENNA HOME HOUSE
Has anybody been using this and can give a review, is it worth?
Many Thanks

interesting , I am curious if it's really working , I have a bad signal on my area !
THX for the post

Just looked at the link.
What a joke, no connection to cell phone it ain't going to do jack****.
As a radio enthusiast for over 25 years (cb/ham) I know that unless the antenna is correctly connected to the antenna socket nothing is going to increase signal.

Improve reception hack

Reading about cut the antenna on other phones improved reception, I decided to hack mine. I found a worse reception by cut the antenna in half, but when i solder the antenna top cut back I got amazing reception. From no bars to two bars. Even 4bars which was a miracle. I will give details with further testing.

Signal Booster?

Does anyone know of a way to fit an external aerial to the Kaiser. I just moved to an area where my mobile signal is very flaky. Years ago I had a proper nokia car kit and fitted it in inside my house and used the external aerial on the car kit to achieve the same results... but then nokias had that little ext aerial port on the back but the kaiser only has one for the GPS right?
Just to clarify are you getting a good signal outside of your house and a bad signal inside?
If so then a cellular /externderbooster might work for you. It has an external antenna that sits outside and the transmitter/receiver sits in the house.
Here is an example of one type that a company sells:

If your not getting a good signal outside then an external antenna will not help you much. You can't boost a signal much if its not really there to begin with.

Has anyone tried these? Do they work. And which one is best for Kaiser as far as the 3G network. Which frequency does 3G use.
Thanks
that really depend on where you are and what operator you use

this booster gives you 4-6 feet only, I guess it is not worth to buy it.
Maybe you get a sport in your room where you can make a call and elswhere not.

Thats the wrong one your looking at. Thats the zPersonal .. The Wi-Ex has way better coverage.
zBoost, the Wi-Ex cell phone signal booster for your Home or Office, extends a Cell Zone (up to 2500 sq ft) AND protects the carrier network
using patent-pending technology.

Reception? Signal?

I've been using my HTC Magic for almost two weeks now, really enjoying the device and the interface but I've noticed that in indoor areas where reception might 3 or 4 bars, the other side cannot hear me. Sometimes the reception will just completely drop as well. Anyone have similar experiences?
These are all places where my i780 worked perfectly too :/
Make sure you don't hold the lower part of the phone... that's where the antenna is. (Most other phones have the antenna at the top)

Signal

I noticed that I have much less reception on my new vibrant. I use to have full 3g in my house or outside my area with G1. Now I see zero bars to one bar and scattered throughout my area. I know this is a problem with other as well...
i guess my question is if there is any tips to increase the reception like the gps fix. Or if having wifi or gps on help with reception? Or just wait for a update.
Thanks
the vibrant shows less bars of reception than most other phones. However, this doesn't mean it is actually getting less reception. It's all how it displays the signal.
My vibrant is great at holding onto a signal in low coverage areas, much better than my last phone.

No other phone has it's antenna made like the iPhone 4, use your brain. NO other phone with an internal antenna or otherwise COVERED antenna will have the same problem as the iPhone
Ok, but I'm with the guys that say their G1 had better reception. I had 2 bars 3g in my house with G1 and only get edge in my house on my Vibrant.

The G1 doesn't have better reception, just better antenna placement. I'm sure if you moved your hand away from the antenna or put it in the same orientation as the G1 it would pick up 3G. The G1 has a medicre antenna, -101dBm at my house where there is no LOS with ANY cell tower. It would occasionally get worse. That's pathetic. My CLIQ got -91dBm even with my hand blocking the antenna. Not getting 3G doesn't mean the phone has poor reception, it's a number of things and most of them being a weak 3G signal to begin with. First thing to check would be the CID's for the 3G and 2G network around your house to see if they're coming from the same tower.
././. nevermind
well theres something screwy....
g1 def held better calls, i can barely have a phone call with the vibrant cutting out.
I guess i have to take my finger off the antenna?

[Q] GSM signal booster

Hi
In my apartment in one room there is pretty good gsm signal and in other room the signal is very weak. Is there any quick and not expensive solution to improve the signal?
I found one item on ebay, and just wandering could this small tag solve the signal problems?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Galaxy-S4...ell_Phone_Signal_Boosters&hash=item20dab0a1ff
Thanks
Being a licenced radio operator I have come across many strange antenna design's over the years and scratched my head trying to understand how the hell it could possibly work, regarding the tag you found, I highly doubt it would do anything, reason,
1. its not physically connected to the antenna circuit of the phone, Inductive coupling does work, but with the losses involved in this design, it would be highly sceptical you would notice any improvement.
2. They want you to place it "under the battery" this in turn would de-tune the resonate frequency of the antenna due to capacictive and inductive coupling of the battery and surrounding phone circuitry. Assuming it even works properly in the first place. And at cellphone radio frequencies a tiny change can cause the antenna to not be resonate.
Having said all that I have witnessed some strange things regarding antennas and with new ideas and designs I guess anything is possible.
For a few $ why not give it a try and report back.
