We didn't even get the Lollipop update yet... so I don't even think of the new TW, looks like $ammy forgot us completely. :crying:

S6 Touchwiz is 64 bit.
don't even think of the S6 TW.

UI has nothing to do with 64 bit

Just use APEX or NOVA launcher, lots of config options and faster than TW. I'm using APEX on my Note 4 with Lollipop 5.0.1, it's really fast.
By the way I read yesterday that if you're not using TW launcher the app UnifiedDaemon can be freezed (with TitaniumBackup) and that improves battery life... just did it last night and testing today.
Regards.

Updated S Pen SDK to make the “old” Galaxy Note new

Alongside the introduction of Galaxy Note 2, Samsung has announced the availability of a new Software Development Kit for the S Pen. The S Pen SDK 2.2 should help developers bring several features found on the Galaxy Note 2 to other S Pen-touting devices, the original Note included. The updated SDK contains new UX scenario, context awareness, and expanded drawing tools.
Of note is the tool that allows apps to recognize the S Pen even when there’s no physical contact between the stylus and the screen. In other words, you can simply hover the pen over the device to trigger certain actions.
Available only for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1 is the ability the launch preset features when the S Pen is detached or when the earphone is attached. As for the expanded doodling tools, a new calligraphy brush has been added to the list of pen input, and there are new color filling features, 33 image effects, an improved UI, and more.
With Samsung doing its part by releasing the new S Pen SDK, the ball is now on the devs’ court to try and create some more advanced apps for the Note series.

It can be. The only thing that can't is when you take the spen out. Like auto launch memo as soon as it's taken out

It's not an app that you can install on your phones. It's for developers who create apps for the note..
Isn't the New s-pen slightly bigger? How should it fit into Note 1?

You can't fit the Note 2 hardware into the Note 1. It is software that controls the S pen that is to be coded using the new SDK.
oo. thx for the info

wait for an rom that have its features
or for a 4.1 official samsung galaxy note n7000 update

i mean an official jelly bean update as in this video -
Hi guys, I have a gs3 international version. Recently I've been flashing over to the leak version of jb stock ROMs over at the other forum under gs3.
There are about 4 stock ROMs all under the leak ver for sg3.
The initial Leak ROM which I've flashed using Odin i9300xxLH1. While using this ROM I sign into Facebook , it recognize my phone as galaxy note 2. Wtf ?
That ROM does include s note lite which is the same as note 10.1.
My question is. Can that stock ROM be flash into our galaxy note?
Noted that the ROM is without kernel. Just firmware. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Can someone check that ROM out?
The new note 2 is fantastic! Ui look and feels just the same like the sgs3.:silly:
I think this update would worl on apps that call or import the thew new s-pen sdk package..
I am awaiting for new innovative approaches to start flowing in.
One great feature i would like is the i can hold the pen in the Contacts app side bar where the alphabets come it can switch fast to the corresponding names.. and further drill down .. on a particular contact it will hover a call or message button which i should click for action.

S Note Lite is just a taster of the S Note for the Note series of devices. It is not the same version of S Note found on 10.1 tab, I believe.
I am so boggled by the responses to this thread.

You could try a new launcher before rooting if you want to start out slow. Nova is pretty nice for example.
Here's a good place to start reading about rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803

You can try out the i9505G rom.. Pure nexus experience. However if you've never rooted or flashed a rom before I suggest you install one of the many launchers available in the play store. Nova launcher is one of the best ones out there.
Hi, I had exactly the same issue, recently switched from iOS to HTC Sense 5 and now to S4. I personally hate touchwiz and find it unusable but love the s4 hardware, so I tried several launchers which did not really address my issues with TW. Without any experience and a bit of research I rooted my phone, installed a custom recovery and flashed GE 4.3 Rom. Works flawlessly, except for a battery drain which is going to be fixed soon.
I highly recommend this - definitely the best phone I've used.

I will flash the google edition rom when google actually release it ''officially'' for the GT0i9505. I have read somewhere on this board that they wanted to do this @ a later date.
Start out slow with a custom launcher like Nova Prime and then read up on rooting and flashing, once you feel comfortable, flash the GE rom and enjoy the AOSP feel.

I recommend Nova Launcher if you don't know about flashing Custom ROMs. otherwise Jamal did a pretty good job at his 4.2.2 GE ROM for the i9505.

Flash the Google edition of the S4 Rom and you'll feel right at home especially coming from a nexus 4.

[Q] Art mode in TouchWiz

Any how is this possible? Like in M8 ARHD there's ART mode option.
Any ROM here can make this possible? S800 version.

Afaik only the S5 supports ART out of the box, maybe others like the Note 3 and S4 will follow.

Oh well. Thanks for the info.
I am flashing for a friend that is suffering from serious battery drain issues. So I wanted her to use ART.
ART (Android run time) is an experimental alternative to Dalvik
First introduced on Nexus 5 I believe.
My understanding was it was work in progress as not all apps would run on it.
This was the case back in Oct 2013 when Nexus 5 was released

I never noticed much of a difference when using ART on AOSP but I do want to try it on tw. A friend of mine that has the S5 says ART is actually slower than dalvik on tw. That's the only reason why I want to try to see for myself on the note 3..

He wasn't asking what ART is. He was asking if note 3 has ART. And it clearly doesn't. So far only AOSP roms have ART on the note 3.

I`am not xperiencing lags myself and i have about 120 apps installed and running TW launcher, but disabeling the lockscreen animation will make the S5 snappier imo.

if you are putting finger print lock or pattern or password it won't appear, but if you choose swipe it will appear down in lockscreen options
download the phone INFO app and check if you have a genuine S5 first.

There is no lag at all if you debloat all of the superfluous Samsung apps.
Or even easier, install a custom ROM like Phoenix or XtreStoLite and turn off the page animations.
.
The latest firmware update currently being rolled out has already solved this. My device is running smoothly with no problem at all
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
When is that firmware due?

Rolling the update to all countries / carriers normally takes time. But if you're unlocked, you can download latest UK stock rom & install it. It already includes the latest update

Sent from my SCH-I337 using XDA Free mobile app
If you don't want any issues then use the stock ROM that belongs on the phone and add S5 or Note 3 apps.
If you are flashing any ROM it is best you do the research yourself and read through the thread for your possible choices.
Most of the times any issues discovered will also have a fix in the thread.
Asking people what they consider good or best is just pure opinion on what they like and have fixed or has issues they are not concerned about.
So only YOU can decide what is "good" for YOU.
