Hi there,
Just a few days ago i bought a LG Quantum, everything seem to be working fine until everyone told me why i didn't pickup their calls. I can make calls, the 3G it's working, I can receive sms, Wifi and BT working too.
It's SIM unlocked and working on Telcel Mexico (UMTS 850)
have you tried to turn of your mobile data connection?
for edge and gprs: they are only capable of one thing at a time data or calls.
3g already does both.
Yeah I tried that, I did downgrade to NoDo and now just shows "No Service", for a few seconds have service, I tried with another providers and shows the same behavior. Its not enough with the SIM unlocking? Maybe it doesnt have the XML of the provider or I must debrand? Anybody have an idea?
For the record, now im on movistar, with the sim working on a Samsung Focus shows "movistar", on the Quantum shows "movistar-movistar"
I just received my Google Edition of the S4. It works fine with most features but it does not allow any data connection via the mobile network (WiFi works fine). Voice calls also work fine.
I spent one hour at a local AT&T shop and also one hour in a phone call with the AT&T service hotline. In the shop, they replaced my SIM card and tried several tricks with the IMEI, but without success.
GoogleSupport suggested a factory reset - also no improvement.
Switching the phone to 2G mode in the mobile data settings also did not help. I also tried with a different APN (copied from my old phone), also no connection.
In my old 3G phone (quite old Samsung Captivate) everything works fine.
Could this be a hardware problem, a strange software issue, or in the end an issue with AT&T?
Send Phone back to google? Try with a similar phone a second time?
I read that there are sometimes issues with LTE but these guys seem to have data at least - just too slow. No Data seems to be a different thing --> new thread.
Hello,
I cannot get the phone to connect to any mobile datta. 2G, 3G and 4G. I am on EE UK.
I have checked my APN and this seems correct. I am getting a phone signal and can make incoming and outgoing calls.
Wi-fi works fully.
I have installed CM11 Nightly the latest one I only got the phone yesterday. I have restored my original backup and still no luck.
EE technical said everything is fine on my account.
Anyone any ideas. Thanks a lot.
Hi guys,
I bought the unlocked firmware phone back in December 2016. The phone is great, the problem is I am using EcoMobile MVNO. It's refusing to recognize the network with the MVNO's sim card. I've spent hours on the phone with them and they claim all is OK on their (and Verizon's) end.
The phone sort of works, so I've just been grinning and bearing it so far. Using 4G switcher, I can put it in CDMA only mode, in which case it connects to '123456' and I can receive and make calls, and receive texts, but have no internet. If I put it in full LTE/GSM/CDMA auto mode, it connects to LTE, so I have internet, but it claims I'm not connected to Verizon network and in fact it's not available. So in this mode I can't receive calls or texts. Can't send texts under any mode. I've done a full factory reset at the MVNO's behest, of course that did nothing. The phone seems to connect fine to Verizon's network if I borrow someone elses's Verizon sim. My MVNO sim also works in my wife's iPhone5 without a problem. So it really seems to come down to the firmware on the phone. I'm holding out against hope that when Nougat comes to the G935U firmware, this problem is magically solved... but just in case decided to post here.
Please help, any ideas would be appreciated.

Flash the vzw firmware or go through the steps for the hybrid rom with vzw modems implemented.
Thanks. I was really hoping for something less intrusive, maybe some CSC edit fix, or some such.

Welp, the 7.0 update is here, and it didn't fix my issue, in fact now I can't even get LTE data as I used to get. :crying:
So I had this issue when I first got the nougat update. When I got my S7 I put in my brothers sim card to made sure it worked on Verizon cause i was buying it from someome and anyway I activated my straight talk verizon SIM and everything was great until I got the update and my service was weird and I didn't know what to do and then it dawned on me, I put in an actual verizon SIM card, doesn't need to be active let it register and then put your SIM back in and everything was great! Hope this helps...
Switched to TotalWireless, phone works now. They first sent me a SIM which didn't work, then had to send a different, post-paid one.
I now suspect if ECO also sent me a postpaid based SIM it would start working. Things are always way too complicated when Verizon is involved.
S7 U with Verizon MVNO

I'm tempted to try this as I'm having the same problem with my 935U and Xfinity Mobile (Verizon MVNO) SIM, instead of connecting to the Verizon network, it connects to network 123456. I did load the 935V firmware, which worked fine, but I'd prefer to return to the U firmware if this would work. Is this still working for you, and if so, do you just need to put the regular verizon sim in once and from then on the MVNO sim will work, and continue to work including after a reboot?

I put in a Verizon SIM in it once and that was after the nougat update. But every time the phone restarts, I have to make a phone call for it to connect to the service or it will just stay stuck in "searching for service" but once the phone call connects, I hang up and everything works as it should.

Thanks, strange problem. I'll probably just stick with the 935V firmware for now as that's working fine (just have the Verizon bloat and failing the hotspot check). I also have a dialog going with Samsung support to see if they're aware of the problem and have a fix.
I've got a very weird issue with my Galaxy S8 (SM-G950FD)
After working fine for about 1.5 years on the network it suddenly wasn't able to make and receive calls anymore on the Lebara (Vodafone) network in Australia.
The issue spontaneously disappeared a few hours after it first surfaced but reappeared and has not gone away since.
Internet and Txt/MMS are working normally. But when someone calls me it goes straight to voicemail and when I call nothing happens for a minute or so and then it "disconnects" but no tone
When I go into the phone app and try to retrieve settings like caller ID and/or forwarding it gives the following error:
Failed to read data
Something went wrong. Check your
Sim Card or network connection,
then try again
When I insert the sim into an S7 it's working. When I insert the sim from the S7 into the S8 (Optus network) the S8 works as well.
I've performed a factory reset (without restoring the settings)
I've gotten a new sim and Lebara has ported the number to it but that didn't help
Being a dual sim I've tried using the shared sd/sim slot but same issue.. data/mms/txt working no voice.
I've tried copying the apn settings the S7 displays with the Lebara sim to the S8 but that didn't help either.
I've now used Odin to flash the phone back to the Oreo version with the December 2018 security update and that didn't help either.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
I've managed to narrow down the issue a bit.
Also went out to purchase a Vodafone Pre-paid sim. That one didn't work either at first but after some troubleshooting with support of Vodafone we've found out that the S8 doesn't connect to the 3G network of Vodafone Australia.
When I have the SIM of another provider in there and limited the network mode to 2G/3G autoconnect the phone just finds the 2 other networks on 3G (AFAIK 2G has been phased out).
I've tried to get into the advanced service mode but this doesn't seem to be possible anymore.
Is there a way to try to see which bands are active on the S8 and better yet enable them all?
