US 3G or GPRS carrier

Hi,
I'm going to NYC early May.
Can you tell me if there 's a good prepaied SIM card that's compatible with 3g or edge. I dont wanna use roaming in the US but I still wanna use the data connexion to get news, weather, aGps and other infos.
Thanx for your help
BTW: I searched on google... too many commercial sites!!!
Cheers
No one really knows ???
the only one i can think of is AT&T, and im not entirely sure if its true 3G yet or not. sorry man, we in the states are a bit backwards.
thanx for ure answer
http://gigaom.com/2008/05/05/t-mobile-launches-us-3g-network/
TMobile just rolled out it's 3G in NY
HTH!

when will we all actually have wide spread 3g on tmobile?

I'm not with tmobile, but I love my new phone. I would switch over tomorrow if I had any idea when I could expect to have 3g anywhere near me. granted with at&t I won't have 3g anyway, with the N1, but that's the point. there's no reason for me to switch and break my contract, when it won't help my cause at all. I don't know if it's because tmobile has no Idea when they'll get to us here in York, PA. or if they just don't tell people because they know if they're not getting faster service soon enough, they just won't make the switch. It has to be killing the sales of the N1 when people on at&t that don't live in a tmobile 3g area see that they'll be giving up their 3g access. that said I will say that I've been using my phone all day on edge and when available WiFi, and it hasn't been too painful, but when you have hardware like this, you want it to be fully functioning, and bad a*%. come on TM get us what we need. I do realize that part of the problem is the government not getting off their frequencies, but this has to change so that what google is trying to do, by offering this phone with no strings, or locks I should say, can actually work. Go google, and tmobile for the effort, I love my N1. I would just love it more with fully functioning 3G.
P.S.
if you're with me and wanna help tmobile get it's baught and payed for air waves from uncle sam, so that we can all benefit. follow this link, http://www.t-mobile-takeaction.com/
customer, or not and let's make this thing happen.
it all depends on sales man... if everyone in york is on att or verizon then tmobile may not give too ****s about service in york pa because the open market there is extremely small, the only way to do business there would be to get people to switch over and with the typical cell phone user that is not likely because of the benefits of mobile to mobile. i wouldnt want to switch if EVERYONE in my town had the same company, thats free calling all the time...
the first areas to target for expansion of service are large populous areas and high traffic areas such as along highways... the only thing york has going for it is the interstate running through it, other than that push for people to switch to tmobile or you are out of luck lol
The spectrum that T-Mobile purchased is still in use by some government agencies. There are places where 3G is fully set up and ready to go, they're just waiting on the spectrum to be abandoned.
If 3G has been installed in a city near you and you still do not have coverage, you probably will not GET coverage for years. They are still in the "adding cities" phase, and not really gradually expanding their network yet.
If there is no 3G in your nearby city, hope and pray you are covered when 3G comes.
If you live in the country, you are SOL with Tmo 3G.
Tmo 3G sucks ! I get 3G in living room and EDGE in bathroom ! Went skiing and my friend with ATT was streaming music on 3G and I had GPRS roaming.....
.....and all this while Sprint rolling 4G already

better than no 3g at all. at&t no chance of 3g on N1, atleast not yet...
Being a current spring user, but leaving spring for TMO, as soon as N1 lands, I'm a little hurt, and will cry my man tears (properly cried on the inside, as man tears are) the next time I hear spring referred to as spring
is this going to get to be a meme on xda's little corner of the intertubes?

Just Baught A Mytouch 3g Need Help

Hello I just Baught A Mytouch 3g Yesterday from an individual so she sold me 2tmobile mytouches for 200 well now i find out tmobile doesnt support coverage in my area is there anyway of unlockin the mytouch without doin the signup thing thanks in advanced
Just get your f**king money back!!!
Or you can take it to the nearest T-Mobile Store, tell them your story about not checking the coverage in your area before buying the phones, and just hope they will unlock it for you (this might cost some money)

I'll give ya your $200 back for both
No problem getting rid of the phones
You should have no problem reselling those phones for $200. If you lived in Central Florida, they would go fast. I would even buy them.
If T Mobile doesn't cover you area, advertise and sell them. Get your money back. You can have them unlocked. But there are certain things that won't function correctly. And, I've only seen people use them with AT&T. But, with the problems that come with unlocking them for another service provider, it may not be worth it to you.

Will T-Mobile US HD2 work on ATT 3G?

Hi,
i dont want to use t-Mobile but not sure if HD2 can be used in ATT 3G. Is this possible?
Thanks.
No

No.
EDGE for AT&T.
No.
You'll need to buy one from Australia.
Look at at&t's 3G bands, and T-Mobile US 3G bands. Then you will understand why. . .
It may have both chips inside. We need dig it to find out.
Damn it Tito, you broke the trend!
my father is a businessman and he has a extra line open on his t-mobile family plan account that no one uses... it doesn't even have a phone ... he keeps it open just in case one of his clients need to use a phone number when they are on business ventures together.. either way.. i'm ATT and personally i love it.. i think ATT is one of the best phone service providers as far as reception and network speeds... customer service is another issue lol... but either way... as a student i'm spending way too much money on my phone bill.. $130 every month for ATT (I pay for it) My father actually wants me to go over to t-mobile and take that free line that he has open...
now my sister who lives in my apartment with me.. she has t-mobile and the reception at home totally sucks... its about 1-3 bars and the call quality isn't even that great... but if i decide to take that line.. that means i no longer have to pay for my phone bill.. which totally rocks... but i can't get over the fact that i'm gonna lose the ability of having full bars everywhere i went... the only reason why i actually decided to go through with it... is the HD2... if the HD2 was exclusively for ATT or something.. i would've just stuck with my 130 monthly bill... the fact that its exclusively for t-mobile makes my decision not as horrible...
yea.. pointless story... but i felt like sharing.. sorry for hijacking thread...

It doesn't. Supported frequencies on the US HD2 are 1700/2100, Euro & Asia spec one is 900/2100, the Telstra one is 850/2100 so that supports ATT 3G, and your only option.
You gotta pay to play.

For all those against the Att buying T-mobile

Okay I was on engadget and saw it http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/30/fcc-opens-floor-for-public-comment-on-atandt-t-mobile-deal/ go to it if you want but please fill this out so we don't get bought out please
kind of old news man, that first got announced quite some time ago.
But I am totally in favor of that not happening, I hate AT&T and dont want their customers hogging our bandwidth.
Plus they monopolize in the GSM network....not good.
Go fill out the FCC form to tell the FCC this shouldn't happen.

If it doesn't go through I'll prolly go back to AT&T anyways. AT&T is building their network out. T-Mobile is standing still and thinks GPRS roaming is all their customers need in a ton of places. Not gonna deal with that much longer now that AT&T has a new active HSPA+ tower < 1 mile away...
A lot of people around her who had T-Mobile (they were the only thing that worked) are now switching to AT&T for better coverage.
Impossible to travel with a phone that's dropping coverage left and right, and it kills your battery life to boot...
hmmm..I was gonna do it but I got lazy...too much work :/...hopefully sprint can make a good case for us
No merging. Monopoly will kill us
Welcome to corporate america!! This can and will happen. You can fill out all the petitions in the world to request for AT&T to not be able to buy out T-Mobile but believe me; it WILL happen.
