[Q] Possible to get the Native Android Browser on Lollipop? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

for whatever reason Verizon removed the Native browser on the s5, which sucks because it is much faster than chrome and has features like airview. I've seen instructions on how to get it for kitkat from the at&t version but it appears not to work on 5.0. Has anyone tried this? Thanks for any help.

Need some help please

The problem I am having is that whenever I install a i9505 based Rom on my att s4 everything is great until I try to use any browser other than the Samsung browser. For some reason browsers that scroll buttery smooth on att and T-Mobile software lag and stutter on i9505 based Roms. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is and really need some help.

Try using a 'disable scrolling cache' mod.

AT&T Galaxy S4 with GPE Room Graphic Issue

Hey All,
I tried searching this thread before posting this and didn't find too much. I installed a Google play edition ROM on my AT&T S4 (i377). It works fine so far but I've been noticing that there are some green lines through the middle of the screen. They look like graphical glitches. I'm willing to accept it if thats just the name of the game, but just wanted to know if anything could be done, or if another rom that works with this phone is better.
It doesn't seem to come up in screenshots either. Anyway let me know if anyone knows something about this issue.
Thanks

Go to your developer options and check if any drawing/rendering screen options are enabled; some of these options can cause screen flashing/margin lines/rendering line updated/etc. If you have any overclocking enabled in a custom kernel restore your GPU and CPU frequencies back to stock and reboot If neither of those don't fix your issue I suggest using a more stable and well known ROM. I myself use a rom by @Task650. Zero issues with it and it's stability is great, very lightweight.
No glitches here. Must be an issue with the room you are running. I run ibl4st1ds kangabean 4.2.2 ROM with the mf3 radio. I side loaded samsung shealth and downloaded watch on from the market. Many Samsung apps work with a simple sideload with the GE ROMS.

These specific apps have never and never will work on non-Samsung ROMs. Samsung wrote them specifically to never work on anything but their own firmware. Plenty of alternatives on Play out there that do the specific jobs better.

Well, yeah, that's the point. Bad behavior is exactly that. Leave the dev tools to the devs.

Out of curiosity, what does the S4 stock browser do that is different and/or better than Chrome? The stock browser on the S3 didn't seem to do anything different than Chrome from what I could tell. Not sure if that is different on S4 as I skipped that one.

It plays embedded youtube videos without problem. Some on chrome have audio problems, either no audio or it comes out of the ear speaker instead of the rear. That's one thing I can think of that's better

Stock S4 Browser for S5
Well I like the ability to scroll through pages using the sensors like on the s4. I have enabled the hidden features that they have blocked on the s5 with Any Cut. I have shortcuts for Air gestures, Air view, Air wake up, Android beam, Motion settings, Smart Scroll, Download booster and Notification Access. Chrome is ok but I would like to side load the Stock Browser APK. Any help is well appreciated. Thank you
Chrome doesn't support Flash Player. Some web pages still use it, and it's annoying when I get a pop up saying I can't view something.

5.0 vs 4.4.4

I was running Rick's ROM for a few months and seems to be doing everything well enough for me but I tried Lollipop and didn't like it because of a few issues one of which being the alarm not working on mute so I went back to Rick's Rom for a few more weeks until the OC4 came out. I'm on it right now and dealing with the muting issues with setting it to vibrate and knocking down notification vibrations to zero and it works. But, I'm not seeing what the big deal if the Lollipop is. Questions for those who are more savvy than I am: What does really Lollipop do that KitKat doesn't do for us? I just have not seen anything that really stands out. My battery lasts about the same, the sounds is the same, screen is the same, reception is about the same so what's the advantage for the S5? I just don't get it?
Lollipop adds material design, new recent apps, new security features, ART which (should) be faster, and the new notification settings. Also, there are roms based on the international OB7 and OC7 that you can download that work the verizon s5 and bring back the old notifications with alarms on mute and such.
Any ROM you have tried that would give me the mute function that would give me the Lollipop benefits? I thought the International ROM didn't have HD voice, though? What's the difference between the OB7 and OC7? I tried Googling it and I can't find anything. Thanks for your help. I'm on this right now.

Yes, they all the ob7 or oc7 ones are lollipop based and they have all lollipop features in samsung roms and bring the mute feature back. They don't have hd voice, although that doesn't affect me. The only difference is bug fixes between the two.
