[Q] How to transfer files while stuck in recovery mode - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I flashed a custom recovery today and accidentally wiped everything, including the ROM file I had copied over while I still had my previous ROM. Problem is, I have no idea how to get the ROM file onto the phone now. Usually I use my microSD card but for some reason no recovery will recognize my card (tried mulitple recoveries, and cards, probably a problem with the slot) and now I have no way to get a file onto my phone. I tried using the USB mount but when I click it nothing happens on my computer. So how do I get my GAPPS and ROM onto my phone so I can flash them? Thanks!

Which recovery did you flash? With TWRP I get a popup on my computer when I connect via USB and can copy files over. You will need to DL the samsung USB drivers and install them on your PC.

You can also use ADB sideload to transfer a your necessary files to your phone

Tired to update, stuck in reboot loop.

Unsure of what happened. I attempted (Using ROM Manager) to try a different ROM (Virt), rebooted, and I am now stuck in a constant reboot loop at the "HTC" logo. I am still able to get into recovery, but somehow my backups are gone, SD card shows almost 4gigs open. I did backup my SD card (with recovery) on my PC. S-off, hboot: .79, radio at 2.15.00.07.28.
I've attempted factory reset, clearing cache / davlik, but I am still unable to clear this.
Any help greatly appreciated.
If you can get into recovery then flash a new ROM from within there.
The problem is getting it on the SD card.. I don't have a SD card reader. Is that what is needed? I have Skyraider 3.3.3 on my desktop, that would probably be the easiest way. Is there any way to transfer it to the phone without one while in recovery?
Update: was able to get SD recognized by PC, copied Skyraider_333 over to SD. Installing via recovery as we speak. (Fingers crossed)

Of course just go to mounts and storage in clockwork mod recovery, you can mount your USB storage from there and then put ROMs onto the card.
Working... Installed OTA without difficulties. Only issue is that it took twice to install, but so far so good.
Once again, thank you!

Stuck in CWM no valid rom to flash

So I just repaired my broken screen and after booting I had an old custom rom on my Nexus so I downloaded a new rom with Gapps file. Well for some reason I decided to delete some older files, which included some older roms. Well the rom failed and now my nexus stays booted into CWM recovery. It won't let me mount the storage to add files from my computer for some reason. Also I've tried Rom toolkits and they keep getting stuck waiting for device.
There must be some easy way to ADB push some files to my download folder right?

1) First, beware of discharging the tablet by letting it sit with either the bootloader (fastboot mode) or the custom recovery running. I will presume you can get the tablet into full-shutdown when you are not working on it... unless you say otherwise. Make sure you keep the tablet charged to prevent the situation from getting worse.
2) Your mention of "mounting" is a little bit ambiguous; but as an alternative you can put a ROM on a USB memory stick and mount it via a OTG cable. TWRP can do this; I'm not sure about CWM as I don't use it.
3) Yes you should be able to push a big ROM file via adb when a custom recovery is running.
There a a couple of things that could prevent this:
a) you don't have drivers on your Win-doze PC working correctly,
b) you have a flaky USB hardware link,
c) the ext4 filesytem which is in the userdata partition is so bolluxed up that it can't be mounted, so even if there are no problems such as (a) or (b), there is no "destination" for the ROM file to be copied to. You could try to flash a ROM directly from an OTG-mounted USB key, but it will still fail if the /data partition ca't be mounted.
Note that condition (b) above sometimes has the behavior that small files such as the bootloader or boot image can be transferred (e.g. via fastboot flash or adb push), but larger files will error out or stall. That is simply because if you have a flaky conection, the probability of failure increases in proportion to the amount of data being transferred. Sometimes these types of problems can be resolved by using a different USB port on the PC, or different data cable; other times using a different PC.
From your description it is not clear whether you have condition (a), (b) or (c) going on; please clarify.
Thanks for the reply. I used the toolkit which was awesome. Side loaded factory image and finally it worked
I somehow deleted my recovery as well so no adb but fast boot worked fine. Needless to say I thought I was bricked thank god for developers

[Q] Bricked phone - please help

Hi!
Basically every time I got OTA update notification, I installed it from PC since there could be some problems with OTA. But today I had a busy day and totally forgot to do that, so I just accepted the OTA update. Now the only screen I have access to is Philz Recovery. I've tried sideload, adb pushing ROM onto sdcard and installing it from there and using download mode (doesn't work at all) and I have no idea what else can I do. One more thing I noticed is that /system/ partition keeps unmounting after reboot and sideloading.
Is there anyone that can help me?
Reflash stock ROM
sent from my T-Mobile LG-VS980
I can't access Download Mode, it boots straight into recovery.
get a usb otg cable and put a rom on on a flash drive (or micro sd card with reader), then connect the usb otg cable and boot to recovery then flash the rom. Also try to wipe cache/davlik and see if that helps
Which option in Philz should I choose to find the ROM on pendrive?

Potentially bricked S4 (GT-I9505)?

Hello all,
I decided to install a recovery mode called Philz touch v6.07.6, which completed successfully and I can access to both download mode and this recovery menu. Then used Kingroot to root the phone. I then tried to use the ADB system to install a ROM due to not having an SD card at the time. I had chosen the option to clean install which deleted cache and formatted certain folders. The installation process then failed and I can only access download mode and recovery and my phone does not connect to my laptop anymore, or any other. I cannot seem to connect my phone to any computer, either with different cables or USB port.
I've uninstalled KIES, smart switch. uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers but my phone still does not connect to Odin or ADB server. I cannot install a new recovery menu as I cannot see my phone on Odin.
Thinking an SD card with a ROM would resolve the issue I purchased a card, added a ROM to it but I cannot find anything I put on the sd card. Choosing install from zip then SD card it shows clockworkmod/ but nothing else. Using free browse mode i've looked into every folder and cannot find anything that is on my SD card. I see no option under mounts and storage to mount the SD card
Thank you for your time and if you can advise me on what I am doing wrong.
Edit: I forgot to mention - When powering the phone on normally without trying to get into recovery or download mode, the top left of the screen says:
"Kernel is not seanandroid enforcing"
Set Warranty Bit : kernel
You do realize the S4 has an internal storage, right? It's a built-in microSD card.
So you absolutely don't need one to use and/or flash custom ROMs on it.
Your second mistake was flashing PhilZ recovery. It's a mistake because that recovery is outdated.
Your third mistake was trying to flash the ROM via ADB when you can simply flash it with the recovery.
The reason why the ROM zip doesn't show up in your recovery id because, most probably, the internal storage is selected by default. So, either navigate to the microSD card folder or move the ROM zip to your internal storage.
I also recommend switching to TWRP recovery.
@Aysta, if it's not too late for you, just flash the latest twrp Recovery ". Tar. File" in Odin (>AP) by switching off the device in download mode. After that just copy your desired custom rom and gapps to your sd-card by an sd-card reader in Windows and the rest you know, which as i assume, will follow... [emoji6]
P. S I just experienced the same yesterday evening when i bricked one of my Sammy's while using an experimental kernel (. Img) file.
Anyhow, this just solved everything for me [emoji4]

You have to get your phone working with Odin, it's your only way out.

"this doesnt make sense than, either"
And i overlooked it. Can happen mate.
Thank you for your assistance guys, i've still not been able to flash a new recovery as my phone just will not connect. I read installing older drivers helps but it didn't. Older odin didn't work. I need to access an operating system which isn't Windows 10 according to another website. So will create a virtual machine and let you all know how it goes.
Ubuntu has worked! i installed jodin3 and my phone shows up on there while in download mode

That's why i told you it's the Only way, Odin must detect your phone, otherwise you're screwed.

Went back to stock and now can't update some apps nor see internal storage on windows

Hi!
I was running OOS10.0.0 and tried going to LineageOS 17.1. I Followed all instructions on their website, updated to 10.0.1, installed the required firmware, lineageOS recovery and then the OS. Everything was fine but then i decided to move back to stock, so i downloaded OOS10.0.1, put it on my phone and tried flashing it using lineageos recovery, but that failed, so i tried one of the custom recoveries form this link )https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-10-0-ota-for-oneplus-5-cheeseburger.3627003/) . I was able to format the whole phone, data, and settings and flashed the new stock rom, but afterwards, i am not able to update some of the preinstalled apps (e.g. Gboard) and when i connect the phone to my windows PC, i can see the phone on MY PC, but the internal memory shows up empty (but if i use the stock file explorer, i can see a few files and folders). I also made sure that USB PREFERENCES was set to FILE TRANSFER).
Apparently when i formated the internal memory using TWRP that might have caused a problem, so as per this post's suggestion (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-oneplus-5-cheeseburger.3627003/post-83990079) i installed stock recovery and formatted everything, but then i am not able to connect the phone to my pc to copy the OOS10.0.1 installation file. Tried sideloading it with ADB but it says "error" after a few minutes.
Then, i tried installing TWRP agian, copying the rom file into the internal memory, and then reinstalling stock recovery. This enables me to select the option to install from internal memor and i can see the ROM file, but when i select it, nothing happens.
So, i tried once again and formatted my phone using stock recovery, then isntalled TWRP Blu sparks, and used it to install the ROM, but then, the same problem keeps happening (can update some apps nor access internal memory). I also tried using OOS10.0.0 but the results are the same.
Could it be that something is wrong with my partitions? if so, how can i fix it?
Thanks!
