i don't think that you can use the sim card without the tray because the tray keep the sim in place. as far as the lg g2 tray i don't think it will fit (lg optimus g tray didn't perfectly fit on nexus 4 an it is it's twin brother)but i cannot be sure. if you lost your tray ebay has oone quite cheap

Dont take the risk just buy a new tray for 2-3dollars
Yup, trying to force it in with another holder or some other method can result in permanent hardware damage. Not worth the risk.

I have just tried for the second time to activate and use a sim card that comes with the G2 and it will not work with the Nexus One. The gold contacts are of a different size and shape.
make sure you are putting it in properly. it is the same card size. the way the n1 recieves the card is different the the g2.
i have had no issues with switching back/forth from g2/n1.

Last I heard SIM cards adhere to ISO 7816. ISO 7816-2 specifies the location and sze of contact plates. The SIM cards should be interchangable.
Sim cards are a universal standard. As long as it's not one of those micro sims, it will work in the N1.

Indeed, you might find that the contacts can look a little different between SIMs, but they will all work on anything.
One of my kids inserted the ATT sim card without the tray. That is, he just slid the bare sim card into the slot.
I can't figure out how to get it out of the slot!
Any suggestions realllly appreciated.

Did you try tweezers? I put a microSD card in wrong and I used tweezers to pull it back out with minimal damage. Hope I can be of assistance.

Folks,
can i put my iphone 5 nano sim in the Galaxy S4 without an adapter. seems all local store here dont have such an adaptor.
Im gonna buy an S4 and i want to test the the phone works with my nano sim at the store.... Will i encounter any issue getting in and out ?
thanks
tal
It wont fit properly. You can always do ghetto cellotape method which works but might cause frequent problems of sim card read error due to sim coming off the tape.
You can also make your own adaptor using old sim card and scotch/cello tape.
And adaptors are easily available at local stores here and ebay / amazon.
Just sim alone wont fit directly. Nano sim is narrow in width as well as length.

Hi Guys,
I love my Nexus (Rooted, Specific ROM BeanStalk).
It was working like a charm.
My company change the carrier and issue new SIM.
I have to use a nano sim card (due to IPHONE 5 policy - in the company).
I then used an holder for the nano Card.
I inserted it, it worked well one to two hours and now, not anymore.
The NEXUS is not seeing any SIM card, mine and another from my wife in the micro sim format.
My SIM card is working in other phone, even with the holder.
I did a reset factory and installed the ROM again from scratch.
What are your suggestion ?
Thanks

Hi guys, i'm just before buying an LG G3 with SIM slot/tray problem.
The seller said that it doesn't detect the SIM card.
Seller seems a honest guy, but it's hard to understand that he didn't check if the warranty would cover it or even if it's possible to repair it.
Heck, that's why i'm turning to you guys. Does anyone have any opinnion on this topic? Did anyone replace the SIM tray?
Is it possible that the SIM tray / slot isn't the problem for not detecting the SIM card?
Thanks a lot for your answers, bye!
I had a SIM card tray go out on my G3 and my carrier (AT&T) just sent a new one, and I sent my non functioning phone back through the manufacturers warranty. New one works like a charm.
