Hello.
First of all I'm sorry if this has been posted somewhere else. I searched and there's nobody that got the same problem as mine.
My problem is a little bit different than most of other users here. Instead of not having any sound, I only don't have any sound when making calls. Even the ringing sound when we supposed to hear after we call someone is not there. Other audio works perfectly, not to mention videos, voip, etc.
and also somehow using bluetooth device for calling works flawlessly
Here's a little info about my phone: (obtained from Samsung Phone Info App)
- i9505 LTE (international)
- Using GPE rom 5.0.1 (clean flash from Slimkat)
- bootloader: I9505XXUFNBE
- baseband: I9505XXUFNBE
- pda: I9505GUEUDNL3
- csc: I9505GXARDNL3
I pretty much tried almost everything I know from the forum (updating baseband, wifi-fix, etc)
I can say that the only think I haven't done is clean flash using odin back to stock firmware, which I'm trying not to do because my internet access right now is pretty much impossible to download file as big as 1GB++
I do really hope you guys can help me.
Thanks.
Facing the exact same problem on my Galaxy S4. Any solutions?

Hi Guys,
I'm from Australia and recently bought an Optus Galaxy S4 4G. Strangely, the model number is i9507. I double-checked this online and usually weird model numbers are just carrier-spin-offs. So I went ahead to root and flash just like you would with an International i9505.
So far no problems - 4.3.x PA rom works absolutely fine.
BUT:
I've tried some Kit Kat roms recently and they all flash fine but give me 'mobile network not available'. Strangely though, I can receive calls/text and talk on the phone, but when I try to dial or send text messages, I can't do it. My reception bar is completely empty as well.
WiFi is totally fine, just no data and mobile network
I've tried messing with the 'network operators' setting and if i select my carrier (I have a Vodafone sim) I'll get network reception until I turn off the screen and then my mobile network becomes unavailable again
Not sure what the problem is; modem? APN? or roms not suitable for my phone?
Current info:
ROM - [ROM] KOT49H【4.4.2】 GOOGLE EDITION 4.4.2 by Danvdh, Kryten2k35 & Ktoonsez
Baseband - i9507XXUAMH2

I've been flashing for a while now but it's usually just basic stuff so you can probably tell I'm pretty amateur lol.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks =)

Hi Rich
As your baseband is quite out of sync with the firmware you are trying to run (MH2 is from 4.2.2 ,,, right?) I would suggest you change your baseband (modem) flashing an equivalent to the ROM firmware from here.
I've got yesterday the exactly same behaviour when finally and reluctantly I've added a data plan. I was running a successful low-baseband + high-firmware because was setted to "GSM Only" (try it ... will work flawless). When I've switched to LTE got what you've described in the face too . I've promptly updated my baseband and now all is fine
EDIT: please do nothing of the above described BEFORE taking a EFS backup with every tool you can find and preserving them in several highly fortified locations and 2 or 3 K7 Tapes too . Have an ODIN flashable copy of your MH2 baseband is advisable too.
Hope I've helped and please share your experience.
Nice regards.

Hey thanks for the reply! Helps heaps =)
While I still had those roms installed I did try flash a few modems within Odin, all failed though =S
Which one should I be flashing?
I believe I tried XXUFNA1 but the flash just doesn't go through
Does it make a difference which rom I flash the new modem from? I.e. flash when the new modem now or flash the new modem on the kitkat rom?
I'm currently using Pacman 4.3.1 since it's perfectly fine. Just can't wait to get on a KitKat rom though! haha

Hi Rich
Sorry, may be my fault, but quite didn't got your
You may proceed having the below as a rule of thumb:
Your baseband (modem) version should always match your ROM (firmware) version.
Failure to flash something is never good signal. As you have an i9507 (I own the 5) is very advisable to flash a modem built for your S4 flavour.
The above rule should apply to it too so, if the only modem available for the i9507 is the MH2 your firmware have to match or these issues reported will return.
Did you tested the "GSM Only" option to corroborate (or not) my hyphothesis? With this config, you should perceive no signal drops when waked. I know it isn't a viable operational mode but ... just for fun
Nice regards and keep sharing

Hi there,
I've been looking around this forum for more informations but was not able to find the exact answer, so here i am.
I'am using Galaxy S4 I9505 LTE ROOT, Honk Kong release:
Kitkat 4.4.2
PDA: I9505ZHUFNB3
CSC: I9505ZZHFNB3
MODEM: I9505ZHUFNB3
IMEI: FINE
My issue is unstable mobile network.
Sometimes working well, then unable to find any network for a day or fast reconnect using the connexion pannel.
I've been looking for threads about modem issues and i've found plenty of version but no one for this model in china (it's not sell in china) , it seems that i have the latest one for HongKong.
Is it possible to install another modem on my phone and do you have any idea which one is better for China mobile network and will also be able to work In the rest of the world.
I also need this version not to break my wifi or my sound cause i heard it might be possible with some realease.
Ressources i've been reading:

GALAXY S4 (I9500/I9505) GSM / NON-HLOS - MODEM'S Collection Odin/CWM/TWRP)Post 2549(
Big thanks to those contributors,
Thanks for your help.

Any one having any idea?
My phone was working like normal for 2 week and the no network found came back yesterday.
It found nothing with mobile network search, same for automatic register on the mobile network ...
Iit's very boring cause i'am actually looking for a job, mean nobody can contact me by phone ...
I've been looking around the internet for days and still dont find any solution.
Please someone help!

Doubt
Hi, good night,
I live in Brazil. Does anyone of this firmwares works for me?
Thanks
No sound in calls after flashing
I flashed this along with CWM 6.0.4.6 yesterday, and when I was making a call this morning I noticed that the in-call sound was gone. Everything else is working, but there's no sound either in the earpiece, headset or speaker.
Anyone know what might be causing this, and how to fix it?
Flashed the nordic countries, and this is the current versions:
AP: I9506XXUCNG3
CP: I9606XXUCNF3
CSC: I9506NEECNG3
Edit: Solved! Disabling some settings in xposed and rebooting fixed it.

I`m exactly in same situation as you, but I`m pretty sure there`s no another method. I decided to wait for month and then root my i9506.

Exactly the same case here too: upgraded my old S3 to a S4 i9506 black edition last week and now waiting a moment until rooting again for the reasons you mentioned before. But I've always had this thing bothering me while waiting for daring to root: what are we waiting for? Something unexpected and bad happening to the new phone? Just wondering, since I'm not even sure what I'm always waiting for with every new phone I buy even though I know perfectly well that I will need the root sooner or later (preferably sooner).
Also updated to latest -NJ -firmware and working just fine, haven't spotted anything wrong at all after a week of heavy usage.
P. S. This reply doesn't belong in Q/A section I believe, but it's apparently forced there because of my low post count...

Hi dear folks at xdadevelopers,
I've just opened this thread because I've got an unsolved problem with my flashed GT-I9505. I've read some threads with similar issues described but this wasn't meant to help me.
So the issue I am experiencing is when I first flashed my S4 the external speaker stopped working. Everything is working fine: Phone calls; WiFi; headphone jack; everything... except for the speaker.
To my shame I have to admit that I do not have the faintest clue what my CPC/PDA/ROM versions have been before the flashing process. Before flashing a custom ROM I rooted it with CF Autoroot. Until then the sound was still working. Right after that I somehow flashed cyanogenmod (CM11) ROM. My external sound is gone since then.
I've tried several approaches: Factory reset, wipe, some stock ROM (as said I don't know which version was originally installed). In between I also lost WiFi functionality, but that was fixed with the installation of a different ROM. I tried CM10/11 stable, CM12 nightly, I9505XXUGNK4_I9505OXAGNK4_DBT .... and as of now I stuck with the latest 12.0 nightly ROM - which is perfectly running (having said that the external sound is missing).
Maybe this has to do with some of the missing information which should appear in the "Phone INFO" app:
(Phone is a european S4 model, non-branded, from vodafone's subsidiary)

With the information given in similar threads (both in this forum and others) I believe that I somehow f*cked up the flashing process, lost some crucial files/information/settings and therefore the phone's external speaker isn't working any more.
Is there any chance of getting back my external sound?
<footnote>
If something doesn't make any sense don't hesitate to point that out.</footnote>
<closing words>
Thanks in advance for any suggestion to get my sound working again!
Marco</closing words>

I don't believe it's a software problem because I never heard this issue due to rom flashing.
My guess is that you just had bad luck and the speaker is broken.
The part costs around 4 dollar and is not that hard to replace.
Since it happens on several roms it can't be a software issue.
Pretty much all files required by the phone are in the rom zip.
You can't mess up the flashing process unless the phone runs out of battery whilst flashing or anything else that would cause the phone to turn off.
Even if you somehow messed up the flash, by re-flashing or flashing another rom the problem should've been fixed.
Since it happens on all roms, it can't be because of flashing.
Another thing to consider is that the kernel controls the hardware. The kernel is the link between the hardware and the software. Changing the kernel might help. But most roms come with their own kernel. Since you changed a few roms, and therefor also a few kernels, I don't think it is kernel related either.
After reading your replies I hoped that I was just left with a broken speaker. So I tested mine on a fully working Galaxy S4 (fortunately I got one from a friend of mine. Besides a broken display and VIA instead DBT everything is working fine so far. No root, stock ROM.). But unfortunately my speaker is actually working on that one So it is not the hardware (except if there's some broken connection somewhere else)?
Would you think it might help if I'd make a full backup of my friend's device and restore it on mine? Or which benefits could I gain from the other device?
whooop whooop
following your conclusion and expertise I swapped some other modular parts (inter alia the part which is connecting the upper unit with the bottom one) from my friends phone and finally my speaker is working again. (I love the S4 for beeing built that modular way!)
Thank you for pointing out that this couldn't be a software issue! I'd have flashed ROMs with no end of trouble.
Regards,
Marco
