[SOLVED] i337 Flashing Modem from MK2 or MBL to NC1? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

[Q] i337 Flashing Modem from MK2 or MBL to NC1?
Hi,
My phone build number is i337ucufnc1 and my original baseband version is i337ucufnc1.
However, after following this tutorial "Possible method to SIM unlock on MK2 *must be rooted*" Method 2 , my phone was sim-unlocked successfully but now the baseband version is MDL (and I flashed MK2 later and it worked) I couldn't go back to NC1. I flashed it with I337_NC1_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5 but It didn't work.
Edited: I forgot to mention that the Wi-Fi is not working.
Can you please guys guide me on how to restore it back to NC1?
Thanks!

Have you tried doing a data factory reset in recovery? It may not help but worth a shot. Try it after flashing NC1 again.

I am about to try to flash it with the combined MK2 tar (found here)
Edit: It failed.
I tried to root it using Towelroot/Saferoot/Kingo Root but none of them worked.

Dude that is really odd, I have no idea as I have not come across that problem. You tried flashing NC1 and MK2 with odin and no dice? Have you tried flashing the NB1 .tar?
In order to root you need to flash the NB1 kernel I think it is, but if you flash the entire NB1 stock .tar file it should flash the kernel too.

Alright, I flashed it with ALL_ATT_I337UCUFNB1_I337ATTFNB1_505595_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 in Odin and it worked like a charm! thanks a million!!

[solved] pit file not found error

Many posted here about a PIT file not found during odin flash which results to FAIL by Odin.
This is how i solved it.
Was on stock MDL when i tried to root using MOTOCHOPPER which failed with SUPERUSER icon in my menu.
in was not rooted and had the superuser app in my menu. so tried to reset the phone from settings/accounts/backup and reset, which
resulted in data wipe but problem not solved. so i tried to install OUDHS Cwm based recovery through odin. this also failed first but managed to install it using a diff comp. now after this i had a binary update installation failed issue also.
I downloaded Odexed No Data Wipe Zip from the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258384
and flashed it with the cwm based recovery. the rom has su and fresh binary in it so my binary issue was solved.

see the above image, that started after i flashed the Odexed No Data Wipe Zip and my wifi was not switching on. got stuck again.
i had read in some post that many devs do not include PIT file in custom rom to avoid ^%$%$#$ during flashing, crossed my finger and
used qbking's method to unroot, that is by downloading stock MDC firmware through the samsung site and oidining it with only autoreboot checked, flashed perfectly fine without pit file error. now my phone is completely stock as in out of the box i got the MDL ota as well.
not gonna mess anymore anytime soon.

Hey guys.. Few Note 3 Questions

I'm 99% sure I'm picking up a pristine unrooted note 3 (vzw) on Swappa.
A few things I wanted to know...
I need my root, that is very important to me. What is the current firmware update and is it able to to rooted w/ safestrap?
If not, what it the most recent firmware that can be rooted?
I have done a bit of research of the knox "security" bs. There seems to be a few different methods to root now and keep the flash counter in check.
What is the best and most current way to go about rooting?
Thanks for the help.
It depends on what version rom is in the phone. MI9 you can just odin over a stock rooted rom and then install safe strap. MJ7 you need to use kingo to root then install ss. Neither of these options will trip the Knox counter.
Thanks. Here is a snapshot from the current build the phone is on.

I'm doing as much research as possible on the note 3. I'm coming from a note 2 on beans 22, and formerly sgs3 on beans.
I'm a beans groupie
That's MJ7. Look up kingo and you should figure out anything you need. If you get stuck on something in particular just pm me or ask here. Good luck! NOTE: Don't try to use Odin while you're on MJ7 you'll soft brick and need to flash the.. Pit file.

Trouble installing MK2 Roms

I have a Sprint Galaxy S4, and previously I had the Echoe Galaxy S5 port Rom on my phone. It worked great until I got a new number that needed to be programmed to my phone. Since this Rom isn't optimized for Sprint, it is missing the update data profile setting, and the dialer codes for sprint such as ##update# and ##72786# I would normally use to reprogram the phone doesn't work. So I decided to install a different Rom and I installed the Triforce S4 rom with MK2 modem. But with that modem after the Galaxy S4 splash screen the screen goes black. So I had to go back to the echoe rom that doesn't work.
How do I install a MK2 Rom without my phone freaking out?
Odin the NG2 tar, flash the ROM. I don't recommend trying to downgrade firmware.

Is NG2 the latest modem? I've been in a terrible string of unsuccessful fixes. I've soft bricked it because one of the modem flashes didn't go through, so it shows the missing firmware error when I boot it up. Download mode works, but recovery is dead at the moment...
Yes, it's in the Android Development section, flash in recovery mode through Odin.

Cool. I found a stock NG2 tar. I flashed the NG2 modem and I'm in the process of getting the rom installed via odin. It has made it a lot further than my other attempts, so I think it's good. I guess I was just trying with the wrong modem before.
I'll just have to reroot, but that shouldn't be too bad.

[Q] Odin OD2 --> NG2 Possible

I'm currently on Lollipop OD2, and rooted. Using Odin, can I take the stock NG2 tar and downgrade back to stock Lollipop 4.4.2?
I am assuming it's possible but wonder if the modem/kernel will also make the downgrade appropriately.
Any thoughts?

So I guess I should look for a NG2 Rom then, preferably as close to stock as possible, and then flash it via recovery, correct?
Yep

Unable to update baseband/modem.

Baseband version is currently OA3.
No matter what I do, it's stuck on OA3. I've tried flashing the standalone OD2 modem and I've also tried ODIN'ing the full stock firmware. The baseband does not change. I even found a guide that says ODIN the stock firmware, root and run Triangle Away, then ODIN the stock firmware again. No dice.
Am I stuck on OA3 baseband forever or is there something I"m missing?
Try this, power phone completely down (pull battery out if you want). Boot into download mode and flash modem again.
Deactive reactivation lock if active

Check settings/security/Reactivation Lock, turn it off. Triangle Away hasn't worked since Jelly Bean. Also turn off Auto Reboot and F Time Reset in Odin.
