[Q] Voice Over LTE on Note 4 - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
I have Galaxy note 4 SM-N910U model and where can I enable the voLTE? Samsung told me voLTE support is baked in, but disabled in some hidden menu that they did not disclose. They said they disabled it since this is an unlocked device and not all carriers utilize this voLTE feature. My carrier has voLTE support on their end in all their towers. How can I enable this awesome feature?

I'm also waiting for N910U to have VOLTE

I am waiting for this as well. All it requires is a simple firmware update to the modem that Samsung needs to implement.

To enable it you need to copy CSC files from a compatible network carrier location
CSC files can be extracted from a stock ROM zip,or from an Odin file. But you should also flash the given modem.bin too ,just to be sure
For example,my others.xml had ...
<CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE>false</CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE>
Whereas it should be ..
<CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE>True</CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE>
And now it works...
Google is your friend!!

Questions.
Which one would make it work ?
1) Would simply editing the existing others.xml, (currently does not even have CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE) to add the <CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE>True</CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE> line make it work ?
2) Or should the currrent set of CSC files be replaced by the CSC that is "compatible with network carrier location" & then add the line CscFeature_IMS_EnableVoLTE just in case it is not there ?
3) Then, Should the modem be flashed in the following case ?, I mean the case in which where carrier supports VoLTE on the locally available snapdragon variant of Note4 (having Qualcomm Gobi MDM9x25M modem ) .. but N910U Note4 has a XMM7260 modem.

Hey guys, new here so I may not be doing this right, but, I was wondering if the N910F will be enabling VoLTE in the 6.0 update (Not released on this model/UK yet) or if there's any way to enable it now (trying to keep the stock firmware and software). I know my network (Three UK) supports it but have gotten some pretty avoiding answers from Three basically saying they don't know, so some info would be appreciated. Thanks

VoLTE implementation is unique for every carrier. You need to flash Three UK firmware on your N910F Note 4 device in order use voLTE on their network.

S5 does not support band with 40
All qualcomm varients of Galaxy S5 supports all possible bands. Search for app called "Hidden settings" and switch band to EURO or auto and you would get band 40. I am still trying to figure out the VOLTE code. I will try the Darklord custom rom, but switching roms is a time consuming task. One day...

Is it possible to ROM 935F with t-mobile ROM?

I am looking to buy one of the international models with the Samsung CPU, but plan on using the phone on T-mobile's network and would really like to use wi-fi calling. Is it possible to use a rooted t-mobile ROM on this phone?

The issue with that is, the international variant is Exynos (which is better, may I add ) and I think the T-Mobile (USA) variant is Snapdragon.
Because of the architecture you probably can't use just use a T-Mobile stock ROM but there might be some sort of tweaking you can do to get it working. I am from the UK and my carrier is EE which supports WiFi calling, so you might be able to start with something like that.
If you root the phone, you can flash the tmobile csc from the universal csc file (get the note 7 csc if you use a n7 port). With it, I have WiFi calling, volte including video call.

CAN u provide link to the flashing of csc. Funny thing is that someone posted a sm935f on ebay and they mentioned that they messed up the csc flash. Is there a way to fix a messed up csc flash?

S8 Custom ROMs and AT&T WiFi Calling

Are there any custom ROMs (and CSC files) that allow the S8 to successfully have WiFi Calling and VoLTE on the AT&T network??
I am running RENOVATE ICE 3.0 but you need the Notorious Kernel 1.9 for Volte to work on T. Some kernels do not support Volte, but Notorious does. You also need to flash ATT from the Flashable CSC Selection V1.0.0, and create/edit the /efs/imei/mps_code.dat and put ATT in there. You can also delete the /system/omc/ATT/res directory to get rid of the annoying T jingle and boot screen. You then need to call ATT and ask the friendly customer service person to update your IMEI. But when you give them your current IMEI, they will not be able to find it since it is not a ATT phone. So they will use the IMEI of a similar phone. That will get Volte to work. But WiFi will not as I think the IMEI must match exactly in their system for WiFi to work.
Hello. I'm also trying to figure out the same. How can I unlock the G955U? is that even possible?
Ideally I'd like to get the CSC Patch installed so I can get WiFi Calling on ATT, as I do not have any reception in my area. Any Help here would be appreciated.
Can anyone help here? Thanks.

You can flash csc seletcion after the rom.
That package contains the csc of att and the US generic. That generic is the one that I use and it works volte, wifi calling in tmobile ...
Hi Eddie, would you happen to know how to Root the G955U? its the Unlocked version of the phone. I've followed every step for CF-Auto-Root through Odin, but it fails every time. It seems like the Bootloader is locked? Any help would be appreciated here.

If you mean network unlock, then follow the ToS on AT&T mobile and eventually you will be allowed to unlock your phone. And for you to switch from the firmware of SM-G955U to SM-G955U1, you gotta go to this forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/rd-carrier-switch-root-snapdragon-t3597473
You will not get wifi calling unless u can provide to att an imei from a device that has wifi calling. Only feature u will get working is volte. It's different them tmobile.

Thank you for the answer
I am familiar with the need for an IMEI from a branded device ..... But I'm not even completely sure that's working for the S8+ like it did for my S7
I just haven't gotten anyone to 100% confirm WiFi calling on AT&T even with proper IMEI

Well i don't know from experience with at&t firmware but at&t should have wifi calling by default. If not and if wifi calling is an important feature towards you, then the last resort answer you have is to flash unlock firmware onto your device since that's the firmware everyone can use while it supports wifi calling and VoLTE (Voice Over LTE)

Once again, per other threads and myself, simply flashing the att firmware will only give you VOLte. You can toggle the wifi calling but it will say your account doesn't have this feature after about 5 seconds. If u call them and give them an imei number that is to a device that is an att device with the feature it will work. This is different then tmobile which will allow u both without doing anything except flashing their firmware.

Hello all ..... ( and @Tkkg1994 )
I'm still trying to get a definitive answer --- Has anyone personally been able to get an unbranded S8 or S8+ to activate WiFi Calling on the AT&T network (not TMo or others) ??
I'm trying to facilitate an issue with using S8 Ports on my unbranded S7 Edge where we can get VoLTE to work nicely but WiFi Calling will not activate (on the S8 port based ROMs).
I am aware (and have been for quite a while) that you must have an AT&T branded IMEI to get this to work on AT&T. I am also aware that this step is not needed on TMobile or really any other network.
I have tried the branded S7 IMEI that works great on my S7 to activate WiFi Calling while using many (most) S7 based ROMs. I have even tried branded IMEI's from ATT branded S8's and S8+'s .... but I can't get WiFi calling to activate while on any of the S8 port based ROMS (I get VoLTE nicely with many ROMS esp the latest BatMan S8 port ROM)
So to troubleshoot I am trying to confirm that even with the S8 or S8+ that WIFi Calling is or is not a possibilty ??
Thanks

I am no developer, but I believe there are two possible causes in the case of T WiFi failure on Exynos:
Perhaps T requires the IMEI to exactly match as a security measure, and since they cannot use an International model IMEI it will never work.
Or there is something specifically compiled for the Snapdragon process and so when it is extract it will not run on the Exynos.
Either way, it won't work. I posted a LOGCAT when enabling it failed, but it is beyond my capability to debug and no one seemed to be able to figure it out.

VoLTE on U Firmware not working ?

Hi everyone,
I installed following U firmware on my G935P with T mobile CP from latest G935T firmware. Everything works great (including WiFi calling) but VoLTE is not working. There is option in settings > networks to enable HD voice calling but enabling it doesn't help. I dont have any option for VoLTE prefereed in Phone Menu. I even tried enabling with QuickShortcutMaker to enable VoLTE. but doesn't do anything, I cant see HD logo while making calls or VoLTE symbol.

You have to flash the T-mobile csc to get volte working I believe.
Is that confirmed? I didn't realize we could mix and match CSCs.

No you cannot use the Tmobile CsC, if you want your phone to boot. You can use the Tmobile radio aka the CP file

Sorry, But you can not flash another ROM CSC as it contains firmware details. Odin will flash without error, but your phone will not boot. and you will see the broken android error in recovery.

As @justda mentioned, No you can not mix and match CSS with different ROM. Only CP files are interchangeable between Snapdragon Models. You should use CP file from your carrier latest firmware to get better signal and more band support.

Flashing latest U firmware with T mobile CP fixed issue for me. I can confirm VoLTE for t mobile works on U firmware out-of-box with or without T mobile CP(radio). @walrusmonarch thanks until now my phone was on U firmware with July security patch. Not sure why it was not working, it's a used phone and the previous owner also made some rom related changes .
Btw, As per my knowledge, both firmware contains the same MULTI-CSC
(i.e. "CSC_OYM_G935UOYM4BQH3_CL12006533_QB14665430_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT"). As per sim card inserted during first boot the phone will reset CSC code to match carrier. In my case, it will automatically switch to TMB, even if I use U firm with XAA default code as it contains the same AP, CP, BL and multi-csc file. correct me if I am wrong.
