There are multiple ways to have a transparent navigation bar, especially if you have root. Most if not all custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod and Cloudyfa's ROMs come with this option in their settings pre enabled. I know CyanogenMod and Paranoid Android each have a feature called Immersive/Desktop Mode which auto hides the nav bar until you swipe up. What ROM are you currently using?

I'm using stock rom and I didn't want to use a different rom as there are some settinhs and stuff I wont be able to restore. I was looking to get this option without messing with the system.

[Q]Status Bar mods?

Are there any mods that allow you to tweak the status bar, add/remove items, hide the bar, etc.?
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
If you are rooted "HoneyBar" will hide the notification bar. Also look on github there's a free one there but you also need root for this.

Well, if you talk about the upper bar, installing Launcher ex or pro will remove that.
If you refer to the lower bar, you can get I believe Honeybar from the market. It's a paid app. Also, somewhere in the xda forums, there is a lik=nk to a free app that does the same thing.
You can make it appear when you want.
Note, that if you use a launcher app, and the bar remover, the screen may "shift". I think it depends on which you installed first. As I have encountered this a couple times after flashing roms, and installing apps.
I think the correct sequence, is to install the bar remover first, then the launcher app.
Thanks peeps! That's exactly what I need.

[Q] Modify the Navigation Bar?

Flat out, is there any way to modify the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the screen on the Razr M?
I really just want to change the order of the buttons, having the capacitive buttons is cool and all, but the Home button being directly in the middle and BELOW the space bar in most typing applications has led to some frustration as far as I'm concerned.
I know custom ROMs will have different implementations of this, but I'm not interested in that at the moment.
Rooted Stock Jelly Bean.
Any info is helpful thanks!
CM10 does it just fine.
settings -> system -> navigation bar

yea, the stock just doesn't have options for it. maybe when CM10 hits beta, but I'd rather not go without functionality at the moment.
You can use securelock app to hide system bar with the combination of button savior app to do the customization. It works for me

Finally to make it work you have to use 5 apps
Full!screen: to hide navigations (top and bottom) but you loose notifications (gmail, google talk, sms...), incoming calls and alarm.
Custom alarm app:
Full hd id: for incoming calls
Button saver: for system navigation
Pop notification: for gmail...notifications.
I don't know if it worth it

Its alot easier then that, I use HideBar and LML (gensture control) it hisdes the system bar then i use gestures to control home back search and recent apps. not that bad.

Tried hidebar, same behavior as full!screen: loosing all notifications...that's why you need the others apps

How Do I Hide the Software Keys?

I want to use PIE control instead. Is there some kind of build.prop mod or something that hides the nav bar?
Might be worth going for a custom ROM that has PIE. All you then have to do is switch to Expanded Desktop and there you have it!?
You'll find many ROMs that do PIE. There is also a launcher that does that, it's called LMT Launcher. You will find it here on XDA.

I don't want to flash a whole new ROM. I just want the PIE control and nav bar removal. PIE control has a Play Store app so I don't need to flash that but I know there has to be some kind of simple mod to remove the nav bar.
Ah, ok, didn't realize there was an app for it.
How about this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780970

It seems to force tablet UI, but the nav bar still remains. I know there was a way to make the nav bar appear for the Note 2 so there has to be a way to hide the nav bar for the Nexus 7.
download LMT launcher, it's been around longer than PIE has and doesn't require any specific rom...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
you can go into google playstore and search for PieControl Pro. There is a free version and a pro version for $1.99

So can this hide the nav bar?
Flash ParanoidAndroid ROM it has built in PIE navigation in Quick Settings so when you tap on it your navigation bar hides and PIE control activates and if you are worried about Tablet UI you can turn it off any time you want. =)

are you on the stock rom? not sure if LMT can hide the navigation menu. you may as well just flash any other rom since almost every other rom lets you hide the navigation menu anyways. LMT is also way more customizable than PIE.
At the end of build prop add
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Save and exit, I don't believe it works on stock rom though but I could be wrong.
I use this on roms that don't have it built in navbar hide built in, and I use lmt launcher, because I prefer it to pie.

Hide navigation bar?

Is there a launcher that can hide the navigation bar on the home screen?
S' mobitela
No. Why do you only want to hide it while on the home screen?
Edit: If you just want to hide it period, you can use this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1243352&d=1344188251

You need a custom rom like PA in order to do that.
Or use lmt so which is pie, so you can now hide the navigation bar buttons in expanded mode.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You can also use gmd gesture control if you want to stay on stock but quickly hide/unhide navbar using gesture, even on custom roms its faster than having to hold power button and clicking expanded desktop

This is a great way to permanantly hide navbar but keep notification bar on stock but there is 2 problems i encountered with this method, 1st prob was the 3 dots would dissapear from chrome etc and on 4.2.2 i encoutered a flicker problem quite often but it sounds like the OP wanted to just hide the bar on home screen which im not sure why lol but if thats what he wants his best bet would be gmd gesture control or custom rom with expanded desktop mode
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Agreed gmd gesture looks pretty cool.

All other app hide navigation bar and notification bar. I'm developing new root app that will allow to hide just navigation bar and replace it with auto hide status bar replacement :fingers-crossed:. No system files modification and no reboot required, but root is still needed.
Try it here and let me know what you think.

[Q] Navigation Bar and Lockscreen

I want to hide Navigation Bar and status bar not to make them transparent, i have tried widgetlocker but it just hides nav bar buttons and not the bar.
Tried PA3.01 expand mode but its kinda buggy or not working well when i choose to go to home screen it opens it twice and doing some lag too. flashed different roms but no rom had a feature to disable nav bar only on lockscreen, aokp had this feature but it was buggy as well so they removed it instead of fixing.
Need help, thanks.
I'm running PA3.1 and its running just fine, no problems at all. Give it another go! And to hide the nav bar, just set the size to 0% in Hybrid Settings.

thank you!
Gravity box for xposed framework has a section to tweak the navbar. It also has an expanded desktop feature which can hide the status bar/navbar and use pie control.
