1. Get the OTA file if you can and upload it.
2. Please, don't create a separate thread for this, post it here:

you need to be rooted though.

you need to root the device in order to access the system cache folder, then you can use ES file explorer to access that folder and copy the ota file to the internal sd card.
I just received that prepare message from moto, hope i will get lollipop soon too EUretail btw
Please can you capture the OTA? Thanks!

OK, „received” but what model: XT1032, XT1033?
For the lucky man who received ota and want to help other people to get it:
1. Go to settings - developers settings - usb debugging (turn it on)
2. Download adb from internet and connect your phone to PC.
3. Enter commands in command window:
adb logcat
If everything is right you'll see a lot of lines
If you see it then disconnect your phone. And connect it again. Enter:
Adb logcat > link.txt
Now you can press the button on your phone for downloading ota
Once you've pressed you can disconnect your phone from PC and share link.txt file from adb folder

I'm currently compiling all the various updates for 2.3.4, According to Google, you should get an update to bring you right up to 2.3.4, if you can give me the baseband model, i'll add it to the OTA's that are still missing for 2.3.4

I've added it. BTW, if you don't mind wiping the phone, you can do a stock 2.3.3 image, then upgrade to the .4, links can be found in my first post.
No need to wipe. Just manually apply the 2.3.3 update. Then do the 2.3.4 update manually too.

No problems although you could find your answers on the forum if you searched. But for simplicity...
Here's my instructions for moving from 2.3.2 GRH78C to 2.3.4 GRJ22. (amalgamated from various sources...) Let me know how you go with them.
Charge phone to 80% or more!
1. As you are running 2.3.2 GRH78C first download this to your computer:
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespo/98f3836cef9e.signed-soju-GRI40-from-GRH78C.98f3836c.zip
2. Plug in your Nexus S to your PC (or mac), switch on USB Storage and copy the file from wherever you saved it to the root of the removable disk (your nexus S)
3. rename the file "update.zip"
4. Disconnect your NS, and shut it down.
5. Holding down the volume up button, press the power button. You should boot into the "bootloader" (big android logo and some options)
6. Use the volume keys to highlight the "recovery" option, then press the power button (it works like a select button here)
7. Your screen will show "google" then a open box and a little android man, then this will turn to an exclamation mark inside a triangle.
8. Press the power and up buttons again, then select "apply update from /sdcard" as before using the up and down keys and the power button
9. select "update.zip" and press the power key - the phone should then update to 2.3.3
10. Once it is completed (check the status bar) select "reboot system now"
11. Complete!
Once your phone reboots you will have 2.3.3. Repeat the same process as above but with this file instead to go to 2.3.4: http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespo/a14a2dd09749.signed-soju-GRJ22-from-GRI40.a14a2dd0.zip
Remember to remove the 2.3.3 "update.zip" from your Nexus S before copying over the 2.3.4 update.zip
Many thanks for the kind reply with details. On number 2 you say to the root. Isn't it just copy and paste ?

Yeah, copy and paste to the "root directory" of the Nexus S internal Flash Storage. (When I say "root" in the instructions I don't mean "root" as in rooting your android phone to enable super user, I mean the "top level directory" of the Nexus S storage)
Hope that's clearer

Haha Ok I'll break it down just to make it clearer (as I didn't quite understand what your last post meant - sorry!)
1. Download the file
2. Copy the file you just downloaded from your pc (copy the file you see on your pc screen that you just downloaded)
3. Paste it onto your Nexus S (in other words, don't put it in any folders!)
4. Follow the rest of the instructions
If this still doesn't make sense I'll try again!
When I tried to apply update, it failed with following message.
Assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/framework/framework-res.apk". (status 7)
I think the reason is that I have used percentage battery framework. Does anyone know where I could get the 2.3.2 stock framework-res.apk ?
Many thanks,

Please search the forums, this question has been answered many times already (by me and many others).. but as I am nice... follow the instructions posted higher up. As you are on GRH78 you need to use this file to go from 2.3.1 to 2.3.3 instead of the first one posted in my instructions
(2.3.1 GRH78 to 2.3.3 GRI40) http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespo/e0b546c442bf.signed-soju-GRI40-from-GRH78.e0b546c4.zip
then use the later file from my instructions to go from 2.3.3 GRI40 to 2.3.4 GRJ22
Any problems message back...
Many thanks for the kind reply and details. I will update on this as soon as I try it out. I forgot my USB cord at my shop so I can not do this tonight. I have two laptops and tried to do it at my shop today using my Apple MBP but that was useless since I was unable to rename the file on my Apple so I will bring back home the USB cable tomorrow and try again tomorrow.
Freakin Apple won't allow us to rename them files
2.3.3 worked perfectly and the screen turned yellowish as everyone reported. I applied the zip 2.3.4 file and it also worked perfectly. Many thanks for the kind reply and help with details. So far the only thing I find wrong is that the colors are a bit different from what they were. I think I liked them more before.

installed it, it works perfectly.
Thanks @MelquiXDA!!!
I downloaded it today and installed on my XT1069.
I was with 4.4.4 stock, my cel is the Retail version BR.
I have a problem when the apps was "compiled" after the installation. Shows up a popup with "Android is upgrading... Optimising app 1 of 100", and start to "optimize" the applications.. but with 30 +/-, the screen turns black (iluminated). So after a time i turn off the cell, it reboots and start again, but with "1 of 70"... and then after 25 +/- it turns black again.... Turn off and turn on, went to "1 of 45"... and two more times, until finish all.
After that, boot okay, my applications all there, but after installing i decided to "make a clean install". Made a factory reset and start from scratch.
Thanks a lot brother! :good:
I was impatient with the laziness of Google announcing something on october, and we are almost in Febuary, and nothing? Why announce something that they even didn't finish? Why not announce it on January and be like "We announce Lollipop 5.0, and Nexus will receive it TODAY"?
Just a dream :crying:

Can i do this even if i already installed the first 5.0 TWRP backup released for the XT1069?
What i mean is, can i install this using that simple method even if i´m already on Lollipop 5.0?
Or do i have to downgrade to 4.4.4 first?
My bootloader is also unlocked, but i´m with stock recovery.
No. Only 4.4.4 to 5.0.2
Considering NVidia decided to make their naming scheme wonky as all hell after 3.0, I'd like to set up a post that will help users capture the download links when a new OTA is released. This will help all users get a direct link to NVidia for their devices' OTA as well as help me with my OTA library.
Capturing the Download Link
You must have ADB installed to do this
1) Open the "system update" application on your tablet but do not tap "download"
2) Open up a command prompt on your computer and type "adb logcat" but do not hit enter
3) Plug your tablet into your computer. Once your tablet is fully connected and recognized, proceed to step 4
4) Hit enter on the command prompt. As soon as you do that, tap "download" on your device
5) After a few seconds, unplug your tablet
6) Search the command prompt for the download link or upload a text file with the text from the command prompt
You will need to do this twice. Once for the incremental OTA and once for the full OTA. Between downloads, you will have to "clear update data" to clear the first OTA you downloaded. Both "Clear update data" and "Check full update" can be found in the options menu on the system update application.
Please, if you see that the links for your device were already captured, do not make a second post about it.
I really do need the help of the community here as I do not own all 3 versions of the tablet. I appreciate the help as this will allow me to keep the library of OTAs updated.
??
I finally get to revive this thread!
I've been able to acquire the RoW and WiFi OTAs for 4.0, can anyone help with getting the NA LTE link?

You might consider following the thread All Things K1 [sb_na_wf] as the ROMs for that device have mirrors in that thread as well as some K1 specific caveats in dealing with TWRP and other custom recoveries.

My first ROM upload ... hope everything's all right!
I generated this and was asked me to upload it.
I created it via Xperifirm / Flashtool->FTF / PRFCreator->ZIP
I cleared cache and Dalvic and flashed it over my existing ROM (23.4.A.1.232)
Kept root and recovery, didn't lose and apps or data, all seems OK so far.
Stagefright detector gives all green, was one red before.
--- I had to download and run the "SDFix" app from the playstore
--- This makes the SDcard writeable by all Apps, I didn't need to do this when I originally
--- rooted the phone, but I needed it after this update.
--- Otherwise apps like TitaniumBackup and photo editors fail to work.

When asking for link ( the dialog with the Copy Link button) you have a pull down menu in the left side, use the third option.
Well, I found one problem this morining - Titanium backup failed overnight with an "Insufficient storage space" error.
Looking at the the "Backup location" in TB, it said "This folder is not writable"
After some googling I discovered I needed to re-enable write access for TB....
In Titanium backup ...
/Menu/preferences/Backup folder location
click on "Storage provider"
choose "DocumentProvider storage"
Select the external SD card and enable access to it.
It worked fine after that.
--- alternatively, download and run the "SDFix" app from the playstore
--- This makes the SDcard writeable by all Apps and fixes some other probs I found.
Beat me to it, Nice release though.
Hello, you have the icon or 4G LTE?

I have downloaded and have a rooted phone now. Do I make an ftf with these files? Do I need to unzip duel recovery and supersu?
Copy the zip file onto your phone, boot into recovery and install the zip from there.

Although some said that they have issues with 3G in my uploaded DE too, do try to wipe cache/dalvik, but no factory reset is necessary though.
There is a service "R2Rclient" or something that connects to the internet, and it might get block if you have a firewall on the device, like AFWall+, disable it.
Try to manually select: provider, APNs
Try to set all to Auto: provider, APNs
Try to find your providers settings on their website and create an APN like that.
Is this rom only available through ftf as I'm awaiting the update ota
