I have entered my unlock code from AT&T and it worked fine. I did find out the hard way that if you intend to use an unlock code supplied from AT&T you must use an AT&T firmware. If you use the Euro firmware on the AT&T to gain phone capabilities the AT&T supplies unlock code won't work. - yes, I know there are several ways to manually unlock your phone using Roto's method and others - this was just something I found interesting.
The question now is , if you use an AT&T unlock code and you then upgrade your firmware to the Euro firmware, will you loose the AT&T unlock?
is the Unlock lost during a .pit function.
just trying to learn more about how this works -
thanks
Anyone have any idea on this?
Just checking bac to see if anyone knows whether this will effect the AT&T Unlock - loading Euro firmware
Can You assist me on getting the code to unlock an AT&T tab?
I don't believe flashing a new rom should affect your subsidy lock status as long as it doesn't overwrite the efs partition. You should definitely do a rotobackup prior to flashing though, just in case.
Hey Guys,
I have had one heluva time trying to unlock my Rogers Galaxy s4. I purchased an unlock code, which did not work. I tried through service mode. Then I tried flashing the rom to a factory rom, which has now disabled my cellphone reception. At this point I am trying to put the stock rom back just get my phone working. Is there anything else I can do?
FastGSM.com has been the "last resort / saviour" for many here when service menu didnt unlock nor purchased-code.
fastgsm
I also used fastgsm to unlock mu i337m using the usb unlock method
Never try it but it could maybe help you out ;

Hey guys I'm looking for advice with my new Telus locked phone. I've tried the unlock menu method South the latest and even downgraded firmware. Every time it is still locked when I boot up.
Had the same issue with my s2 previously and resolved it by flashing a us carriers older stock firmware and modem then unlocking it then restoring back the Canadian one.
what I've read the bootloader complicated things with this phone. Can I change to old att modems and firmware? It seems only Odin ones exist and I don't want to do something stupid. I don't want to spend 45 on a code as I understand it won't work after trying the menu method. Any ideas or do I have to pay for the gsmusb method.
I ended up just doing the fast gsm usb unlock for $15.
I'm trying to try some methods to unlock my AT&T S4. I'm still on MDL firmware, it is rooted but I never unlocked it and now I really want to because I just came back from an overseas trip and didn't have use of my phone. However, all the methods require I be able to dial or enter into some kind of service mode like *#9090# or *#0011#. However after I hit the last # nothing happens, I hit the Call button and I see a USSD Code Runnning then 'Connection problem or invalid MMI'. I can't get anywhere without being able to enter into any of the service menus. Can anyone tell me why or how I can fix this?
Also, I wouldn't be opposed to updating to the latest firmware through AT&T (I disabled the OTA update pushing thing long ago) and then rooting and unlocking with the latest methods. Is this possible right now? But I still need to get the dialing code issue fixed I believe. I would still need to be able to crack through the AT&T wifi tethering feature in the phone which I have right now on MDL, its very important to me. If it can't be done on the latest firmware then I'll just have to wait another 6 months for my contract is up then AT&T will give me the sim unlock code.
Please Help!
Oh, and I just remembered AT&T actually provided me with a sim network unlock code which I didn't try to enter until I was overseas, about a year had passed already. The code didn't work and I actually found that it was just my IMEI#. I'm assuming that was never going to work anyways and whoever gave me that was just messing with me?
You can try flashing the MF3 modem through recovery and then running regionlockaway app. If that doesn't work, you can flash the stock MDL firmware using Odin. The firmware can be downloaded from sammobile site.
Doesn't your phone ask for a unlock code when you insert a different SIM card?

If I do this then will I lose root? If so will I be able to recover it?

Flash the modem won't lose root. If you use Odin you will have root afterwards

i all to everyone don't know if this is correct in putting this post here . I have a Samsung galaxy s4 i9505 locked to ee tried a ×#0011#. And tried the long number to enter service mode. I can change it to 1. But I don't get the other menu to pop up. I've had an idea. I have tried looking for this method and I'm 50/50 weather it will work or not. As this as phone has got ee branded phone. If I installed a custom firmware btu version black edition . What the chances of unlocking it via the method above or would this phone still know in it a ee phone what are your thoughts regards James. I don't want to root the phone. I'm quite happy to put a btu black edition on the phone . I have used odin in the past on my old i9505 but that phone was already unlocked
Changing firmware will not unlock the phone. To get the proper menu to appear you have to downgrade the modem (or firmware) to Android 4.2.2, then use the service menu. If the service menu does not work, your only other alternative is to root while the modem is downgraded and run RegionLock Away.

Many thanks for your reply. So if I down grade my firmware to 4.2.2 btu so I can enter the service menu . Are you saying this mite work 50/50
I did the downgrade myself when I lost my SIM unlock. The service menu worked but I messed up somewhere and failed to unlock. RegionLock Away worked perfectly.

Dont know if this will help you but after *#0011# press back then key input and type Q0 instead of 1. wait a few seconds and should take you to the menu.
