Is mine just a bad upgrade to Lollipop or is everyone else missing the 'downtime' options from
Settings>Sounds and Notifications>Interruptions?
Downtime options should be there at the bottom but i don't have them....without it there doesn't appear to be any other way of setting downtime options to stop notifications etc at night. (Yes i know i an download other apps to do this but that's not the point)
Tried wipe/reset but still not there.

Not a bad upgrade m8, this is not implemented in Samsung's current lollipop release [emoji4] you can enable priority notifications to stop sounds at night though.
OK thanks....thought it was just me
hopefully Samsung will add it to an update soon....

[Q&A] Silent mode missing after 5.0 lollipop update on Galaxy S5? Now priority mode.
Edit: solution below (4th post). But be cerful for disabling your alarms.
<rant>
I have a Galaxy S5 SM-G900F. As a power user i need to factory reset my phone every half year to keep it running smooth. Since it was time for that anyway, i combined a fresh start with flashing the official polish 5.0 lollipop S5 rom (the updated one
PDA: G900FXXU1BNL7 ). It looks and works great. Ok, more blacks would work better with the amoled screen and it can easily take 2-3 seconds to open the task switcher, which is extra annoying if you have to also use it to jump to another browser tab. But i didn't find any major bugs and i generally love it. But one thing is driving me so crazy I'm considering going back to 4.x and staying there.
WHERE IS THE FRACKIN SILENT MODE?????
Sorry for the caps but that's kind of how i feel. Apparently it's not a bug but a feature. In vanilla, stock android on the nexus and moto g, you have to assign priority people or apps that can disturb you in priority mode. And then there's the "none" mode where your phone is completely silent. But those modes are not there in touchwiz. And people can't get their phones silent on other hardware too. Apparently Google will do a reintroduction of the feature in 5.1. But i don't know what that's worth. It will take ages for Samsung to incorporate and I'm starting to distrust google. With Google maps I'm still missing some features they cut out, such as measuring the direct distance between two points in the app. And they brought back writing to microsd cards with a special api, but i still can't edit word documents in any of the seven office apps I've tried (including several purchased ones).
</rant>
Anyway, I've tried everything i could think of to find silent mode:
* tap the vibrate/sound button in the quick toggles, it only switches between sound and vibrate, silent is gone
* long press power button: sound settings are removed from this menu
* go to settings - sounds and notifications: again there's only sound and vibrate mode. Silent mode is missing.
Please help me. The only workaround i found is to manually set all vibrates to really soft. But where is the silent mode? This is a feature that has been present in phones since before the wheel was invented. Did they really forget it? Or leave it out in purpose?

Thank you for replying but where can i find this priority mode?
remove me again sorry
Solution
Ok, found it. You mute your phone with priority mode, but that's rather hidden...
WARNING: your alarms will not go off of you set priority mode to none.
open the all toggles: swipe down from the top of your screen with two fingers (or swipe down once and tap the icon in the upper right with three squares and two arrows)
here you see a toggle called all. Set it to none for silent mode
tap the pen icon to edit the layout, long press the all/none toggle and drag it up to put it in your directly accessible toggles
you can go to the settings for priority mode by long pressing the toggle. You can also find it under sound¬ifications - interruptions (not called priority mode!!!)

This is not something implemented by Sammy, this is a Lollipop Google feature and sucks.
I had a widget for doing this and the App developer says that there is Nothing he can do
why they did this God Knows
what the heck is wrong with android developers nowadays? I hated this option.
At least silent mode will be back in 5.1
I am on EE and when I upgraded to Lollipop I lost this silient mode like everyone else did. My mate on Virgin also lost it but about a week later he received an update and he gained back this functionality.
There's now an XPOSED module for enabling native silent mode in lollipop
Sent from my SM-G900F
Silent mode is back in BOB7
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
I'm very confused by this "priority mode" thing. I would really like it simple....I can put my phone on silent at night and have my alarm go off, and still receive ALL notifications while I'm sleeping, but they're silent. Then during the day while I'm at work, leave it on silent, but receive all notifications. I really really don't like that no matter what, silent mode mutes all notifications and alarms. It seems like I have to have it on vibrate in order to have the alarm work. I've googled this so many times and read so many articles, but it still doesn't make sense. Also I couldn't care less what order the notifications are.
who install and active XPOSED module in Rom 5 ?please help me....
Hello all,
On my S8 I have enabled Do not disturb to come on as scheduled. This is set to start at 23:30. However every night it comes on at 22:30. I have tried changing the start time but it is always coming on at 22:30.
It turns off at the correct time.
Has anyone any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks !
I'm having a similar issue. It doesn't turn off when it should
I'm having the same issue too. Mine comes on at seemingly random times at night. I tried to correct it by setting a schedule that works better for me but it comes completely ignores the schedule and does its own thing...
I'm having the same thing with my S7 edge and suspect it could be something to do with stock Android settings from my previous phone (Moto X Play) that have synced / been restored when I transferred my Google account to my S7 edge.
My do not disturb settings on the Moto X Play (Stock android) were to activate at 10pm Sunday - Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday. As Samsung's version of android doesn't allow different settings for different days of the week I have do not disturb set to activate at 10.30pm every day. I have found that my S7 edge is still following the rules I had for my Moto X Play and activating at 10pm on Sun-Thurs and 11pm Friday and Saturday. This also applies to the deactivate settings which are set to different times Sun-Thurs and Friday and Saturday.
Is there a way to access the stock android do not disturb settings on Samsung?
Fixed it
Fixed it,
What I had to do was get Nova Launcher.
Press and hold desktop select to add widget.
Add the Nova Launcher widget - Activities
In the menu that pops up scroll to settings.
In the sub-window scroll to: Automatic rules. The one which is .Settings$ZenModeAutomationSettingsActivitiy
Tap it. This will add a shortcut to the automatic rules.
Click this and you have access to different rules. twschedule is the one set by the Samsung settings.
I had a weeknight one which was affecting me.
This could also be used to set custom ones for different days I think.
Something weird is happening with the time calculations. I used to have my Gear2 Neo track my sleep to Samsung Health, but Samsung Health always reported that I went to sleep and got up 1 hour later than I actually did.

Excellent! Thanks very much I would never have found this myself. I've changed the settings and fingers crossed it will actually do what I want it to tonight!
Galaxy S8+ running QG4 (verizon). I use Do Not Disturb from 10pm to 7am daily, and the DND icons used to show on the status bar, and on the AOD, now however, they don't show at all. I recently took the update to QG4, but I don't remember if this started prior to the update. Am I missing a setting? Does it work for anyone on this version?
Thanks

Same issue here on S8 with build AQH3. Another report on AQG5 on AndroidCentral:

Do you have Gear VR packages installed as well?
Same here on my unlocked international S8.
WTF Samsung. ?

Have you tried calling Samsung support?
If others have the same problem, then it's not me...
Maybe it's some setting we are using causing the issue.
I'm calls Samsung support tomorrow if i don't find a way to fix it.
Fixed with a factory reset.

Confirmed, this works
Cheeky icon.
Fix courtesy Igsucks https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...urb-status-bar-icon-missing/m-p/212576#M24990
settings > notifications > advanced > show apps with blocked notifications (ensure System apps are shown)
If you see SYSTEM UI is blocked then click the top right menu dots and click reset app preferences.
This resets ALL app preferences and permissions so you will have to grant a lot of apps location rights, and so on.
Hi,
Anyone experienced a problem with push notifications on Oreo? I've updated and now some apps are not giving me notifications.
Hangouts and Wordfued are the two I have experienced so far.
If you open the apps up and then go back to the home screen the notifications work. If you close them fro the app switcher screen they stop providing notifications.
Thanks
Andrew

Yes got tge same thing. Ebay, gumtree etc.
I'm dealing with this as well with Tumblr. :/
..and BBM.
More severe problem with whatsapp while the screen is off...
I found a way to get my tumblr notifications to work even after I've closed the app to stop it running in the background. It's not ideal, but until they release an official fix... Meh. Hopefully this works for you guys, too?
Settings
Apps & Notifications
Apps
Settings (The cog icon at the bottom)
Special Access
Ignore Battery Optimisation
Find your app and switch to Allow
And... done!
Again, I hope this works for you too.
It's strange because I still get twitter notifications despite not having to go through this for that app. Hmmn.
Does anyone know how to change the default notification sound for Twitter? It used to be in the settings under push notifications- it would let you select the tone, now it isn't there. I can't find the option in phone settings either- I have 8.0.0.369 (C432).

There is a number of guides online, none of which I've got to work. I think the bottom line is, you can't any more.

Over time all the apps that were not working have started working fine. Not sure if that is down to it knowing which apps to keep open or software updates or something else.
Apologies I can't help more.
I have a ZB602KL which is now rooted with TWRP and Magisk. It is on Android 8.1 and I keep getting notification about FOTA updates - sometimes a really HUGE one. I am not really interested in the update and want to turn this all off. I did something similar long ago on my old Note phone but doubt that would work here. Any suggestions? Thanks
yeah.... even me getting always the notification of PIE update.. how to make it shut...as it can be mute for only 2hrs... and again it comes

Go to settings>apps>show system app>FOTAupdate. Force stop the app. Now the notification will not bug you till the next time you restart your phone.

i remembered in old version android once you make them force stop they wont run again till u start manually
Enable developer settings.
In developer settings, scroll down to the last. Somewhere towards the last, you'll find a setting called background check, enter this setting, scroll down to FOTA service and turn off its background check.
Go back in settings to apps and notifications. Select all apps and select show system apps from the three dot menu. Scroll down to FOTA settings and turn off background activity for the app (this is under battery settings).
