So now that the OTA Lolipop update is rolling out, do you think anyone can upload and port their camera APK and files so that we can FINALLY have a decent camera on custom roms? I would do an OTA update but I am on T-Mobile and not AT&T
Just porting the apk will probably result in a fc, you need the framework too.. Porting all of that and implementing it in AOSP variants could take a long time
The LG G3 camera is about the one thing that is keeping me from putting on a AOSP or CM12 rom. I am impatiently waiting for LG based rom, just debloated like CloudyG 2.1
Is the LG G3 camera that much better then CM12 or Moto camera? would love to see comparison pics.
Porting the Camera from LG stock based rom to a CM12 or AOSP rom is very difficult as LG wont release the sources so trying to do things from scratch is very difficult and the the camera function on CM12 and AOSP roms is very limited and will never compare with a stock based rom in terms of camera. Also just to point out if you check the android development section you will see many custom stock roms.
You could try the latest moto x camera.. Im using it on stock but i think it works on cm too
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app

I am wondering what others have to say about STOCK 5.0.2 vs. AOSP 5.1.x, because it pretty much looks like LG is making people play beta testers on an already outdated Lollipop version (considering certain problems people are reporting in the D802 5.0.2 thread).
I currently have 30a on my D802 with the intention to upgrade to 30e, but I'm also eying at AICP 9.x and BlissPop 3.x. Not sure which is the most stable Lollipop for the G2, and I don't have any use for most LG and Google apps anyway.
P.S. So far I really like LP, and I have no intentions to go back to KK.
Have you used 5.1 aosp before? Im noticing worse battery life compared to kitkat, still don't have lg's lollipop update.
Also doubt tap to wake doesn't work on aosp for now at least on ressurection rom it doesn't, no xcam driver for 4k recording and slowmo. Gotta try them both and see if you can live with the pros/cons of each.
Stock is better
And no qslide smartcover qremote quickmemo and other great things that made g2 better than nexus. I'm on android from donut times, and I never thought that I would prefer stock roms....

Edit: and no dorimanx...
Unlike other devices,LG 's stock firmware seems to be way better in battery and features, for me in kitkat. And most of the aosp roms seems more or less the same, also the battery is not good compared to stock. Now in stock 30d LP,the device seems to be smooth and fast, but the battery is not as good as it used to be in kitkat.Still ,for me it looks better than aosp roms.
Can anyone suggest ROM with the best battery and Camera performance.
I've found Cloudy G2 2.2 is the overall best for me yet? Also slimsaber is marvellous but camera is non stock so not good.
All other stock LP ROMs have very less battery.
Kitkat have best camera because supports RAW.
I used Cloudy G2 2.2 one year and everything fine. I think you should know that G2 camera is bad for whatever custom Roms or stock.
If u have d800 u can try balstagator stripped down lolipop stock ROM
Note :there is no best ROM but there is what ROM u love

i can take raw using freedcam on lollipop 5.02
The topoc name says everything. I installed Bliss Rom 6.0 and it's great, but I would like to have some better camera app with 4K and 120FPS is there any chance to make it happend?
Sadly, its something that LG's API can do, which for some reason cm13 does not support, if cm13 will not support it, blisspop will never get it (unless blisspop makes a completely new base, which is not cm, which will take a few months).

Hi, i installed CM13 but i dont prefer snap camera that is preinstalled on cm13... I prefer stock g2 camera. Is there a way to download or flash that?

HOW ABOUT THIS:

That's only port of stock camera. It doesn't take so good photos as camera in stock rom. The port is worse than snap camera in CM13.

if you want good qulaity stock camer then flash stock rom...
stock rom has frameworkd that aosp or cm doesnt .. thats why camera dont look as good as stock rom..
Use FreeDCam for best experience with non stock/stock based ROMs.
I think there are some works trying to port LG framework to AOSP roms and by that you can install LG apps on AOSP roms
This work is still in progress though so you have to wait a little
PS : you can find the thread in G2 Developer Discussion [Developers Only] section.
You can try this app, i dont know if it work well ( you tell me : p)

Is possible to port the LG Stock Camera app to custom roms? Like Moto Camera in Motorola phones, for example.
I couldn't get it working, maybe we need some modifications to the apk to avoid using the LG framework...
Thanks!
I'm wondering the same, as i can't find any good camera app for my G6 runnung AospExtended. Did you find anything since August?
