dual core s4+2gb ram or quad core+1gb ram

so confused...VOTE!

They finally released 2GB version! My prayers are heard!

2gb is a must required for smoother user experience like the international variants as the s4 uses more memory than exynos quad. apart from that not much of a difference on that part.
so its upto the users to decide, apart from the ram which soc is better? s4 or exynos quad

but are the specs of the quad core processor better than the dual core s4? or they are almost the same? I noticed the att dual core hox was doing pretty well(even better than the quad core hox) and I was impressed I should say!

both of them are on par on performance with one winning the others in few test, you will absolutely note no difference in performance.

What makes you say that S4 uses more memory? Both of them don't have dedicated graphics memory like the Tegra3 so they both need to use system ram. The rest is upto the OS, the SoC has nothing to do with it.

I'd pick the dual-core, 4g LTE (and DC-HSPA on 3g which the quad-core doesn't have), 2gb ram and it's not even close.
- Similar performance
- Super fast 4g speeds
- Much faster 3g speeds thanks to DC-HSPA
- 2gb ram means less app killing to make more room for other apps which leads to smoother - more fluid UI experience
I have no idea why people would want the quad-core exynos, other than the fact that it's been released.

S4/Krait : (+) newer architecture, not exactly A15, but comparable. Good battery life. If you use LTE, I think it has integrated LTE radios.
Quad-Exynos: (+) Powerful GPU, I would believe that Samsung can optimize their software much better for Exynos compared to S4. Decent battery life. I read that they modified the architecture with options like 128-bit internal bus which is not available in other A9's.
2GB RAM to probably offset the extra memory used by S4 as we saw in the case AT&T HOX multitasking issue.
Decision is yours.

Tegra 3 sucks compared to S4 but exynos is way better than Tegra 3. I would say exynos is the best currently. I'm not sure if there will be too much advantage to gain with 2gb ram. The one advantage the s4 will have over exynos is battery life.

How many of the people who are saying that s4 plus 2gb is not good actually have an option to buy it? Only guys in US who have option to go with either of the two will give you right answer.
Im going with exynos quadcore... Do i think s4 plus 2gb plus lte is better in terms of hardware? definitely yes. Then why am i getting exynos? I want 10bucks unlimited data which will be available only with the unbranded phone. And international phone will have better developer support.
Im positive that s4 version will be super fluid if you choose to go for it though. I think i have made my decision that ill will get international version for my own reasons.

Your only valid point is 4G, oh well.....I will have to make do with "only" 42mB/s on DC-HSPA....yes we will have it in Sweden on the Quad core.
2GB RAM is meaningless.

Definitely getting the S4 version as soon as it hits AT&T. I hope it has the Wolfson DAC... but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.

2GB RAM is a must today. If you do not want to seeks kernels with swap option next months you need this RAM.

2gb ram means faster more fluid multitasking due to Android not having to kill/reload so many apps when you run multiple things. Won't see crap like the launcher having to reload because you opened a few apps for a while. It leads to better user experience.
And how is Snapdragon S4 vs Exynos 4412 performance not similar? From benchmarks I've seen they're both extremely comparable: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5810/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-performance-preview
I don't live in Sweden, so our Exynos variant doesn't have DC-HSPA......yet another reason not to waste money on that variant.

They're both good combinations and offer interesting points for technical comparison. My bet is that real world use on both is very fluid. Both are better than Tegra 3 anyways.

Thread to thread in super Pi the S4 is just 18% faster, so it will shine a bit in a dual core scenario but will be crushed by the Exynos otherwise (4 threads).
Then the GPU of the Exynos is a lot better (S4 GPU is in the range of the SGS2) and battery drain seem comparable between the 2.

Given an option I will go for S4 (Krait) + 2GB but sadly my part of the geographical location I will get only the Quad core one

Wish they went with adreno 320 and s4 quad like thar stupid looking leaked lg phone.

If you have LTE in your area get the 2.gb if not get the quad. Hspa + isn't exactly slow, just not comparable to LTE

I think the decision would make it way more easy for me if there was at least a launch date in US and for AT&T specifically. But it could be fall yet before it actually makes it debut here and also depends on which carrier launches first etc.. etc...
I have the International ordered and still may cancel it if this low stock fiasco doesn't end soon... and wait to see how the US launches unfold. I'm also interested to see real life comparisons of performance between these 2 variants..

Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon keeps its design intact

Verizon is one of the five carriers to start offering the Samsung Galaxy S III this month and leaked pictures show that the device will virtually be an untouched version of its international GSM sibling.Android Central got their hands on some photos of the Galaxy S III for the Big Red, which, excluding the 4G Verizon logo on the back, is the same as the GSM model of the device. The only difference is it runs on a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset with 2GB of RAM.
Samsung have decided not to alter the Galaxy S III as much as they did with the Galaxy S II lineup last year and launch the device with the same outfit as everywhere else. This seems to be the case with the US-bound T-Mobile version and the one sold by AT&T, as well.
Speaking of launch, it's yet unclear when Verizon is going to put the Galaxy S III on the shelves, but it will surely be sometime this month.

2GB of RAM is nice, but I'd rather have a quad-core Exynos since I'm a gamer and that's a big selling point of the Galaxy line.

As the release of the Samsung Galaxy SIII looms, I am wondering what events will take place. Do you think big red will officially roll out the the new data plans before launch? I doubt it.
When the S3 is released this month presumably before the new data plans roll out, will I be able to keep my grandfathered unlimited plan?

hey guys not sure if i should get this phone... im sad it will not have the overclocked Mali400 400mhz GPU.... but i know the S4 CPU with the andreno 225 is a beast, i held off the GN on big red cause of the old powervr540 GPU WTF but i know ICS is much better of using the GPU instead of 3.2 and below mostly using the CPU for graphics processing... im a big gamer , thats why i use the iphone4s i love the powervr543mp2 its badass... so... what should i get? i kinda wanna wait for the LG eclipse i hear it comes with the adreno 320, that alone makes me giddy or does any one know of any phones coming out with the exynos 5250? i hear that Mali-t604 GPU can walk all over the PowerVR544mp4 in the ipad3 so anyone please help... should i wait for phones with the next Gen GPUS ,adreno 320 and Mali-t604? or will my gaming needs be met with the GS3 with the S4 CPU running the adreno 225 GPU? im ready to get rid of my Iphone4s... but i still want the same graphics performance of the powerVR543mp2 in my iphone 4S , i love the idea of android and i cant wait to leave the dark side of apple!!!! If you go ahead and pre-order you will be able to keep your Unlimited. Tiered plans are supposed to begin July 1st, so anytime before then should be fine.

Developers never ever use the highest end hardware when designing their games because of exactly why you're worried. They'll always use the hardware that's the most friendly and easily-sourced in favor of something that is completely different like the Mali GPUs (which is more reserved for tablets anyways if theory comes to fact). Mali is still unproven whereas Adreno is easily sourced. I'll put money that developers will favor Adreno for some time until.

The exception to your statement is of course the Tegra platform, which has versions of games optimized specifically for it. But in general you're correct. The Mali is significantly more powerful than the S4, although in real-world usage the difference would be negligible.

Does the VZW version with the Snapdragon MSM8960 radio have LTE on the actual SOC. Or is the LTE radio on a separate chip like the Bionic and Galaxy Nexus? Basically is there any battery saving with this radio by having the LTE on the SOC itself instead of a stand alone chip set.

Very true but with the growth of mobile gaming today, developers must use next Gen GPUs for example the Malit628 will have native support for open CL, 3D hi Res, multi threading and 64 bit... Look at TV now there will be ultra definition which will make 1080p look like my original Nintendo game boy in the 90s... So smart phones will follow suit... Look at LGs new super phone the eclipse, 5 inch display 440 ppi ! And has an adreno 320 GPU apple knows how important a smooth graphic interface is... Apple has always used high power GPUs in their Ipad and iPhones, look at ICS Google finally use integrated hardware and graphical acceleration in the ICS operating system, u can tell the difference on how smooth 4.0 is compared to 2.3 and 3.0 the future looks good right about now....its the waiting that is killing me lol

Samsung phones are ALWAYS rootable. They allow it. In fact, the bootloader just gives you a warning but lets you.

Get whatever is available in your country. If you ask me, I would love to get my hands on the Exynos. We only got the Snapdragons.
And why are you still stuck in the days where higher clock meant faster processor??

Man... you are lucky! If you want the LTE and LTE speeds while browsing, then the choice has to be SD600. Otherwise Exynos. If you just strip it down to just the hardware, i would say the Exynos.

The SD600 also gets better dev support, so it would have a wider range of support.
For me, i would just for the 16GB and put in an SD card, no point spending a bomb just to get the 32GB version.

I am in the same situation of you. These days, all I did is to gather all information of these two model. Here are my conclusion:
S4 I9500 Exynos 5:
+Excellent CPU.
+Excellent Sound chipset.
- Not support 4G
- GPU less performs worth than Adreno 320 (in game and in benchmarks)
- Expensive(in my country, since I should import the octa core one)
S4 I9505 Snapdragon 600:
+Better GPU
+Support 4G
- sound chipset sounds worth than I9500 Wolfson
-Cpu performs worth than Exynos 5
So I still don't know which one should I get...Samsung is annoying by releasing two differnet models...They know how to make geeks nervous...

Snapdragon 400 Cuad vs Snapdragon S4 Pro

Simple question, I purchased a Moto G GPE and its on its way but i have the curiosity about how the SOC Snapdragon 400 Cuad Core compares to something like the S4 Pro that was in the Nexus 4 which ran great. I know its a newer chip but i havent found any real evidence whether the architecture is superior or inferior to the S4 Pro since it was a flagship chip but the 400 is budget. Anyone has any insight on this? Thanks.

Snapdragon 400 is positioned more like S4 Plus, not Pro. As in marketing positioning.
Speaking in technical terms however, those two SoCs have a completely differnet architecture. S4 Plus always has Krait cores, while our S400 has Cortex-A7 cores, which is generally somewhat slower than Krait, partially because Krait is an Out-of-Order architecture, while Cortex-A7 is In-Order.
In terms of cores S4 Plus always had two cores (up to 1,5 GHz), while our S400 has four cores @ 1,2 GHz.
Now go figure what´s faster. I´d personally prefer two Kraits
Note: Qualcom had really messed up the naming in S400 series as the chips can contain either two Krait cores or four Cortex-A7 cores. Don´t get me wrong, Cortex-A7 is a great architecture , mostly because its performance/power consumption ratio, but the SoCs containg those cores should have been labeled as Snapdragon 350 or something like that.

I saw this. Expected to release on 28th May from Verizon but it's not official. Just some leaks and rumors. Nothing about the hardware is confirmed either.
They are also expecting to release Z4 so it seems a big shot. We'd wait and see what happens. I'd take it with a lot of pinch and salt though but we do understand that Verizon be working to release a new tablet as current one is about a year and half old.

What I'm about to say doesn't mean a thing since this isn't confirmed but it's interesting to note that the G Pad in the picture definitely is not the same as our "old" one. You can notice a difference in the spacing between the front camera and the Verizon logo.

I hope the next model goes top end this time, with a decent amount of RAM, ROM and processor. I expect at least 2GB or RAM (same as current model), but I really want 32GB internal storage. I hope the processor will be a Snapdragon 808 or 810, and not a 615. The only fault I have with the current model was the choice to use a SD600 while the G2 (and Samsung 8.4 inch tablet) was getting a SD800 at the same time.

Absolutely. 32 GB minimum for any Android device I use from now on. 16 GB just isn't hardly enough to do much on.
The 16 GB of the VK810 and the 1.5 GHz SD604 instead of the 1.7 GHz of the other G Pad 8.3's SD604 are my main pet peeves.

For me, 2GB RAM, SD800 and keeping the SD card is a bare minimum.
What I really want to see however, is a screen quality that is at least as good as the Nexus 7 2013 in terms of black levels, viewing angles and contrast. The V500 looks OK until you put it next to a Nexus 7 2013. :crying:

An SD800 would get the job done, but that chip is 2 years old now, so I'm hoping for more.

Disappointing! Reports are indicating an "octa-core 1.5 GHz processor" and suggesting a Snapdragon 615; but if it's a SD615, why is it not running at 1.7GHz? I wonder if it is a MT6753 at 1.5 GHz. And it it's predicted to have only 16GB storage. Either way, I'm disappointed.
I've been thinking about other options, and I think the Nvidia Shield is the only tablet released in the past year that is a step forward.
