Hi All,
My phone does not go into recovery mode no matter how much I try. I tried re-flashing the recovery through Odin, but its the same thing. On startup it says in Blue at the top "Entering Recovery..." or whatever and the screen goes black.
Let me give you a background on this - I had cm11 nightly installed for months now. Today I decided to try the cm12 and without thinking through, just made a nandroid backup and dirty flashed cm12 over it. Now there are so many force stops, google play wont work, crashes, error reports, etc etc. I am not even able to flash gapps for lollipop because now I cant even get into recovery.
Please help me out in this, I am really stuck. I dont care about any of my data, I just want my phone back. Please help me factory reset the phone or wipe system of the phone.
Only positive is that My phone goes into Download mode and gets recognised by Odin, so I can flash any file I have to. Please help!
I am now trying to flash a stock rom. Fingers crossed, but if you guys have any alternate methods then please let me know. Thanks!
Regards,
A sad user :/
You may very well want to try flashing a stock rom/kernal via odin and starting fresh. re-root reinstall recovery, and flash your backup From there. You should be able to find your stock kernel and rom over at sammobile.com/firmwares
Thats really the only option there is.

Ok, I just started experiencing an issue. I suddenly can't get into recovery. Here is a little back history. My N7 was running CNA 3.6.6 (I know, but...), and I was bored so I decided to try ParanoidAndroid. Well, I have that gotta try something else feeling again, and when I try to get into recovery, it will go to the google screen, then go black for about 10 seconds, then go back to the Google screen and boot up. This happens if I reboot to recovery through the power menu, or getting into recovery from the bootloader. I even tried Quick Boot, in hopes it had some magic I didn't. No luck. The same crap. I even switched from TWRP to clockwork recoveries, and the same crap happens (I tried the same things I did originally).
Also tried through other apps too, like Rom Manager, Rom Toolbox, and TiBu. Everything works, but I am bored with this rom... I have tried turning it off, plugging the N7 into a PC and trying to get into recovery. Again, I can get into the bootloader, but as soon as I select recovery, it goes black, then fully reboots...
Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried re-flashing a recovery image, eg TWRP 2.3, from fastboot?

Scheiße, I reflashed TWRP in fastboot, and I am getting the same result. I think my N7 forgot it has a recovery!? I will try flashing clockwork through fastboot and see if this works. Thanks for your help...
Edit: Clockwork does not help. There is no recovery for me. I am now at a loss. Hopefully someone will have some suggestions...
Finally got my recovery back...damn latest bootloader!
Yeah, this has sucked. I have spent several hours figuring out what the hell went wrong. It turns out its the latest bootloader. Others are having this issue. So, I had to go back to stock (which will erase EVERYTHING) and then had to re-root. Now that my bootloader is back to JRO03D, I am back up and running.
So, the first time I did this route, I decided to take the update and re-root my N7, and ran into the same issue. I could not get into recovery. So, I had to do it all over, this time not taking the update and not updating the bootloaders, and I am now back and already have a ROM running and everything installed.
If you want to go this route, here are a couple of links that will help...
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/28544-guide-nexus-7-bootloadersrecoveriesrootback-to-stock/#entry764328 and go to the Back To Stock section. The next part is for rooting (if you wish to do this yourself)...

Unable to get into Recovery after 4.1.2 upgrade... - xda-developers
Any help?
Hey everyone,
Have a problem with a phone that I am not able to solve for the life of me.
Model: GT-i9505
SSN: -i9505GSMH
Originally, the S4 would hang on the Samsung splash screen, since I've attempted to fix this (see below) the S4 tries to boot into recovery mode if you turn it on, but it just hangs forever. It can boot into download mode without problem, and I'm able to use Odin to write to it.
I've tried
- installing custom recoveries, both TWRP and CWM, which to my knowledge installed no problem, but it wont boot into either.
- flashing stock firmware
- flashing stock firmware & pit file
- This fix from Legija though it didn't work. And I did install the Qualcomm drivers first, which was an effort all of its own. Suggested it might be an eMMC problem, I don't know how I would be able to replace that, and instructions for bringing it back from this made little sense.
None of this has worked, and I'm not sure what I could try to get it back up and running. It doesn't matter if it's rooted, running a custom rom, or both, it just needs to work. I've Googled the **** out of this problem, no resolve, so I'd be greatly appreciative of any advice or direction anyone can provide.
Thanks,
Oz

I see you have done a lot of stuff but have you tried to go into recovery and do a "Factory Reset"
and restart the phone? - About 50% of the time this simple method works.
So copy a cwm/twrp flashable zip file onto your internal sdcard, do a factory reset, wipe system,
wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache then flash the zip file rom which is on your internal sdcard and see
if that does the trick.
Give it a try.

Nope. I took the battery out for a long time and it seemed to resolve itself, but the phone was still bust and had to be sent back.

i was in a boot loop and fix it with kies emergency firmware flash, you try that:good:
I've heard ranting and raving about Malladus and I decided to flash it yesterday. It won't take the flash no matter what I do.
I've tried: Flashing 1.2.4, downloading both again to make sure it wasn't a download issue, using different gapps package, using a different lg apps package, using CWM, using TWRP, side-loading... ETC
Bottom line: My phone will not take the ROM. It flashes the LG logo and gets stuck at a black screen where the back-light is on but nothing is displayed on the screen.
I am an experienced flasher and I have no idea what is going on. I am backed up and can get into TWRP to restore so I am all good as far as not being bricked goes but I really want to try out this damn rom.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Same Black Screen issue
Did anyone have any luck resolving this? Ive tried with both twrp and cwm and same issue...?
Same problem on my Verizon model. Using twrp 2.6.3.3. Other roms work fine.
How long have you left it at the black screen? Sometimes a fresh load can take up to 10 minutes.
Also, the rom will work without gapps and lgapps, so try just loading the rom. I know you downloaded twice, but did you check the md5 sum either time?

I left it there for a good 15 minutes. I also had it plugged into my laptop. It kept detecting the phone as plugged in. Seems like it is stuck in a bootloop or something. I also tried installing only the ROM without the gapps and lgapps and had the same result. I also checked the MD5 sum and it matched. (I know I'm kinda hijacking this original post, but I think we are all having the exact same issue)
try this

Can you restore your nandroid and flash say, CleanROM 1.0 or DigitalDream 2.1? OR try this:
1. Hold the power button until the device is OFF.
2. Download LG drivers to the PC (LG VZW_United_WHQL_v2.11.1) and LG mobile support tool (B2CAppSetup).
3. Install these packages.
4. Plug in you USB cable into the phone but not the computer.
5. Hold volume up and insert the USB cable to the PC- the phone should boot to 'download mode'.
6. Open the support tool and click Options>Upgrade Recovery, follow the prompts.
7. At the first prompt indentify your phone using IMEI/ESN, then click OK
8. Let it do its thing, the phone will reboot and most likely have a bunch of error messages and some FC's. Just hit okay to all messages, the phone will settle after 2 minutes or so.
9. Download freegee from market and reflash recovery of your choice.
10. Make sure you have a ROM saved to the SD to flash
11. Use freegee to reboot to recovery
12. Once in recovery you can reflash the ROM as normal.
13. Reboot and Profit!
*$* Or you could go back to Stock and start fresh!
*$* BEFORE ANY FLASH ALWAYS STOP and MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!
Good Luck and if you get stuck let me know

I was able to install the digital dream rom without any issue. At this point I think its the sequence I did everything. I did the latest ota before installing any Recovery. I used the loki method to install the recovery. In looking at all the roms, it appears that malladus may not be "loki patched" for people already on 12b? Other roms I have tried mention that so thats why I'm speculating this. I am by no means a developer so I might be out in left field on this one. I guess I'll stick with stock or another ROM for now until his next update.
It also looks like people are discussing this on the main ROM forum as well so hopefully it will work in the future.
Thanks again for the help and suggestions.

Wanted to share this if you haven't read it..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670
I had issues originally and had to flash back to 1.2.3.
What I ended up doing was switching to CWM 6.0.4.4 ( I was using TWRP 2.6.3.3).
His boot skipped the set up wizard as well, which was odd.
His was also the only ROM I ever got stuck on the fastboot screen while using twrp.
Try ( at your own risk obviously) flashing back to an older malladus (wipe all and boot till you get through the set up wizard),
Then back to recovery, do a wipe, without wiping the system partition, Data Cache and Davlik, and flash back to 1.2.5.
I didn't try it on 1.2.5. But that's how I got into 1.2.4.

Are you on 12B OTA? If so, that would be your issue. I took the 12B OTA and tried flashing Malladus and got the same issue you have. You can revert your phone to 11A and that should resolve your issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960 it will erase everything on your phone and go back to unroot.
im in big trouble on this one, i rarely EVER ASK FOR HELP, but this time im done. i was on fusion 4.4.2 and decided i wanted to try lollipop. so i found the dev edition roms and tried loaading the with philz recovery. got it up and running but only had data NO MOBILE SERVICE. so i started loading different roms with no luck, tried different kernels thinking i mismatched them. still no luck so i tried couple different modems NO LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! got totally lost, upset and agarvated. well thats when i made a BIG BIG MISTAKE. i boot in philz touch and went to advanced menu i formatted EVERYTHING data, system, media EVERYTHING. now i load (thru odin) fresh Philz recovery found the ODIN TO STOCK thread have tried loading ALL the dev files complete stock firm, the kernel modems EVERYTHING. it takes on the phone but when it reboots gets stuck on GALAXY S5 sceen. still says custom and has unlock but wont boot up. so i go back into recovery go to load zip menu and alls thats on my phone is /0 folder and /clockmod folder. so the phone is wiped out and wont take anything thru odin. i can still get to philz but no way to get zip into phone to load. You should be able to recover from any problem scenario you cause in recovery, using ODIN
Stock ROM from sammobile, maybe you'll need a PIT file to re-partition the phone, there is a thread on XDA in these S5 forums with PIT files
EDIT - 2nd post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737448
After wiping everything AGAIN and letting it sit on galaxy screen it finally booted up. 1st thing I did was made a backup now I guess I'm gonna do A BUNCH MORE READING them I'll get this thing rooted and try some other rooms. Seems there's the A08 I'm on then NK2, N12 and other versions and seems only certain roms use certain kernels and firmware. So I need to get the right configuration for each b4 even trying to install them or they don't boot up.
A lot more to this galaxy s5 unlike my Nexus in the past. B4 just load the rom and go. With this s5 a lot more things to do and know about. All part of the game I guess
I was rooting my device and was successful l in that. I flashed TWRP and Magisk and after that I decided to install a custom ROM. While going for it I again wiped the - Delvik Cache, System, Data and Cache. And when I tried installing that ROM it doesn't gets install. Moreover I can't boot into System anymore and now I'm stucked at the screen saying "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted." Also the screen is showing "ID:N/A"
So please please please help me with this problem ASAP. I can't use my phone now please and I regret for what I've done.
Try booting into fastboot mode. Hold down volume down and power for several seconds. If you can get there, you can flash the stock ROM and hopefully get back to normal. There are other threads that show you how to install. Make sure you use a version that is greater than or equal to what you last had installed.

When you installed a custom ROM your stock ROM was gone. That's how it works. But the reason you're stuck at the screen you're at, I don't know.
Restoring back to stock is the first thing I'd try to see if you can actually use your phone
