There is an Xposed addon to enable Ambient Display on the nexus 5.
Unfortunately this is not working on Samsung/LG/HTC devices (non-AOSP).
Has anybody got this working already? (on lollipop ofcourse)
I would LOVE to see this feature on our great Note 4 display
Could you imagine....
Nothing for now wat and hope

Hello,
Is it possible to have ambient display working on the Note 4 like the Nexus 6 just by picking it up or when a notification arrives ?
yup. enable it from the hidden air gesture menu using the app. no rooting required.
Cool thanks, and does it affect the battery life ?

I don't have such menu!! Where should I look for it??????
What app?????
It's not in the recent release. It's missing. It should be under the display and wallpaper menu in the settings screen above the daydream option. You can use alternative apps from play store such as acDisplay or dynamicnotifications - they are more like the moto x (2014) version of ambient display so won't be the same as what you'll get on nexus 6 or in cm12. I'm guessing they'll release it in a future update which I hope is sooner rather than later. The lollipop release for note 4 had been somewhat delayed for one reason or another. There's also a bug on the priority notifications where you can't set a time period for auto selection of priority notifications as you would have in blocking mode. I'm hoping that is resolved in a future update too.

Seems like the coding is there but I'm guessing the ui implementation could be one of the bugs that they're supposedly working on. Hope three rollout of lollipop starts again soon and that these issues are rectified.

Ty. But works in 910f?
Hi guys, I noticed that Galaxy S6 doesn't have DOZE (lollipop's ambient display) feature.
I searched on google but the only ambient display feature is for AOSP ROMs with Xposed only (module not working on TouchWiz).
So I was wondering if someone will be able to make this feature for TouchWiz too (Xposed or not).
Thanks in advance
I have noticed once or twice if i get a notification from someone on my edge contacts it acts like a ambient display when i picked it up. Dont know if the screen was still on from it coming in or it turned on when i picked it up. But it definately reminded me of my nexus 6 ambient display with the clock lit at a low light state and the notification on the screen
So thats a good sign of it being possible

Lollipop's Ambient Display is not present in Touchwiz. You can download an app from the Play Store called Active Notifications (and one other app by a similar name with similar function) that basically does that exact same thing - and it should work without root.
(Also, side note "Doze" (not DOZE, an acronym) is not part of Lollipop, nor is it related to the Ambient Display feature. Doze is a new feature in Marshmallow that puts the phone into a high power saving mode when it's not being used.)
Why not work ambient display in this terminal?
Acdisplay apk for example is working.
[LL-MM] Enable Ambient Display - Xposed module don't work.
It's possible make this with Zuk Z1? http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/how-to-add-ambient-display-settings-t2956690

Simply because CM dont have Doze (aka Ambient Display) enabled for our device. As far as i know it breaks double tap on our device.
I had a Galaxy S4 and liked ambient display...
Any solution to active it or not is possible?
Thanks for your answer Joao.
My girlfriend has OnePlus X without doze and has active display and double tap running at once perfectly

We are working on it on CM13, double tap and GPS were fixed yesterday by MrColdBird.
We will try to enable doze and doubletap on cm13, lets see what we can get working.

Hey XDA,
Does anyone know if it's possible to enable the android ambient display on a rooted style (I much prefer it to Moto's Active Display). I've been trying to get it working for a few days now. I disabled the moto display task, and can select ambient display in settings, but no go. I've installed the Ambient Display xposed module, and have all the options, but still doesn't turn on when I get a notification or when I reach for it.
I've also tried setting up a tasker profile to make use of the sensors, but can't figure out how to switch on Ambient display, not the entire screen.
Any ideas?
Yes, running into the same issue with stock OTA 7.0 and ambient display on XT1575.
Was anyone ever able to get stock ambient display (not Moto Active Display) working?
No... As most developers of ROMs for this device who have ever tried to get Moto Display working on a custom ROM will tell you, Ambient Display and Moto Display cannot co-exist in the same device. If Moto Display is installed (as in on stock), then Moto removed or otherwise permanently the default Android Ambient Display functionality, likewise if Ambient Display is working, Moto Display cannot even be installed, because of how this works it likely has hooks into the kernel as well.
TLDR answer... If you want Ambient Display go to a custom ROM, otherwise live with Moto Display if you want to stay stock.

Nope, the truth is that lenevo intentionally removed some ambient display code from 7.0 for some unknown reasons. On previous 6.0 android you could enable it just by disabling moto display app in the settings.

Hmm... Then why can't we add Moto Display to a third party ROM? (I only refer to Nougat, Marshmallow is legacy in my book)
Is the phone having ambient display feature in settings and dialler app is Google phone app with playstore updates or any other modded ? Plz confirm. Thanks in advance:good:
Yes it comes with pure android experience, so it should have google dialer and I am not sure about ambient display.

Ambient Display is not available for Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, and Asus has no plans to enable it in near future. But still If you want you can use this app from GPS to enable it on any Android device.

Are you saying that always on ambient display is not available or even notification ambient display is not available?
