On the stock ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S4 19505, there was an option to which saved power that was called "Power Saver" that you could find in the quick setting switch bar after rolling down the notification bar. I had recently installed the Pacman 4.4.4 Black Power Edition custom ROM on my S4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400387). I soon found out that I need my battery life extended, if there is any way I can achieve this again with even better power saving that would he fantastic.

Something weird happened to my phone and I couldn't find any mentioning for it online, maybe you will know.
After using Samsung's battery saver mode, where only some apps are active - all of the apps stayed turned off even when the I switched off the battery saver mode.
No matter what I did I wasn't able to switch all apps back on. (screenshot attached)
Any ideas what to do?
It's Samsung Galaxy s5 Android 5.0 TouchWiz not rooted.

So I got this s5 a few days ago from my friend...moment I got it I noticed that it overheats a lot,for example 5 minutes of browsing and the cpu temp would go up to 70 degrees celsiu,also the screen got really hot.Yesterday I also noticed that the screen has a burn in,which is common for amoled,but then I thought that maybe battery is causing all my problems. Tried to charge it with original sammy 3.0 charger,it goes to 100% but never shows the green led and batt full sign.When I restart the phone batt goes to like 95-94%. So what do you people think?

How to Fix Bad Galaxy S5 Battery Life:
1. Find Apps Eating Up Your Battery
2. Disable Unnecessary Services
3. Restart the Samsung Galaxy S5
If you start noticing weird battery drain and or your device starts heating up, you should try performing a reset to see if that returns things to normal. Most of you know how to restart the Galaxy S5 but we’ll remind you anyway. Hold down the power button, confirm that you want to turn it off, and then hold the power button down to turn it back on.
4. Start Using a Black Wallpaper
There are tons of them out there. After you’ve downloaded one, go to Settings -> Wallpaper -> Home and Lock Screens -> More Images -> set your black Galaxy S5 wallpaper.
5. Start Using the Device’s Built-in Features
You’ll also want to start using the Galaxy S5’s built-in battery saving features. Power Saving Mode is a good place to start, and Ultra Power Saving mode is an even better option when you need the Galaxy S5 battery to last longer than normal.
These features allow you to block background data and turn on grayscale mode which can help to limit the amount of juice being sucked up. You can also slow down the processor, reduce screen performance, turn off the lights on the buttons, and turn off GPS to save battery life.
We also recommend getting familiar with the the brightness slider. The screen can suck up a ton of battery life so you’ll want to monitor the brightness of the screen if you’re starting to notice bad Galaxy S5 battery life.
6. Replace Your Launcher
If none of these fixes work, there are three other drastic solutions to try. The first is to replace the TouchWiz launcher on the Galaxy S5. The TouchWiz launcher has been known to hinder performance and it can be replaced. There are tons of different launches to choose from though the Nova Launcher is one of Android’s most popular choices.
7. Downgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat
If that doesn’t work, you could try downgrading to Android 4.4 KitKat. A Verizon Galaxy S5 user recently put together a step-by-step process on how to move back from Android 5.0 Lollipop and those interested can find the instructions here. This isn’t guaranteed to fix your issues but it’s worth a shot if you don’t want to wipe the device or if none of these fixes have an impact.
FIXING GREEN LED LIGHT
Go Settings -> Display -> LED indicator -> Charging has to be checked.
You can also try factory reset. This will fix all kind of bugs.
LED light is showing while charging...but only red LED,it never shows the green light even though the batt is full...this is just basic stuff that you told me...but anyway thanks.
We have an Amoled display, black is off pixels so.
-Dark wallpaper

-Dark theme if possible
-Set your keyboard theme dark if you don't mind.
-Vibrate is very battery hungry, turn it off when you don't need it.
-Turn off the notifications you don't use
-Prefer lower screen brightness
-Uninstall junk apps that run in background with a battery monitor
-Turn off NFC, Bluetooth, Wifi, Cell service if you never use them.
-Use E-ink display when an option.
-Adblocker, ads are wasteful of device resources in general
Might be more trouble than it is worth suggestions
-Lowering DPI, won't help your screen, it will help your SoC work less, so small benefit unless your gaming
-Underclocking CPU
Well, I have been flashing my Yota 206 with several ROMs to find out the best battery life, I have an YD206 and it seems the radio is not exactly the same as the China one, the /radio folder is different in size from the HongKong one, and I flashed the HongKong one since it came originally from there, and all the problems with battery life and reception are gone! I am with Lollipop latest HongKong version, HongKong Radio.
For Screen brightness there's a very good app "Pixel Filter" that turns half of the pixels off, making it great for night and battery savings, also it auto changes the pixels it uses to prevent OLED pixel burning.
To gain some more stamina I had a bit more than op:
Xposed
Gravitybox to set :
- brightness below android limit
- Quick access switches for lte, nfc, automatic brightness
Others module (powernap, amplify, greenify, Better battery saver, boot manager )
Kernel adiutor:
- cpu governor to conservative
- clock limit to 2Ghz
- group processs for less core usage
Developper mode:
-force gpu rendering
- animations set to 0,5x
Android 5.1 would have been better, I hope marshmallow would be better. With some custom kernel.
Also, activate digitizer for epd double touch unlock should consume a lot maybe setting on "power button only unlock" will save some battery drain.
I can't find an automatic power saving option on my S7 Edge on Nougat for when the battery drops below a certain persentage (eg. 15% or 5%).
All I can find is just a notification (for 30%, 40% and 50%) that prompts me to "tap there" to enable power saving which then opens another window with power saving options, I need to tap one, it takes a dozen seconds for it to change the power profile.. it's a drag.
So I'm wondering if there's anything automatic for power saving (like in all Android phones since lollipop) or maybe I somehow turned it off?
My phone was on 13% battery and still didn't switch to power saving (just the notification to tap there to turn it on).
Same here. I also can not find the automatic power save setting on Galaxy S7 / Nougat. How lame if Samsung took default Android feature out.

Quite rude when people are trying to help.
So here's is a partial answer to my question: there is automatic power saving, it kicks in at 5% battery.
Anybody found an option to raise that 5% to 15% or 20%?
I checked everything battery and power saving related in settings and couldn't find it...
Device Maintenance> Battery.>App power monitor. There you can choose the apps you want to set power saving for and choose "Save Power".
It is not exactly the same as in vanilla Nougat, but if you want vanilla, Samsung is the wrong device.

No, that's not at all what I'm asking or looking for.
I know about this list, it is also present in vanila android, and it is completely useless...
I'm looking for an option to set the automatic power saving mode to kick in on higher battery percentage (20% or 25% or 30%), basically anything above 5% what the default is.

I understand what you are asking for because I myself would like the option, not sure why it's a manual process as seems daft to me.

Right!? It's weird that auto-power saving only kicks in at 5% battery, but then again the battery is pretty impressive.
I'm getting used to manually turning on the power saving mode and tweaking the brightness if needed.
Yesterday I achieved 9 hours of screen on time, manually tweaking the phone as the battery drained.
Maybe they forgot the option with the 30/40/50% notification to also activate medium power saving.. a simple toggle is missing there :/
I hope they add it in a future update...

Yes the battery is pretty impressive and maybe they'll fix it like you say, hopefully!
I've not been one for power saving settings before but I like how this works, except for the one bug I've noticed is annoying me slightly.
When turning off the power saving and the resolution changes back from FHD to WQHD my keyboard (SwiftKey) size changes to really small so I have to adjust it each time; not sure if it's a bug or because the resolution is changing.

Yes, it looks like they have added a short way to reach the power saving setting screen, but avoid an automatic activation of the mode, rather then at 5%.
To activate it easily and using that fast activation, you have to wait until you get a notification for low battery, then click on the notification and select manually MID or MAX.
I just loved the old fashion automatic power saving....
I noticed the same right after updating. It is extremely annoying. It's frustrating when useful options which used to exist are removed. "Updating" is meant to make stuff better after all...
I liked the 2 power saving options before the update. One decreased performance a little & my screen didn't change. It was a little slower and not as bright. It was perfect and it's gone. The other was Ultra Power Saving. Apps were very limited. It was great when I was in a crunch & couldn't charge it right away. The new "improved" Power Saving is horrible & I hate it!
Updated my S7 to Nougat, couple days and regretting the decision more and more everyday. Yesterday I've noticed hey I'm at 10% and not in power saving mode like why? Oh we thought it be great idea to kick in power saving mode automatically only at 5%.....
There is suppose to be a Battery Saver option that lets you choose between 15% or 5% when to automatically kick in power saver mode. But apparently Samsung removed this option?

If anyone has a link to a petition or something please post it. I used to go powersaving at 50% and kept my phone topped off, I hate even seeing 2x%.
And I dont see an ultra saving mode, you basically flip the customization options each time? I understand the concept -- but we all like to have the phone at full-everything at least for the glorious first 10% after charge.
Then OK for the next 40%.
Then frugal mode kicks in. Being frugal all the time is just no fun.
S7 user here, the same thing happened with android 7.0 update. Really miss the auto power saving feature... I had set it to kick in at 20% and it was what I needed to have my battery last for a whole day. Now with Nugat update the battery doesn't hold for whole day anymore because of this, what a shame!
So there is no option to set it to say extreme power saving when battery drops below 10 % ?
