Hey all, just checking to see if anyone else has had problems with their volume rocker. In the two weeks that I've had the phone, about half a dozen times it has become stuck on the volume(-) down button. This forces the phone from Ringer -> Silent -> Vibrate, where it sticks just vibrating continuously.
When this would happen, a quick tap of the volume(+) up button solved the problem, However... somehow the (-)button is now permanently jammed. I have no idea how this could have happened as I treat my phone better than my own body.
To top it off, I tried restarting the phone because it was not responding due to the stuck volume rocker, and now I'm stuck at the boot loader
gunna take it back ASAP. Anyone else had their G2 volume button stick before?
I've had this happen many times but its not the button getting stuck. It happens when I never touch the button as well. Right now the phone is also doing random vibrates when using the optical pad. Might have to give tmobile a call now.
I don't have this problem but sometimes a slight touch to the volume down button presses it

wow that would be annoying, but no i have never had that problem a single time
i too has this happen to me. i will keep an eye on it and if it happens again, i am going to call tmo. this phone seems to have alot of hardware issues.
Oh, yes. I know I wasn't crazy!
Has it happened that it stays vibrating after an unlock?

no problem here
did you get some sticky substances on the side of your phone?
I push volume down all the time by accident when I'm typing with the hardware keyboard. Never got stuck though.

Got this phone for my wife and it is happening to her all the time...
If it continues we may be returning it for a new one.
The past few weeks I've been noticing that my DHD often vibrates at random times, when it should not do this at all.
It just vibrates (in stby mode), nothing else but I always think I'm getting a call or a text, which is pretty annoying.
Sometimes it vibrates just once, but also sometimes it vibrates 3 times, very fast and hard. Last night it even woke me up...
Anyone having the same issue?

Had this today when I bought it out of standby. Thought I had a text or email or something but there was nothing. Never noticed it happen when in standby though.
This happens regularly on mine too! its frustrating! you think you have a call or a message but you dont! :s
Its probably caused by your signal going from hspa (3.5g) to 3g to gprs

Isn't this called Blackberry syndrome? Imagining your phone vibrating, just so you can check it!
Seriously though, I dont have this on my DHD. It was present on my Hero though. I think its your phone getting lonely because your not using it.
If you press the volume rocker right in the middle it will vibrate 1 time and sometimes it will do 2 quick vibrates following the first one. This is probably not related to your case but it fits under the random vibration for other that might not know about it.
I noted you get a vibration when you signal goes out, and when it comes back again.
it does happen on mine too...
but i think i know the cause... its usually after using the volume buttons when it does it
but after installing CM, it doesnt do it anymore... i think its something to do with stock ROMS (mainly sense)
+1 more for that, i thought i was going mad when i first noticed it, but after reading this im feeling a bit more sane,
stock rom btw
Mine does it too. I'm using Custom Modaco Rom. When I go to unlock the phone it vibrated but not all the time. Never in my pocket though. I thought it was 3g watchdog playing up but other people getting it too so not that. It did it just now reading these posts hope it doesn't get worse.

Mine does it too. Got used to it now though.
Mine does this, but I know when it does it and why.
Usually it's either when unlocking the phone, or pressing the power button to lock it.
The reason why? It's because I have fat hands and accidentally press the volume down button when using the phone, causing it to go into vibration mode (which makes the phone vibrate once to let you know).
It's confusing, but entirely my own fault.
That's kinda diffirent from what I'm having. Mine does this without going into vibration mode or anything elsr for that matter. It just vibrates, even when locked and when the screen's off...
Just noticed that it does indeed have something to do with the volume buttons. Just lock your phone, press down both of the volume buttons, unlock it and then you will feel the 3 vibrations
I've noticed mine vibrates when launcher pro crashes, happens while i'm listening to music and try changing the volume sometimes, every time it happens the next time i unlock the phone launcher pro has to restart.
Although I have noticed it some times vibrates when I try to lock or unlock the phone and accidentally hit the volume buttons, not sure what happens there though.
EDIT: Just been trying to lock and hold one of the volume buttons, I've noticed it locks up for a second or two, so it's most likely something crashing I think.
Really sorry to bump a thead from a few weeks ago - but has anybody had any luck with resolving this?
This is the only thread I could find on the matter, and it's becoming a big annoyance for me. It's NOT when I go into vibration mode or anything, it can be anytime - even when the screen is off.

I just tried this and you're right - the three vibrations. Perhaps it's by design but I can't see why.
Anyway it's nice to know how to do it on purpose; mind you I used to get it all the time with my old cheap case, with my new case it's never done it "by itself". It seemed a bit odd but I assumed the case was "pressing" both volume buttons when on standby from time to time (makes sense).
I've noticed when i'm putting the phone in my pocket (or out), i tend to grab it on the top with the volume buttons. And yes, it does vibrate when i accidentally press them.
Try it yourself.
Regards, clumsy long fingered dude.
Mine used to do this as well. It would be sitting on the desk not touching anything, screen off and it's just idling doing nothing on stock sense rom, then it would just vibrate randomly a few times. It was a bit spooky and it kept doing it randomly :/
It has since stopped doing that, no real reason I can see why, I have flashed LeeDroid but it stopped randomly vibrating before that.
I'm on AR HD and it's still doing it.
I'm not too bothered, but a fix would be nice.
If I keep randomly pressing buttons on the phone, it will make random vibrations. Sometimes one, two or three. I don't have to press the power button, the phone screen can be turned off, and the phone doesn't go into silent/vibration mode either.
I just played about with the volume buttons now and I got a bit of lag on my phone, lasted for about 15 seconds then went away...
I am not sure if I had to create a new thread for this but I seem to have a weird problem:
The volume rocker on my phone isn't as sensitive as it used to be - specifically the volume down.
It still works but I have to press it pretty hard (as compared to volume up).
I got my Nexus sometime in January (the 2nd batch) and I've had no complaints since. I've dropped the phone once but that was from about 2-3 feet high (a good month ago).
My main concern is that eventhough it works now, what if it completely dies in a few months? And God forbid this happen to the screen on button!
What are my options here? How do I get it fixed? Can you guys point me to the right direction?
Thanks!
Depends how you bought it was it Google play was it from Tmobile are you stock non rooted ect until we know these answers we will not be able to help you

I bought it off Google play. Everything's stock.
Bump!
I've gone completely paranoid and I've stopped using the volume down completely. Now I use Volume up and then use the touch to reduce volume
another bump
one final bump
Hey Everyone -
I searched the forum, but was apparently unable to come up with a previous post about this, so here goes:
My wife and I both upgraded our Droid Turbo 2s to Marshmallow last week. Since that point, when we put our phones on vibrate only for notifications, after a bit of time, the notification volume will turn itself back on (generally ends up about 15-20% volume).
I had thought that maybe, however unlikely, the volume rocker was getting bumped in my pocket, but I just turned it down to 0, left it on the desk, and within an hour, it was back up to 15-20%
Any thoughts on this? Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Thanks!
Actually, just made some progress on this. I'm using Nova Launcher currently. I also have Yahtzee with Buddies installed on my phone. If the notification volume is down, and I open Yahtzee with Buddies, then click the "Home" button to go back to Nova Launcher, the volume turns up. I'll keep digging, but that's weird as hell.
Happens with Launcher3 as well. Must be a weird bug with Yahtzee.
Hey guys, it's been a little while since I've had any problems with my XT1575 but I flashed crDroid's 7.1.2 last June and loved it. About 3 months ago I started having a problem where my ringer randomly goes out of vibrate mode and goes to the first notch of volume. I thought nothing of it and disabled the side rocker, but it keeps happening. I can push the lock screen button on the side a bunch of times and watch it happen. I also noticed that when this happens, the screen will bypass the lock screen and just open whatever app I was in last (or the home screen if I exited the app before I turned the screen off)
It's obviously something in the software so I flashed the 20171119 version with the November security patch and it's still happening. I then did a factory reset, reflashed everything over again, and cleared the Davlik Cache and it didn't fix it. This is very annoying because even if I put it in "do not disturb" mode it still turns the volume up.
What do you guys think?
