Had my HD2 for over a year now and finally got fed up of lack of WinMo apps, which my housemate with his iPhone loved to point out all the time. So I decided to try out Android a few days ago.
Read all tutorials etc and installed Skink's clean desire rom v1.3 using cwm. Got everything set up and was really pleased with my shiny new phone. Everything was working like a dream!
I decided to get a new 16 GB SD card as my 8GB card was full of music etc. Here is where the problems started...
To get all data onto 16GB SD card:
I partitioned it using cwm using same size partition size as on 8GB (1024mb)
Copied all files on 8GB fat32 partition onto 16GB fat32
With the 8GB SD card in the phone did a backup using cwm
Copied backup onto 16GB card inserted it into phone and did a restore
Now the fat32 and ext3 partitions on the 16GB card and 8GB card should be the same, so everything should carry on working fine when i boot up my phone.
It didn't I just kept getting lots of stopped unexpectedly errors until finally everything stopped loading even the home screen, and I'd have to remove battery. However if I just put my old 8GB card in everything worked fine as before
So after much frustation I gave up on this method and decided to just wipe everything on 16GB card and start from scratch:
Formatted 16GB card
Repartitioned it using cwm
wiped data, cache, dalvik cache
installed clean desire rom from sd card
booted up started reinstalling all apps etc
Now here is where things get very strange, I'd start reinstalling apps and reconfiguring to how it was before and then randomly I'll get a stopped unexpectedly error, like process.android.media or something similar. But it seems as if everything would carry on working, then slowly I get more errors until for example as soon as you click on internet you get an error and it closes.
I believe the problem lies with the sd card seeing as that is the only thing that has changed. I also think this rom stores more than just apps on the sd card. Because after I get a few of these stopped unexpectedly errors nothing is saved on the phone. For example I'll change the ringtone from x to y click ok, but when I click back on change ringtone it's still on x. But I can still play music that is stored on the sd card. After I reboot the phone for a while I can make changes and they are persistent but eventually I end up back at this strange state. It's almost as if I can read from the SD card but not write to it.
Another example when I've got to this strange state, I'll add a folder to home screen, add apps into etc. But when I restart the folder has gone.
If I reinsert my 8GB card and do a restore, I get everything back and it works perfectly. But I want to use my 16GB card, that's why I bought it!
My questions are:
Does anybody have an idea of what is going on when it gets into this strange state?
Does anybody know how to fix it?
Is there some way of testing the SD card?
Should my first method of getting all data onto new sd card have worked?
SD Cards are:
Samsung 8GB class 6
Transcend 16GB class 6
Sorry for the long post, any suggestions are greatly appreciated
Hey guys,
I've searched for a while but can't find a solution for my problem..
After flashing XBmod-Yuki rom V 2.00 everything works fine (also with older NoDo-roms) but when I change the region&language settings into something different, there's either a restart loop or a storage card error.
I've tried several ways of flashing, including this way.
My SD card: Transcend 16GB class6. Btw, a 2GB Sandisk works like a charm..
Is there any help out there??
Kind regards...
It could just be the card, SD cards seem to play a huge part of wp7, there are many problems that can crop up, sometimes you might not see them until you fill up the card to a certain level or the moon is full just depends... Not an answer but a possibility
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I think I had the same issue today, when I turned it on today, I had a SD Card problem. I pulled out the battery, re booted the phone, arrived in the main menu then.. it freezed! =/. I pulled out the battery, pulled out the SD Card and plugged it again and now it works fine!

Didn't work for me.
Unfortunately, everything's fine after a hardreset but with a reboot (manually or to make an update/flash a cab) there is this storage card error!!
before you do anything after a flash, sync with zune and dump a few hundred meg of music on it, my card is unstable until i do that.
HD2 does not recognize a brand new 8GB Sandisk.
Any help please - my phone does not seem to recognize any SD cards anymore since I installed WM7.
I even bought a brand new 8GB card, and the phone does not recognize it at all.
The 4GB SD card that used to work fine, is also not detected anymore, but that could be due to it being encrypted now _ although I formatted with the Panasonic SD format tool.
I put 4GB of music on it - no (positive) effect...
I have tried Cyanogenmod 13 (Marshmallow) on my device (Rooted LG G3 D855 with TWRP 2.7). Everything went well but things goes wrong when I tested the adoptable storage function.
Trying to configure my MicroSD card as internal storage, I got an error message: Your card is not fast enough to support the function. I gave up but I realized later that I was unable to boot (bootloop) and unable to access TWRP.
I thought first that my phone was bricked.
I spent several hours trying to find a solution (downgrade). Then I tried to remove the MicroSD card. And tada... My phone works again and my MicroSD was unable to work, even in another phone.
I concluded that my MicroSD card was dead. I bought a new one. I received it with an adapter (MicroSD to SD).
I tried to format the old (presumed dead) card using my computer and I got an error message: ownership problem. I forced formatting with Terminal, put it back on mo phone and it works smoothly.
Conclusion: Function to use with caution. The card was configured as internal memory. Few hours later, the phone failed to recognize it… then panic on board.
that's what you get for buying cheap fake crap memory cards.

Dude, I am talking about a 64gb Samsung Evo class 10 MicroSD card (the first one) and a 32gb Sandisk Ultra (the second one).
Any suggestions for better brands ?

those are the top brands!
the ownership problem is because your phone formated it and changed permissions but when you pulled it out your phone paniced because part od the internal storage was gone

there are utilities to fix cards that don't show the correct space do some research
Ok hey guys. Yes I searched. This forum and the internet in general.
So I don't know why but all of a sudden my phone won't recognize my SD Card. It has been working for the month that I have had it but all of a sudden... IDK It is a ScanDisk 32GB SDHC-1 U1 Class 10. Anyways I have unlocked bootloader, rooted, xposed installed on stock operating system. I don't have the May OTA Security update and I flashed the zip since I can't accept OTA updates with modded os and it didn't work. No biggie, I don't really care about the May Security update anyways. This was like 2 weeks ago. Well I get tired of seeing the screen asking for me to download it so two days ago I got the app "DisableService" and in the folder Motorola Update Services, I disabled Ota Service. That's the only thing I have done recently. Anyways last night I pick up my phone and notice some of my apps have disappeared. I look in the storage and usb section and the sd card is there but greyed out. I restarted my phone a couple times, popped the sd card out, cleaned the contacts, and put it back. Nothing. I have everything backed up anyways so I forgot the card and reformatted it but I get this error
Whenever I reinsert it I get the notification "Unsupported ScanDisk SD card" but I can't format it. Maybe the card went bad all of a sudden? It's just weird. So I bought a new MicroSD card-PNY Elite-X 64GB microSDXC UHS-I, U3. It's on the way but I don't like not knowing what went wrong with the one I had. Any suggestions?
SD cards do go bad. Do you have any SD cards laying around you can put in just to test if it is the SD card or the phone hardware?

The only other one is in my wifes phone and I'd have to forget it and wipe it. No biggie I guess I'll just wait for the new one and see. I upgraded to 64GB and U3 so I'm happy about that.

Still on first day of ownership with device here. Android currently reports a corrupt SD, and I recall reading that there's two options for storage under Android 7. The traditional, of keeping the SD card as a separate file system, and I think the updated handling has to do with encryption.
Will revisit post if I encounter similar issue, regarding low battery.

It's natural for the first time, but in my case it shows corrupt SD even after I ve already formatted it with my phone (Only if phone switches off due to low battery).
Well It gave me corrupt card error on the 3rd day of use, all I did was just restarted my phone and when it turned on It show Sd card corrupted. Although my PC was able to read it. Then i took a backuo, formatted card with phone and restored data. Hope I don't see the error again.
My card got corrupt yet again after a normal switch off and on process.
It's a 64Gb card. Don't know what to do.

Here the problem comes..., it's a software issue I guess, BTW there is a workaround. Connect ur SD card to a computer and scan it for errors(apply fix if needed), after that test u can use it as before. I hope it helps :good:

Tried everything but not this, yes I also believe it's a software iasue coz data stays intact after it says corrupt. My 1st workaround is not switching off the phone.
Thanks
Same issue here. I bought my Moto G 5 Plus 3 or 4 days ago. Have a Sandisk 32GB (Class 10) MicroSD formatted as Internal Memory. I restarted the phone several times and everything was fine. Till one moment I wanted to take a picture, but the motorola photo app was crashing every time I wanted to take a picture. I restarted the phone and the MicroSD card was corrupt. The MicroSD was basically new, never used, only inserted once in an other phone, but not even used once to store anything. I really hope this is a software problem and not a hardware problem, and that they will fix it..

Was this ever fixed?? Im buying the phone and getting on Friday
Well, no OTA updates so far, so I guess no fix. I'm using my SD card as external storage (Not formatted as internal) and I had no issues so far. The only downside is that you can barely move any apps to the SD formatted like this. But with the internal storage space of the Moto G it should be enough for now. I hope tough they fix it in the future. I'm wondering tough if it's not an Android issue. I wasn't lucky so far with internally formatted SD cards, on my previous phone if the phone crashed for whatever reason, anything that has changed on the SD since the last reboot would disappear. So I wonder if it's an global android issue.
I'm getting corruption errors with two brand new 32GB and 16GB Toshiba Exceria M302/EA microSD cards (http://www.toshiba-memory.com/cms/en/products/microsd-cards/exceria/exceria-pro-m302-ea.html).
Now I'm testing an old 16GB SanDisk Ultra and it seems to be working but I fear it won't last.
I have a G5 XT1676 with stock NPP25.137-15 and no updates available.
No corruption issues here. I bought a Sansdisk 128GB Ultra card. Ive been using the phone for a couple of months now. I have 80GB worth of music on it and I have photos saved to the card. I think the quality of your SD card will have a lot to do on seeing this issue. Good luck
Similar issue with 32 GiB Lexar SDHC, brazilian G(5)+
Greetings,
The same thing just happened to me: after a manual shutdown {1}: SD reported as corrupted, but reads fine on a Mac. The SDHC card is a 32 GiB Lexar and my G(5)+ is a stock factory unlocked brasilian version.
This did not happen in the prior manual reboots, since I got it in March.
{1} Launcher3 was throwing "not responding" warnings and Google Cards was very laggy, so I manually rebooted the phone after clearing Launcher3 cache and storage.
Cordially,
GemSev.

Update:
So far, all attempts at formatting in-phone stall, in both internal and external modes, at 20% and 30%, respectively.
Waiting for another SD card to arrive for further tests.

My Lexar card just died after a reboot it was working fine in my m8 before I got the moto g. When I plug in the card to my pc I can see all the files but they are write locked so the card is effectively dead.
Subscribed. I am also seeing the SD Card Corrupt on bootup. Wonder if it's bootup or restart/shutdown that messes it up? Tryinig to eject media, turning phone off and booting to see if it's happening on boot time or on restart/shutdown.
EDIT: Didn't have to go that far.... I press EJECT, then took out, inserted back in, CORRUPTED. Must be the EJECT or SD Prepare sequence? Or maybe an encryption issue (when re-inserted it has new keys/whatever encryption it uses?)
EDIT 2: I rebooted phone (power button until it rebooted) and SD Card shows CORRUPTED. It's either not updating the FAT table or must be the SD Prepare sequence corrupting it. I inserted the corrupted SD card on Windows and it showed "You need to format the disk in drive before you can use it." and no matter what format I use it gives me the message format not recognized on the phone.
I ejected the card via OS and checked on PC, CORRUPTED.
I HARD ejected the card and checked on PC, CORRUPTED.
I rebooted phone (power button until it rebooted) and ejected the card before boot and SD CARD is
CONFUSED!!!
It's like the card is good until it powers off, then it's no good.
CONFUSED!!!
Regret not getting the 64GB version now...if that's all I am going to have.. Moto needs to address this issue...
Fixed my SD card
This same thing happened to me.
I repaired my SD card by taking my SD card out of my phone and connecting it to my computer using a micro SD adapter.
When you click on the card's drive letter in Windows Explorer it will probably say 'This drive is corrupt and inaccessible'.
So I opened up the run box by pressing 'Windows Key + R', typed in 'cmd' then 'enter' to open the command prompt.
Then I typed the command 'chkdsk (drive letter of your card) /f'
for example: 'chkdsk D: /f'
Press enter and then chkdsk will run and should repair your card.
You should now make a backup of the files on your card just in case this happens again.
sd card is not even showing so how to format it
guys i have a samsung 16gb sd card it was lost and i found it after 2 days and now it is not even showing in any phone any pc.... i think its pin has tempered but if there is a way to fix it then tell me
The same happens to me, Moto G5 (NOT Plus). All cutom and stock ROMs have had this SD card being corrupted after a boot, came here for help but as I see, there's still no solution to this problem. Gosh, I'm starting to hate this device, buttons are not clicky anymore!
Last time i tried to make my SD card work, after watching a coupple of videos from my SD card, it couldn't read it anymore, I had to format it again, practicaly I can't use my device with SD cards. (Sandisk 16GiB Class 10)
