hey all, im thinking of getting either a galaxy s3, the htc one x or the galaxy note.
now iv read that the htc one x has serious overheating issues so im not going to bother with that now. so that leaves me with either the galaxy s3 or the galaxy note.
some reports are saying the galaxy s3 has heat issues too but nothing certain.
question is, does the galaxy note have any issues that i should be aware off? if its prone to overheat or failures of other kinds then please let me know and i will not bother to purchase it.
thanks all.

Well there is the emmc issue, which basiccly means if your wipe/factory reset your devices while on a stock ICS rom it can brick your device, other than that no issues really
S3 has the best hardware, fastest CPU and probably the biggest life span since it's newest.
Note has big, amazing screen, great hardware and amazing battery life.
One X has terrible battery life, can't replace battery, no sd card and not that great performance for a quad-core device.
I just got my s3 and have to say speed wise it leaves the note well behind no lag and very smooth overall.
However.
It feels like a toy compared to the note the screen is not all that on the s3 and the note feels a better quality device.
Ive played with the s3 for a bit and now its just sittig there for work duties. the note deffo jas the edge in my books

I'd get the s3. Who knows if Samsung is going to update the note anymore beyond ics... also the s3 has a better processor, it also has a better camera and is certainly more future proof. I'm actually thinking of dumping my own note for the s3, buying two. One for me and one for my partner. I played with it in the store and boy does that device fly. It's just so fast and it seems like it's a lagless device. The note isn't a bad device. But we're talking about a 2011 device vs a 2012 device. Also the new flagship device. I really hope Samsung does keep updating the note because this device is awesome as it has an awesome screen and the pen which originally I found useless but then I started to use it and it's grown on me to the point where I'm not sure I'll be able to survive without it. Haha. How about that? Lol.

really it depends if the s-pen matters to you or not.
if it doesn't, then just go for the latest and greatest device.

Yes I agree about the lag and smoothness; but only if we're talking about stock roms. Flash your note with a custom rom (CM9), and you won't find a difference plus you will have a wonderful big screen:good:
very tempted with the note, the s3 does seem like the logical choice since its newer has faster tech in it but the s3 forums seem to be complaining about overheating issues. im just not sure if i want to risk going with the s3 for those reasons. iv used the s3 in tescos and it is truly a fast device. im also considering getting a google nexus 7 so not sure if the galaxy note is ideal for me. although it does look amazing since the screen is so big.
main thing is that im worried about the reliability of these devices. if there were no reports of overheating of the galaxy s3 then that would have been my first choice.
I have a note 2. Any former Note 2 owners here care to comment on whether I should do a straight trade for an s4? In terms of resale value, S4 is worth more. Just seeing how battery and overall use compares. I hardly use the pen.

S4 is faster (Processor 1.9 ghz) with most of the goodies as the note 2 and the S4 still gets great battery life. Thats just my opinion! The only thing that the note has is a bigger keyboard which i do like cuz i have dumb thumb!
yesssss. fair trade.
i currently have both phones on my plan. the note 2 was my primary until i got the s4. been using s4 for 2 months now. sometimes i REALLY miss that big old phone......I've been tossing around the idea of switching back to the note 2. one weird thing though. i used the note2 for 8 months and the s4 for only 2. at first the note seemed a "little" big. then it was absolutely normal to my hand and mind.now that im using the s4 (a big phone in its own right), the s4 seems a tad smallish and the note must have grown since i quit using it because it is now HUGE.....WTF happened? oh well. they are both awesome phones and either one is a great one to have. technically the s4 is superior. but MAN that note sure is a nice phone.
i'll quit rambling now, just my two cents worth.
FYI I kept the first note 2 I have for myself. Bought a second used note 2 for my wife for $180 and traded that one for the s4 and then sold my old s3 for $200! Can't complain about that. She's petite with little hands so the note 2 pretty big. I do think her phone "looks cute" now that I'm used the note 2 just for a few weeks.
Don't do it.
Just curious, I might trade in my S5 for a Note 4 around Christmas break when highschool finishes for me, yay.
I'm probably willing to only pay 100 to 150 extra + trade in for the device though.
What are you guys' reasons for moving to the Note 4 or not moving to the Note 4?
I honestly don't like the Samsung s series I've been a huge fan of note series.
Only phone I don't own was note 3 currently own note2 I am for sure upgrading to note 4 no doubt about it.
Reasons would be obvious currently I own note 2
It has got a better hardware
16mp OIS which I was looking forward for I wanted the Samsung guys to upgrade the can which they did this time I am happy I wanted a more better but satisfied with this .
Spen improved a lot multi tasking which I am a huge fan of on note series.
Apart from this its less gimiciky and more productive as compared to s5

I am moving from S5 to Note 4, bigger screen, better battery, hopefully better performance am not totally happy with my s5s performance.
I'm thinking of making the move as well, mostly for the OIS camera and larger screen. Hoping for a dual sim version though....
Definitely going back to Note series, never S again.
I went from note3 to the S5, felt like a downgrade, biggest mistake :/
Hey guys.
I currently have an I9505 S4 and was looking at getting a new phone, I'm thinking of the S4 but is it worth it, or should I wait until the S6?
S6 will most likely be available next month. I would wait if I were you unless you want the Note 4 now. If the S6 gets an OIS camera, it will be worth it just for that. The S5 camera is lackluster. Biggest improvement in the note 4 imo was the camera.

Hey
The note 4 is pretty good... I got an upgrade from the i9505 and I was impressed with the note 4 but I wasn't 100% satisfied... The performance feels pretty much the same and there are some roms for the i9505 that makes it pretty much exactly the same as the note 4 :/ personally, I don't use the health stuff or the finger scanner so they don't matter to me but I do enjoy using the spen a lot for playing games and typing is more enjoyable too by writing it's really a case of whether or not you want the spen... The s6 will be 64-bit and there's rumours saying that it'll have a new touchwiz and it'll have a new design. Apparently the new design will be aluminium and glass which probably means the battery won't be removable if that matters to you. I love my note 4, the design is absolutely amazing and the performance is brilliant and 64-bit probably won't make any difference to phones within the 2 year lifespan of the note 4. At the end of the day, the biggest deciding factor is the screen size and the spen it feels a little like Samsung wants to abandon the note 4 though with all the delays with the lollipop update :/ it sort of feels like they don't care.

since the s6 will be announced in a couple of weeks you can wait and then decide (to be honest i've never been able to wait for the next phone to be announced )

If your phone is working fine, I would've waited, since we don't know for sure what the S6 brings to the table. It sucks if you buy the Note 4 now, and regret it when the S6 is announced.

If you have no real use for the s-pen like some, I would definitely wait for the S6 . I know I will be preordering it as soon I can, and of course I will do the same as soon I can order the Note 5
Exactly! The S6 launch is too close to buy a phone right now, before finding out what the S6 has to offer.
I switched from an i9505 to a Note 4 and I found the difference huge in terms of performance. I quite like the bigger screen, better battery life, the S-Pen, etc. But those may not be important to everyone, it's a matter of personal preference.

are you really asking the community to look for the best price of the note4 in your country?
S pen doesn't really bother me, the s6 gets announced in 2 weeks so I may as well wait and see if it's worth investing. Had my s4 for nearly 2 years. It's still zippy but it'd be nice to have a new phone haha

If you want a big display and S-Pen get the note. If those 2 aren't a concern for you then I'd suggest waiting.
I'd wait either for the S6, or better yet for a 810 SD phone- Flex2

Short and sweet
Wait till S6 releases (just 15-16 days)..and compare Note 4 and S6... then choose whatever attracts you most...thill then N4 price will also drop little bit. Then you will be at better state to judge.
So i say wait and watch for some days!

Phones get upgraded so often. It depends on how much money you want to spend. When S6 comes out don't buy it dude, wait for the note 5, S6 specs will be ''outdated'' when note 5 comes out (sarcasm). Galaxy S series is different from note series. I think its stupid comparing 2 phones of these different sizes and productivity, but people only want to be cool and have the latest phone. There is nothing Note 4 can't handle and won't be anything it can't handle for quite a long time for sure. If you dont care about money then wait for S6. If you do, take the note 4, which I think will be better at the end of the day.
id wait for the s6
For me I'm already waiting for S6 once it's released [Can't wait!] I got S4 I9500 Exynos & it's been 3 years and still gives me solid performance and durability. My advice is to wait for S6 then decide which one you will choose.
i upgraded from the symbian nokia n8 to the note 4. other than the larger screen a 5 yr gap was not THAT much of an improvement. i would wait until the note 6 to upgrade. personally i am going to replace my note 4 with a note 8 or equivalent when it comes out in 2018 or so.
No dont i have one and it sucks all around

I recommend you to wait to Note5, I upgraded from note 3 but I think it's downgrade not an upgrade, Note3 was the best smartphone, I'm not satisfied with this device
i wouldnt get the s6 if it comes out with a display smaller than the note 4
hey guys, i have a question, i am planning to get a new phone, the only real choices are the galaxy S6 and NOTE 4, i have a galaxy S4 right now, i like the S6 a lot, but i prefer something with a bigger screen and battery, the NOTE 4 on the other hand is cool too, but, it has the old TW, which i am already bored of, so the question is, will the NOTE 4 get the refreshed TW from the S6 soon or is it only after the NOTE 5 is released?? and what do you recommend?? THANKS
I think Note 4 will get Note 5 tw probably next year. Both phones fall in different category. You have to set your own priorities.Processor & gpu wise S6.Screen,Battery & S pen for Note 4

the thing is, because i am using an S4 right now the S6 doesnt feel much of an upgrade in terms of screen size, the NOTE 4 on the other hand feels really something special with that big screen....its a really tough one...in terms of performance the S6 has the edge but still its not that of a difference...basically the only reason to get the S6 is the new software....

Hi, I am glad you are looking into buying a new Samsung device! I think you should purchase the Galaxy S6. I own both devices, however the Galaxy S6 is simply just better. Even with a smaller battery pack, I was able to squeeze out 3-4 hrs more compared to the Galaxy Note 4. I used it to play some games, browse the web, and basic call functions. The S6 runs way faster compared to the Note 4 (device restart time, application launch time and application switching time). One last thing, S6 runs noticeably cooler than the Note 4 as well.
To answer your question, Samsung flagship devices will receive one TW version newer than the one that was released when the device was announced.

thanks, its always good to hear from someone who uses the phones....i think i lean toward the S6...simply because the S6 ui is just better, and it will one more update than the NOTE 4 because it came out later....

i do prefer bigger screen, but at the same time the S6 is faster in the day to day tasks, almost no lag, the problem with samsung phones is the updates, the NOTE 4 will get the S6 new ui next year, and lollipop for the NOTE 4 is not staple enough from what i heard, so its better to have something already optimized with lollipop unlike the NOTE 4....so if i get the NOTE 4 i will be stuck with KK for a while...and again its ui is not as fast/smooth as the S6....i have to make a sacrifice...

yes you can't have everything, but I guess you already know what you want to get... just enjoy it, and I know you want to upgrade after a few months when Note 5 or S7 arrives. Just like myself, look at my signature... I only had my S4 a few months back, and I bought a Note 3, then now a Note 4

the thing is i always use the phone for at least 18 months...so if i get an S6 or NOTE 4 there will be no going back for me....but from what i know you can use the device for two weeks then return it and get something else...so i am planning to get the S6 first...then in two weeks period i can change it to NOTE 4 if i feel that the screen is small....obviously the NOTE 5 will have the best of both worlds...but its coming only after 6-7 months...and thats a long time

I always die a little bit inside when I hear people moaning about performance. S6 is faster, yeah theoretically it is.. but practically it isn't. The software on the S6 is optimized better than the Note 4 lollipop update(Its just ****). And another thing is, multitasking works way better on a bigger screen than the S6. But its your choice. I think you're choosing wrong if you're going to judge on software.

the optimizations are the reason the S6 is faster...thats the trouble with samsung...once the phone is released they do not optimize the software for it...my S4 with lollipop is ****...lags..hangs...thats the trouble...the NOTE 4 will have the same issue...about the multitasking...i dont care that much...the only plus with the note 4 screen is the size...easier to read and better for watching movies....
No lag here on the Note 4

I was interested in the S6 but when I found out no microSD .... it was out of the picture.
I got the Note 4 on 4.4.4 and I have yet to see any lag .... if you think the Note 4 lags you must be very picky indeed.

believe me i am not the one that discovered the word "lag", many people said it lags, lets ignore the lag thing, i wanna ask you, do you prefer to have the latest and greatest UI or stick with the old one? the hall thing is, i have a galaxy S4 right now, and i have a rom that ported from the NOTE 4, so if i get the NOTE 4 i wont have the feeling of something new in terms of UI....the new TW on the S6 looks better than every other TW...its more refind, smooth animations...if you dont call it lag then you call it delay instead...its the same thing
Have u played with the S'Pen ? Did u like it? or was it just a novelty thing? If u really enjoyed using it, i think u should get the Note 4. the S6 screen is 5" approx. The Note4 is not far from 6". And true, the S6 is a beast to run, but it has to cuz its got the latest n greatest in it, tho u'll be paying a premium for it. Unlike the Note4, its a beast still, just a Yr behind the S6. Why not get the cheaper Note4, with its huge screen, then wait for the Note5? By then it will be King Phablet and be running true 64bit Lollipop optimized to the maxxx hehe. Naw, either is good
