Hey guys
Wondering if anyone else with an S5 Duos is experiencing a similar issue-
I find that when I'm connected to WiFi (both at work and at home with full wifi signal) my phone seems to consume around 5% battery every hour during sleep, if I switch WiFi off the battery usage is around 1 - 1.7% per hour on LTE during sleep.
I've tried stock firmware for KitKat and Lollipop and have the same issue on both. This does not seem like normal behaviour judging from the previous Galaxy S3/S4 I've owned. Thinking it might be a bug in the radio rom?

Hi there,
I'm having a really weird issue. My Galaxy S4 (i9500) is having a serious battery drain issue. As with most people, Google Play Services is the culprit. However, I noticed that it drains at a rate of about 6% per hour while I'm at work, but only 2% per hour when I'm at home.
I have the exact same WiFi access points at work than at home (D-Link 1155), and I honestly have no idea what else could affect it. See the screenshot here:

You can clearly see the moment I got home, the drain stopped. Yes, my screen has been on less than it was at work, but the screen still wasn't the cause of the battery drain at work.
Literally the ONLY difference I see between home and work, is the strength of the mobile network signal (see screenshot).
Any ideas?
weak mobile network signal can cause the battery to drain much faster

Even if WiFi is connected at the same time?
What do I do about that?
All of a sudden, my S5 has started experiencing quick battery drain when wifi is turned on. If I turn wifi off, I get very good battery life.
Any advice?
Same here. Suddenly started on android 5 with custom rom.
Till now I have reset/factory reset, try another rom, try back to stock but still not working.
When I turn wifi on an there is a huge drain. I'm talking about 100-0 in just 13h without usage.
If just mobile network is turned on everything is allright and there are three days battery life.
I have watched with battery doctor etc for some reasen but there is no awake or something.
In battery usage there are missing 80% of used battery just don't listed.
Sounds for me like it's an hardware issue?
Thanks for any help
Sorry for bad english
After installing marshmallow to note 4 910F, I found out to much battery consumption.. It was more obvius when i left phone at night, connected with my wifi router. It had 20-30% battery consumption at 7 hours. Phone on, wifi on, rest off.
If i turn off wifi, no battery drain.. I loose 3%.
Even with 4G on, and wifi off, i loose much less!!
I tried more than 4 roms 6.01, factory erased everything, even safe mode. Always wifi drain.
In lolipop i had about 3% drain with the same.
Searching in net, i found out same problems mostly with nexus (probably because they had first of all marshmallow and they find it first..). I also found the same for note 5.
Many say to set router to 2.4 gihahz, set static ip, turn off something like v6 ip protocol? I don't remember well.
Also i read, mostly problem exists if router have huawei chip.
Checked mine, and it did had huawei chip..
Anyway i didn't found a solution for this. Tried better battery stats and found out tha alarms was for long time. Sleep was 85%, when normal would be 97%.
I also have a photo showing bigger drain in wifi than 4G.
Anyway how problem solved? I changed router and with everything same, i loose 3%....
But when i connect to other routers coffe, etc, if they have the same chip i still have drain there.
I probably find out the problem in note 4 first of all, as i dont read anything searching so, i inform others here.
note marshmellow battery drain
hope this helps. had the same problem of battery drain and not being able to put phone in power saving mode. i stumbled upon things that the update cuts on and you have no idea, anyway, it seems that the update has the search for other devices running 24/7 and you have to go in and switch it off. since then power mode has been enabled and stays on and battery life is back.
hello , guys .. beezyb can you explain with steps ?! you said that it seems that the update has the search for other devices running 24 hours / 7 days and i have to go in and switch it off ... bla bla .. what you mean with that ? !! can you help me ? !
Hey guys,
I know that there are too many people with battery drain problems in the forum. But I'm getting frustrated with the battery life of my S7E in the last few weeks. So I hope you can help me.
I'm using the latest Super Stock Rom V.2.4 on my Exynos S7E, connected to a Gear S3. Over the last few months I was able to get 5-6h SOT with any rom I used. But in the last few weeks I'm having strange battery drain. I'm having the battery issues with every rom I tried after a few days. With and without a connected gear
Issues I notized in the screenshots:
1.) Wifi was deactivated 80% of the day. But why is BBS showing me, that Wifi was running for the 100% of the time?
2.) The usage of the Proximity and Grip Sensor seems too high for me. What could cause this activity of both?
3.) 5000x RILJ wakelock? What the?
4. 1500x Android System Wakelock (things like Imsservice, *alarm*, motionservice and so on)
Some screenshots.
force doze disable sensor ?
Hi,
anyone here using the 930U firmware ,
i get only about 2-2,5 SOT.
Is it the problem with the U firmware,
Or nougat itself,
Thank you.
Edit: My battery drop 35% in six hours standby last night T.T.
I have the same issue. Not sure what causing the drain. I moved to hybrid rom by jkruse . That helps keeping the battery life good. https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/development/rom-t3637664
i have the verizon variant and i have the same issue, i'm returning to stock verizon rom
Same problem here, it started about 2 months ago. I have noticed that it doesnt happen when airplane mode is activated and only wifi is on, maybe radio is causing the problem (?). I'm going to try the hybrid rom mentioned before
Could someone solve the problem? I have the last update and the battery is drained and turned off with 40%
That's odd. I've been using the G930U on my G930A for some time now and I haven't had any problems with the battery life. Then again, I only have Wi-Fi on my S7, so maybe it is a radio issue?
I do not know, sometimes it goes off with 40% others with 19% and so it varies but never reaches 1% and it will be 2-3 hours of screen use that the battery lasts. I changed the battery but it remains the same
