I googled how to root it and you can flash twrp on it. So, no, the bootloader is not locked.

If i have a unlocked s4 can i flash any rom on it
you must have an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER. so if you have AT&T not at the moment; other carriers too. which carrier did you purchase it through?
There is rooting, SIM/network unlocking, BOOTLOADER unlocking; not the same thing.

You have to wait until a bootloader unlock is released for the AT&T variant. There isn't one just yet.

[root] RegionLock Away

Works great, but, if I update my firmware, to let's say kit kat, does my unlock / region unlock still remain?
Network unlock? Yes yes.

Region unlock is different. I'm not sure if it would work but I wouldn't even try because there isn't a root capability for kk yet.

There's a guide here in the general section and one in the DynamicKat thread that'll show ya how to up to 4.4 while keeping root. :3

Factory unlocked question

I just purchased a factory unlocked note 3, about to unpack it but was wondering if I can flash kernels on this phone being as its not a vzw locked bootloader. If so, where do I go to find a forum for that phone?

Your bootloader is locked. No kernels. Safestrap and TouchWiz based ROMs only.
Is there a way to unlock bootloader? Like on sprint, t-mobile phones?

[Q] G900V root on 4.4.4?

I've received this phone as a gift and I had to switch service providers at the same time. The phone is the Verizon variant, but I am on the t-mobile service. I have two questions.
1). Which forum on XDA would be associated with my phone?
2). How would I root my phone correctly. (Towelroot does not work).
Thanks. I am new to this forum, so if this is obvious to most, I apologize.

Theres a verizon s5 section, you can actually get to lollipop, and towelroot is going to be your method you jsut need to downgrade.

That would be great, because I haven't seen anything specifically for my model and Android version.

I'm looking to make my s5 as fast as possible!

I want to make my s5 as fast as possible, what rom would be the best to use and is it possible to overclock my phone.
This is a AT&T phone but I'm on the t-mobile network.

Unless you are already rooted you're out of luck for anything that needs root. You can freeze bloatware and stuff but I personally don't know the best way to handle speed on a stock device.

If you are on lollipop without root you can't downgrade so you can't root.
