I currently have an unlocked Galaxy S5,g900v (b), looking to update to lollipop. I use a tmobile sim so I will not be getting any OTA's from verizon. How can i update to lollipop without installing custom rom, and maybe with a tmobile instead of verizon pre loaded apps/settings.
Thank you.

I have an unlocked AT&T_ S5 with a T-Mobile SIM card. I want to update to lollipop and my phone won't update automatically through my settings so I suppose I gotta d/l and update but which update do i d/l? AT&T or T-Mobile?
The at&t s5 (SM-G900A) variant has locked bootloaders, meaning you can't flash any other ROM's besides the stock att rom, unlike the rest of the T-Mobile or other s5 variant communities do. At&t hasn't released the lollipop update yet, and they released an OTA update, still KitKat, recently. So head on over to the att section of the forum and you will see there is a safe strap method available, but I haven't personally tried it.
Hi, I've been searching for a solution for failed Lollipop update on my AT&T device. I bought my device with AT&T and switched to T-mobile with sim unlock a year later. I'm currently running N900A...NC2 (4.4.2). My device is rooted but i haven't done much after rooting it except removing some bloatware. I'm able to download the OTA update that AT&T is pushing (at least i think its the lollipop update). However, after download the installation fails. I don't know if this is because i'm not with AT&T any longer or is it because my device is rooted. Tried calling T-mobile with no avail. Wondering what my options are at this point.
I read in a thread here that DO NOT FLASH other carrier's stock firmware with ODIN. How true is that? I'm pretty novice at Android devices. So any help/suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Root can stop OTA.

I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (Unlocked) and I am currently using it on Cricket wireless. The phone is currently running on Android 4.4.3 and I would like to update the same to Lollipop. Samsung Galaxy S4 got Lollipop rolled out by AT&T recently but I was not able to get the same since I switched carriers.
Now what is the best way to update the phone. If possible I don't want to root the phone. I went to best buy local store but they were not able to do the same as they said the phone is unlocked. Please let me know how I can update my phone to the latest version. It will be really helpful if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks all in advance for the help.
Will putting a AT&T sim in my phone help with the OTA? In the sense if I get an AT&T sim card from someone or purchase one and put it in to my phone will that help with the OTA? I am not sure if this phone was unlocked by AT&T.
I was able to successfully install the updates on my phone. I was able to downgrade my phone by installing stock 4.4.2 using ODIN and then was able to upgrade my device to 4.4.4 first and then update to 5.0.1 via OTA. It was an easy process and the instructions in the ODIN thread was really helpful.
Similar situation
I too have an unlocked SGH-I337 that is unlocked from AT&T and I'm using it on T-Mobile. How did you perform the Lollipop update without an AT&T SIM? I took mine to the Samsung experience at Best Buy and they weren't able to do it via Kies and they believe it's because it's unlocked. Nothing else has been done to it, just the AT&T unlock so that I could switch carriers.
Thanks in advance,
Charlotte

I'm looking to get an Galaxy S5 for AT&T, and am wondering how I would update my ROM when using the G900T (T-Mobile)
My understanding is that the G900T comes with unlocked bootloader. I would be getting that model for specifically that reason "just in case" - i.e., if down the line I want to use an alternate ROM.
In the meantime, though, I want to use whatever the most "official", straightforward (i.e., "most approved") ROM I can, even if this means being "behind" on the latest and greatest.
Does this mean that I use the T-Mobile ROM? Or the AT&T ROM? Can I update OTA (as is my preference)? If not, what would be the most straightforward method of updating the ROM?
you would need to get a sim-unlocked G900T, and then you can just put your ATT sim inside and it works.
Not sure if you'll receive any OTA updates if you're not using a tmobile sim though. Most of the newer phones are already on 5.x, you you'd be pretty current.
I got an unlocked G900T last week and put a custom touchwiz rom on it from the att dev section, and it works just fine.
