LG G2 f320 only 2G - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I have network problem with my LG G2 f320 (korean version). I have T-Mobile Czech Republic but I can use only 2G/gprs. In the notification bar I have 2G icon mostly time, sometimes there is 3G but not received/send data (arrow next 3g icon doesnt light) . 4G doesnt work. In the network settings is only choice between "wcdma only" or "automatic" . Please do you have any idea where should be a problem? Thank you very much
I have Android 5.0.1 (with older versions it didnt work too)

Nobody knows, please?

Apn settings?

Thanks. I have right apn settings

5457#*320# should openn an hidden menu. If yes inside you can find other carrier commands

Thank you. I tried it change frequence manually but it is same as "automatic" choice inside the hidden menu.

Have the same problem. Any solution now?

[GUIDE][No Root][5.0][4.X] Enabling LTE Without Root

EDIT: Clearly now that there are custom ROMs, this will be less likely an issue. But @icheyne pointed out a good method that will work on most ROMs I believe, since it uses Android's default testing menu.
For those seeking a permanent solution, you WILL need root.
Currently no permanent solution on LG Stock Lollipop.
Here is some information about my situation:
-Currently on Fido Network in Canada (LTE Band 7 [2600 MHz])
-I have achieved LTE speeds of 31mbps (Down) and 25mbps (Up).
-I am rooted, but it should work without root access.
-Firmware is stock V10h-TWN-XX
-Network mode only shows GSM / WCDMA
Before you begin, this is what you need:
-An LTE micro sim.
-Do some research on which LTE bands your network uses and if your variant has the ability to use that band.
-Correct LTE APN settings for your mobile carrier. Make sure it is LTE APN, my carrier has two separate ones (Regular, LTE).
-Mobile Network does NOT have to be turned off (You can keep data on during all of this).
-With Mobile Network on, go into Settings -> About Phone -> Network and remember what is written under "Mobile network type".
-Make sure you are in a location that has decent LTE connection.
METHOD FOR LG STOCK LOLLIPOP
1) Open up your Dialer, and type in the following to enter LG's Hidden Menu: "3845*#855#" for D855 (If your model is not listed, please do Google it!)
"3845*#850#" for D850
"3845*#851#" for D851
"3845*#852#" for D852
2) Go down and select "LTE-Only" and go into "Modem Settings"
3) Now select "RAT Selection" and click on "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto"
4) Without rebooting, the data icon switched from "H" / "3G" to "4G" for the first time (Turn on Mobile Network if you haven't already)
5) Now go into Settings -> About Phone -> Network and under "Mobile network type" it should have "LTE" instead of what you had before
Currently no permanent solution, each time you reboot, switch to 2G/3G, or go into "Mobile Networks" menu, you will lose LTE
But it's okay, redoing steps 1 to 3 will get LTE back once again. Tedious, but at least it works
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUICK METHOD (Working for all Jelly Bean ROMs & some Lollipop ROMs) (Thanks to @icheyne)
1) Go into Dialer -> Dial *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone Information
2) Scroll down to "Set preferred network type:" and click on the pull-down menu
3) Select what type of setting you want, I personally keep it on "LTE/GSM/WCDMA"
4) Select "LTE-Only" and go into "Modem Settings"
5) Without rebooting, the data icon switched from "H" / "3G" to "4G" for the first time (Turn on Mobile Network if you haven't already)
6) Now go into Settings -> About Phone -> Network and under "Mobile network type" it should have "LTE" instead of what you had before
7) [ROOT][Permanent LTE] For myself, I used a root explorer (ES File Explorer) and go into "/system/app" and delete (or move) LteConfigs.apk and LteConfigs.odex. Now you should be able to go into the "Mobile network" menu and it should have the "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" setting. Thus making LTE a permanent option.
Those without root access will lose LTE if they restart, switch to 2G/3G, or try to go into the "Mobile network" menu.
If you have any questions, please leave a reply. Hope this helped.
If anyone who cannot get this to work, please post with your details (firmware, carrier, LTE band, etc...).
i have heard some reports that updating some settings in the hidden menu will work, but after restart, it will just go back...hmmm.. this one retains the LTE option?
Yes, after having it on for a few days, restarts, as well as going to an area of weak reception will not affect it. It will sometimes jump back to 3g in weak signal spots (underground), but after I go outside, it will switch to LTE automatically. I should probably update the title since I've learned that this applies to other models as well.
EDIT: @chacho_2me So I found out what breaks the LTE, but it's not major unless you manually switch from LTE to 2g or something like that. Step 11 should say it all, just don't go into the mobile network menu, and you should be fine.
thanks dude..currently im roaming....will try this one when im at home
thank you so much sir.. hope i could help you sometime
I really dont know why LG didnt notice not having the LTE option on othe releases
anyhow...thanks again dude
@chacho_2me Very sorry, I don't know what happened, but unfortunately restarts reverts it back to 2G/3G. But I'll look around to see what I can do to get it to retain, will most likely need root.
If it already states LTE under Settings > About Phone > Network, would you still recommend going ahead with this tweak?
@Curleyyy Are you getting LTE reception though? If you are, then you don't need to do this. This isn't really that much of a tweak, more like just some hidden settings, that's all.
If I'm not mistaken > 2G > 3G >4G > 4G LTE ?? Reception around my place is usually 3G with a bit of 4G occasionally.
@Curleyyy In terms of speed, LTE is currently the fastest. But reception wise, it might not be the best choice. If you are in an area with poor 4G/LTE reception, it is best to go with 3G connection. If you like to find out exactly which regions have 4G/LTE, I'm sure your carrier will have that information on their website.
Thank you so much
It's working fine on Fido. A heartfelt Thank you
Cheers
I found a solution that doesn't require knowledge of the network's LTE bands:
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Click Phone Information
Scroll down the page to the GSM/WCDMA dropdown.
Select LTE/GSM/WCDMA - the data icon should switch from H or 3G to 4G.
[ROOT ONLY] Using a root file manager (ES File Explorer) go into "/system/app" and rename LteConfigs.apk and LteConfigs.odex to LteConfigs.apk.bak and LteConfigs.odex.bak
Reboot
Go to Settings -> Tethering & networks -> Mobile Networks → Network Mode and select GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto.
@icheyne I confirm that works, I will change the post.

I need to change lte band. What way i have. Secret menu ont allowed me to do it in Android 5
Oh dear, that's inconvenient. I don't have lollipop installed yet, since it's been quite busy for me and I need my phone. I will try to update the guide for Lollipop.
When I can test it personally, but for now, if you could try to surf the forums. I am short on time lately, I do apologize.

On mine, only the .apk file was present, not the .odex file. I have flashed a stock-based lollipop rom. I renamed the .apk file and the lte was added to the mobile networks menu, but my phone is still not connecting to lte .
It is correct, the "phone information" menu loads on lollipop, but an error message pops up overtop and you can't get to the settings due to this.
I sure hope I can get this working or I'm going to have to get a different device!
@vinistois Thank you for reminding me about this. I do apologize in advance for not keeping up with this as I am still sticking with JB for the time being. I just flashed L to try to clear things up. Are you currently rooted? And do you have the D855 model?

[Q] Unable to get 2G /3G on my lg g2 320s in India on idea network

Dear friends
I got this korean version of lg g2 320s. I am able to use only gprs on this. I have tried setting the apns manually but not able to get 2G or 3G to work.
When i go to network settings it shows only 2 options for Network Mode. first is LTE preferred and second is 3G only. My carrier Idea says i need to select wcdma which i don't see.
I went thru some forums before posting here and tried 5457#*320# i tried changing band selection but still my device wont get 2G or 3G signal.
Please help me or point to the right location.
Thanks

Lg g2 f320l no network mode option

I just bought an lg g2 f320l u+ korean version. . I was impressed by the specs prior to buying the phone. But yesterday i found out that this phone doesn't have any network mode option under tethering and network menu. It is stucked to G (gprs)
Which is super slow. I tried #*f320# but it's not working.. i also tried the #*4 something. . It didnt open.. i also tried the other code which will bring you to general hidden menu. I kinda regret buying this phone.. everything seemed perfect except the data network option. I just want to have at least hspa+ network.. btw this phone is 4g lte capable.. but just can't find the option to turn it on.. please help me.. thanks in advance.

dear there is no solution of this issue expect you use telenor sim.
on telenor network it conects on lte with good speed.
Lg g2 network options
You have to root your phone to be able to access system files after which you can edit build.prop files. The problem is in one of those files it will open up the network options. +256794277450 hit me up if you get stuck
I have the same cell too.. I lost the option where it had Network Operators list from there one could select jazz 4G, Warid 4G etc.. Plz guide where it is now? I inserted 4G sims of Zong and Jazz in it.. set APN too.. yet failed to get 4G but i remember it had somewhere "search network operators manually" option in it. Plz help.

can't change network mode!

hello!
I am trying to set my network mode to WCDMA because I want to use data and receive calls on the same time since my carrier hasn't enabled VoLTE (that's another story...) but I can't!
The option is there, settings, more, Mobile networks, network mode, i make the change to "GSM/WDSMA auto" but it won't stick! If I go back and come again to this menu, the option is reverted back to "GSM/WDSMA/LTE auto"!
There is no luck either with the LG hidden menu, *#546368#*870# , it says "Connection problem or invalid MMI code".
Could this has to do with my modded kernel?
Any other ideas?
Here is my setup right now:
LG G6 H870
Android 7 Nougat V11i-EUR-XX
Melina kernel 3.18.62-melina-rel7_2017.12.31_uber-6.x_STOCK_zefie
Thank you in advance for your help!
That is a GSM phone. You cannot simply switch to CDMA. Different hardware.

what?
If i know that correct, WCDMA = 3g, right?
I want my device to be locked to 3g only, not 4g, because when I receive a call, it drops from 4g to 3g and I lose my internet connection, which is really frustrating if you are in the middle of a video call!
