So.. I'm struggling..
My mom has a Galaxy S4 (My old device, I now use a Note 4). I gave it to her rooted with a custom ROM about 2 years ago from now. It's been having random problems and it's so outdated, I decided I would get her a new ROM and fix up her phone.
Backed up all her pictures, all she wanted, and got prepared to install a new ROM. I found one in the forums here called [ROM]【5.0.1】Google Play Edition 【JFLTE-GPE】 - 01-28-2015.
So I downloaded it, and using Philz recovery I wiped all data and installed the ROM.
Calling doesn't work. Try to call someone phone turns off. At full brightness the phone seems like it's at what 40% brightness would be. And I'm sure there are more little problems here and there I would encounter, but I need to get this fixed ASAP because she has work tomorrow and she NEEDS a working phone. Edit: Just noticed on the Lockscreen it also says NO SIM CARD - SPRINT
So, since this didn't work, I searched YouTube for a video on how to unbrick/unroot the Galaxy s4 back to stock, found a video, involves Odin, followed steps exactly, getting a FAIL red bar in Odin. Great.
So I Prefer her to have a working Lollipop ROM, the one I found looks great just can't get it working. Otherwise, getting her phone back to unrooted/no custom rom completely Stock Sprint galaxy S4 would be great.
LolliPop ROM > Completely Stock Sprint Galaxy S4 > Where I'm at now.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think my problem may have to do with the firmware? Really not familiar with this stuff :/
Here is the device info:
Android Version: 5.0.1
Model: GT-i9505G
Baseband Version: L720VPUEMK2
Kernel Version: 3.4.105-GoogyMax3_GE5-v1.2.7 android @Gpe #26 Fri Jan 16 23:11:58 WET 2015
Build Number: LRX22C.20150128
Please any help, need her phone fixed ASAP or I'm Dead! haha!
I've made some progress.
I now have the Calling and Texting working perfect, it does recognize a SIM card, everything involving mobile data and connection works great.
The only problem now is the Screen Brightness. The best way for me to explain it, is it's like a Normal Galaxy S4, but the brightness is limited to between 20% and 40%. Meaning, if you put a normal Galaxy S4 on 20% brightness, that's my Galaxy S4's LOWEST. And my Galaxy S4s highest is what a normal galaxy S4 would be at 40%. Completely unacceptable d:
Any suggestions?
NEVERMIND NEVERMIND NVERMND NEVERMIND SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED.
In settings, under display, turned off adaptive brightness. Boy do I feel stupid!

Dear friends,
I've looked at page after page after page, and couldn't find a similar unique dilemma.
So here it is...
This is my first post here. Yes, I'm newish to rooting, flashing, launching, and ROM's etc.
I upgraded from the S3 to the S4 2 days ago, I rooted it via Kingo aka Official Soft Modder.
Then today, I go to use the camera, worked fine yesterday, I get "Warning - Camera Failed"
And I can't make phone calls either!
The rest of the phone seems to be functional, WIFI, txts, internet and so on.
So then today I'm wondering WTH and hit youtube I ended up downloading Odin and the 1.6GB
file from sam mobile, my phone had no firmware branding, now it is Telstra.
No improvement, no worse either.
I checked in the phone's status and it has gone from "custom" to Official.
Does anyone have any suggestions to get my phone working again? Please Help!
My phone is a S4 GT - i9505, 4.3, I'm in Australia and it's unlocked.
Is it bricked?
Forgive me if I left any details out of this.
Thanks in advance:highfive:
So I am from Canada and picked up the exynos version from a Korean seller on ebay.
Model number sm-n910K I actually have a huge problem. When wifi is turned on phone will reboot whilst in sleep mode after about 5 minutes if I turn off wifi it works fine. Note this happens even if I am not connected to a network the radio just has to be enabled. I am out of options I might rma it to the Korean seller but I think I might have to open a case with ebay, as these guys are being very difficult here is a video attached. I filmed it for 5 minutes but only recorded the last minute. http://youtu.be/ahLB0A2pCOM any help would be super appreciated thanks guys. I am at a loss whether this is software ie corrupt modem from improper driver installation at factory or just a faulty modem things I have tried already.
1. factory reset + cash wipe
2. Reinstall firmware using kies
3. turned off automatic scanning
4. turned off download booster.
The only thing that works is keeping wifi off. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Have you tried flashing with Odin?
Hey, I also have the SM N910K. What network are you using it on?
I have that version as well without that issue. Can you grab a picture of your About device specs?
Hello there i got same version SM-N910K i didn't have that issue with wifi , but i got battery drain , i live in uk and the phone keep searching for LTE- A ,
N910C with the Samsung SoC
I have the same Issue, i live in the US, I was in Malaysia and manage to get a N910C with the Samsung CPU, when I set the network to LTE/WCDM/GSM (autoconnect) it keeps serching for 4g networks, and it does not switch to lower networks even if available, which causes a huge battery drain, i had to set it down WCDM/GSM for it to get data. I did not have this issue with my note 3 which i also got in Malaysia last year, btw, the note 3 came with qualcomm cpu, and that leads me to believe there is a problem with the modem on the samsung SoC.

Hi! i found a solution where you can force your phone to go to GSM Only, WCDMA only or your preferred network type. In your dialer app type: 319712358. It will ask for a password and the password is 774632. And voila you can now choose what type of network you want to use. This will help with the battery drain.

can you share the 910K stock flashable kernel and modem link?
Hi!
I've bought a Galaxy S5 (G900P) from Ebay last year, but I wasn't aware that the Sprint variant is meant for the US. (just realized that now, since I ran into problems). I've used it for almost a year now, running Android 5.1.1 with Cyanogenmod custom ROM on it - here comes the thing - as G900F. (which I just realized aswell, thinking back, and checking screenshots / Windows logs). The About Phone section, the usb drivers in Windows, several other things claimed it was G900F firmware on it - and I was able to use 3g mobile internet on it, was connected to Vodafone Hungary without problems. (turns out I can't use 4g in Europe with this variant, that's my bad). The Recovery mode (used Phil'z) and the Download mode both displayed G900P..I'm not sure what to think now.
The problems started when a few days back, Cyanogenmod announced the 13rd version, and my auto-update on CM12 took its curse, and updated it. The whole thing went smooth, phone rebooted, and instantly got hotter and hotter, draining the battery seriously fast. I've tried several apps, methods, none could help it, so I decided to just stick with Android 6.0.1 (since it came with the CM13).
Through 2 days of suffering and reading forums, pages till my eyes bled out, I managed to have a stock G900P 6.0.1. Android on my phone, it's currently charging, but here comes the fun, I'm not able to get mobile internet (3g). I could connect to Vodafone Hungary somehow, calling, and receiving calls, but there are several other things wrong with the phone like this. I've also tried to revert back to 5.1.1 (even the Stock ROM would be fine, I'd gladly skip on CM12), but Odin failed and failed each and every time.
So my question is: I know it's possible, because I DID have it, but I don't know how to anymore - G900F firmware on a G900P phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(current status - Android 6.0.1 with stock G900P firmware - unrooted / I think/ ; without custom recovery, in Download mode both things say Official)
P.S.: if this subforum isn't the place for a thread like this, I'm asking a mod to please move it to a rightful section, thank you!
Dear Team, good afternoon,
I'm a 42 years old daddy, in love with Linux and doitbyyourself stuff!
My last message in a forum was probably more than 15 years ago, but this issue is driving me crazy.
Background: few time in the past I flashed, rooted some samsung devices, but honestly speaking I had no mood to learn anything more than that.
Few weeks ago I was tempted to install Lineage17.1 on my SM N9005 ( NOTE 3 Samsung)
and everything went smooth. The day after I realized the front camera was not working,
giving me a generic CAMERA FAILED error, crashing almost immediately or freezing my screen with a dark screen for few seconds.
Tried few classic solutions ( reboot, wipe, clear cache, full reboot removing battery) as suggested on this forum and on the web, but no luck. Not even other app like OPENCAM etc..
I decided to go back to stock and installed Lollipop. Surprise, no camera again
Probably odin problem or corrupted rom, so I tried I think not less than 5 more stock rom ( brand, no brand, etc) Never had the camera back.
I even tried to go back to original kitkat same error.
Being the camera the only broken/faulty hardware, I decided to by a new one.
No luck again...
Is there anything I am missing? Is it ever possible I'm the only one with this problem?
What would you do to investigate/solve this issue? Can you please help me
at least pointing me where to look for a solution?
For the moment I'm back to this firmware. Before wiping and trying something different
I thought I could ask to your advice
Model SM-N9005
Model name GALAXY Note 3
Country Singapore (XSP)
Version Android 4.4.2
PDA N9005DXUGNK1
CSC N9005OLCGNH1
Thanks for your time!
Hi, first post here. Installed TWRP and upgraded my wifes phone to LineageOS 16. Most things are working well, but the menu key is constantly activating without a key press. I'm a networking guy by trade and phone fiddling not really my strong point. My Google Fu always seems to fail me in situations like this too.
Any ideas? There's also an issue with Bluetooth which constantly crashes if used. Do I need to raise a new thread for that?
The phone itself is a UK version, so that's also a bit confusing when there's builds offered for AT&T, Sprint, Verizon etc. Also I've not upgraded further past this nightly build. Should I try this? Am I right in that the process should be to wipe only system partition then apply the upgrade?
Cheers.
Oh if you need me to post any further details about phone or whatever just shout and I'll get on it.
Reads as you may have installed for the wrong phone model .
I don't think so. The options presented to me over at download.lineageos.org were;
Galaxy Note 3 LTE (N9005/P) hlte
Galaxy Note 3 LTE (N9008V) hltechn
Galaxy Note 3 LTE (N900K/L/S) hltekor
Galaxy Note 3 LTE (N900T/V/W8) hltetmo
The phone model number is SM-N9005 and so the specific image I installed, after a full backup and full wipe is;
lineage-16.0-20200905-nightly-hlte-signed.zip
Non xda rom suggest you go back to the source .
Is there another rom that anyone could recommend?
