You might have already figured out that HD2 can be overclocked as high as 1.5 GHz on its powerful Qualcomm SnapDragon Processor. Many people run their devices on default clock speed, but there are few of us who overclock their devices to get max out of it. So i have started this thread to know what your max clock speed is and what governer are you using. Post replies below. Also, don't forget to mention your Phone's Temperature if available.
Mine: 1.2 GHz On SmartAss Governer , Temperature Usually Around 95F

1305MHz using interactive, temp alway @ 28°C even when phone get hot?? tho alway careful to let it cool down when it feels too hot.
I have underclocked ... to 720Mhz (interactive)
Performance is okay and saves battery live
Temperature is about 28 celcius.
1267, 768 when battery less than 30%, 422 when screen is off
On-demand w/screen on, conservative when <30% and screen off
Not great on battery, but good performance an no wake lag
CPU Load jump or whatever it is, set to 30%
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Sticks with no overclock
using a rom which is fast enough and saves battery life, Dont see a point that needed to overclock CPU
Undervolted to 576mhz, for better battery life.
Runs smooth enough for all apps, including navigation and games
No overclock for me, don't need it, phone is fast enough as it is.
Clock speed: 998mhz (default), governor: ondemand, temp: n/a
Good enough for me sweet onough on may battery.
P.s. there seems to be no difference(performance wise) between rafpigna kernel oc'd @1.5ghz and tytung kernel oc'd @1.2ghz, when testing on linpack and/or other smarbench tools
Im looking for stable undervolt settings I have currently mine set at
1600 Mhz - 1400 Mv
1400 " - 1300 "
1200 " - 1250 "
1000 " - 1175 "
800 " - 1050 "
500 " 950 "
200 " - 850 "
100 " - 825 "
My settings are stable but maybe someone can put out where I can still undervolt and retaining stability.
Im using stock + Siyah Kernel.
I'm not trying to be rude, but it's a bit useless since not every devices can handle the same settings...
And of course you can still undervolt. You will find YOUR best settings when you're at the lowest values and your phone is still stable. If you're going too low, you'll have to reboot the phone and set the voltage a bit higher.
But if you want an idea, mine is running rock solid with these settings :
100MHz @ 825mV
200MHz @ 825mV
500MHz @ 850mV
800MHz @ 950mV
1000MHz @ 1050mV
1200MHz @ 1150mV
I'm also on stock KI8 + Siyah 2.0b6
Keep trying by 25mV
Siyah Kernel
Cognition 1.5.1
100Mhz @ 775mV
200Mhz @ 800mV
500Mhz @ 825mV
800Mhz @ 950mV
1000Mhz @ 1050mV
1200Mhz @ 1150mV
1400Mhz @ 1275mV
1600Mhz @ 1350mV

Question:
Do you set governor from 100 to 1600mhz or standard 1200?

CPU stress test in setcpu is a goodone. USing the two cores completely for testing, most of the games make use of GPU a lot and some CPU, so playing games alone wont help you in testing the stability.

it depends on your CPU . every CPU has different quality: some cam go up to 900 mHz and some do freeze even at 806 mHz. Julst test it out but remember not to set the frequency at boot ^^
e.g i could go up to 880 mHz with .29 kernel (old mur4ik ROMs) for a few hours.
wih .32 kernel (PCFighter v5) 825 was the maximum
EDIT: smartass v2 is best governor for me
I Thought SmartassV2 was a battery saving governor ?
my quadrant score with REVO is always better on ondemand
@ 806mhz

for me smartass2 is best governor and my max cpu frequencu 729MHz, i use SDSL pre-Final, score in quadrant is 1259, and sometimes i oc it to 806MHz, then quadrant score is 1432, on same rom.
Smartassv2 is undoubtedly the best governor, my frecuencies are: min 245mhz and max 768mhz..
Antutu benchmark give me 1932
For me Smartassv2 is the best and my frequency is: min245 and max 806.
Smartassv2.
Min: 122
Max: 806
SmartassV2 with SIO, @122/600 daily use, Performance @245/852 for bench.
Freezes @ 864mhz
I use Smartassv2 min245 and max 729
It's the best for me, also best results with native freq.
Guys,
Everybody talks about "huge" Quadrant numbers...like >1400 points with similar settings I have.
I get 1060 points with SmartAssV2, CPU Min 245, MAX 729, JIT ON, CompCache OFF, VM size 32.
Can it mean that my CPU is "weaker" then others?
Thanks.
Every cpu is diferent, mine go max to 787 and give 1389 on quadrant, at 729 smartassv2 i get 1193 on quadrant.
Sent using Tt.
@tempo
yeah mines is getting very weak too i used to get to 1500 for quadrant but now its very low like yours no matter how i set it.......
my cpu can no longer score above 3000................ ZZZZZ OMG next signing of contract is in may OMG

SmartassV2 gives lower scores.
Try with Performance governor, 245/~800mhz,u'll get an higher score
just wondering, where can i get smartass v2? would like to try it, but cant find it. or is it in the cyanogenmod settings of the rom?

If you use performance it will always scale the highest possible eg 806 so it wastes very much battery

Yeah,it's in Cyanogenmod Settings Go to Performance > Cpu Settings (mine is in italian, don't know if it's the right name)
You'll find, on the first option, the available governors.

The CPU frequency depends on how much your chipset can handle ( mine can handle up to 806 Mhz with Alfs and 787 Mhz with nAa). for the governor select smartassv2 i think its the best
Yeah, i have the same however i have OC just 768. Let me chck if i can increase

I think that this kind of question is very individual (cause depends of phone).
For me, SmartASS consumes 2x more battery than Ondemand. (dont know why)
Forma me 19-712Mhz

Cpu frequency? For me its 724MHz. Any higher and my phone reboots
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
i can go up to 800mhz and more
but when i set to 860mhz my phone rebooted
For me its 787mhz with Naa Kernal and Smartass V2 governor.
for me 245-748mhz is stable with smartass v2
using cm7.2v9+alfs ics v7
Thank to @DooMLoRD, we have a powerful customized kernel allowing to improve the user experience with our Z2.
Current version: DooMKernel (v11)
This is the place to share and to discuss about our settings (allowed by DooMKernel). Please don't flood the kernel thread with such information, the right place is here.
First, it must be emphasized that the best tools to enable and tune the settings allowed by DooMKernel are:
- Fauxclock
- FauxSound
However, you can use others tools (such as Pimp my Z1, ...) and your feedback using these alternate tools will be welcome.
Currently, I use these Fauxclock settings (Updated sections in red - 13 Oct 2014):
- CPU Clock:
Min freq.: 300 MHz
Max freq.: 2.458 GHz (overclocked, see FAQ in post #2 for enabling overclocking permanently)
Governor: Intelliactive
- CPU Hotplug: Intelliplug - Profile: balanced - Touch boost enabled, or mpdecision for better perf. (see FAQ in post #2)
Intelliactive + Intelliplug = good performances +, very good battery life +++
Intelliactive + mpdecision = good performances ++, good battery life ++
Lagfree + mpdecision = very good performances +++, good battery life +
- Voltage tuning: -12 mV
Beyond this value, my device crashes (not necessarily the same for all devices). Stability can be tested with StabilityTest or Antutu benchmark.
Reducing the Votage is interesting for power saving and thermal management.
From a few reports, you could be 100% stable up to -48 mV.
- Thermal manager: Intellithermal (recommended by Faux)
Better than Thermald for 4K recording (look at my tests here)
Temperature threshold freq.: 70°C (158°F)
Temperature threshold core: 80°C (176°F)
- GPU manager: msm-adreno-tz - 578 MHz
Try these settings for great GPU performance!! And please give feedback.
- Sheduler I/O (eMMC & SDCard): row
- Readahead size (eMMC & SDCard): eMMC: 2048 - SD: 4096
- Colour / Gamma: not tested
- Memory manager:
VFS cache enabled
Automatic mode for writeback delay: enabled
- Same Page Merge: Intelli-KSM enabled
- FastCharge:
Battery Temperature Throttling: on
Battery throttle cpu frequency: 2457600
Fastcharge options: disabled - not tested
Currently, I use these FauxSound settings:
- Preset Profile: Quality
- Speaker gain: does not work
That's all. All is working perfect for me.
Compared to stock settings, about 2000 points are won on the Antutu Benchmark Score.
These settings will be updated and discussed in this post from your future reports.
FAQ:
- How to enable CPU overclocking permanently ?
Open Fauxclock,
go to fastcharge,
enable "Battery temperature throttling"
search "Battery throttle cpu frequency" & set it there up to "2457600",
activate "set on boot",
go back to cpu/hotplug,
set cpu at max,
and reboot.
Thanks to @MysticEnforcer for this tip.
- You experience lags listening eXistenZ modded Walman+sound enhancements ?
Use CPU hotplug mpdecision.

I was nearly stable at -36 mV with a rare random reboot here or there. Now, it's seems I'm 100% stable at -24 mV and I saw elsewhere that another user was stable at -48 mV. No luck for me... Anyway, all that confirms that each device behaves differently.

If you want to get rid of micro stutter, try using one of the following cpu governors:
Lagfree, Smartass V2 or Lionheart
Games, launchers, Chrome etc. became much more responsive since I've switched.

No, didn't modify them.
There are laggy governors like: Ondemand, Interactive, Conservative, Intellidemand etc. and fast ones: Performance (no good solution), Lionheart, Smartass V2, Lagfree.
Just try it. Made my phone fly. Games like Temple Run Oz and Asphalt 8, which were unplayable before are working fine since I've using another governor (currently Lionheart). Feels like a Nexus 5 or HTC M8 now. Much better than stock!
Thanks for your great work!

I think I'll share my settings. This is not for those who expect ultimate power from their Z2's. I'm not a gamer, so this settings are for browsing the web and focused on battery performance.
Here we go:
Underclocked to 1728 ghz, governor intelliactive
CPU Hotplug: mpdecision (there's nothing we can do about that )
Voltage: -24 mV
Thermal: Intellithermal, frequency throttle 70 C, Core throttle: 65 C, all cores throttled
GPU: msm-adreno-tz 578 mhz, gpu rendering: on
I/O Schedulers: SIO for internal and external, cache 1024
Memory manager: Clear VFS cache after boot, rest on stock
Same Page merge: Intelli-KSM enabled
Low Memory Kill: why do i need those with 3gigs of ram?
FastCharge: Battery throttling: throttle at 50 C of bettery - throttle to 1267200
Battery lasts from 7am to 10pm with heavy use - 40% left. Stamina mode on all the time. Screen with auto brightness.
I'm using fauxClock. Smooth UI, fast browsing, no stuttering, fullhd camera works like charm. I'm not using 4k recoding and I haven't tested it.
Stable at -60 mv..

@DooMLoRD
I've done several tests comparing different governors in term of power consumption. My screen was off and I was listening to music with Walkman.
Results (discharging rates):
Intelliactive: -2%/h
Lagfree: -3%/h
Lionheart: -4%/h
Smartass v2: -12%/h (big issue: freq. always at max)
So, Lagfree and Lionheart are probably more performant than Intelliactive (based on Ondemand) and more suitable for gamers but they are far more power hungry. So, this must be considered before choosing a governor.
There is patently an issue with Smartass v2.

Have seen the same, Smartass V2 is buggy and keeps the frequency at maximum (just like performance governor does).
Lagfree seems to be the best compromise, it works pretty well in games.

I think that Interactive should be good for games and not too power hungry. However, presently, it seems incorrectly parametirized: using it, I can hear few scratching noises listening to music in Walkman (and also with Ondemand)!! I'll see what I can do.
