Not really, device tree for N9 is extremely similar to mine. Plus it currently has forced encryption.
Installed latest nightly with ElementalX kernel and everything looks good. I like the Expanded Desktop view to maximize viewing screen. Moreover, the options on launcher to show big icons is a plus.
What gapps do they recommend?

How's the performance of CM12 compared to stock? It made a HUGE difference on the 2012 Nexus 7, so curious if the same on the N9.
Yes, I am also interested to know about the performance and, especially, battery life benefits of CM12 on our Nexus 9. I am refraining from rooting my 5.0.1 stock for the moment hoping that 5.1 finally adresses the governor "issue" in order to get better battery life and less hiccups out of this thing while browsing, but if CM12 delivers already, I might just go all the way and install it right now.

Same here, don't want to reset my tablet for every new rom, but if CM12 offers better performance/smoother experience/better battery I'm willing to switch roms again. Otherwise waiting for 5.1 to be released...
There are sound bugs that the clicking volume like keyboard can't be lowered. Charging is very slow. Performance is comparable or slightly slower than stock Rom.

this,right here.
The charging isnt even just slow, its eratic honestly. if i use a 1.2 amp charger it takes over 13 hours to charge. using a 1.8 amp one reduces it to around 8 hours.
Its stable and all, but the charging issue, thats the reason i've decided to go back to stock rom.

Which ROM do you feel works the best for your Vibrant? Of course this is a matter of opinion, which is exactly what I want to hear. I'm running CM 10.1.3 right now and enjoying it. At times it can feel a little bit sluggish but I don't know if it's the ROM or my phone. I'd also be interested in hearing about your experiences with battery life in each ROM. I've been thinking of trying CyanAOSP because it's less cluttered and I have a hunch it would be more snappy.
Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules, I just wanted a really recent thread comparing the strengths and weaknesses of all the recent Jellybean ROMs. This isn't a question thread, it's more of an opinion thread.
I'm using CM10.2 build date - 10/15 for a day now. Have no problems. Everything works fine, including GPS after ds. Battery drain is normal.

DS is DeepSleep. Its a state in which the phone uses minimal battery and thus the battery is saved.

If you mean the official CM 10.1.3, yes I tried it. It is stable and smooth. You can use it as a daily driver.

I just saw that you were using CyanAOSP. How would you compare it to CM 10.1.3 and 10.2?
Also, do you know where I can get the 1.75 ROM? I've heard the 2.0 has problems.
been running cyanaosp 2.0 since its release and its been fine beside a few random reboots, but im sure it was cause i had my device oc'd to high. this rom is perfect for me as i play alot of games.
Hi all,
New member of the forums, but I've been reading as much as I can about my Vibrant (Fascinate?) and I'm still kind of confused as to which model my phone really is. It's a Telus model sgh-t959d, but after flashing CyanAOSP 3.0.0 for the i9000, my phone info shows model GT-i9000. I understand there are similarities between these devices, but I was a little nervous about bricking my phone by flashing the wrong ROM. Well, it was a painless process that took less than 2 minutes! I upgraded from PassionICS, which was a good ROM, but kind of laggy. After a day of use, I can say CyanAOSP is much quicker, more refined and more fun to use. The customizations offered by Nova launcher are quite extensive and make it feel like a new phone. I highly recommend this ROM! Many thanks to the hard working devs!
Anybody have kernel recommendations to get more battery life out of CM 10.1 or 2?
CM
Im using CM 10.1.3 stable, think this is a best and stable ROM
I was using one of the CM 10.2 nightlies (10/25 specifically) for about a week before giving up on some serious battery drain and background android OS data usage issues... First time I ever exceeded my 5gig threshold pushing me down to slower speeds. Also USB data transfer simply stopped working after about a week... couldn't even mount via recovery.
Ultimately had to get new ROM files into my phone via the microSD/USB adapter and internally transferring to the internal directory.
That said, CM 10.2 itself is a very pleasant experience if you can avoid such issues - In hindsight I'd strongly suggest giving it a try but with a build that's known to be stable and without any such major issues if you intend to use it as a daily driver (the 10/15 build has been recommended more than once in my forum trawling). Lesson learned!
I made the switch last Saturday (6 days ago) to SlimBean Build 2 however, which is also based on 4.3.1. By comparison to my last experience, this has zero issues falling back to deep sleep, even after loading it down with all my favorite apps and sync settings. I've had one random reset to recovery in the middle of a phone call, and gps performance has been hit or miss so far, but otherwise there's a lot to like! Battery is back to respectable charging intervals and background data is in check. ROM itself is very zippy. Lock screen by comparison to CM 10.2 seems slightly sluggish to respond. I'll likely be sticking with this for a while.
I installed the new official rom v50020a and are disappointed with performance especially in games. That performance was superior v18a. This rom seemed to me the most powerful than all roms, since the battery is emptied very quickly, especially in stand by. In AnTuTu benchmark 18a give almost 27,000 and v20a less than 24,000. In Real Racing 3 feel the difference. V50020a is final rom for OTA? Performance and battery worse than the first official rom. I think I'll go back to 4.2.2.

If the v18a was superior, why not go back to it instead?
The problem is that the rom v18 of battery empties very quickly in standby. I have to install a custom rom based on v18 with another kernel.

What do you call 'very quickly'? I found it emptied slower than with 4.2.2 in standby with WiFi on.
I set the wi-fi to be turned off when the tablet is in stand by. It is among the settings after installing a new rom.

I don't, but that is not my point. What do you call losing charge very quickly?
I overdid it a little with unloading the battery. Battery runs exactly I was wi-fi settings on standby.
I had it for a few days but battery use seemed as normal.

I reinstalt v18a and battery works normally stand by.

Did you notice any difference on the screen brightness, gamma values and 7 spots on the bottom?
Jessooca said:
The battery life is actually better,by nearly 2 hours. I have tested and ran it for 5 days, it's all about your settings. If you have the screen on 50% one day or 65% another day it's always going to fluctuate.
Theres no complaints about the battery life with 18 here, easily I get 2 hours more. Some days 4.

The fix for Watching Amazon Prime is in a thread by, i believe it was Surviveland....
Make sure that you have UNinstalled the flash player installed in your device if you have one installed first and then install the hacked one for compatibility reason.
1) Download Dolphin Browser from the Play Store
[/B]You MUST have Dolphin Jetpack on in the settings to enjoy it.
As far as I have noticed, Dolphin Jetpack better solves the compatibility with flash player, such as crash issue & freeze issue in full screen.
2) Download the hacked flash player HERE: http://goo.gl/MuU9SU
If your device refused to install apk outside Google Play, you need to change your settings in your device (Settings> Securities> Unknown resources) to allow installation of apps from unknown sources.
3) Make sure that the flash setting in Dolphin Browser (Click Menu>Settings>Web Content>Flash Player) is on.

I was gonna put it on AOSP 4.4.4, and then get tablet-kat. I'm excited, Any rom recommendations? problems or specifics I can expect with a refurbed N10? The seller had good ratings so I took the plunge.
For a rom recommendation I want:
Battery life
Okay speed
Stable-ish (No random freezes and reboots, plz no sound g;itches)
I flashed RemixOS on mine a year ago or two I can't remember and still rocking it. Perfect for multitasking as watching twitch or something else in the background and reading Reddit over it etc. Only crashes sometimes on YouTube while switching video quality but that happened almost on every time I tried before. I definitely recommend it.

It's very stable.
Anyway, I'd also go for Omni 7. It's very stable, great battery life. Camera does not work tho. If you really need it, I'd suggest Omni 6. It's like stock AOSP but with montly security updates.
I am currently on Stock Nougat firmware and have been thinking of switching to Los but still undecided.
Can someone tell me how do the battery lives compare between the two?
What are the main reasons that people move to Lineage? When I used phones from LG, Samsung, HTC, I moved to custom roms to escape from the bloat wares. On Essential phone, I don't see much push factors. I'm, in fact, quite happy on Stock but of course, I haven't seen the good things with using custom roms such as Lineage yet and I hope you guys can tell me more..
We are in the same boat. I haven't been getting great battery life on stock, and I've had bouts of os freezing and unresponsiveness thats made me consider rooting. But my main reason for not rooting and going custom is losing the stock camera.
LOS is a very bare bones minimal options Rom, but a very good alternative to stock. You are not gonna be wowed with all the options in LOS, as there aren't many. It's not much different than Vanilla Android really. If you want a lot of options like Dirty Unicorns Smartbar/Fling customizable Navbar, you're going to want to flash a ROM that has it like Resurrection Remix (only a Nougat version for now). I haven't flashed any of the new Oreo ROMs like AOSIP yet, so I haven't checked to see how many features they have, but Resurrection Remix is running flawless on my PH1, and it has more options than any Rom out there. The only way to find out if it's for u is to flash some ROMs and try them out. Unfortunately, on this phone, a lot of Rom flashes require u to wipe ur entire phone, so it's a bit more of a hassle. Just make sure to back up all the things u don't wanna lose.
thanks @teostar and @Airwolf79!
How's Lineage's battery life compared to Stock?

I saw somewhere that I can get apps to become full-screen on Lineage. Is that true?

In my experience, no custom ROM I've tried has had equal battery life to stock. They haven't been bad either, but they have all been smoother with a lot less screen jitter. I think they all provide full screen immersive mode, at least I know LOS and RR do.
Thank you! Now it is clearer for me. It is a trade-off between UX and battery life.

essential stock is fine but i'm rather use scrubber gcam which is more fast and with better portrait mode ?
using lineage and stock roms (beta) i really dont notice any day to day difference in battery consumption. If you are looking to improve battery life from stock then you might want to consider using custom kernels instead; they typically have more customization around battery life through governer tweaks underclocking under volting etc.
Just to update that I finally unlocked my bootloader to try LOS this morning. It was total disaster for me.
Firstly I haven't done this for a long time. Secondly I was not familiar with devices with a/b partition. Thirdly, I depend on Google's back up to restore my apps but, for some unknown reason, play store does not restore well in LOS.
Took me 4 hours and in the end I went back to Oreo B3. Still and upgrade from my stock Nougat.

LOS is better in smoothness for me while stock has slightly better battery. As for stability, I think they are about the same. I have been fully on LOS since then as I like the features on LOS, such as ambient display, immersive mode and there has been no reason to go back.
RR is the best so far imo

What is the recommend ROM the community suggests to be running on a Nexus 6P in 2021?
All CPU cores are intact and phone is working like new after replacing the battery.
I was hoping to freshen up the dated Stock 8.1 ROM even tho it is rooted and whatnot its kinda feeling a bit old and slow
Also keep in mind that this is my "daily driver" so to speak so nothing to experimental / unreliable
Thanks in advance
removed, see below
Would love to know as well?
I had "AOSiP 11 Ravioli for N6P", which was Android 11, but not running that well.
Now running ResurrectionRemixOS, but it is also laggy as soon as my RAM is full (which happens very fast).
Any good suggestions?
Do I need to go back to Android 9 to have a lagfree experience?

I've tried all available ROMs ever released for 6p, from 6.0 all the way to 11. Nothing beats Stock oreo + Elemental X kernel (unrooted) i repeat unrooted! i know i've been a root user since SuperSU cyno days but i just noticed that installing magisk make my phone sluggish. I got to sacrifice on emoji fonts mod i've been using for years, but this is the conclusion i reached. This is my personal experience, Others may vary.

The current ROM I'm running and absolutely love the battery life/performance as this device is strictly on WiFi for Spotify/Netflix/Hulu, Location and NFC on for Coin XYO app, and for camera use.
