Xposed and Safestrap on Lollipop?

I recently upgraded today from 4.4.2 to 5.0 OC4 and kept root using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...0-keeproot-t3068546/post59791648#post59791648
However, I had no Idea it would be so hard (impossible?) to get xposed back. Is there any way in which I could install xposed ARM without having a custom recovery on my verizon G900V running lollipop?
I also read an article on another website that said you can flash safestrap with odin, go into safestrap, install anything necessary, and then reflash current ROM? I am not TOO knowledgable with all of this, however I have found my way around all this enough to ensure myself root and all needed features. Any help or information would be amazing.

I was considering flashing the xposed ARM file with flashfire, however I read someone else was stuck in a bootloop who tried this. Would this not work? Is there any method? I was also looking into flash gordon which lets you flash .zip files without requiring custom recovery. Thanks!

It seems as if its possible, however this thread is for the OC3 version, while I flashed the OC4... Anyone out there done anything like this before, or knows how to provide the needed steps? Thanks again.

Go to the xposed thread and read any comment at all. It doesn't work on touchwiz based lollipop architecture. PERIOD. you didn't need a new thread in this forum to learn that...

I see, is there some way that I could downgrade. I've been looking into that for awhile now to go back to my 4.4.2 but there's a ton of methods and I am not sure which is required for my device. I canno't seem to find a specific method for my g900v s5. Thanks for you're reply, and I hope I can downgrade.

You can go up and down as often as you like. I would Odin the NCG tar from the link below and reroot.
You probably still have safestrap. You could try this first. Go to download mode and Odin the NE9 kernel. When your phone starts booting up you should see the safestrap option to boot into recovery. Boot into recovery, install a rooted NE9 ROM of your choice. Boot back into download mode via safestrap and Odin the NE9 firmware. Let your phone boot all the way up and you should be good to go. Use NCG kernels and firmware-roms if you would rather be on NGC.

If safestrap doesn't show up, Odin the full NCG tar file and reroot your phone.

Thanks so much for your help, the only problem is I never installed safestrap on my phone. So I do not currently have safe strap, or any custom recovery. So i can just use the odin method then, correct?

Yes, sir. That would be correct. Since you are rooted, there is an app called Flashfire you could use that doesn't even require a computer but if you are familiar with Odin that is a good way to go as well.

I have flashfire installed, in fact I used it to upgrade to lollipop. What settings should I use with flashfire to downgrade to lollipop? Do i have to clear cache or anything? What ROM do you want to have on your phone?

Just a normal stock 4.4.2 ROM works fine for me.

Download this ROM onto your SD card. I prefer deodex

In Flashfire, select firmware and navigate to your firmware. Just check boot and recovery
Next select zip-ota, navigate to your ROM. Leave auto mount unchecked.
Select firmware again. This time check boot, recovery, modem, and firmware. Flashfire will ask if you want them in separate zips. Click yes
Now select wipe. Check everything but SD card.
Now arrange everything in this order
Wipe
Firmware-boot recovery
Zip-rom
Firmware modem firmware
Firmware-boot recovery
Ever root- inject supersu
Boot normal
That should do it. You should be rooted on 4.4.2

Thanks so much! It worked perfectly! I had a problem initially after installing towelroot and xposed and got an error when rebooting the phone called "Process system isn't responding". My phone kept freezing and was super slow because of this. I believe it was due to me restoring contacts from titanium backup. I restored the contacts system app as a whole. I didn't realize that at the time however, and just system restored my phone again, and did everything the same yet didn't restore my contacts, and the message is now gone. I am not running root with xposed on 4.4.2. Your amazing!

Is this the correct way to get the root on N910F 5.1.1?

I'm a new user of this phone and i'm pretty disappointed on some point... But first of all i'm disappointed because i can't get a root wihout trip knox and so bye bye warranty.

1. Open Odin and check on PDA or AP
2. put the phone in Download Mode
3. flash the recovery TWRP, downloaded from this link
Once I'm inside the recovery:
4. Install the kernel (I hope that enforced kernel is best choice) "N910F-Stock_Kernel_XXU1COH4_Root_Enforced-PhilZ.zip" that i download from here and I found on this thread by Phil3759

- without flash TWRP, can I flash by odin directly same kernel that i post (just .tar version)?

youll find on the botom, there is a cwm philz version to flash..
i dont think you can flash the kernel without recovery first, but youll need the recovery for roms and others stuff too, so just use odi and flash it.. i rooted my note 4 a few days ago too, im running stock rom, is the best..
and yes i think it will trip as soon as you flash the kernel and recovery..

How to flash prerooted ROM to new android 5 device without root and keep knox 0x0?

Hi all,
I want to install ROM by _alexndr on a new G900F. I want to keep KNOX 0x0, so I need root to flash this ROM using flashfire.
However, the device came with android 5 when I bought it, so towelroot does not work. If I understood correctly, I have to flash stock 4.4.2 firmware (where do I get it? which tool to use for flashing? Just flash, or other things to take care of?), then I can use towelroot and flash ROM by _alexndr with flashfire. Did I miss anything important?

Get the ROM and ODIN the flashing tool from sammobile .com firmware section
Instructions under the download (Free account might be needed to download the ROM)

Can I just flash the old 4.4.2 firmware over the current 5.0 firmware, or do I have to consider something else?

I've flashed KK over LP before, and first boot didn't boot, flashed it again the same way, and it booted fine
Might need to factory reset before/after flashing if you have problems

Root process for SM-A300FU

I just got an A300FU, and would like to know a few details about how to root it, basically: do I have to root it first, and then update it to Lollipop?
I take it, while on 4.4.4, CF Auto-Root should work just fine, but what after that? Can I use Samsung's software update app to download Lollipop? If not, does it have to be flashed with Odin?

There are numerous ways. If you are rooted, and lose know fuse warranty, then you might as well do a proper job.
The way i prefer to root is through a Customer Recovery. Flashing preferably TWRP, will allow you to flash the latest SuperSU package, or it will ask you to root with any older version from it's ability to detect root access.
I am not aware nor informed of any root method keeping knox 0x0 as i never bothered with it.

Yeah, I know that, but what I'm asking is, whether to root first, while I'm on KitKat, and then update to Lollipop (and if that's possible after rooting), or root it after updating to Lollipop.

I suppose you dont give a damn about Knox? Good.
You should flash Lollipop first, as it features a newer Modem and Bootloader, unfortunately we dont know the changes, but they can add to things like better battery life, better signal.
so, download any latest Stock ROM, if you are branded (Carrier) then choose a branded rom as it has a hidden partition which doesnt match with the Unbranded ones. You can tell if it's branded as sites that keep firmware information put the Carrier on brackets, look here i.e for A300FU, just hover over the Region value.
The latest Unbranded firmware is A300FUXXU1BOL3 CYV (Cyprus), there are loads of Branded OL3 as well.
After you do all this, flash TWRP, flash SuperSU. and your set.

Nah, Knox doesn't really matter all that much.
So, I have my A3, currently on 4.4.4. I go download the firmware you linked, flash it using Odin, and then flash TWRP, through Odin as well.
I don't know. I feel like there's something I'm missing... don't I have to flash CF Auto-root before SuperSU?
Also, sorry for bothering, but are there any other place to download the firmwares? The one in the link originally said it would take ~5 hours, but then failed twice already.

Exactly, the Stock ROM will update the overall stuff, the TWRP will replace the Recovery. The TWRP is actually optional, it's up to you if you want a custom recovery, personally it makes things easier.

CF Auto-Root, it's the only (easy) way to have root without touching the Recovery. If you have TWRP, no need to go for CF Auto-Root, instead you just flash the SuperSU.
Just so you know, CF Auto-Root and SuperSU are made by the same person, and CF Auto-Root includes SuperSU, thats why you dont need it if you have a custom recovery.

you can use sammobile, it offers a bit extra speed if you register.

Kingroot works on lolipop (5.02) without triggering knox. I successfully rooted my phone (simple: I downloaded apk, install, root).

Personally, i'd trust rooting only what contains SuperSU.
Kingo has its own manager and desktop software which make it very uncomfortable to use.
Fairly though, it's the only non-knox flipping root method

The roms are on the Original Dev and Developer boards. That's exactly where you'll find TWRP too (just search A300FU and A3FU on these boards and you'll have a view of your options).
And flash SuperSU in twrp for root.

I dont like/trust any other rooting method except SuperSU.
1. Flash TWRP.tar with odin, make sure you untick auto-reboot on odin, as it will reflash the stock recovery.
2. Flash SuperSU.zip in TWRP.
DONE.

How can I reboot to recovery with buttons?
When should I flash a basic ROM and gapps?
Which one would you suggest, considering that she does not expect additional weird functions but just a rom (at least 5.1) without bloatware and other heavy stuff to load

ROM and gapps are up to you, there are a few of AOSP options you can choose.
To flash TWRP through odin, use vol down + home + power
To boot to recovery (twrp), vol up + home + power.

rooting i9505 with XXUPPI1

is there any chance to root my S4 with the i9505XXUPPI1 version installed on it Or is there any other Way to Downgrade it to an earlier version and root it thereafter?

You could try cfautoroot or flash TWRP and then flash supersu from TWRP.

CF-Auto-Root is your best option.

For all i9505 Users with the same Problem ..
First i've flashed the original I9505XXUHOJ2 Firmware who listed on chainfire's Page, to be on the safe way =). Then i've flashed the cf-root Kernel from Chainfire. After that i installed the newest TWRP recovery and then the Resurrection Remix Rom 5.5.9.
Now i will test everything but seems to be nice till this moment =)

True. But some people (including me) have had problems getting TWRP to stick with the Odin install.
I had to use an app to flash it when I took to the custom software world.
A user had the same problem few days ago. Also solved it with the app method.

I've never had a problem with getting TWRP or CWM to stick on the s2, s3, s4, note 1, note 2, or note 3 by unchecking auto reboot in Odin before flashing recovery. Once recovery has been flashed, I remove the battery and immediately boot into recovery. I found that not booting into recovery right after flashing will cause the stock recovery to overwrite the custom recovery when the phone boots normally.

Thats right. But in my case and first of all i wanted to test the stock rom with only root Access. But then i decided to install a custom one very quickly =)
After all i installed latest twrp via twrp-app, backed up everything, perform a full wipe and flashed ResurrectionRemix 5.5.9. Now i went to dirty unicorn rom on Android 6.0 base. Very nice performance, very clear Design and absolutely stable.
One more word to overriding the Recovery. In many other Posts, this Problem seems to be normal, if the S4 was already updatet to an official lollipop rom(with the new knox Bootloader, that verifies signatures of recovery and kernel) in the past. I think this issue was not present with kitkat and oder versions.
But with my little detour, i also was not effected from that override
Hope this can help others with similiar reservations who i had before. Not the fear of loosing warranty(because phone is anyway too old) but fear of tripping the bad eFuse and thus hardbricking the phone. BUT WELL DONE !!!

There is no eFuse that will hard-brick the S4.
It only has an eFuse for Knox, which simply prevents you from resetting the Knox counter back to 0x0, but it won't hard-brick anything.
