Hi all......no idea what's going on or how to solve this, but I seem to have lost the long press function (menu popup) for the recent apps capacitive button.......
This is really annoying because the XDA app and Nova launcher both use this functionality.....
Short press still brings up recents, but the long press does nothing other than make the phone vibrate a couple of times........
Anybody have any ideas why this is happening or what I can check/do about it?
Googling doesn't help, nor does the xposed module MenuBeGone (yes, I'm stock rooted with xposed correctly installed).
Many thanks.....Keith
It's nothing I've modified......
None of my installed xposed modules have ANY control over it.
I've not modified anything in buildprop.
And nothing frozen with TiBu has any effect either......I defrosted everything, wiped cache and rebooted just to make sure........
I don't know what else to try......Short of Odin flashing back to unrooted, bloated stock........

What about factory reset?

I could try that, but it's almost as much a last resort as reflashing the firmware.
Apart from this one issue, I've got my phone customised and set up exactly how I want it, and factory resetting will kill all of that..........

Went the factory reset route in the end.....which worked.....ty.
Factory reset & reboot........5 minutes.
Initial setup......5 minutes.
Re-download and installation of apps....30 minutes.
Setting up all the tweaks, mods, customizations and debloating.....1.5 hours......
Such is life when you are limited by the stock recovery.........lol

Are you running Wanam to dissable staus on "stock" rom? (Not on the rom within the ss rom slot)

Yes I am running Wanam to disable the status on a stock rom.

There was a few of us in the main update thread this happened to.. wasn't because of safestrap for me but it seemed after reinstalling Adaway and doing some other /system stuff the icon and custom status came back and would not go away.. only thing I can suggest after uninstalling framework/wanam, reboot, reinstalling the framework, reboot, reinstall/toggle wanam, reboot, multiple times toggling the options in the app and rebooting (regular/ and soft reboot) it finally stuck for me dont know what it was that finally got it, but I feel your pain cause it pissed me off the past two days

Did everything you said must have rebooted my phone 20 times and I still have the custom icon driving me crazy.

What sucks is you know wanam is working because at least for me the notification mods were working like NFC icon removed and clock and stuff.. just the status wasnt sticking... took me forever but it did take eventually
I've done it like 30 times no luck. I think I'm just going to let it be.

This is not a troll question...
I've seen lots of folks worried about the "open lock" icon on boot. Why does this matter, unless you are requesting service/replacement of your device?
Is this a separate indicator from the Knox "0x0" that shows in download mode?

Exactly what you said, for warranty and also just OCD for some of us yes its seperate it shows in the Settings>Status screen as well as the boot screen instead of Official it will say "Custom" (Wanam removes the icon and sets the status to Official)
You don't have to uninstall.... just re-install the framework and it should be back up.

I'm running MK2 rooted and recently my phone stopped charging. I've tried everything to get it to work, I'm fairly certain it's a hardware failure. I know I can probably replace the connector myself, but I prefer warranty. I've backed up everything (via cloud) and now I want to restore to factory settings. I can't use ODIN because the problem also prevents me from connecting to a computer.
Is it safe to perform the phone's "Factory data reset". Will have restore to factory setup?
Thanks.

It should work just fine. Keep in mind the root binary is installed to system though so you might get custom flag for that.
I don't think factory reset works on rooted phones that have been encrypted.

I'm only rooted and haven't installed a custom recovery or custom rom. If I factory reset, can at&t tell my phone was once rooted?

Yes, the su binary will stay there and trip the custom flag. If you want to remove that, either download and flags the ODIN package for your system or use SuperSU to unroot.

Can't use ODIN, the USB port doesn't work. So, I un-rooted in SuperSU, restarted the phone, then performed the Factory Data Reset. Everything is now reset, the phone still doesn't charge, the USB port still doesn't work. However, now when I turn on the phone I get the "Custom" lock icon. Not sure what I did wrong. I guess I'll have to repair it myself now?

You might of still had busybox, or if you had frozen system apps or something. I'd say see if you can use towelroot real quick, install a busybox app, remove it, and then unroot again. You also need to remove safestrap if you ever had that. Before doing that, restart your phone a few times though, as sometimes it won't change immediately or will say custom after a fresh install.

I never installed Safestrap, but I did freeze a number of system apps using Titanium Backup and I never unfroze them before I did the unroot and factory reset. I also had Xposed framework and Wanam Xposed module still installed, which I now understand can cause issues.
What would you suggest I do to get rid of the "custom" lock? I've restarted the phone 6-7 times and the lock is still there. Would running Towelroot still work with my situation? Is there anything else I need to do before I unroot again, like unfreeze apps or revert the Wanam Xposed settings?
Thanks for you help.
Hey my s5 s health app stopped counting my steps, last recorts of it logs are from 30.11.2014.
I did try to get ps4 remote play to work and that involved removing superSU, could that be the reason why it stopped or what.
I tried to restore factory settings from settings, but only thing that it did was removing all my apps BUT it didn't even wipe my root?
I'm on latest stock rom with root and my knox **** is still on 0x0 state, that's why I haven't just install twrp or cwm recovery and restore my nandroid backup already.
How I can get that counter to work again? Weirdest thing is that s health seems to work, I can get my pulse and all other things too BUT not my steps.
All things that I managed to fish out of google was cases when that app was stopped completely, not like mine where everything seems to work but it doesn't count my steps at all.
Lockscreen and s health app both shows just 0 steps.

Sadly no, i had to reflash that stock rom again and do a full wipe of phone memory.
At least when i re rooted i could use titanium backup so it wasn't that painful experience, and I didn't need to format my internal or external sd-cards.
so after all that hassle only data loss that I had where those steps that it didn't counted, as for what caused this? Your guess is as good as mine.
Hey,
Thanks for responding. I actually resolved this. I ended up clearing all the data for both s health and s apps, updating both, and signing up with samsung for an account and poof, it started working.

Ok your solution seems to be better, my solution is like using nukes for mosquitos as it is bit aggressive for one app.
I have to remember your solution if this ever happens again.
Tmobile Note 4, rooted but with the stock ROM on it. Functions perfectly until a couple of days ago I get this odd stutter, the entire phone just freezes for a couple of seconds and I can't do anything, it does this every couple of minutes. I suspect an xposed module but I'm not sure. After freezing and uninstalling apps and even uninstalling xposed it still does it so I back everything up and do a factory reset from the settings menu.
Doing a factory reset from settings it just sits there saying it's powering down, it stays there forever and I cannot go back or close it, I can't even force power down with the power button. Only alternative is to pull the battery. The phone powers on normally, and all info is still there, so I can't factory reset this way.
Powering back up with vol up/power/home I can see the little android guy but this just flashes on and off forever so I cannot get into recovery to do a hard reset.
My last option is to reflash the stock ROM via Odin, but I'm at work now and was hoping to have a functional phone today. I'm not sure what went wrong, it's odd that I can't reset yet the phone functions perfectly apart from the stutter. I wonder if it's some kind of virus.
Crap I just realized if I can't get to download mode I can't flash via Odin. Anyone have any suggestions?

You need someone's help to insert battery, while inserting battery hold vol down plus home plus power, try.....
It is not a virus, xposed is the cause. I restored my nand I created when I first rooted, problem solved.
That odd stutter will eventually lead to a complete crash.

Wow, do you know if it's a specific module or xposed itself? I did uninstall it but still got the stutter.
I was able to get into download mode, while keeping the buttons pressed I plugged in the usb cable and for some reason download mode worked. I flashed stock NK4 then rooted, dirty flash though. I reinstalled xposed and everything ran perfectly smooth for a couple of hours, then it started stuttering again. I think my next move is a full wipe and reinstall stock NK4.
So did you stop using xposed altogether?
Hmm, going to try this: http://gs5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/f...hes-when-using-xposed-your-galaxy-s5-0157344/
I also read here and there that Xblast was the culprit. Uninstalled and haven't seen the freezing yet this morning.

No more xposed for me. I tried evening suggest in other threads, but the lack of s-health or privacy mode along with the freezing problems far outweighed the benefits.

That link seems to have done the trick. Running smoothly now with xposed installed and S-health opens up just fine.
The stutter for me tied in with s-health and health service, it can be blocked, but unless you do this first it'll cause issues, pull the battery, begin holding home and volume, then pop the battery in and then hold power, get into download mode and flash it
---------- Post added at 10:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:41 PM ----------
I moved around a bunch of roms and none of them worked, the issue just wouldn't go away, so I downgraded, rooted, installed a rom, then xposed and then the module to allow s-health
Folks,
I have used wanam exposed and changed few of my settings in my camera, dialer, browser, message and gallery. However, over constant apply of many settings, these apps become so buggy.
I have searched all over xda for restoring to stock from wanam exposed but all suggested to flash a stock rom. However, i flash the stock rom as my first option and would like to replace those apps with stock one to back to normal.
i am using SAMSUNG stock rom 4.4.2 and rooted with chainfire method. Completely stock without any changes.
Attaching the browser where the icon and layout are disordered and camera app - where the settings options are not available.
can you please share me the TouchWiz Camera/Dialer/Message/Browser/Gallery apks for me to restore to guys? Kindly share me please.
Did you uninstall Xposed and all the mods you used? If not, do so and reboot. The last time I used Xposed, after uninstalling it and rebooting the S4 returned to normal. However, if there is no change, you'll most likely have to do a factory reset in recovery. You'll lose all data, but you should have a clean slate afterward.

I'm on Android 5.x but the 4.4.2 apps won't help you here. Xposed by design is, if I recall correctly, not supposed to touch the app files when making changes, so something else is causing this. Flashing your stock ROM via Odin should resolve this.
Can anybody share me the stock touchwiz 4.4.2 stock browser, dialer, sms, gallery. Apks please..
