XDA app - Java for Android App Development

Is there a place here to file bug reports on the xda app? I am, for example, unable to update my email address with the app because of some sort of "isfacebooked" function(?) issue.

Hi,
Indeed there is such a thread for this:
For the tapatalk based XDA app here >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841646
For XDA One here >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/about-xda/alpha-official-xda-one-forum-app-t2899329

Power Management Apps and Gingerbread

Has anyone been able to get Tasker or Juice Defender or SuperPower or anything similar able to control mobile data and GPS on Gingerbread? Anyone have any insight as to why these apps don't work on 2.3? I'm assuming Gingerbread handles mobile data and GPS differently than Froyo?

Because the developers for those apps haven't optimized them for Gingerbread yet. Once they update them you will be able to use them.
...and it seem there's a bug in Gingerbread permission (or they enforce them ?).
Even you put "android.permission.MODIFY_PHONE_STATE" in your manifest for your app you won't be granted this permission, then you can't enable/disable directly mobile data .
It's really annoying ! If you look at the android docs there's no info about this modification in the permission management !
Hope this will be fixed soon (or a way to bypass that discovered).
...
I figured something must be up! Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I can open up an issue with Google?
At least i saw one issue reported :

Anyone who wants to see this resolved, click here and star the issue:

Thanks for the link Matt!
If you want there is a private beta which work very well in Gingerbread

I starred it, I also noticed a lot of pissed off devs in the comments. Some to the point where they quit and pulling their apps from the market, a lot of iOS comparisons too.

[Q] XDA App FC

Anyone else having constant force closes with the free XDA App. Not sure if its a HC issue, app issue or Acer issue. Hope its fixed soon its much easier to use than the full site.
I have had this issue with a few apps. Seems most are not quite honeycomb compatible yet.

XDA Pro crashes a lot on my A500 as well.
Works fine here, initially opens in portrait but then switches to landscape.
seems like it FC's only when i sign in, ive started using tapatalk, it works ok for xda-developers forums but its still dodgy, wont let me upload attachments etc

I'm in this state as well; I'm on a Nook Color running CM7, and the XDA app FCs if I look at any article after logging in. If I don't log in, I can view articles all I want.
The FC log entry shows that it's in xda-specific code, not in tapatalk itself.
The xda app seems to crash on a lot of tablet based devices... it did on my Archos and gtab.
Got fed up and paid for tapatalk pro and it works perfectly.

I went and bought the XDA premium app and have not had one FC on my tab nor my D1. Well worth the $1. The free app would not work at all with the favorites section on the tab.

Its not a tab issue, its a HC issue. For whatever reason, the free app isn't compatable with HC, but the paid app seems to be.

No, it's an Android problem. It has the same issue on 2.2 with the Viewsonic GTab and on my Samsung Galaxy S with 2.1. It's been known about for months, but XDA doesn't seem inclined to fix the free app. Go figure.
I only have FCs when I sign in. If I don't sign in no issues at all.
Usually FCs on me when I try to view a thread.
If they have known about this problem and done nothing about it it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in paying for the app.
In addition... This is a developers site and they cannot develop a stable app? That doesn't reflect well either.
I agree. I had this FC issue with my elocity A7, besides my A500. I purchased the premium and have not had this problem. I can even send reply, could not do that before with the free apk.

What's wrong with xda app

I know it was mentioned that xda app crashes on the iconia tab but this goes further. I can't access xda web site with browser too (can't find disable java ) and from my phone (epic) I don't see Q posts click-able underneath general post line like on pc, so from my tab can't access xda all.

I have had the web close like that on me before, but never consistently for a single site, and never on XDA :/ try this:
Settings> applications> manage applications> all> browser> clear data. No guarantees, but maybe it will fix it.
I think he's talking about xda app. It's a known issue on the free app.
**My mistake I just re-read the the question... no idea why the browser would be crashing for you on xda. Dolphin, Opera and OEM all work for me.
he gave no specifics in his original post, ie: which version of HC, what build, etc. No way to help him based on a question without pertinent info.

XDA app force close when I sign in to my account.

Anyone else? Thought the issue would go away after the update, but it still does it. FC's when I log in to my XDA account.
I get the exact samr problem- so I just use the web browser for 'real experience'.
However it is annoyong that the app crashes... Would not expect this for the xda devs.

would be nice if there was a tablet optimized version, like a split screen setup, threads on left, posts on right

And WTF is this?

I know this is probably more related to the actual FB app but I feel like it's a complete violation of privacy and I don't particularly want this happening but can not seem to find a setting to turn it off.. Here is a scenario where this would be completely out of place and unacceptable..
You take a picture of something private .. You or a friend gets your phone and opens the Facebook app... Oh look the last 3 pics you took.... Really? WTF? Anyone know how to turn this off?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Check settings. Turn off facebook sync photos.
Just using Facebook is violation of privacy. Even if you find away to turn it off that feature; Facebook is always sucking up information from your device (contacts, location, call logs, pictures, and so on). This is one of the reason I don't use Facebook.

That's definitely true... Makes me sad. I think in this issue though the most disturbing thing is that it's accessing another app (gallery) and then putting the 3 most recent pics in the app (suggesting) you post them. Who's to say their appropriate to post. I don't like this at all.

Guys, just get another app for Facebook. There's tons of apps that don't these extra permissions and don't steal your data, AND THEY RUN BETTER than the stock Facebook app. Example : fast for facebook (search it!)
