Hi all, I've recorded alot of my vidoes of my little one in 4k and I would like to easily share them in HD quality for my family to see, reason being is because the majority of my family have 1080p TVs or phones that don't support 4k playback.
Methods of already tried:
YouTube - I assumed YouTube would allow you to choose the quality, instead from the Android app it uploads at a measly low res.
Google Drive - Also uploads the video at a low res
I know that I can use a PC to downsize the file but it's too much hassle really.
Is the above possible at all, or shall I just stick to recording at 1080p??

Well that's weird, when I uploaded it this morning all I got was 340p as the highest res, now I've tried it again and it says highest is 1440p....weird.
Not realy. Google (youtube) needs to convert videos that may take time, especially 4k videos

when taping the resolution settings while streaming video on youtube it doesn't show also flashplayer 10.1 should support this , has nay one faced this issue i can't choose any setting rather than 360 p no more , no less
Why on earth would you want to watch 720p YouTube videos on a screen that isn't 720p?
The Android app doesn't support it because it generally errs on the side of lower quality due to generally slower cellular connections.
Flash Player on Android likely wouldn't play anything over 480p very well on Android, so even if you could, you likely wouldn't want to.
The problem is I cannot choose any thing except 360p no more no less that is why Ian asking

When watching movie trailers from all three movie apps, Movies, Moviefone, and IMDB. All looks fuzzy. Moviefone will let you pick HD and it defaults to that but it just looks like standard def.
Am I missing something in setting ?
Help please
At the bottom of the product page on Acer's US site is fine print saying that 1080P playback is coming in an update by June of this year. You didn't state the resolution, and I don't know if it's exactly the issue you're having though.
Thanks, but is that 1080p output to tv or better playback for videos. We have have 720p, right. It still looks bad. Try it, play a movie trailer from one of those sites, when the green movie trailer logo come up it is fuzzy bad.
Anyone one else wanna help answer this. Watch a movie trailer and tell me what you think.
Are we getting HD playback or not in 720p. Also does it record in 720p HD
Thanks
I've played my own videos on hd on the tablet, an they play an look great.
As for the "movie apps, " if those videos aren't playing in hd, that would be something to ask them about.

I watched a couple trailers on Moviefone, and they are not in hd. The application doesn't say anywhere (that I can see) that the trailers are supposed to be in high definition. There is a high quality setting, but no high definition.

Thanks, you are right, it says HQ, anyway i was comparing it to my brothers ipad2 and his looked crystal clear on all settings and he could chose between standard, 720p and 1080p.
Is this update coming in June for 1080p playback on the Tab or output to the TV?

Acer said in Q2 of this year (May to August) for an update that will allow 1080p playback on both the Tab and when going to a TV.
Guys, After Google I/O I am starting to think that the update in June Acer is talking about is Honeycomb 3.1.
Ideas?
The gate is not Acer, but is Nvidia. Nvidia needs to farm out codec package support to Archos. Archos may screw up awful on their tablet specs, but they have GREAT codec support in their devices.
I still do not see much value in 1080p, since drains battery and takes up tons of space. Not to mention our tablet is "800p", so 1080p is overkill.
If referring to outputting to a 1080p display and perhaps as a media center, NOW I see the point.
I have posted on another thread that I have tried playing back a 720p movie with huge lags. I think this should clear with the next update.
There is only an option for choosing standard and high quality. I was wondering if it is possible to play videos in HD. I tried the full youtube site but at 720p flash playback stuttered in the browser.
unless you have 720p screen, it wont serve any purpose to watch 720p videos. you get best quality when the video pixels and screen pixels are 1:1, since vibrant is 800*480, i think watching 480p will give you the best results.
I don't think so but why would you want to play it at 720p? The size of the screen makes high quality look like 720p...
Most of youtube content is converted to h.264 for mobile device consumption. They've converted and downsized the vids twice. Sd and hq. No other option through the app.

I bought myself a Note 3(N9005, 32GB version) few days ago, but since the beginning I have had a problem with recording 4K videos. To be exact, it doesn't record at the promised 45-50 mbps bitrate, instead it records at 10 mbps or even lesser bitrate. So my question would be, how can I fix that?
All the other featured modes are working flawlessly. Would really appreciate some help. The phone is not rooted or customized in any way.
Thanks in advance!

Did you set it up for 4k in settings
Yes, under the video resolution section I chose 3840x2160. Is there supposed to be some more options to improve the quality?

Downscaled 4K looks much better though, so there is a huge benefit in making 4K videos. Anyway it seems like those crappy units of Note 3-s made their way only to Estonia, since me and shizny are both from Estonia and there is no more information about that problem on the internet, atleast I couldn't find absolutely nothing on such weirdness.
Actually jaythenut is correct. Though the Note 3 is capable of recording video for playback on a 4K TV your device having only a 1080p display is not going to appear different at all.
The Note 3 plays back recorded 4K Video in 1080p on both the phone and any other playable media device as it can't process anything higher than that.
Your better off recording videos in 1080p at the now 60f/s.

no one is right.
quality of recorded videos playback is not the same as seen on youtube, by other peeps recordings.
check the quality, bitrate of 4K recorded video on my device is 6000kbps, 1080p is 15000kbps.
If you think a little logically then how come 4K recorded video is worse than 1080p? Even the playback quality is worse, not only on the device itself, but also on monitor.
Have you ever watched 1080p video on 720 display? Any difference? Video is crispy and detailed, Now how about 520p video on 1080p screen?
Now this is the same as my 4K recording on 1080p screen.
Either the device is faulty and cannot record/play 4K videos or sample videos made on youtube are actually 1080p.
This is really strange. I'm from Estonia as well and I'm facing the exact same problems. All my 4K videos look like 240p ones or even worse.
(Can't post the full YT links because of my postcount, but here's the v-codes)
watch?v=4iEt7lGGPqk- 4K sample
watch?v=4fryaJ6cfw4 - 1080p sample for comparison
I can't find anything on the internet regarding this subject, does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? I sent an email to Samsung support about this as well.
the same problem here (lithuania), firmware N9005XXUBMJ1
Wait for while there will b some patches to fix it.all devices havr same problem
Same here. 4K recording quality (and, of course, bitrate) is awful. Videos looks like 240p.
Lithuania, baseband N9005XXUBMJ1.
EDIT: Ok, it seems that this is common issue with particular batch of this model (maybe it only affects the Baltic countries), and service centers are aware of this problem.
Left my phone for warranty repairs...

Hi guys, since i searched all over the forum, i can't seem to find much or any full downloadable 4K samples, before i thought the YT ones looked good, but after downloading one in full ress non compressed ~ 50mbp/s instead of crappy 20 mbp/s youtube ones, i know understand that it does look ever better. Si i thought we can use this tread, in order to share personal footage, and full res/raw pictures if possible, thanks!
Since i don't own the phone yet, i will share my videos/pics later on, please do share i want to make a small collection, thanks!

Not sure about compressed 4K, but I searched on YouTube for 4K video and I was BLOWN AWAY by the quality. Its amazing. On the contrary, 4K wallpapers don't seem to be as impressive. :/

Uploaded to dropbox, or other free sharing service.
Ok so question.....the nexus 6 is out already. You think Google took off the feature on our note 4 just to bring it out on the nexus 6??? I wonder if nexus 6 owners can get 4K?
not likely; its a bandwidth issue, so I cant imagine any phone version of youtube getting any 4k videos any time soon
google doesnt want the bandwidth being sucked up by people who need to watch youtube videos in 4k on a 5 inch screen...
